  • Using Sigmatel STAC 92XX on Windows 7 RTM x64, cannot get 5.1 surround sound to work

    I have a Dell XPS 420. I've installed Windows 7 RTM (x64) I have this audio device: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio I have tried using the windows 7 basic driver, and also the Vista 64-bit driver from Dell's website (details): Date: 10/29/2007 Version: 6.10.0.5511, A04 File Size: 7 MB With both drivers, I get normal stereo sound from the driver, but my 5.1 surround sound doesn't work. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix?

The help taken is from site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwXyi1_UDWo But problem is with windows XP clients, they could not get new domain logon screen ans showing old domain name in logon screen..   • Is there a way to change the order of tabs in Foxit Reader?

    In web browsers you can drag the tabs to change the order. But I can't do that in Foxit Reader (version 3.1.4.1125, using Windows Vista Home, Chinese Traditional) Example: I open 3 files: Page2.pdf Page3.pdf Page1.pdf which opens Foxit Reader with a tab for each file, in the order Page2.pdf Page3.pdf Page1.pdf Is there a way to change the order of the tabs to Page1.pdf Page2.pdf Page3.pdf ? This would really be helpful when you have many files open... TIA! Harold

  • DVD Drive Failing on Windows 7

    I have x64 Windows 7 running on an ASUS M50VM. The DVD drive works completely unreliably if not at all. But the story is not that simple so bear with me...here are the gory details. When I first got the machine it came with Windows XP and I upgraded it to Windows Vista X64 and the DVD worked fine. When Windows 7 RC2 came out I tried it on a Virtual Machine and I liked it so much that I upgraded the machine to Win7 RC1. The DVD worked fine. Of course, RC1 was going to start spontaneously rebooting, so when Windows 7 was released I DID A CLEAN INSTALL of Windows 7. Just to clarify...by clean install I mean I did a FORMAT of the HARD DRIVE and INSTALLED it from scratch. EVER since then the DVD mostly doesn't work. I can sometime read from disk but that will often hang. (Please see my description below of HANG for details.) CD or DVD writes ALWAYS fail with a HANG (I have done a successful write only one time.) Here is what I mean by HANG... *Explorer Window is unresponsive. *Any software accessing the DVD drive is unresponsive. *The DVD tray will not eject. *Using a paper clip will eject but the disk is usually spinning real hard. *Attempting to shut down windows will fail. I have waited as long as ten minutes but the whole OS seems to hang. I do a hard shutdown. *Sometimes accessing the DVD (when it does not cause a HANG) will still fail and the device will actually seem to disappear from the system until I reboot. A couple of other things. It is NOT a hardware failure. It is the Windows OS. I know this because I swapped out my DVD drive with a friend with the same model...his machine is fine (he is still running Vista X64) and my machine still fails. For what it is worth. I swapped out my primary disk with the INTEL 160GB SSD.     From this article I have learnt, that DWM is enabled only with AERO: Let’s recall: without Aero turned on, the DWM is deactivated, so there’s also no more 2D acceleration, either (this applies equally to Windows 7 as it does to Vista) What is the easiest way to tell whether AERO / DWM on Win 7 is enabled / disabled? With some themes it is (visually) obvious, but with some others not (especially not when using remote access like VNC). Is there some dialog where I can see that AERO / DWM is enabled / disabled?

  • Synergy reports connected but mouse doesn't hop between screens

    I'm using synergy between two windows computers (Windows 7 32-bit, acting as the server part, and Windows XP 32-bit, as a client). I'm running the server part as admin, as suggested in some posts when running synergy in Vista/7, and I think it's properly configured in the server part: It reports on both sides that the connection has succesfully been established, but there's no way to move the mouse from one screen to the other (neither from server2client, nor client2server). Any ideas?

My question is this: Is there a program that allows a single Windows 7 computer to have multiple users (2 needed) and allow for two mice and two keyboards on two screens.     We're using DPM 2010 for exchange backups, The backup Disk(s) are iSCSI attached drives from multiple NAS boxes. We'd like to mirror iqn.2009-07.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 onto iqn.2012-3.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 DPM 2010 requires the disk for itself and handles volume creation, Therefore we can't just create a mirrored volume in Disk Management. DPM itself doesn't seem to have any ability to mirror the Disks in its storage pool. Any tips on how to mirror the volumes from one drive to the other?
