  • Array of Arrays - writing to File problem

    - by iFloh
    Hi, and again my array of arrays ... I try to improve my app performance by buffering arrays on file for later reuse. I have an NSMutableArray that contains about 30 NSMutableArrays with NSNumber, NSDate and NSString Objects. I try to write the file using this call: bool result = [myArray writeToFile:[fileMethods getFullPath:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"iEts%@.arr", [aDate shortDateString]]] atomically:NO]; = result = FALSE. The Path method is: + (NSString *) getFullPath:(NSString *)forFileName { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:forFileName]; } and the aDate call returns a shortDateString with ddMMyy. The NSLog NSLog(@"%@", [fileMethods getFullPath:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"iEts%@.arr", [aDate shortDateString]]]); on the path generation returns: /Users/me/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/86729620-EC1D-4C10-A799-0C638BB27933/Documents/iEts010510.arr FURTHER: It must have something to do with the Array of Arrays, since I also write 3 further simple arrays (containing NSStrings) that all succeed. The Array of Arrays gets generated using the addObject method Any ideas what could cause the trouble?

  • Facebook connect with iPhone not working?

    - by Atulkumar V. Jain
    Hi Everybody, I am trying to use Facebook connect in my application, but its not working as I desire. When I am trying to use the API Key and the API SecretKey of my application which I have registered with the facebook its not working. I have downloaded the code for the facebook. In the SessionViewController.m file when I pass my key values its not working. What I am trying to achieve is, when the app launches the first page is the Facebook Login Page. The user enters his username and password and then the next view should display. But nothing is happening, even the label doesn't display the username. Heres the code which I am using - (void)request:(FBRequest*)request didLoad:(id)result { NSArray* users = result; NSDictionary* user = [users objectAtIndex:0]; NSString* name = [user objectForKey:@"name"]; _label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Logged in as %@",name]; NSLog(@"Username is :- %@",name); FrontController *main = [[FrontController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:main.view]; [main release]; } I am not able to figure out what is wrong with this code. When I try with some other key values such as the key for connect application its working fine. Can anyone help me with this... Thanx in advance...

  • Remembering state: content offset and table cell reuse.

    - by Attacus
    I have a tableview with cells that have a scrollview in them. The scrollview is paged, 2 pages to be exact, and is meant to be able to quickly compare two small blocks of text. I'm trying to find a way to remember what the content offset of the scrollview is. Cell reuse is killing me. I've tried resetting the offset in prepareForReuse or directly in the cellForRowAtIndexPath, but it seems to give me exactly what you'd expect: Randomly offset tablecells after reuse. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Sharing NSMutableArray

    - by Lucas Veiga
    Hey everbody, im trying to share a NSMutableArray to another xib. The cartList.codigo is a NSMutableArray from a shared class, according to James Brannan's tutorial (http://www.vimeo.com/12164589). When i count it, it gives me 1. But when i load the another view, gives me 0. Whats wrong? View that adds: self.produtoCodigo = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; [self.produtoCodigo addObject:@"aa"]; CartViewController *carrinho = [[CartViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"CartViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; CartList *lista = [[CartList alloc] init]; carrinho.cartList = lista; carrinho.cartList.codigo = self.produtoCodigo; NSLog(@"QTD %i", [carrinho.cartList.codigo count]); View that wants to load the item added: - (void) viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { self.produtoCodigo = self.cartList.codigo; NSLog(@"%i", [self.produtoCodigo count]); [super viewDidLoad]; } Im loading the CartList class in both. Thanks!

  • UIView surface Detection

    - by Sanjay Darshil
    In my code I crated two UIView View1 and View2 out of which View2 rotates on finger touch using CGAffineTransform and View1 is drawn like Arrow shaped (triangle) using CGContext. The View1 is steady view (fixed) which Points (shown directed Up) to the Surface of View2 , So I want to detect the View2 surface points when it stopped rotation and appears in front of the view1. How can I made this possible to detect the UIView Surface when it appears in front of another UIView?

  • NSCoding and ostream

    - by Stephen Furlani
    Is there a better way to serialize an ObjC object than using /NSKeyedArchive? I need to distribute the object through a C++ std:ostream-like object to put on another computer. The object has over 122 members of various types... for which wants me to [coder encodeObject: (id) forKey: @"blah"]; for all of them... Does anyone have a nice Perl Script that will at least write it out? I don't even know if the objects it contains implement which means this could turn into a huge ugly mess since I can't change the source of the object - I'll have to inherit & add the @interface to it... Or am I being dumb? Apple's guide doesn't help me since archiving to XML won't pass nicely though the ostream. Is there a better way to do this? -S!

  • Optimizing NSNumber numberWithInt:

    - by Riviera
    I am profiling an iPhone app and I noticed a strange pattern. In a certain block of code that's called quite frequently... [item setQuadrant:[NSNumber numberWithInt:a]]; [item setIndex:[NSNumber numberWithInt:b]]; [item setTimestamp:[NSNumber numberWithInt:c]]; [item setState:[NSNumber numberWithInt:d]]; [item setCompletionPercentage:[NSNumber numberWithInt:e]]; [item setId_:[NSNumber numberWithInt:f]]; ...the first call to [NSNumber numberWithInt:] takes an inordinate amount of time, in the order of 10-15x that of the remaining calls. I've verified that the results are consistent if I shuffle the lines (the first line is always the slow one, by the same ratio). Is there something going on that I'm not aware of? Perhaps this happens because this block is inside a try/catch?

  • How to pass an int value on UIButton click inside UITableView

    - by Toran Billups
    So I have a view controller with a single UITableView that shows a string to the user. But I needed a way to have the user select this object by id using a normal UIButton so I added it as a subview and the click event works as expected. The issue is this - how can I pass an int value to this click event? I've tried using attributes of the button like button.tag or button.accessibilityhint without much success. How do the professionals pass an int value like this? Also it's important that I can get the actual [x intValue] from the int later in the process. A while back I thought I could do this with a simple NSLog(@"the actual selected hat was %d", [obj.idValue intValue]); But this doesn't appear to work (any idea how I can pull the actual int value directly from the variable?). The working code I have is below - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } if ([self.hats count] > 0) { Hat* obj = [self.hats objectAtIndex: [indexPath row]]; NSMutableString* fullName = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; [fullName appendFormat:@"%@", obj.name]; [fullName appendFormat:@" %@", obj.type]; cell.textLabel.text = fullName; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton; //add the button to subview hack UIButton* button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.frame = CGRectMake(50, 5, 50, 25); [button setTitle:@"Select" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; button.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; button.adjustsImageWhenHighlighted = YES; button.tag = obj.idValue; //this is my current hack to add the id but no dice :( [button addTarget:self action:@selector(action:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [cell.contentView addSubview:button]; //hack } return cell; } - (void)action:(id)sender { int* hatId = ((UIButton *)sender).tag; //try to pull the id value I added above ... //do something w/ the hatId }

  • Error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'QTVisualContextRef'

    - by Moonlight293
    Hi everyone, I am currently getting this error message in my header code, and I'm not sure as to why: "Error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'QTVisualContextRef'" #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> #import <QTKit/QTKit.h> #import <OpenGL/OpenGL.h> #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> #import <CoreVideo/CoreVideo.h> @interface MyRecorderController : NSObject { IBOutlet QTCaptureView *mCaptureView; IBOutlet NSPopUpButton *videoDevicePopUp; NSMutableDictionary *namesToDevicesDictionary; NSString *defaultDeviceMenuTitle; CVImageBufferRef mCurrentImageBuffer; QTCaptureDecompressedVideoOutput *mCaptureDecompressedVideoOutput; QTVisualContextRef qtVisualContext; // the context the movie is playing in // filters for CI rendering CIFilter *colorCorrectionFilter; // hue saturation brightness control through one CI filter CIFilter *effectFilter; // zoom blur filter CIFilter *compositeFilter; // composites the timecode over the video CIContext *ciContext; QTCaptureSession *mCaptureSession; QTCaptureMovieFileOutput *mCaptureMovieFileOutput; QTCaptureDeviceInput *mCaptureDeviceInput; } @end In the examples I have seen through other code (e.g. Cocoa Video Tutorial) I have not seen any difference in their code to mine. If anyone would be able to point out as to how this error could have occurred that would be great. Thanks heaps! :)

  • preventing selection on MKPointAnnotation

    - by Derek
    Is there a way to prevent an annotation in a MKMapView instance from being enabled. In other words, when the user taps the red pin on the map, is there a way to prevent it from highlighting the pin. Right now the pin turns dark when touched... Edit: I'm using the following code to return the MKPinAnnotationView // To future MKMapView users - Don't forget to set _mapView's delegate _mapView.delegate = self; _annotation = [[MKPointAnnotation alloc] init]; _annotation.coordinate = myLocation; [_mapView addAnnotation:_annotation]; -(MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id<MKAnnotation>)annotation{ MKPinAnnotationView *pin = [[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:_annotation reuseIdentifier:@"id"]; pin.enabled = NO; return pin; }

  • Core data fetch only returns unique managed objects

    I execute a core data fetch which specifies a predicate as follows: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"identifier IN %@", favoritesIDs]; When there are duplicate items in the favoriteIDs array, the fetch request only returns 1 managed object. How can I ensure that more than one instance is fetched? Thank you.

  • How should I handle header files in a bundle?

    - by ldiqual
    I want to develop a program that relies on plugins (here: loadable bundles) to work. Multiple plugins are asked to use the same AFNetworking ressource to make network requests. However, I don't know where to put AFNetworking and CustomPluginProtocol headers. Here is how my program structure looks like for now: MyApp.xcodeproj - AFNetworking - Header.h - Plugins - Plugin1.xcodeproj - PrincipalClass.m - Plugin2.xcodeproj - PrincipalClass.m - Classes - CustomPluginProtocol.h - MainClass.m Of course, every principalClass from PluginN complies to the CustomPluginProtocol. Do the headers have to be copied in each bundle ? Can I just include the main program AFNetworking headers from my plugins ? If so (and that's what I do for now), I don't have any completion. How can I get it ? Edit Ok, so maybe I wasn't clear in my question. I want my plugins to use sources from the main application, let's say CommonClass.m and CommonClass.h. Do the plugins need CommonClass.h in their bundle, and if not, how do I enable completion when I'm in the plugin scope ?

  • How to fix a slow scrolling table view

    - by hanumanDev
    I have a table view that's scrolling slowly. Does anyone know why that might be? There is an image for each row, but even after the images are loaded it still stutters and scrolls slowly. thanks for any help here's my code: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *simpleTableIdentifier = @"SimpleTableCell"; SimpleTableCell *cell = (SimpleTableCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"SimpleTableCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } // Get item from tableData NSDictionary *item = (NSDictionary *)[displayItems objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // display the youdeal deal image photoString = [item objectForKey:@"image"]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:photoString]]]; cell.titleLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"supercat"]; cell.descriptionLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"title"]; NSString *convertedLeftCount = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[item objectForKey:@"left_count"]]; cell.amountLabel.text = convertedLeftCount; cell.thumbnailImageView.image = image; cell.priceLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"cat"]; return cell; }

  • 2 Shaders using the same vertex data

    - by Fonix
    So im having problems rendering using 2 different shaders. Im currently rendering shapes that represent dice, what i want is if the dice is selected by the user, it draws an outline by drawing the dice completely red and slightly scaled up, then render the proper dice over it. At the moment some of the dice, for some reason, render the wrong dice for the outline, but the right one for the proper foreground dice. Im wondering if they aren't getting their vertex data mixed up somehow. Im not sure if doing something like this is even allowed in openGL: glGenBuffers(1, &_vertexBuffer); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, _vertexBuffer); glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, numVertices*sizeof(GLfloat), vertices, GL_STATIC_DRAW); glEnableVertexAttribArray(effect->vertCoord); glVertexAttribPointer(effect->vertCoord, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); glEnableVertexAttribArray(effect->toon_vertCoord); glVertexAttribPointer(effect->toon_vertCoord, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); im trying to bind the vertex data to 2 different shaders here when i load my first shader i have: vertCoord = glGetAttribLocation(TexAndLighting, "position"); and the other shader has: toon_vertCoord = glGetAttribLocation(Toon, "position"); if I use the shaders independently of each other they work fine, but when i try to render both one on top of the other they get the model mixed up some times. here is how my draw function looks: - (void) draw { [EAGLContext setCurrentContext:context]; glBindVertexArrayOES(_vertexArray); effect->modelViewMatrix = mvm; effect->numberColour = GLKVector4Make(numbers[colorSelected].r, numbers[colorSelected].g, numbers[colorSelected].b, 1); effect->faceColour = GLKVector4Make(faceColors[colorSelected].r, faceColors[colorSelected].g, faceColors[colorSelected].b, 1); if(selected){ [effect drawOutline]; //this function prepares the shader glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLES, numIndices, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, 0); } [effect prepareToDraw]; //same with this one glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLES, numIndices, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, 0); } this is what it looks like, as you can see most of the outlines are using the wrong dice, or none at all: links to full code: http://pastebin.com/yDKb3wrD Dice.mm //rendering stuff http://pastebin.com/eBK0pzrK Effects.mm //shader stuff http://pastebin.com/5LtDAk8J //my shaders, shouldn't be anything to do with them though TL;DR: trying to use 2 different shaders that use the same vertex data, but its getting the models mixed up when rendering using both at the same time, well thats what i think is going wrong, quite stumped actually.

  • How to check if a BOOL is null?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    Is there a way I can check to see if a value is NULL/Nil before assigning it to a BOOL? For example, I have a value in a NSDictionary that can be either TRUE/FALSE/NULL mySTUser.current_user_following = [[results objectForKey:@"current_user_following"]boolValue]; When the value is NULL I get the following error *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSNull boolValue]: unrecognized selector sent to instance I would like to be able to handle the NULL case.

  • Autorelease and properties

    - by ganuke
    I have few questions to ask about the following class #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface SomeObject { NSString *title; } @property (retain) NSString *title; @end implementation SomeObject @synthesize title; -(id)init { if (self=[super init]) { self.title=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"allyouneed"]; } return self; } -(void)testMethod{ self.title=[[NSString alloc] init] ; } -(void)dealloc { self.title=nil; [super dealloc]; } In the .h file do we need to declare the title and sub when we add the property. is it not enough to add the @property (retain) NSString *title; line. 2.Do i need to autorelease both assignment to title in the init and testMethod. if So why? Can some one explain these things to me.
