New Version Demonstration VM BIC2g 2013-04 Partner Edition

Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This Oracle Business Intelligence Linux VM virtual appliance (“BIC2g”) was developed to support Oracle OBI & BI-Apps sales and Oracle partners in product demonstrations, training activities and POC activities. It is available on ftp.oracle.com (see the deployment guide and “BIC2g 2013-04 Partner Edition Readme” pdf from the link below) and is available for OPN member partners. This BIC2g image is based on OBIEE v. 11.1.1.7. with Essbase and Essbase Studio Server started when starting BI. It also contains: Updated BI-Apps Cross Functional Demo (date advanced from 2011 to 2013), including DAC 11.1.1.6.4, Informatica 9.0.1 and is configured for a load against EBS R12. Both the 7.9.6.3 rpd/catalog and the 7.9.6.4 rpd/catalog versions of BI-Apps are provided. Updated integrated Essbase - BI Apps - EBS Demo (date advanced from 2009 to 2013. Re-configured BI Apps Data Sets to remove VPD (simplification) and greatly improved performance. Note that this image is identical to Oracle’s internal BI demonstration image, except that Endeca has been removed pending Endeca latest version availability on OTN. Once it is available on OTN we will provide a replacement that contains Endeca. Some of the screen shots in the “Readme”.pdf shows Endeca, but it is not on this (2013-04) image. It didn't cause immediate issues, but I was warned by Readify Consultant Colin Savage about possible errors during deploymentsI haven't undone the changes immediately and we found a few issues during testing.There are many scenarios, when you need to have Copy Local’ left to True.The concerns are highlighted in some stack overflow answers, but they have small number of votes.Top-level projects: set copy local = true.First of all, it doesn't work correctly for top-level projects, i.e. executables or web sites.As pointed in the answer http://stackoverflow.com/a/6529461/52277for all the references in the one at the top set copy local = true.Alternatively you have to change output directory as it's described in http://www.simple-talk.com/dotnet/.net-framework/partitioning-your-code-base-through-.net-assemblies-and-visual-studio-projects/If you set ‘ Copy Local = false’, VS will, unless you tell it otherwise, place each assembly alone in its own .\bin\Debugdirectory. Because of this, you will need to configure VS to place assemblies together in the same directory. To do so, for each VS project, go to VS > Project Properties > Build tab > Output path, and set the Ouput path to ..\bin\Debugfor debug configuration, and ..\bin\Release for release configuration.Second-level dependencies: set copy local = true.Another example when copylocal =false fails on run-time, is when top level assembly doesn't directly referenced one of indirect dependencies.E..g. Top-level assembly A has reference to assembly B with copylocal =true, but assembly B has reference to assembly C with copylocal =false. Setting the Copy Local to false without considering deployment issues is not a good idea.

Detecting Process Shutdown/Startup Events through ActivationAgents

@10g - This post is motivated by one of my close friends and colleague - who wanted to proactively know when a BPEL process shuts down/re-activates. This typically happens when you have a BPEL Process that has an inbound polling adapter, when the adapter loses connectivity to the source system. Or whatever causes it. One valuable suggestion came in from one of my colleagues - he suggested I write my own ActivationAgent to do the job. Well, it really worked. Here is a sample ActivationAgent that you can use. There are few methods you need to override from BaseActivationAgent, and you are on your way to receiving notifications/what not, whenever the shutdown/startup events occur. In the example below, I am retrieving the emailAddress property [that is specified in your bpel.xml activationAgent section] and use that to send out an email notification on the activation agent initialization. You could choose to do different things. The library is ready for use after the server restarts. To use this activationAgent, add an additional activationAgent entry in the bpel.xml for the BPEL Process that you wish to monitor. After you deploy the process, the ActivationAgent object will be called back whenever the events mentioned in the overridden methods are raised. [init(), load(), unload(), uninit()]. Subsequently, your custom code is executed.
