  • App.config path not correctly interpreted by ASP.NET Application

    Hello everyone ! I'm working on a very old project (2000) in VB6 which was "modernized" and upgraded to VB.NET 3.5. I've centralized every old INI configuration file into one MainApp.config, which is referenced by the app.config of every component. There's an VB ASP.NET website in the solution, which uses DLL components, which are looking into app.config for parameters like, say, error log directory, etc. I've deployed the site on my dev. server (Windows 2008 Server w/ IIS 7.0) into the D:\WebSite\ directory. Problem: When running the site, an error occurs. A DLL is looking into app.config for the parameter RepertoireErreur which has the value .\Erreurs\ Instead of returning D:\WebSite\Erreurs\ it returns c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\.\Erreurs\ which doesn't contain the Erreurs directory. Boom. Error. Does anyone have ever encountered the same problem ? Is there a solution ? Thanks,

  • Dom Traversal to Automate Keyboard Focus - Spatial Navigation

    I'm going to start with a little background that will hopefully help my question make more sense. I am developing an application for a television. The concept is simple and basically works by overlaying a browser over the video plane of the TV. Now being a TV, there is no mouse or additional pointing device. All interaction is done through a remote control. Therefore, the user needs to be able to visually tell which element they are currently focused upon. To indicate that an element is focused, I currently append a colored transparent image over the element to indicate focus. Now, when a user hits the arrow keys, I need to respond by focusing on the correct elements according to the key pressed. So, if the down arrow is pressed I need to focus on the next focusable element in the DOM tree (which may be a child or sibling), and if they hit the up arrow, I need to respond to the previous element. This would essentially simulate spatial navigation within a browser. I am currently setting an attribute (focusable=true) on any DOM elements that should be able to receive focus. What I would like to do is determine the previous or next focusable element (i.e. attribute focusable=true) and apply focus to the element. I was hoping to traverse the DOM tree to determine the next and previously focusable elements, but I am not sure how to perform this in JQuery, or in general. I was leaning towards trying to use the JQuery tree travesal methods like next(), prev(), etc. What approach would you take to solve this type of issue? Thanks

  • Tree iterator, can you optimize this any further?

    As a follow up to my original question about a small piece of this code I decided to ask a follow up to see if you can do better then what we came up with so far. The code below iterates over a binary tree (left/right = child/next ). I do believe there is room for one less conditional in here (the down boolean). The fastest answer wins! The cnt statement can be multiple statements so lets make sure this appears only once The child() and next() member functions are about 30x as slow as the hasChild() and hasNext() operations. Keep it iterative <-- dropped this requirement as the recursive solution presented was faster. This is C++ code visit order of the nodes must stay as they are in the example below. ( hit parents first then the children then the 'next' nodes). BaseNodePtr is a boost::shared_ptr as thus assignments are slow, avoid any temporary BaseNodePtr variables.     Hi, I’m working on optimizing some of my queries and I have a query that states: select * from SC where c_id ="+c_id” The schema of ** SC** looks like this: SC ( c_id int not null, date_start date not null, date_stop date not null, r_t_id int not null, nt int, t_p decimal, PRIMARY KEY (c_id, r_t_id, date_start, date_stop)); My immediate bid on how the index should be created is a covering index in this order: INDEX(c_id, date_start, date_stop, nt, r_t_id, t_p) The reason for this order I base on: The WHERE clause selects from c_id thus making it the first sorting order. Next, the date_start and date_stop to specify a sort of “range” to be defined in these parameters Next, nt because it will select the nt Next the r_t_id because it is a ID for a specific type of my r_t table And last the t_p because it is just a information. I don’t know if it is at all necessary to order it in a specific way when it is a SELECT ALL statement. I should say, that the SC is not the biggest table. I can say how many rows it contains but a estimate could be between <10 and 1000. The next thing to add is, that the SC, in different queries, inserts the data into the SC, and I know that indexes on tables which have insertions can be cost ineffective, but can I somehow create a golden middle way to effective this performance. Don't know if it makes a different but I'm using IBM DB2 version 9.7 database Sincerely Mestika

  • jQuery relative positioned hover

    I want a link to the next or previous image to appear when hovering over the main image, only I want the next link to appear when hovered over the right hand side, and previous on the left. I have looked at jQuery's .position() and I don't think I am understanding it very well. The project is composed by: resources and configuration files (VS project files, like: .settings .vbproj .myapp .config .xconfig .Designer.vb); a lot of VB codes; xsc, xsd, xss and xsx files; a lot of Crystal reports for VS2005; graphical resources. The application take data in order to generate reports from more DB SQL Server 2005 istances. What is the best way to approach to a migration activity? Is there an internal migration tool?   • Manipulating/changing adressbar link Help

    I am out of my own "ideas" going through this. I have a album viewer. When you click next I want the adressbar to hang with it, e.g if you start on ?photoid=1, and click next (next picture appends and stuff), and then i want it to say ?photoid=2. Now I cant make it say ?photoid=2 without changing/manipulating, and this you cant do without HTML5. I have made a script in HTML5 that works fine, but then I need to take care of those who dont have HTML5(only chrome, ff4 etc supports html5) Made the script from this( https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/Manipulating_the_browser_history ) I thought of adding #photoid=2 so, ?photoid=1#photoid=2 and then check if theres anything in # then use that instead of the $_GET.. But apparently you cannot do that as # is client side handled and never sent to the server. So what should I then do? Any suggestions please to make a workaround this? I checked facebook, what they did to IE users, and I could hear that it "clicked" (the annoying click sound from IE) twice.. the first was to get to the next picture, the second click sound changed the adressbar?!(how?). And then I also thought hey, html5 is only supported in ff4, and I got ff3.6, and they manipulate the adress bar url when you browse through the album photos, exactly like how I wanted (and what I have written for but it only works in Chrome and ff4..?). How could they do that?

What I would like to see here is (1) what production the parser was in when it expected the '"' (I've multiple ones) and (2) where in the input this production started parsing (which is an indicator where the opening quote is in the input). Does anybody know how I can improve the error messages and include more information about the actual internal parsing state when the error happens (perhaps something like a production rule stacktrace or whatever can be given reasonably here to better identify the error location). BTW, the above "line 32, column 1" is actually the EOT position and hence of no use here, of course.

    Is this a known issue? I had trouble finding any search results. When iterating over a ServiceLoader while an iteration already is in progress, the first iteration will be aborted. For example, assuming there are at least two implementations of Foo, the following code will fail with an AssertionError: ServiceLoader<Foo> loader = ServiceLoader.load(Foo.class); Iterator<Foo> iter1 = loader.iterator(); iter1.next(); Iterator<Foo> iter2 = loader.iterator(); while (iter2.hasNext()) { iter2.next(); } assert iter1.hasNext(); This only seems to occur, if the second iterator really terminates.     I am currently transitioning from VB to C# and am having some issues with regards to registering my interest in an event. When using VB it was simply a case of specifying that a method Handles and event, often this was generated by using the object events list. While I can easily use the Class.event += delegate in C# I am unsure where the best place is to place the code to do this. Am I best placing it inside of the InitializeComponent() as per the generated code (say if you select the event in the from designer) or should I place it inside the constructor for better readability/maintenance. If inside the constructor, should it be before or after the call to InitializeComponent()?

    Hi, I am not sure the correct terminology for the process that I am trying to describe. I don't even know which platform is underlying the technique. If you understand my description, please give the link to the site(s) and or the keyword name of the process. I think it is done by AJAX, but I am not certain. I use php as the backend code, I just need to find a way to dynamically display the results. Please give suggestions. I forgot the name of the sites that use this, and my link history expired. TIA Description: The page would have a search form and options. After the user submits, the search is initiated, and the results appear inside the dedicated result area. The page does not refresh, just the info inside the result area. The display area will show 20 (or whatever) results (lines). There will be next, and previous buttons. If you hit next, the next set of results will display. I am writing a code that generates 20 results for each display. There is no set number of results, so the results might have a start/first page, but do not have an end page. Each time the user hits 'next', the program would generate/load new results. It would also store previous results, so that when a user hits 'prev', the previous results can instantly come up. What techniques/program are theses?

  • "Inconsistent accessibility" on class definition

    I'm adding some bindable CLR properties to my ongoing WPF application in my App class and I can't compile because of this inconsistent accessibility error. Inconsistent Accessibility: Property type 'SomeProj.Error' is less accessible than property 'SomeProj.App.LatestError' To fix this error I had to change class Error to public class Error. In VB, classes were assumed public and most of the time omitted that access modifier. Is this not the case in C# as well? I only recently made the vb-c# jump and little nuances like this in the syntax slow me down.

    Does PHP calculate weeks as being Sunday - Saturday? For a given date I am trying to determine the beginning and ending date of it's week as well as the beginning date of the next/previous weeks.     I used to be visual basic 6 programmer, i was pleased with visual basic : it is high level language that do stuff fast,easy to learn, easy to do stuff in,you can drag and drop stuff to the form and write your code,it is simply amazing.however microsoft buried VB6 and pointed us to VB.NET which is so different that it is not the old VB anymore.I didn't like what microsoft did and would like to look somewhere AWAY from microsoft and from any other proprietary language . I would like to look into a similar language that is easy,cross platform (windows / Linux), object oriented, visual design, non proprietary and compile (for some guarding against reverse engineering). i am freelancer so the choice is entirely mine,i don't care about performance of programs, the time taken to develop a given programs is much more important. desktop / database / GUI /networking programming is what i am looking for. so any such language offered by our open source community ? thank you so much

  • Is object clearing/array deallocation really necessary in VB6/VBA (Pros/Cons?)

    Hello, A lot of what I have learned about VB I learned from using Static Code Analysis (Particularly Aivosto's Project Analyzer). And one one of things it checks for is whether or not you cleared all objects and arrays. I used to just do this blindly because PA said so. But now that I know a little bit more about the way VB releases resources, it seems to me that these things should be happening automatically. Is this a legacy feature from pre VB6, or is there a reason why you should explicitly set objects back to nothing and use Erase on arrays?

  • How to define large list of strings in Visual Basic

    I'm writing a macro in Visual Basic for PowerPoint 2010. I'd like to initialize a really big list of strings like: big_ol_array = Array( _ "string1", _ "string2", _ "string3", _ "string4" , _ ..... "string9999" _ ) ...but I get the "Too many line continuations" error in the editor. When I try to just initialize the big array with no line breaks, the VB editor can't handle such a long line (1000+) characters. Does anyone know a good way to initialize a huge list of strings in VB? Thanks in advance!
