  • Show Visualizers Error

    When I try to inspect DataSet by standard DataSet visualizer I see this error "could not load this custom viewer". I wrote simple dataset visualizer, but error throws anyway too. On other computers with the same configuration visualizer show without any errors. OS: Windows 7 x86 (Release) VS: Visual Studio 2010 RC has somebody any ideas? I reinstall VS with no effect.

  • How to add WCF templates to Visual Studio Express?

    I am working through the book Learning WCF by Michele Bustamante, and trying to do it using Visual Studio C# Express 2008. The instructions say to use WCF project and item templates, which are not included with VS C# Express. There are templates for these types included with Visual Studio Web Developer Express, and I've tried to copy them over into the right directories for VS C# Express to find, but the IDE doesn't find them. Is there some registration process? Or config file somewhere?

  • When developing a MVC project, is the the toolbox really useful?

    I'm a noobie when it comes to VS, specifically VS 2010. I'm trying to learn MVC 2.0. If you're developing a pure MVC project, it seems like most of the toolbox is not useful. Shouldn't the IDE hide controls that aren't useful? Specifically, I'm looking at the AJAX extensions like Timer and UpdatePanel, but it seems like a lot controls more would require postback.

  • VSLauncher starts wrong version

    I have 3 versions of Visual Studio installed, and 3 projects that require a specific version. VSLauncher USED to look at the SLN or VCPROJ file and open the correct version of Visual Studio. Now it only starts the most recent version, regardless of the project. Note that this has nothing to do with the commonly reported problem with beta versions of VS. none of the SLNs have ever been touched by a beta VS.

Here are some of my requirements: Win 7 ultimate MS Office VS 2008 and VS 2010 when it's out CodeRush good size keyboard without having to do a Fn+Key for Insert, Home, End and Del keys Preferably Core 2 Duo Decent battery life P.S. The config of the netbook handed out at PDC seems pretty awesome.

  • WCF: 'Update Service Reference' hoses my files.

    Every time that I make a change to the contract of my WCF service, I need to have Visual Studio update the service references in all of my client projects. This process regenerates my client's app.config file and, since I have hand-tuned the "bindings" section of the file, I need to back-up my file and then restore it each time I have VS do the update. Is there a way to avoid this necessity (eg: have VS update the service reference without rewriting anything in app.config)? Thanks

    Hi, When you develop a Java application that talks to oracle DBs, there are 2 options right? One is oracle thin driver, and the other is OCI driver that requires its own installation (please correct if I'm misunderstanding). Now, what are the pros and cons? Obviously thin driver sounds much better in terms of installation, but is there anything that OCI can and the thin one can't? Develop environment is Tomcat6 + Spring 3.0 + JPA(Hibernate) + appache-DBCP Thanks in advance.

  • What is the difference between moveBackward: and moveLeft: when using NSResponder -interpretKeyEvent

    I'm implementing a custom text box using -interpretKeyEvents: and am trying to figure out what the difference is between moveBackward: vs moveLeft: and moveForward: vs moveRight:. moveLeft: is bound to the left arrow and moveBackward: is bound to Ctrl + B. The documentation describes them almost identically and they seem to behave identically in practice. I'm assuming this is just a holdover from Vim? Does anyone know what the real difference is?     Hi, I'm developing a Work item Custom Control and I need to use the standard VS's Merge Wizard for items in source control from my code to allow to user choose the target branch, resolve conflicts etc. I'm pretty sure it's possible in some way (even through the reflection), but I just can't find the proper class in any of VS client assemblies (Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Controls.dll, Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client.dll).     I thought that oracle treats both "is" and "as" same for functions and procedures.I tried googling with "pl/sql is vs as" and got the following link which says both are the same. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2338408/is-vs-as-keywords-for-pl-sql-oracle-function-or-procedure-creation But I found http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/plsql/coll/declaration.html#index_by which seems to indicate there is a difference.   • How can I debug a Windows service that crashes?

    I have a .NET Windows service that appears to be crashing due to C00000005 (access violation--according to Dr Watson). When I attach the VS debugger to it--whether I build it with or without symbols--the VS debugger just stops when the service crashes, instead of stopping to give me a chance to do any investigation. Is that to be expected, or am I doing something wrong? Will using WinDbg let me do something more in real time (obviously, WinDbg lets me do crash dump analysis)? Thanks!
