• Confusion over manual/automatic sizing of Flash Sprite Objects

  If I have a custom class subclassing Sprite and it draws some simple objects, how does this work with respect to the Sprite.width & Sprite.height properties? It seems I can draw (for example) a rectangle of any size, bigger than the Sprite size. Similarly if I set the width/height properties, what happens to the content already drawn? As a use-case, I might have a stick-man which is drawn as a set of lines, I want to set the man's height and the rendering is scaled to this. Are there any issues with width/height being auto-calculated or am I misunderstanding what these properties actually mean?

  Hi, Does does class/object models have a out-of-the-box equivalent to a database foreign key constraint? Assume the language is C# please. That is say Class A has a field that references Class B and vica-versa. If I have Object A & B (instantiated from these classes) what happens if I delete Object B? Does it auto-delete or throw a constraint issue if it still exists in Object A as a reference? That is, for this scenario is there a way to ensure when a Object A is delete that either (a) object B is delete like a cascade delete, or (b) a constraint exception is thrown as the expectation is that the reference in Class B should be non-null?

• CSS+HTML: tds are overlapping

  On my web-site http://vfm-elita.com (it is not in English, sorry for that) - center and right columns are overlapping, please see screenshot for details: Between left and center columns you can see a "gap" with a green background - it is expected and good. But there are no any gap between center and right columns, instead they are overlapping. Issue exists in all known browsers There are no special formatting applied to columns. They are usual 'TD' columns, the only CSS modifier is width that is "250px" for left and right columns, and for center - it is "auto". Please advise how can I correct that error. Thanks a lot!

• .NET web service call slower when performed asynchronously

  I have an ASP.NET site, and some pages need to call a web service. I used Visual Studio's "Add Web Reference" to auto-generate classes and methods for the web service. When I call the service synchronously, i.e. objService.MethodName("param1"), a call might take a second or so. When I call it asynchronously, i.e., objService.BeginMethodName("param1", AddressOf MyCallback, Nothing), it typically takes about 6 seconds. When debugging, it appears that the bulk of the time is spent waiting between the completion of the BeginMethodName call and the beginning of MyCallback. Does the thread switching really incur that much overhead? Is there another reason for this?

  I have some logic in before_save whereby (only) when some conditions are met I let the new row be created with special_number equal to the maximum special_number in the database + 1. (If the conditions aren't met then I do something different, so I can't use auto-increments) My worry is that two threads acting on this database at once might pick the same special_number if the second is executed while the first is saving. Is there way to lock the database between before_save and finishing the save, but only in some cases? I know all saves are sent in transactions, will this do the job for me? def before_save if things_are_just_right # -- Issue some kind of lock? # -- self.lock?   I have few buttons on my jsp page and I am using the style as : .buttonblue { background-color: #003366; border-color: #99CCFF; color: #FFFFFF; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica; font-size: 8pt; font-weight: bold; height: 20px; display:inline; line-height: 1.2; text-align: center; margin-top: 2px; } In Firefox the buttons are bit smaller than IE6. I can not define the size of buttons as the caption changes the button size changes accordingly. I tried with width:auto but no success. Also, with overflow:visible the buttons in IE becomes bit smaller. Please help.

  Currently me and my friend are developing a website, for what we will call 'projects' we just have a basic auto increment id in the database used to navigate to projects such as oururl.com/viewproject?id=1 but we started thinking, if we have alot of posted projects thats going to be a LONG url. So we need to somehow randomly generate a alphanumerical string about 6 characters long. We want the chance of the string being duplicated being extremely low and of course we will query the database before assigning an identifier. Thanks for anyhelp, means alot!

  Does anybody know how to center align a DIV that has the display set to inline-block? I cannot set the display to block because I have a background image that needs to be repeated, and it needs to expand based on the content. It sits inside of a parent div, in which is larger when it comes to width. So all in all. Does anyone have a fix to center align a div with the display set to inline-block? • copy an identity column into another table

  I have 2 tables that are related,both have identity columns for primary keys and i am using a vb form to insert data into them,My problem is that i cannot get the child table to get the primary key of the parent table and use this as its foreign key in my database. the data is inserted fine though no foreign key constraint is made.I am wondering if a trigger will do it and if so how. All my inserting of data is done in vb. The user wont insert any keys. all these are identity columns that are auto generated. If a trigger is my way out please illustrate with an example.   In PHP, I had this line matches = preg_grep('/^for/', array_keys($hash)); What it would do is it would grab the words: fork, form etc. that are in $hash. In Python, I have a dict with 400,000 words. It's keys are words I'd like to present in an auto-complete like feature (the values in this case are meaningless). How would I be able to return the keys from my dictionary that match the input? For example (as used earlier), if I have my_dic = t{"fork" : True, "form" : True, "fold" : True, "fame" : True} and I get some input "for", It'll return a list of "fork", "form", "fold"

• TSQL Prefixing String Literal on Insert - Any Value to This, or Redundant?

  I just inherited a project that has code similar to the following (rather simple) example: DECLARE @Demo TABLE ( Quantity INT, Symbol NVARCHAR(10) ) INSERT INTO @Demo (Quantity, Symbol) SELECT 127, N'IBM' My interest is with the N before the string literal. I understand that the prefix N is to specify encoding (in this case, Unicode). But since the select is just for inserting into a field that is clearly already Unicode, wouldn't this value be automatically upcast? I've run the code without the N and it appears to work, but am I missing something that the previous programmer intended? Or was the N an oversight on his/her part? I expect behavior similar to when I pass an int to a decimal field (auto-upcast). Can I get rid of those Ns?

Is there a way I can 'unadd' everything? There's about 7 files I wanted to add... it's now highlighted an extra 500+ auto-generated files I didn't mean to add!   How is it possible to auto start my application or run a process when the user turns on the phone. If you look at ex. Outloock WP7 included in the operating system then updates the icon so that you can see that there are new mail. This is a process in the background running. But I've read a bit about this now, but can not find out that this is possible using the SDK from Microsoft? Is it not possible?? If possible, how does one do that? Notice: I do not want any solution that involves jailbreak.

  I've run into something odd in a .NET CF 2.0 project for Pocket PC 2003 (Visual Studio 2005). I was dealing with a System.IO.Stream object and found that the IDE wouldn't auto-complete the Dispose() method. I typed it in manually and received: 'System.IO.Stream.Dispose(bool)' is inaccessible due to its protection level The error is referring to the protected Dispose(bool) method. Dispose() is either private or not present. Question 1: How is this possible? Stream implements IDisposable: public abstract class Stream : MarshalByRefObject, IDisposable ... and IDisposable requires a Dispose() method: public interface IDisposable { void Dispose(); } I know the compiler won't let me get away with that in my code. Question 2: Will I cause problems by working around and disposing my streams directly? IDisposable idisp = someStream; idisp.Dispose(); The implicit cast is accepted by the compiler.

  Hello, I have a mysql table. It has auto increment on the id. but I regularly delete rows so the numbers are all over the place. I need to get the last n rows out, but because of deletions, the common way of using the max of the autoincremented id column doesn't work well... 1 - Is their another way to get the bottom 50? 2 - Is their a way to get rows by actual row number? so if I have 4 rows labelled 1,2,3,4 delete row 2 then it will become 1,2,3 rather than 1,3,4?

  Hey guys I'm putting data from website (json) to sql base. In db i have these rows. ID | PostId | Name | Message Id is auto-increment primary key. PostId also has a unique values. Name and Message are nothing special. When I run my script / click on the button in form / ... , the program saves all the values into database (lets say there are 25). Next time I'm going to press the button there will be added 25 more records (all duplicates), and so on... Is there a way that the program can check through 'PostIds' if the value already exists before adding it to the db? Thanks

  I didn't find solution for my problem with two QLayouts. I need app with QHBoxLayout with possible expandind when I will add new widgets, push buttons, .... So what I have: One QDialog and two layouts. Now I know that I can't hide the layout. So I tray just : layout()->removeItem(firstlayout); layout()->addLayout(secondLayout); But when I did this, I saw all items in first layout on possition [0,0]. So next step I try: for (all items in first layout) if (widget) widget->hide(); But this is working only with QWidget and I have many different items in layouts. Simply way is use the widget, because there is possibole to use hide/show, but I need auto expanding window when I add new items.
