  • double left MYSQL join?

    - by Haroldo
I've been trying left joins but as there are 2 joins, i think the problem is the 2nd join roots from table_B not table_A. i am not getting any results where there is the required data in the db. I am not getting a query error the query (simplified) SELECT events.*, ven.*, events_genres.* FROM events LEFT JOIN ven //OPTIONAL JOIN ON events.ven_id = ven.ven_id //OPTIONAL JOIN LEFT JOIN events_genres //REQUIRED JOIN ON events.event_id = events_genres.event_id //REQUIRED JOIN WHERE events.date >= '$this->now' AND WHERE events_genres.g_id = $g_id //REQUIRED MATCH ORDER BY date ven = optional, i'll have the info if its there. events_genres = required, i dont want any results that do not have a genre

  • MYSQL : First and last record of a grouped record (aggregate functions)

    - by Jimmy
I am trying to do fectch the first and the last record of a 'grouped' record. More precisely, I am doing a query like this SELECT MIN(low_price), MAX(high_price), open, close FROM symbols WHERE date BETWEEN(.. ..) GROUP BY YEARWEEK(date) but I'd like to get the first and the last record of the group. It could by done by doing tons of requests but I have a quite large table. Is there a [low processing time if possible] way to do this with MySQL?

  • ERD-CLASS design

    - by Mahesh
Hello guyz,i am new to daatbase and class diagram.I just get scenarios from internet and try to develop ERD and Class Diagram for them. But the following scenario has caused me some problems, and i am not sure about my design. "Whenever an employee fills leave application form, the leave application should be appeared for approval to his/her team leader. Team Leader has the option to change the date of requested leave and to approve or reject the leave. Employee also has the option to change date of previously unapproved leaves or to cancel any of unapproved leave. In case of team leader, he can approve his own leaves. Management should be able to create categories of leaves like (Casual, Sick, Planned work, etc) and should be able to adjust the days allocated to each type of leave". I have identified these as entities for ERD 1) Employee(I think i dont need to make entity for Technical lead, since he is an employee) 2) LeaveHistory 3) LeaveCategory Plz correct me if the system need more classes or entities

    - by Stan Forrest
Okay I have been struggling with this for hours. What I am doing is creating array of what I call objects that can be moved around on a calendar. Below is my code $year = date('Y'); $month = date('m'); echo json_encode(array( array( 'id' => 111, 'title' => "Event3", 'start' => "$year-$month-10", 'url' => "http://domain.com/" ), array( 'id' => 222, 'title' => "Event2", 'start' => "$year-$month-20", 'end' => "$year-$month-22", 'url' => "http://domain.com/" ) )); Now here is my problem. • how to test or describe endless possibilities?

    - by koen
Example class in pseudocode: class SumCalculator method calculate(int1, int2) returns int What is a good way to test this? In other words how should I describe the behavior I need? test1: canDetermineSumOfTwoIntegers or test2: returnsSumOfTwoIntegers or test3: knowsFivePlusThreeIsEight Test1 and Test2 seem vague and it would need to test a specific calculation, so it doesn't really describe what is being tested. Yet test3 is very limited. What is a good way to test such classes?

  • Why would Ruby fail equality on 2 floats that appear the same?

    - by btelles
Hi there, I have a calculation that generates what appears to be the Float 22.23, and a literal 22.23 like so: some_object.total => 22.23 some_object.total.class => Float 22.23 => 22.23 22.23.class => Float But for some reason, the following is false: some_object.total == 22.23 ? true : false Wacky, right? Is there some kind of precision mechanism being used that maybe isn't completely transparent through the some_object.total call?

  • How would I go about building a calendar UI control for the iPhone/iPad?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
Hello. There are a few different 3rd party code frameworks that include calendar controls, but most of them have a lot of functionality I don't need, plus most of them lack sufficient documentation on how to use them and I'm not a proficient enough iPhone developer figure it out using just the code. So I'm going to attempt to build my own and I was hoping you could provide me with some high-level direction to get started. At a high level, how could I build a simple, calendar control that doesn't do much more than display a calendar (month view, with the current date highlighted) and allows the user to selected a date? Something that looks like the calendar in the upper right corner of this image... Thanks so much in advance for your help!

  • Calculate hours difference in datetime

    - by ScG
    I have a series of datetime values. I want to select records with a difference of 2 or more hours between them. 2010-02-11 08:55:00.000 2010-02-11 10:45:00.000 2010-02-11 10:55:00.000 2010-02-11 12:55:00.000 2010-02-11 14:52:00.000 2010-02-11 16:55:00.000 2010-02-11 17:55:00.000 2010-02-11 23:55:00.000 2010-02-12 00:55:00.000 2010-02-12 02:55:00.000 Expected (The next date compared is with the last date that qualified for the 2 hr difference): 2010-02-11 08:55:00.000 2010-02-11 10:55:00.000 2010-02-11 12:55:00.000 2010-02-11 16:55:00.000 2010-02-11 23:55:00.000 2010-02-12 02:55:00.000 I am using SQL 2005 or 2008

  • SQL: Find difference between dates with grouping

    - by ajbeaven
I have a problem that seems similar to this fellow - I just want to display the data slightly differently. I'm pretty terrible with SQL so can't modify it to suit, but perhaps someone else can. My table looks similar to this (date format is dd/mm/yyyy): ID User Date_start Role 1 Andy 01/04/2010 A 2 Andy 10/04/2010 B 3 Andy 20/04/2010 A 4 John 02/05/2010 A I want to show the total number of days that anyone was in a certain role. Users stay in the role until there is another entry into the table. Users can only be in one role at a time. So the summary data would look like this (assuming that the date is 04/05/2010): A: 26 days B: 10 days Thanks for any help :)

  • Android listview array adapter selected

    - by João Melo
    i'm trying to add a contextual action mode to a listview, but i'm having some problems with the selection, if i make aList1.setSelection(position) it doesn't select anything, and if i make List1.setItemChecked(position, true) it works but it only changes the font color a little and i want it to change the background or something more notable, is there any way to detect the selection and manually and change the background, or i'm missing something? the list: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" > <ListView android:id="@+id/list1" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:choiceMode="singleChoice" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false"> </ListView> </RelativeLayout> the adapter: public class ServicesRowAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<String[]> { private final Activity context; private final ArrayList<String[]> names; static class ViewHolder { public TextView Id; public TextView Date; public RelativeLayout statusbar,bglayout; } public ServicesRowAdapter(Activity context, ArrayList<String[]> names) { super(context, R.layout.servicesrowlayout, names); this.context = context; this.names = names; } @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View rowView = convertView; if (rowView == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = context.getLayoutInflater(); rowView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.servicesrowlayout, null); ViewHolder viewHolder = new ViewHolder(); viewHolder.Id = (TextView) rowView.findViewById(R.id.idlabel); viewHolder.Date = (TextView) rowView.findViewById(R.id.datelabel); rowView.setTag(viewHolder); } ViewHolder holder = (ViewHolder) rowView.getTag(); holder.Date.setText(names.get(position)[2]); holder.Id.setText(names.get(position)[1]); return rowView; } } with the use of a layout: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <TextView android:id="@+id/idlabel" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:gravity="right" android:text="@+id/idlabel" android:textSize="20dp" android:width="70dp" > </TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/datelabel" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@+id/datelabel" android:textSize="20dp" android:layout_marginLeft="90dp" > </TextView> </RelativeLayout

  • Java appliction design question

    - by ring bearer
Hi I have a hobby project, which is basically to maintain 'todo' tasks in the way I like. One task can be described as: public class TodoItem { private String subject; private Date dueBy; private Date startBy; private Priority priority; private String category; private Status status; private String notes; } as you can imagine I would have 1000 todo items at a given time. What is the best strategy to store a todo item? (currently on an XML file) such that all the items are loaded quickly up on app start up(the application shows kind of a dashboard of all the items at start up) What is the best way to design its back-end so that it can be ported to android/or a J2ME based phone Currently this is done using java swing. What should be the concerns so that it works efficiently on a device where memory is limited? Thanks!

  • Need to work out database structure

    - by jim smith
Hi, Just need a little kickstart with this. I have Mysql/PHP, and I have 5,000 products. I have 30 companies I need to store some data for those 30 companies for each product as follows: a) prices b) stock qty I also need to store data historically on a daily basis. So the table... It makes sense that the records will be the products because there's 5000, and if I put the companies as the columns, I can store the prices, but what about the stock quantities? I could create two columns for each compoany, one for prices, one for qty. Then make the tablename the date for that day...so theer would be a new table for every day with 5000 products in it? is this the correct way? Some idea on how I'll be retreiving data the top 5 lowest prices (and the company) by product for a certain date the price and stock changes in the past 7 days by product

  • better way to write this

    - by ash34
Hi, I have to create a hash of the form h[:bill] = ["Billy", "NA", 20, "PROJ_A"] by login where 20 is the cumulative number of hours reported by the login for all task transactions returned by the query where each login has multiple reported transactions. Did I do this in a bad way or this seems alright. h = Hash.new Task.find_each(:include => [:user], :joins => :user, :conditions => ["from_date >= ? AND from_date <= ? AND category = ?", Date.today - 30, Date.today + 30, 'PROJ1']) do |t| h[t.login.intern] = [t.user.name, 'NA', h[t.login.intern].nil? ? (t.hrs_per_day * t.num_days) : h[t.login.intern][2] + (t.hrs_day * t.workdays), t.category] end Also if I have to aggregate not just by login but login and category how do I accomplish this? thanks, ash

  • iPhone App is leaking memory; Instruments and Clang cannot find the leak

    - by Norbert
Hi, i've developed an iPhone program which is kind of an image manipulation program: The user get an UIImagePickerController and selects an image. Then the program does some heavy calculating in a new thread (for responsiveness of the application). The thread has, of course, its own autorelease pool. When calculation is done, the seperated thread signals the main thread that the result can be presented. The app creates a new view controller, pushes it onto the navigation controller. In short: UIImagePickerController new thread (autorelease pool) does some heavy calculation with image data signal to main thread that it's done main thread creates view controller and pushes it onto navigation controller view controller presents image result My program works well, but if I dismiss the navigation controller's top view controller by tapping on the back button and repeat the whole process several times, my app crashes. But only on the device! Instruments cannot find any leaks (except for some minor ones which I don't feel responsible for: thread creation, NSCFString; overall about 10 kB). Even Clang static analyzer tells me that my could seems to be all right. I know that the UIImage class can cache images and objects returned from convenience methods get freed only whet their autorelease pool gets drained. But most of the time I work with CGImageRef and I use UIImage' alloc, init & release methods to free memory as soon as possible. Currently, I don't know how to isolate the problem. How would you approach this problem? • LinqToSql: insert instead of update

    - by Christina Mayers
    I am stuck with this problems for a long time now. Everything I try to do is insert a row in my DB if it's new information - if not update the existing one. I've updated many entities in my life before - but what's wrong with this code is beyond me (probably something pretty basic) I guess I can't see the wood for the trees... private Models.databaseDataContext db = new Models.databaseDataContext(); internal void StoreInformations(IEnumerable<EntityType> iEnumerable) { foreach (EntityType item in iEnumerable) { EntityType type = db.EntityType.Where(t => t.Room == iEnumerable.Room).FirstOrDefault(); if (type == null) { db.EntityType.InsertOnSubmit(item); } else { cur.Date = item.Date; cur.LastUpdate = DateTime.Now(); cur.End = item.End; } } } internal void Save() { db.SubmitChanges(); }

  • Create a SQL query to retrieve most recent records

    - by mattruma
I am creating a status board module for my project team. The status board allows the user to to set their status as in or out and they can also provide a note. I was planning on storing all the information in a single table ... and example of the data follows: Date User Status Notes ------------------------------------------------------- 1/8/2009 12:00pm B.Sisko In Out to lunch 1/8/2009 8:00am B.Sisko In 1/7/2009 5:00pm B.Sisko In 1/7/2009 8:00am B.Sisko In 1/7/2009 8:00am K.Janeway In 1/5/2009 8:00am K.Janeway In 1/1/2009 8:00am J.Picard Out Vacation I would like to query the data and return the most recent status for each user, in this case, my query would return the following results: Date User Status Notes ------------------------------------------------------- 1/8/2009 12:00pm B.Sisko In Out to lunch 1/7/2009 8:00am K.Janeway In 1/1/2009 8:00am J.Picard Out Vacation I am try to figure out the TRANSACT-SQL to make this happen? How are g,a,p and b selected anyway?

  • Find missing birth days in Apple Addressbook

    - by Felix Ogg
I am trying to clean the holes out of my Mac address book. As a first step I want to ask all my friends for their birth day, to be able to congratulate them with cheesy Hallmark cards. I need a "group" in my address book, to mailmerge personalized messages from. This is the Applescript I came up with: tell application "Address Book" make new group with properties {name:"No Birthday"} set birthdayPeople to (get every person whose birth date is greater than date "Monday, January 1, 1900 12:00:00 AM") repeat with i from 1 to number of items in people set thePerson to item i of people if not (birthdayPeople contains thePerson) then add thePerson to group "No Birthday" end if end repeat save end tell It breaks, but from the error messages I cannot deduce what is wrong: Result: error "Can’t make «class azf4» id \"05F770BA-7492-436B-9B58-E24F494702F8:ABPerson\" of application \"Address Book\" into type vector." number -1700 from «class azf4» id "05F770BA-7492-436B-9B58-E24F494702F8:ABPerson" to vector (BTW: Did I mention this is my first AppleScript code, EVER? So, if this code can be simplified, or made more elegant, that is welcome too.)

  • tsql proc logic help

    - by bacis09
I am weak in SQL and need some help working through some logic with my proc. Three pieces: store procedure, table1, table2 Table 1 stores most recent data for specific IDs Customer_id status_dte status_cde app_dte 001 2010-04-19 Y 2010-04-19 Table 2 stores history of data for specific customer IDs: For example: Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 001 2010-04-20 N 02 001 2010-04-19 Y 03 001 2010-04-19 N 04 001 2010-04-19 Y The stored proecure currently throws an error if the status date from table1 is < than app_date in table1. If @status_dte < app_date Error Note: @status_dte is a variable stored as the status_dte from table1 However, I want it to throw an error when the EARLIEST status_dte from table 2 with a status_cde of 'Y' is less than the app_dte column in table 1. Keep in mind that this earliest date is not stored anywhere, the history of data changes per customer. Another customer might have the following history. Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 002 2010-04-20 N 02 002 2010-04-18 N 03 002 2010-04-19 Y 04 002 2010-04-19 Y Any ideas on how I can approach this?

  • Object sent -autorelease too many times

    - by mongeta
I have this code that simple returns Today's date as a string formatted: +(NSString*) getTodayString_YYYY_MM_DD { NSDate * today = [NSDate date]; NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [formatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd"]; return [[formatter stringFromDate:today] autorelease]; } With instruments I'm not getting a memory leak, but when I Analyze, XCode says: Object sent -autorelease too many times If I understand correctly, I have to release manually the formatter as I'm creating it using 'alloc', but I can't release here because I have to return the value, so I add the autorelease. How I can do it better to improve it ? thanks, r.
