• The SharePoint Search Dropdown shows only This site as the scope.

  Hi All, I have a team site in which the Search scope dropdown only shows This site and it doesn't show All Sites and People in the dropdown.Any one knows why? I have not enabled Custom scopes in Search settings for this site because I don't have Search Center created. If I create search center and specify as a custom scope in this site I can see all 3 scopes in the dropdown. I am just trying to understand whether I need to have Search Center created to have all these shared scopes getting displayed in the Search Scopes drop down?

• Service Broker not working after database restore

  Have a working Service Broker set up on a server, we're in the process of moving to a new server but I can't seem to get Service Broker set up on the new box. Have done the obvious (to me) things like Enabling Broker on the DB, dropping the route, services, contract, queues and even message type and re adding them, setting ALTER QUEUE with STATUS ON SELECT * FROM sys.service_queues gives me a list of the queues, including my own two, which show as activation_enabled, receive_enabled etc. Needless to say the queues aren't working. When I drop messages into them nothing goes in and nothing comes out. Any ideas? I'm sure there's something really obvious I've missed...

• Drupal form being rendered before submit action

  I have a Drupal module page where I am populating a form with a drop-down that contains a list of available parts of a set of files that the user can upload. Once the user uploads a file of a certain type, it removes that option from the list, and when all the available files are uploaded the form will not be rendered. The problem is that Drupal is drawing the form before it carries out the submit action, so it appears to the user that the operation didn't work until they reload the page. What is the common way to deal with this? Setting form_state['redirect'] to go to the page doesn't seem to work.

  I often want to take out a subpart from an Enumerable. The subpart is sometimes at the beginning and sometimes the end of the original Enumerable instance, and the length used to specify the subpart is sometimes that of the subpart and sometimes its complement. That gives four possibilities, but I only know how to do three of them. Is there a way to do the fourth one?   I have to write an app for iPad that would take data from SQL Server and post it to the iPad. I looked up on this over the Internet and found that i have to write a web service to expose the data from SQL server using ASP.NET. I did an app previously in android that would take data from my dropbox a/c and display it to the user. I made use of the drop-box api available. I was wondering if anything like that exists for SQL? Also, i have to code in Obj-C for the iPad, so how will i write ASP.NET code? I have more doubts. Thanks in advance.

  Hello, I wanted to be able to create a effect identical to CSS3 text-shadow Property, making it available to browsers that doesn’t support this CSS3 Property (like IE 7 and 8). And so I found two plugins: Text Shadow and Drop Shadow Effect. I decided to use Text Shadow, because it was released in the end of 2008, and because it was more straightforward. This worked great for IE8. However in IE7 shadows have twice the distance to the text, and links are weird. IE8 image IE7 image I am searching for a fix, or an alternative to this problem.

• Master data validation in service layer

  User enters the data in the forms by choosing values from the master data drop downs in web layer. Data is populated in the dropdowns based on some logic from the master data tables and we know for sure that its a valid master data as far as web layer is concern. Now my question is, should be check the validity of the master data in service layer again because we want to use service layer for mulitple interfaces (Web User Interface, Web Services, Unit Test Cases etc.) or we should validate the master data in respective interfaces only.

• About the String#substring() method

  If we take a look at the String#substring method implementation : new String(offset + beginIndex, endIndex - beginIndex, value); We see that a new String is created with the same original content (parameter char [] value). So the workaround is to use new String(toto.substring(...)) to drop the reference to the original char[] value and make it eligible for GC (if no more references exist). I would like to know if there is a special reason that explain this implementation. Why the method doesn't create herself the new shorter String and why she keeps the full original value instead? The other related question is : should we always use new String(...) when dealing with substring?

• jQuery - Animation flicker using hover()

  I have a setup as described in this question which works perfectly. Essentially a drop down menu grows when you move your mouse over it to expose more options. There is, however, a small issue. If you move the mouse outside of the #dropdown div and then back in again quickly it constantly fires the mouseenter and mouseleave events causing a never ending cycle of flickering. How can I get around it?   Hi, Im loading an entity 'Member' from its id in route data. [ListItemsForMembershipType(true)] public ActionResult Edit(Member someMember) {...} The attribute on the action loads the membership type list items for a dropdown box and sticks it in viewdata. This is fine for add forms, and search forms (it gets all active items) but I need the attribute to execute BASED ON THE VALUE someMember.MembershipTypeId, because its current value must always be present when loading the item (i.e. all active items, plus the one from the loaded record). So the question is, what is the standard pattern for this? How can my attribute accept the value or should I be loading the viewdata for the drop down in a controller supertype or during model binding or something else? It is in an attribute now because the code to set the viewdata would otherwise be duplicated in each usage in each action.

• OutputPath ignored on projects being build by TFS 2010

  I have installed TFS2010 Beta 2 with default settings and configured a CI build with a solution containing the indivial projects. My *.cspoj files could have: <OutputPath>bin\debug\</OutputPath> Or alternatively: <OutDir>bin\debug\</OutDir> When the build server is done building and running tests etc. all the assemblies are placed in the root of the build drop off folder. How do I configure the build to keep the outputpath or outdir in my projects and store the assemblies and content in the matching folder structure( builddropfolder\bin\debug\ )? I have found a number of post on this most of them relates to TFS 2008 but I have not found solutions for TFS 2010. Perhaps it is possible to solve this in the new workflow file for the buildserver?

• Write a dll that is accessable from VS 2003 VC++ code

  I need to be able to write a DLL in either C# or VC++ that is accessible from code that is written in Visual Studio 2003 VC++. It looks like the code is unmanaged (uses * for pointers) VC++ and this DLL needs to be able to drop right in and be accessed by the current code. The DLL is an RS232 driver that needs to be able to return an int for an error code and pass back, by reference, some measured values, to the calling program. Will I even be able to write this in C#? If not, I only have access to Visual Studio 2005 or 2008. Will I be able to write my code in either, and will that DLL be able to be called from the current code base? Or do I have to go looking on ebay for a copy of VS 2003?

• How To Find the Control or Page a User Control is Embedded In

  I've written a web user control which I want to be able to drop into the markup for either aspx pages or other web user controls. I need my user control to be able to easily and efficiently work out if its inside another user control or an aspx page. My initial idea is to do it recursively with checks on the Parent property - continue looking up the nesting hierarchy until I find either a web form or a user control - but I'm not sure this the best way of going about this. • Warning vs. error

  I had an annoying issue, getting a "Possible loss of precision" error when compiling my Java program on BlueJ (But from what i read this isn't connected to a specific IDE). I was surprised by the fact that the compiler told me there is a possible loss of precision and wouldnt let me compile/run the program. Why is this an error and not a warning saying you might loose precision here, if you don't want that change your code? The program runs just fine when i drop the float values, it wouldn't matter since there is no point (e.g [143.08, 475.015]) on my screen. On the other hand when i loop through an ArrayList and in this loop i have an if clause removing elements from the ArrayList it runs fine, just throws an error and doesn't display the ArrayList [used for drawing circles] for a fraction of a second. This appears to me as a severe error but doesn't cause (hardly) any troubles, while i wouldn't want to have such a thing in my code at all. What's the boundary?

But when you drop down the tab to search: This Site: "blog site name" you get the following reply: No results matching your search were found. Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled correctly? Try using synonyms. Maybe what you're looking for uses slightly different words. Make your search more general. Try more general terms in place of specific ones. Try your search in a different scope. Different scopes can have different results.
