How to scroll whole visible page down to an anchor with a smooth effect (Scriptaculous or jQuery)?

Hey community, I want to create an navigation with anchors. By clicking on a navigation link, the whole visible page should scroll down to the clicked anchor. The most important is the following structure of the page. --------------- (Begin visible browser area) NAV1 nav2 nav3 content --------------- (Begin/end visible browser area) nav1 NAV2 nav3 content --------------- (Begin/end visible browser area) nav1 nav2 NAV3 content --------------- (end visible browser area) Finally all content is in a single document and the height of the current page (selected by the nav-item) has to be calculated (with a JS Library). I prefer PrototypeJS/Scriptaculous and jQuery. The scroll effect should be a smooth slide/ effect. Chris

Overlapping elements stop overlapping in IE7 on class change

On this page http://zenchan.com/program/ When I rollover the right box 2nd from the top suddenly the overlapping (negative margin disappears). What's happening is that a 'hover' class is being added to shift the background sprite. The two yellow boxes are debugging: if the hover class is put their in advance there is no problem. So fundamentally the CSS is not a problem for IE7 but adding the class is. Any ideas what's causing this. I've tried adding haslayout to various elements but to little effect.

IE display problem

Hi, I have a page, and I just added pagination to it, but there's a prob in IE 7 & 8. When I add pagination code echo "<div class='pagination'>"; echo $pagination->GetPageLinks(); echo "</div>"; it breaks somehow layout in IE, I have looked all over it and I couldn't find what's wrong there. oh, and its css div.pagination { text-align : center; } div.pagination a, div.pagination span { padding : 5px; display : inline-block; } page url - adelija.puslapiai.lt, it's on index page, if you could take a look, that'd be great.

div at bottom of page.

I have a div which I am using as a footer to display some content. I have put the style as: .pageFooter{ position:absolute; bottom:0px; width:100%; height:25px; background:#e6e6e6; } This style works well when there is not content in the body of page. But when I populate the page with content, say datagrid, the div is overlaps data in datagrid. What changes should I make to the style to let the div be at the bottom always. I am using IE* to view the pages.

Hello, I want to be able to keep a text on the left, but in the middle of a div. <div id=sel>text goes here</div> and my CSS for the same sel{ text-align:left; vertical-align:middle; } The characters and lines of the text may vary. How to aviod sapcing from the first div of each row

I have DIVs which comes side by side of each other & but there only fourth DIV comes in the first row & other are shifted too the next row. I want each row first div take no space from left side but is not happened. HTML5 placing image where i want it on screen

I have a little start screen running and i want the image, which is acting as a button, to placed at a certain point, but when i try to it stays in the same place, and i don't know how i can get it to stay in the place i want it. z-index of :before or :after to be below the element, Is that possibale?

I am trying to style a element with the :before CSS property a.someSelector{position:relative; z-index:1;} a.someSelector:after{position:relative; z-index:0; content:" "; position:absolute; width:100px; height:100px;} It seems like the :after element can not be lower then the element itself. Is there a way [hack] to have the pseudo element lower then the element itself? Thanks

JQuery tools overlay opens at the top of page instead of overlaying in IE, works fine in FF/Chrome

Here is the sandbox version of my site: http://3.latest.truxmapper.appspot.com/ To reproduce the error, hover over to the toolbar and go to Support -- FAQ. In Chrome/FF, this will work as expected. In IE, the background image will quickly move to the center of the page, but when its time to insert the div over the background image, its inserted on top of the page rather than the center of the page. The plugin example ( http://flowplayer.org/tools/overlay/apple.html ) works fine in IE, so i know it ought to be possible. I've tried messing around with the div placement on the html and with the css to no avail. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks!

are shrink-to-fit table cells possible?

Let's say I have a menu of a prespecified width... I want each menu item to shrink-to-fit with its contents, with the exception of ONE, which then fills up the remaining space in the menu. so like: Fill | item | item | item So far the closest I've come to achieving this effect is by using display:table-cell; in the css code for each menu item. But the problem is unless I define a width for the "item"s, they all expand to take up the same amount of width in the table. Fill | item | item | item | item Is there any way to have the item spaces shrink to fit the item and have the fill just fill up the rest of the div? I might not have asked this very clearly... I'll clarify if needed.

I'm a person that learns best from example. Currently, I'm diving into the field of Web Development after fifteen years of developing desktop apps. I'm still getting used to all the web technologies used for developing modern web sites and everywhere I look, I see cool little UI elements and question how they're implemented. So I thought I'd ask you, the web experts...the wexperts :) What are some straight forward or creative ways you could code this grid-breaking arrow... The basic layout for this page looks like... What would the html/css code look like? Would you split the image into multiple images or could you use a single image? I'm sure this is a really simple concept and it completely boggles me. Two Column Theme, Help, to make both columns seperately Scrollable.

Hey, I am not sure what to do on this one, I'm not a programmer, but trying to learn CSS as this is how the theme I am using was coded in. I've gotten quite far on my own, but this one stumps me Its two column Theme... As far as I have been able to get, I can use the following: #left { width: 235px; padding: 10px; margin-left: 20px; position: fixed; line-height: 15px; If I change the position to Absolute, The whole page scrolls, If I leave it at Fixed, and add lets say, a Twitter feed, or other type of text that takes me past its reading where you would normally scroll, Its just cut off, cannot get to it, hightlight or scroll.. I've also toyed with the idea, of changing the theme to a 3 column theme, but Again, not a programmer, and i'd be really confused. anyhelp would be great... A PHP Function that verify code language

Hi, I have a form with 2 textareas; the first one allows user to send HTML Code, the second allows to send CSS Code. I have to verify with a PHP function, if the language is correct. If the language is correct, for security, i have to check that there is not PHP code or SQL Injection or whatever. What do you think ? Is there a way to do that ? How to center text in a select list

I'm having trouble styling a select list in an html form. Basically I want it to have a font size of 12px, and a height of 30px; The problem is that the box is drawn to the right hight, but the text rendering varies in each browser. In FireFox it renders it in the top left corner. I want to vertically center the text. Anyone know of a way to do this or do I need to make something custom out of a ul? Thanks

Safari 5 vs. Safari 4 : Are there any compatibility differences?

I recently obtained a Mac so I could test our sites on Safari and Firefox for Mac OS. Now that Safari 5 is out, I'm not sure what I should do about upgrading. I presume what works on Safari 5 works on Safari 4, but I can't be sure, and vice versa. So, I don't know if I should upgrade and test on Safari 5 or keep on with Safari 4. Are there any major differences between these two version in terms of CSS (2.1) handling or JavaScript? When do you think the majority of people will have Safari 5 instead of 4? All thoughts appreciated.

How to generate a PDF of dynamic HTML content?

I am trying to be able to allow users to generate content dynamically, and have that information be in a , and then allow that specific to be exportable to a pdf. I have got Joomla up and running (with the appropriate mySQL and ANT) locally with the Web2PDF extension, but how would I get those running on my domain (hosted by Dreamhost). Are there any other approaches you might recommend. The content is generated by JS and JQuery, and formatted with CSS and HTML. Other considerations: Web2PDF generates a PDF on the entire content, (pulling the entire page's HTML, not just the specific <div>.

How to hide overflow in this example?

Any suggestions?
