The good news is that he first part seems easy enough and CruiseControl.NET can work off Git repositories. The bad news is that according to my searches, nobody has ever tried to do this. Ideally, I'm looking for a step-by-step guide on how to set up such a development environment assuming more than one development computer, one central repository for the "master" branch, and one machine for building and packaging the binaries via CruiseControl.NET.   • CPU running at full capacity when boot to DOS?

    Does the CPU is run at 100% or near full capacity when the computer is booted into MS-DOS? Will the CPU temperature become higher even though we are not running any program in DOS mode? In Windows, we can see the CPU usage in % of utilization in Task Manager. From what I heard, CPU is running at near 100% capacity in DOS OS or in the BIOS MAIN screen. Is this caused by lack of CPU optimization in DOS OS?

  • Set modified date = created date or null on record creation?

    I've been following the convention of adding created and modified columns to most of my database tables. I also have been leaving the modified column as null on record creation and only setting a value on actual modification. The other alternative is to set the modified date to be equal to created date on record creation. I've been doing it the former way but I recent ran into one con which is seriously making me think of switching. I needed to set a database cache dependency to find out if any existing data has been changed or new data added. Instead of being able to do the following: SELECT MAX(modified) FROM customer I have to do this: SELECT GREATEST(MAX(created), MAX(modified)) FROM customer The negative being that it's a more complicated query and slower. Another thing is in file systems I believe they usually use the second convention of setting modified date = created date on creation. What are the pros and cons of the different methods? That is, what are the issues to consider?

Similar questions have been asked before: How can I sort files in Nautilus by modified date? Can I view my files sorted by date? However, they don't address making the preference permanent. Nautilus's preferences allow you to set sort by date modified (oldest first), but not reverse date modified (newest first). Does anyone have suggestions on setting sorted by reverse date modified as default?

    I have Google Chrome installed on Ubuntu and I have made a number of folders of bookmarks placed within my bookmark bar. The problem is that some of the folder's names are abbreviated like "Ru---" for "Ruby". This is kind of annoying when I have more than one folder that starts with "Ru". Also, my bookmark bar is not completely full, so there is plenty of space for these names to show. Anyone know how to fix this?

    There are quite a few questions on Stack Overflow about the Linq to Entity / Linq to SQL Sum extension method, about how it returns null when the result set is empty: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and many more, as well as a blog post discussing the issue here. I feel it is an inconsistency in the Linq implementation. I am assuming at this point that it is not a bug, but is more or less working as designed. I understand that there are workarounds (for example, casting the field to a nullable type, so you can coalesce with ??), and I also understand that for the underlying SQL, a NULL result is expected for an empty result set. But because the result of the Sum extension for non-nullable types is also non-nullable, why does the Linq to SQL / Linq to Entity Sum behave this way?

  • What is the best time to set the IP address for a server headed to a server colocation facility?

    What is the best time to set the IP address for a server? I have a server that I am going to install the OS on and then I am going to send it to a server colocation facility. The server is going to have Internet facing services (www, email, etc.) I can set up a "fake" IP address during install (by fake I mean private as in RFC 1918) and change the "fake" IPs to the real IPs once I set up the colocation service. The other option is to set up the colocation service...wait for them to give me the "real" IPs and use them during the OS install. The ramification are that...if I use "fake" IPs during install...I will have to wait before I set up things like SSL certs. If I wait for IPs from the colocation provider...then I can set up SSL certs that use the "correct" (as in "real") IP addresses...no changes to the certs until they expire. Do the "gotchas" of changing an IP address on a server outweigh the benefits of a quick install? The other danger with using "fake" IPs is that I could make a mistake when I go through the various files to change the IP address to the "live" IP address. Server OS: CentOS 6.2 or CentOS 6.3, 64 bit. Apps: Apache 2.4.X httpd, MySQL 5.X (will eventually use replication)

  • Combine config-paramters with parameters passed from commanline

    I have created a SSIS-package that imports a file into a table (simple enough). I have some variables, a few set in a config-file such as server, database, importfolder. at runtime I want to pass the filename. This is done through a stored procedure using dtexec. When setting the paramters throught the configfile it works fine also when setting all parameters in the procedure and passing them with the \Set statement (se below). when I try to combine the config-version with settings parameters on the fly I get an error refering to the config-files path that was set at design time. Has anybody come across this and found a solution for it?   • GRUB-2 Bootloader fails to load for lack of floppy drive. Ubuntu 10.4 & Windows XP

    2010.07.21 while trying to install Ubuntu 10.4 Hello all, I've been trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell workstation and am unable to get the Grub-2 bootloader to load properly. It seems to be failing for lack of a floppy drive on the system resulting in an error message that reads : error: fd0 cannot get C/H/S values. I've gone through the Grub-2 page at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2 to no avail and other sources having similar problems have likewise turned up no solutions. I would certainly appreciate any insight, here's the background: A while back I was trying to install a different version of Linux and had the same problems, then had to set the project aside for a bit. I don't think this has anything to do with Linux or Ubuntu per se, but rather Grub. The system is an old (4-5 years) Dell workstation that has one drive (128 GB) set up for Windows XP and a second new drive (500GB) which I installed for Linux. There is a DVD/CD drive and the system contains no floppy drive at all. In one attempt to get this working I tried modifying the BIOS to indicate there was a floppy drive - this created a failure earlier in the chain with the BIOS failing to load properly, not unexpected, just a shot in the dark at that point. At the moment I am considering just running out to buy and install a cheap floppy drive to see if that helps. I'll never use the thing though so I'd rather find a solution that doesn't require me to spend money on useless hardware. I saw in vim's help (:help 'statusline) that one can set a fixed width of some items. How would you go about fixing the above items in a way, that if one item is missing, or no matter of its width, that it doesn't affect the other ones ? (i.e. so I can always look at a known position and know what is there ... not move my eyes left and right searching for the thing I need).

    I'm coding an app in MSVS 2008, which has a ComboBox control which I initialize thru the code as below: static char* OptionString[4] = {"Opt1", "Opt2", "Opt3", "Opt4"}; BOOL CMyAppDlg::OnInitDialog() { CDialog::OnInitDialog(); // Set the icon for this dialog. But, if i press down-arrow key on keyboard, it cycles thru the options in the order I've inserted, but never does it show more than 1 option in the box. So, In case an user wants to select option3, he has to cycle through options 1 and 2 !! Though once I select any option using the keyboard, the appropriate event handlers are fired, I'm miffed by this behaviour , as is understandable. I'm listing the properties of the combo-box control as well - only the properties that are true(rest are set to false): Type - Dropdown Vertical Scrollbar Visible Tabstop This has bugged me for weeks now. Can anyone pls enlighten me ?

  • In MySQL how can I tell what character set a particular table is using?

    I have a large mysql table that I think might be using the wrong character set. If so I'll need to change it using ALTER TABLE mytable CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 But since this is a very large table, I'd rather not run this command unless I have to. So my question is, how can I ask mysql what the character set is on a particular table? I can call status in mysql to see the database's character set, but that doesn't necessarily mean all the tables have the same character set, right?

But even if only 8 columns are shown, there are plenty of other properties (as foo | gm is showing). What is causing this function to show only this 8 properties? I'm actually trying to build a similar function that is returning complex objects from a 3rd party .Net library. The library is flatting a 2 level hierarchy of objects : function Actual { $someDotnetObject.ACollectionProperty.ASecondLevelCollection | % { $_ } } This method is dumping the objects in a list form (one line per property). How can I control what is displayed, keeping the actual object available?     I have a function call in a program that I'm maintaining has 28 arguments for a printf call. It's printing a lot of data in a CSV file. I have problems following finding where what goes and I have some mismatches in the parameters types. I enabled -Wall in gcc and I get warnings like: n.c:495: warning: int format, pointer arg (arg 15) n.c:495: warning: format argument is not a pointer (arg 16) n.c:495: warning: double format, pointer arg (arg 23) The function is like this: fprintf (ConvFilePtr, "\"FORMAT3\"%s%04d%s%04d%s%s%s%d%s%c%s%d%c%s%s%s%s%s%s%s%11.lf%s%11.lf%s%11.lf%s%d\n", some_28_arguments_go_here); I would like to know if there is a vim plugin that highlights the printf format specifier when i go with the cursor over a variable. Other solutions? How to better reformat the code to make it more readable?

    Why was the arguments.callee.caller property deprecated in JavaScript? It was added and then deprecated in JavaScript, but it was omitted altogether by ECMAScript. Some browser (Mozilla, IE) have always supported it and don't have any plans on the map to remove support. Others (Safari, Opera) have adopted support for it, but support on older browsers is unreliable. Is there a good reason to put this valuable functionality in limbo? (Or alternately, is there a better way to grab a handle on the calling function?)

  • Issues running python scripts in Command Prompt (Specifically with command line arguments)?

    I am trying to run my python scripts in DOS without calling python.exe first. I am specifically doing this in relation to running django-admin.py. I have C:\Python26 and C:\Python26\Scripts in my PATH. However, if I try running django-admin.py by doing: django-admin.py startproject helloworld I get the message: Type 'django-admin.py help' for usage. Now, after some experimentation, I realized the problem is that the secondary arguments to these scripts are not being passed for some reason, since I tried it with a some other python scripts I have. I know I could avoid this problem by simply doing: python C:\Python26\Scripts\django-admin.py startproject helloworld But I know it should be possible to run the first command only and get it to work, because I had it working before. I've looked everywhere, and not many places have been helpful so any idea would be useful for me at this point.
