  I currently have this rule where I want the page to just render my static content. RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [NC] However, this doesn't work. It works with a L tag but then the URL is different: RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [L, NC] My goal is to keep the URL the same but the content different. Can anyone point out to what flags are needed in order to get this working properly? Thanks!

• CSS/HTML: Highlighting the "full width avaialble" to a list item

  I'm working on a website for a small law office. In the side-menu, I'm trying to highlight the "current page". I have tried changing the background of the LI, but this doesn't quite do the trick; the list item doesn't spread to the full width of the menu, so it looks bad. Here's a jfiddle. I would like the yellow section to highlight like the pink section is highlighted: filling up the full vertical and horizontal space, not just highlighting the text. Any suggestions on how to do this? I've included the style tag in the html just for example, obviously, and my real solution will be a little different when it's done. But I can't move forward until I figure out how to somehow highlight the entire line.

  Hello, What are the ways to communicate with a kernel module from user space? By communication i mean sending information and commands between the module and a user space process. I currently know of two way: open/close/read/write/ioctl on published device node. read/write on exported and hooked /proc file. More specifically, can someone advice the best way to communicate with a kernel module that does not actually drives any hardware and therefore should not be littering /dev with stub nodes that exists solely for ioctl calls? I mostly need to check its various status variables and send it a block of data with a request type tag and see if the request succeeded. Inso.

  Hi, I'm trying to use vssadd task to add a tree of source files to a recent created project on VSS. But it happens to be adding only the folder tree, all files missing. <vsscp vsspath="$/DEV/APL_${version}" ssdir="${vssapl}" serverPath="${vsssvr}"/> The vssadd task displays the name of the folders it's creating: ... (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/domain: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/mbeans: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/service: ... The script runs successfully but the files never get in the repository. Trying to use wilcards are no good, the task says it found no matching files and ss returns with a code of 100: <vssadd ssdir="${vssapl}" localPath="C:\Workspace\APL_Build*.*" recursive="true" serverPath="${vsssvr}" comment="Build ${versao} at ${to.timestamp}"/ I've noticed that vssadd does not accept fileset tag either, so I'm kind of lost here. (The JS file is on another domain.)   I would like to know how Gmail (or anyone else) does comet on Opera. Here is what I know so far from my experiments. It doesn't use the event-source tag which is broken in Opera 10.51. It doesn't use iframe which displays a spinning throbber and a busy mouse cursor. It doesn't use responseText on xmlhttprequest when readyState = 3 which is known to be broken on Opera. I tried seeing how it was done in mibbit and etherpad, and I found that they both use long-polling.

• Is it possible to modify ASP.NET to no longer require runat="server"?

  I know why runat="server" is currently required (ASP.NET why runat="server"), but the consensus is that it should not be required if you incorporate a simple default into the design (I agree of course). Would it be possible to modify, extend, decompile and recreate, intercept or otherwise change the behavior of how ASP.NET parses ASPX and ASCX files so that runat="server" would no longer be required? For instance, I assume that a version of Mono could be branched to accomplish this goal.   Hi there. I'm working on an asp.net app and I have some controls that are created dinamically on the OnInit event. One of that controls is an asp button that has been working fine until now. When I add a ScriptManager to my page, that same button is unnable to postback. It's only working if a take the ScriptManager out. has anything like this ever appened to somebody else? Am I invalidating the page somehow? • Longer Form Fields in Drupal

  I have a really silly problem that has cost me a load of time already. I have created a content template with a URL in there. When I look at the HTML code for it, I see a big fat "maxlength=256" in the form tag. I'd like to expand the length of this field, because my customer wishes to enter really long links (over 500 characters). Any idea how I can change it? When I do a generic search through the code I see so many occurences of 256, but the length might just as well be in the database somewhere. I have of course made the database field a longer varchar (1024 sounded poetic to me), so that's something I don't have to worry about. I think it's silly, but the customer's always right, as we know. I am using Drupal 6.14.

• Generating changelogs from commit-comments - bad idea?

  I work for a small company (<10 developers) where we use Svn and to some extent Git. We have no release system implemented. We don't tag our applications with a release numbers so as you can imagine, we don't keep track of changes between releases very well. With this in mind I've been thinking about generating changelogs from the commit-comments. It doesn't have to be an awful idea if you implement guidelines for how to write comments. Or am I fooling myself thinking that colleagues will follow these guidelines? Most of them don't bother adding comments today but I'm hoping that will change if they become aware of how to formulate themselves and that you don't have to comment on every single commit. Or would we it be more wise to gather information from our bug/project managing software and write the changelogs manually (which unfortunately is something nobody wants to do)?

  I've read about it from the php website (http://us3.php.net/manual/en/language.basic-syntax.phpmode.php) Using: echo "<html tag>" is slower and also annoying because you got to escape char like " with \" But what's about using $output = <<< EOF <html code> EOF; Then later on in the code I can use $output .= <<< EOF <some more html code> EOF; then when I want to print it: echo "$output"; I think it's a great idea, but really wonder what you PHP guru think about it. • Implementing Multitasking on an iPhone/iOS4 Web App

  I am looking to build a web app that implements background audio and fast app switching. These features work out of the box, when run as regular Safari web pages, but as soon as you add the web-app-capable tag, and try to run in full screen mode, this functionality breaks. I did some testing and even the most basic web app will reload every time when you switch back to it. And seeing as it's a web app, we can't exactly implement the multitasking API. Has anyone found a work around? This isn't a deal-breaker, as you can just avoid full screen mode, but then you also lose the ability to use your own icon in the app switch tray. Perhaps this explains a lack of full screen mode in YouTube's new web app....

  Hello, according to the HTML Standards ID-Attributes of any HTML Tag in a webpage have to be unique in the document!? Does this rule also apply to HTML Tags that have been "disabled/hidden" by using: display:none? Example: <html> <body> <div id="one"></div> <div id="one" style="display:none;"></div> </body> </hmtl> Is this valid HTML or not. So the question is do "display:none"= hidden Elements also "count/matter" in regard to the rule only having unique ID-Attributes in a single webpage? Thanks Jan

• What can cause a double page request?

  I am currently investigating a double request problem on my site. Not all the time, but sometimes, a requested page will in fact load twice...which is not a problem really until it is on a page with PHP that inserts stuff into my db on request (my tracking script). I have read that an empty src in an image tag, and an empty url() in a css background could potentially cause the page to be requested twice. However, I can't find any problems with those. Is there anything else that could be causing something like this?

  <input src="LOGO.JPG" type="image" name="imagem"> I have an xml element that contains the image path that needs to be displayed in HTML after the parse. <xsl:value-of select="image"/> returns the string that is stored in the image element but how can I use it to make that string be the src atribute value in an html tag? I tried <input src="<xsl:value-of select="image"/>" type="image" name="imagem"> but obviously that doesn't work so how can it be done? I hope I was clear in my question. Please help!

• ASMX Web Service - "This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace." message

  I've created a web service using Visual Studio ( 2005 - I know I'm old school ) and it all compiles fine but when it opens I get warned thus: This web service does not conform to WS-I Basic Profile v1.1. And furthermore: This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace. Which would be fine except my service begins thus: [WebService(Namespace = "http://totally-not-default-uri.com/servicename")] Searching the entire solution folder for "tempuri" returns nothing. I can't find it mentioned in any configuration page acessible from Visual Studio. And yet it's right there in the wsdl:definitions list for the xmlns:tns attribute on the web service descriptor page when I view it through the browser and as targetNamespace in the same tag. I'm viewing it using Visual Studio's "debug" mode with the built in server from that. Seems like something has got cached somewhere but I can't work out what and where- I've tried stopping and restarting the server, cleaning and rebuilding the service and going through the associated text config files with a text editor but no dice. Any idea what is going on?
