• Join DELETE in MySql? How to?

  I have this: $query="DELETE FROM classified, $sql_table WHERE classified.ad_id = '$id' AND classified.classified_id = $sql_table.classified_id AND classified.poster_password='$pass'"; I get this error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE classified.ad_id = 'Bmw_M3_E46_Full_29920' AND classified.cla' at line 1 Any help? As you can see the $sql_table is linked to the classifieds table with the fields classified_id I need to JOIN DELETE somehow.   I have a table "tbluser" with 2 fields: userid = integer (autoincrement) user = nvarchar(100) I have a multithreaded/multi server application that uses this table. The stored procedure either gets the userid or insert the user if it is a new user. Am I correct to assume that the table is locked (only one server can insert/query)?

  There is a common feature of modern browsers where a user can select some text and drag it to an input field. Within the same field it causes moving of text, between different fields it does copying. How do I disable that? If there is no portable way, I am mostly interested in firefox. This is an intranet webapp, so I am also interested in modifying the browser/getting a plugin to do this. Maybe some system-level settings (I`m on windows XP)? I need to keep the default select-copy-paste functionality. The background is I have multiple-field data entry forms, and users often drag something by mistake.

  I have a form I'm trying to set up ... Users can have many posts, and each post can have many people watching it. The Watch model is set up polymorphically as 'watchable' so it can apply to different types of models. It has a user_id, watchable_id, watchable_type and timestamps as attributes/fields. This is soley so that when people comment on a post, users watching the post can get an email about it. What I'm trying to do is show the user a list of users that they can tag on each post, which is not problem. This is what I'm using right now http://pastie.org/940421 The problem with this, is that when you go to edit an update/post ... all the checkboxes are prechecked ... I want it to pre-check only users who are currently watching the post.

  I need to change the color of a cell in ReportViewer based on its value. 1) I got the first part down - I'm comparing the difference between two numbers like so: =IIf(Fields!variance.Value > 0) 2) Now how do I actually change the visual formatting of the cell? A web standards way would be to add a class - since then you can format the class to whatever you like, e.g. changing borders, typography, bacgkround color etc. Since ReportViewer sucks and doesn't have that functionality what should I use instead? Any hacks I could use?

I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

• IDENTITY_INSERT is set to off error

  I have a MVC web application with a table in the model that I would like to add to. I have the primary key set along with the other data fields, but every time I try to add to the table, I get the following error: "Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'TABLE_NAME' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF." I'm not sure why this problem is coming up, I have the primary key set as the identity and it is also set to auto increment in the Visual Studio table designer. Is there any way I can adjust the IDENTITY_INSERT parameter in the table designer in Visual Studio?? Or is there some other issue that might be causing this.

• Trying to get Package Version Information to display in an "About" message.

  Hello, I have been struggling with getting the versionName for a running application from the PackageInfo Object type. I have constructed a Parcelable Interface with all of the fields associated with the PackageInfo Object type. The primary input for that interface method is a Parcel object. I cannot seem to figure out how to correctly associate these Parcelable, Parcel, and PackageInfo objects. Is there any sample code out there that I can look at? • Xcode 4: deleting items in Build Settings

  In XCode 4.0 there's a newly designed Build Settings page. My problem is that I can't see how to remove a setting once I've specified it. Example: I've changed "Versioning System" to "Apple Generic" at the target level. Afterwards I realised I should set it at the project level, and so I want to delete the target level setting. However, there's no way I can see to remove the setting -- you click on it and there's two options, neither of which is the default "not specified" empty setting. Hitting the delete key on the keyboard nothing. The same goes for fields that accept text -- if I try to delete a setting by just deleting all the text set, it still shows that field in green, but with no text in it, and regards it as the presence of a setting.

• Need alternative field names for these reserved words

  “type” and “class” are likely reserved or problematic words in C# and/or Ruby, two languages I may use to program against my new database schema in the future. So, in order to avoid potential conflicts with those languages, I’m looking for alternative names for these field names in my tables. In this case, it is from my Machines table, where I have: “class” field (values would be something like “manual” or “computerized”) and “type” field (values would be “lathe” or “mill”) I could call the fields “machineclass” and “machinetype”, but that is inconsistent with naming scheme in the rest of my schema (meaning, I do not re-use the table name in the field… For instance, I use Machine.name, not Machine.machinename) Any thought on this madness?

  Hi I’m trying to do some validation in asp .net MVC 2.0 for my application. I want to have some nice client side validation. Validation should be done most time on model side with DataAnnotations with custom attributes( like CompareTo, StringLenght, MinPasswordLenght (from Membership.MinimumumpassworkdLenght value). For that purpose I tried to use xval with jquery.validation. Some specific thing is that most of forms will be working with ajax and most problems are when I want to validate form with ajax. The worst thing is that even if we have different types and their fields name is same validation won’t work too ( this thing is what I need to repair it will be stupid to name some unique properites for validation ). Is there any solution for this ? Custom attributes validation Next thing custom attributes validation ( All those error are when I use Ajax for on normal form validation is working without problem. ): CompareTo - Simple compare to that is done in mvc template for account model ( class attribute saying with two property will be compared ) , and it wasn’t show on page. To do it I created own CachingRulesProvider with compareRule and my Attribute. Maybe there is more easy way to do it? StringLenght with minimum and maximum value, I won’t describe how I done it but is there any easy whey to do it? Validation summary When I have two two control on page all summary validation information goes to first control validation summary element, even xval generated script say that elementID are different for summary. Any one know how to repair it? Validation Information Is there any option to turn on messages on place where is Html.ValidationMessageFor(model = model.ConfirmPassword). Becsoue for me it isn’t show up. I would like to have summary and near field information too not only red border. Any one know how to do it? Ajax submit Anyone know how to do easy without massive code in javascript to do submit via javascript. This will be used to change input submit to href element (a).   hey all, well i want to have an autocompleting textbox like the one in the image below: this screenshot is from an accounting software. whenever the user focuses on a textbox and starts typing something the suggestions just popup under the control (as seen in the image under the Purc type textbox).This autosuggest functionality even works in the cells of the grid shown in the picture.Moreover the fields in which this autosuggest is enabled allows only values from the autosuggest list to be filled up and nothing else. i want to emulate similar functionality in my app in vb6. so if you could please guide me in the right direction i would be very grateful. thanks in advance to all those who take out time to reply.

  I am using jquery for a quick and easy form validation My forms use the input's default value as a label and I have a little onfocus and onblur javascript function to show and hide this when the user starts to type: <input name='fnameREG' type='text' id='fnameREG' value='first name' size='70' onfocus='clearInput(this)' onblur='clearInput(this)' /> <input name='lnameREG' type='text' id='lnameREG' value='last name' size='70' onfocus='clearInput(this)' onblur='clearInput(this)' /> My issue with the validation is that when the submit button is clicked the pluggin thinks that all the fields are set because they have a default value. • Swap unique indexed column values in database.

  I have a database table and one of the fields (not primary key) is having unique index on it. Now I want to swap values under this column for two rows. How could this be done? Two hack I know are: Delete both rows and re-insert them Update rows with some other value and swap and then update to actual value. But I don't want to go for these as they do not seem to be the appropriate solution to the problem. Could anyone help me out?

• Open source configuration framework for ASP.NET - does one exist?

  We currently have an old product written in classic asp and are about to re-write parts in ASP.NET. One big problem is that much of the cutomer-specifics within the system are hard coded. We want to split this out for specific customers by storing data in the database. Is there a quick an easy open source framework which allows me to set up some quick tables and simple UIs to allow me to change configuration items? We have 6-7 modules, and it would be nice to have the ability to have system admins gain access to a configuration area where they can set-up settings in a tabbed UI format, settings could also be set-up to allow dropdown, fields, numbers etc. The items could then be accessed via classes in C#/vb for use within the operational parts of the system. If not, I'm suprised and it might even be a good basis for a new open source project.

• Using Entity Framework, how do I specify a sort on a navagation property?

  I have two tables: [Category], [Item]. They are connected by a join table: [CategoryAndItem]. It has two primary key fields: [CategoryKey], [ItemKey]. Foreign keys exist appropriately and Entity has no problem pulling this in and creating the correct navigation properties that connect the entity objects. Basically each category can have multiple items, and items can be in multiple categories. The problem is that the order of items is specified per category, so that a particular item might be third in one category but fifth in another. In the past, I have added a [Sequence] field to the join table and modified the stored procedure to handle it. But since Entity is replacing my stored procedures, I need to figure out how to make Entity handle the sequence. Any suggestions?

  Let's say I have 2 instance of a class called 'Animal'. Animal has 3 fields: Name, Age, and Type The name field is nullable, so before I insert an instance of Animal as a Lucene indexed document, I check if Animal.Name == null, and if it does, I do not insert it as a field in my document. If I were to retrieve all animals, I would see that the Name field does not exist and I can set its value to null. However, there may be situations where I want to say "Get me all animals that do not have a name specified yet." In this situation I want to retrieve all Lucene.NET documents from my animal index that do not contain the Name field. Is there an easy way to do this with Lucene.NET? I want to stay away from having to perform some sort of hack to check if my name field has a value of 'null'.
