    I currently have an email address, [email protected], that I currently use to forward to a gmail account that I've used for years. I currently have it set, so I can send email from my [email protected] instead of [email protected]. This is done through the web ui on my current domain name, provider, gandi.net. What are the main differences between this arrangement, and setting up a Google Apps for your domain setup, where I'm explicitly listing in the dns records to point records to point to Google's app mail server?

    Hi Guys, I have configured nagios in my environment and i have used the following setting for a service which monitors the disk space for every 10 min , Normal check interval =10 min retry check interval = 1 min Maximum attempts =2 But accoring to this values i should recieve my first alert after 10 min and then from there for every 1 min. But in my case i am recieving my first alert and then next alert comes to me after 20 min. Can some one help me in fixing this.

    I have a webserver (Ubuntu 12.04 with LAMP) using Virtualmin / Webmin. Because I just moved from a Cpanel system, I am having a nightmare configuring the DNS! Using intoDNS.com, the failed reports are: Mismatched NS records WARNING: One or more of your nameservers did not return any of your NS records. DNS servers responded ERROR: One or more of your nameservers did not respond: The ones that did not respond are: 123.123.123.123 213.251.188.141x Multiple Nameservers ERROR: Looks like you have less than 2 nameservers. According to RFC2182 section 5 you must have at least 3 nameservers, and no more than 7. Having 2 nameservers is also ok by me. Missing nameservers reported by your nameserver You should already know that your NS records at your nameservers are missing, so here it is again: ns1.mydomain.com. sdns2.ovh.net. SOA record No valid SOA record came back! MX Records WWW A Record ERROR: I could not get any A records for www.mydomain.com!     i have widows seven ultimate install on my laptop but use xp mode for many applications on it, is it possible to return an application in xp mode to an earlier restore point in just xp mode or does the host machine need to be restored i do not wish to make any changes on the host but require to either re install windows virtual pc and all the applications and upgrade them slowly to the point my application fails or restore the applications back? any advise on this will be grately recieved

  • Java update "Failed to download required installation files."

    On my Windows 7 machine the Java update consistently fails with this error message. This seems to a common problem, does anyone have an insight into what's going wrong, and is there a fix for it other than either disabling the update check (seems a bad idea from a security point of view) or waiting for the nag message and then manually installing the new version (annoying and stupid from a usability point of view). Note that I did install the previous version manually (updating from 6.23 to 6.30 I think?), thinking that might resolve the issue, but no luck.

    We have about 40 file servers in our intranet to distribute software packages. The servers have names like example01, example02 etc. Every name resolves to a single IP-address (A-record) and the IP resolves back to that name (PTR) for every single server. The thing is, that for a certain file (mypackage.cab) I get different results depending on whether I use: \\192.0.2.01\fs\pkg\X12345678 or \\example01.foo\fs\pkg\X12345678 While in one case the file is correct in the other case the file has exactly the right size, but it is all zeros. For a certain combination of client and server I can reproduce this reliably. It doesn´t matter if I download in Windows Explorer, via robocopy or even from Linux with smbclient. It´s always the same, one file corrupt, the other ok. It happens only for certain combinations of clients and servers, not others. For example: client01 example01.foo -> OK (192.0.2.01 is also OK) client01 example02.foo -> broken (but 192.0.2.02 is OK) client02 example01.foo -> broken (but 192.0.2.01 is OK) client02 example02.foo -> OK (192.0.2.02 is also OK) client03 example06.foo -> OK (but 192.0.2.06 is broken) client03 example07.foo -> OK (192.0.2.07 is also OK) etc... In some cases I get the broken file when I use the IP address in other cases when I use the name. For every client the majority of servers is Ok, but from every client I tested I have at least 4 cases of broken files. All this happens only for mypackage.cab (about 5k in size), it never happened for any of the other files in the same directory. Confused? Certainly I am. Any idea what can cause this or any idea what to try to figure it out is welcome. Clients are Windows XP. Servers are NetApp filers I don´t have access to.     I was curious and confused that what exactly is the behaviour of CTRl+Z. I know, If a process in running in foreground, and we press ctrl+z, it goes to background. But what exactly happens. Does it keep doing it's job, or does it get suspended, and stopped at the point where it was. Can someone please explain.   • Gedit opens on all workspaces?

    Im using Fedora 10 with XFCE. Every time I open Gedit, it opens a instance on every workspace. The circle icon on my window border is selected (meaning, enabled on all workspaces). When I disable it to appear on one workspace, then close and restart, Gedit opens normal (current workspace). Question is: How to keep this current configuration? If I restart my system, and start up Gedit, it appears on all workspaces again.

    I have managed to trash my homebrew Nas box (an old hp d530 + 2x 750gb sata soft raid1 + 17gb boot disk with ubuntu server 8.10) I have searched the web and tried to repair the file system but to no avail :( I was thinking that the dirs/files located under the root of the lost+found directory are 64 bit numbers. Is there any way that I could decant the number into binary form, from there reconstruct the directory/file structure. More to the point can anyone point to the information on how xfs inodes are broken down(does that make sense)?

  • S.M.A.R.T. Hard drive failure test?

    I'm working on my mom's computer and she freaked because it told her "There was an imminent hard drive failure about to occurr." I did some digging and found it was related to the S.M.A.R.T. technology in the hard drive. The message appears every time you boot, but it will still let you boot into Windows and every thing seems fine. How serious are these warning messages? Do we really need to immediately replace the hard drive?

  • Refreshing and alerting only when a keyword appears?

    I know of the addons which reload the page and inform about any change on the website like Check4Change and Reload Every for Firefox. However, I'd love to have something which not only looks for any change but for a particular keyword or a list of keywords. I mean: something that I can configure to look for, say, "Jesse James" and it reloads every n seconds but gives me an alert/sound only when this keyword appears on the site, ignoring any other content chagne. Is there anything like this for any browser?

However I would like to substitute a specific font - say Arial - with another of my choice every time it is found instead of setting a global font (which I don't like as I just want to substitute Arial) or using a stylish rule for every page.     I've installed OpenSUSE on my server and want to set ssh to log every command, which is send to system over it. I've found this in my sshd_config: # Logging # obsoletes QuietMode and FascistLogging #SyslogFacility AUTH #LogLevel INFO I guess that both of those directives has to be uncommented, but I'd like to log every command, not only authorization (login/logout via SSH). I just want to know, if someone breaks into my system, what did he do.
