  Something went wrong while I was attempting to restore a backup, and KDE System Guard ceased to display properly. This is the correct display (command running from root: kdesudo ksysguard): This is the incorrect display (command: ksysguard): Here in the incorrect display, the menu bar is missing, and the tab "Process Table" is unclickable. I have already tried to remove the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/ but to no avail. My question: How do I restore KSysGuard back to factory defaults/normal functionality?

• How can I quickly zoom in on the Mac OS X version of Word without having to use the menu?

  (I'm using the Mac version MS Word 2011) I used to happily use the wheel mouse to zoom but, after upgrading to the Mac Magic mouse (using only finger slide movement to scroll and pan) I can no longer hold Ctrl and roll the mouse to zoom (driving me crazy) and I can't see a useful keyboard shortcut and the zoom slider bar in the lower right of the Word screen isn't practical (in my experience). Is there any way to zoom in on the Mac Version of Microsoft Word 2011 without resorting to using a menu?

Yet, when there are errors and the quickfix window pops up, its status bar is cluttered up with the makeprg string: pdflatex\ \-file\-line\-error\ \-shell\-escape\ \-interaction=nonstopmode\ $*\\\|\ tee\ \/dev\/tty\ \\\|\ grep\ \-P\ ':\\d{1,5}:\ ' Is there a way of changing the quickfix title/statusbar?

• Dvorak hotkey remapping in vim, worth it?

  I've been trying to learn the dvorak keyboard layout of late and I have been making some good progress this time around. The trouble I am finding now is that all of my hotkeys are all in the wrong places. As a vim user this is particularly troubling. I have found good resources to switch the bindings back so that they are in the places in vim, but I wonder if this is worth it. I also use set -o vi in my ~/.zshrc file so that I can use the familiar bindings in the terminal as well. hjkl navigation is also featured in a number of other applications such as less. For those of you out there who have successfully made the switch, is it worth remapping things to be familiar again, or is it better in the long run to just deal with weirdly placed hotkeys?

• mplayer audio desync

  I have and avi file and an ac3 file that contains an alternate audio stream. I run mplayer like: mplayer -audiofile foo.ac3 bar.avi mplayer takes the audio stream from the ac3 file as expected, but when I try to scroll the video using arrows or pgup/pgdown keys, the audio gets desynced: mplayer just starts playing the audio stream from the beginning. Do I have to pass any additional command line arguments in order to make it scroll properly without desyncing audio?

• Viewing CHM Files Across The Network in Windows 7

  When I try to open .chm help from a network shared drive I receive the following error: Navigation to the webpage was canceled. I know about the .reg solution described on KB896054 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions] "MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001 but it does not work in Windows 7. Any ideas how to make .chm help available from the network drives? Edit: I have the network path mapped to P: drive letter. My program runs from P: and I want to see the help for it. Copying the program to local drive is not a solution for me.

• iPhone 3G refuses to transfer purchased apps to iTunes

  My iPhone 3G refuses to transfer purchased apps to iTunes. This is causing me major problems with syncing. Whenever I attempt to transfer apps from the iPhone to iTunes it goes through the motions, but never actually transfers anything. It displays the various apps in the info area at the top of the screen, but the progress bar never advances. In comparison when I sync other iPhones, using the same install of iTunes, the progress bar advances and apps are transferred. The same also happens on clean installs of iTunes on other computers, it seems to be my iPhone that is the common factor. I have tried restoring the phone from a backup, which makes no difference. This started happening months ago and the phone has since been upgraded to 3.0 and 3.1, but the problem still persists. Originally it was just a minor irritation, but I made and attempt to fix it which has made things worse. I deleted all the apps from with iTunes and then did "Transfer purchases" in the hope that it might fix something. It didn't fix anything. Also, I cannot now sync at all. If I do sync iTunes now does "transferring purchases", fails to transfer and then deletes all the apps (and data) from my iPhone. It also means I can't sync music, podcasts or anything else. I can't sync anything else, because I can't temporarily turn off app syncing because then iTunes warns that the apps on the iPhone will be deleted. I also tried de-authorising and re-authorising. What can I do to get app syncing working again ? P.S. I have considered deleting all the apps and reinstalling them one by one, in the hope that it will fix the problem. However I don't really want to embark on doing that for 55+ apps and re-entering login details etc for the apps that need them, especially as I might then find out it didn't solve the problem. Update: The latest update to iTunes 9 has improved things in one key aspect. If I let a sync run to completion iTunes no longer deletes all the apps from my phone. So I can now sync all my other data, even if I still can't sync my apps. Resolved: See my answer to the question for how I finally resolved the problem.

Now, we would like to host bar.foo.com at some other provider B - they have the domain set up with them, so I figure that I can do this by somehow adding the nameserver at provider B to the DNS configuration at provider A.   When using the task manager in Windows XP Pro, the amount of RAM that is listed as being used by the individual processes is not adding up to the total memory used (as listed by the total commit on the performance page). The total sum of all the RAM being used the the processes: 195604 K The amount in use as listed by performance page and the status bar: 280028 K 1) Why is this? 2) How do I reduce the amount of memory used?

  Is it possible to have an erroneous URL remain in the address bar while redirecting the user to a URL within my domain? I want www.domain.com/forum to be the actual site being served in all 404 circumstances but I don't want the referring URL to be rewritten (other than the domain portion, which is being done on the registrar level). • Issues importing PST into Archive Mailbox Exchange 2013

  I've completed a successful mailbox import request into the archive mailbox for a particular user. There are no errors to speak of and the size of the archive mailbox has grown to the expected size after import (approximately 6GB). However, in OWA I can't see any of the mail folders inside the archive mailbox, only Deleted Items and RSS feeds folders. However if I run some cmdlets to list the contents of the Archive Mailbox\Inbox folder in the Exchange Shell, the full list of subfolders will come up. If I do a mail item search on the archive mailbox, emails from those individual folders appear as search results! I just can't see the folders in the navigation pane and hence cannot browse any of my old emails. Any help would be appreciated.

  I am attempting to add several locations on my disk to my "Favorites" in Windows Explorer. I have used this feature in the 64bit version of Windows 7 without a problem, but it does not seem to work in this install. Here is my methodology so far. 1.) Go to a location in Windows Explorer "C:\users\Benjamin" 2.) Right click on the "favorites" in the left hand folder navigation window and select "Add current location to Favorites" It does not fire an error, but the location does not appear under favorites. What might be happening here to prevent "favorites" from populating?

  I have a few extensions next to my URL bar in chrome on windows 7. When I press any of them, or even the bookmark star, the text box that pops up is clear. I am using the following extensions: ablock plus, googleTranslate, firebugLite, ghostery, avastWebRep, Ultimate UserAgent switcher, Web developer toolbar, desprotetor de links, DNT plus, and WOT. I am set to block popups but not javascript in chrome and have a blackout theme installed. any ideas?

  In Outlook 2007, when in Calendar view, there's a category (group) of calendars on the left hand bar titled "People's Calendars". We're migrating from a system where all employees have access to read and write to all other employees' calendars (via a 3rd party Web Calendar). Is it possible, from an admin level, to auto-populate this People's Calendars category in everyone's Outlook with all the employees in the company, and grant everyone read / write access to everyone else's calendars?   Does anyone know how to tell windows 7 to bar a wireless network? It keeps logging into a random open one with no bandwidth my neighbors have instead of the good one we have here. I keep unchecking "automatically log in if available" and it keeps re-checking itself. I want it to NEVER log into this network no matter what without manual intervention. I do not want to disable auto connecting, just tell it "do not ever connect to this one without my express permission".

• Windows explorer doesn't open My Documents, Music or anything when clicking the library?

  I recently installed Windows 7, and for some reason my Libraries don't open to My Documents, Music and so on.. I can access my files by typing into the explorers address bar, but clicking anything doesn't do anything, it just stays on the same screen. What's wrong? Since this is occurring on a relatively new install, I currently have 259GB free out of 297GB on my HD. The My Documents folder only has about 500 mb of Data.
