  • Is it possible to use the values method for a HashMap if the values are ArrayLists?

    I'm stuck trying to get something to work in an assignment. I have a HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Object>> called sharedLocks and I want to check whether a certain value can be found in any ArrayList in the HashMap. The following code obviously wouldn't work because Object[] can't be cast to ArrayList[], but it is a demonstration of the general functionality that I want. ArrayList[] values = (ArrayList[]) sharedLocks.values().toArray(); boolean valueExists = false; for (int i = 0; i < values.length; i++) { if (values[i].contains(accessedObject)) { valueExists = true; } } Is there a way for me to check every ArrayList in the HashMap for a certain value? I'm not sure how to use the values method for HashMaps in this case. Any help would be much appreciated.

    I'm way out of my league here... I have a mapping table (table1) to assign particular values (value) to a whole number (map_nu). My second table (table2), is a collection of averages (avg) (I couldn't figure out how to properly make a markdown table, please feel free to edit!) table1: table2: (value)(Map_nu) (avg) ---- ----- 1 1 1.111 1.045 2 1.2 1.09 3 1.33333 1.135 4 1 1.18 5 1.389 1.225 6 1.42 1.27 7 1.07 1.315 8 1.36 9 1.405 10 I need to find a way to match the averages from table2 to the closest value in table1. It only need to match to the 2 digit past the decimal, so I've added the Truncated function SELECT map_nu FROM `table1` JOIN table2 ON TRUNCATE(table1.value,2)=TRUNCATE(table2.avg,2) I still miss the values that don't match the averages exactly. Is there a way to pick the nearest truncated value? Thanks!

    hi guyz my problem is trying to go to the next instruction without pressing enter.. this is my code cout<<"Enter Date Of Birth: "; cin>>day; cout<<"/"; cin>>month; cout<<"/"; cin>>year; by only providing 2 digit number for day, i want the next instruction to get printed without me pressing enter, and so goes to the rest month and year. since year is the last, i can press enter after that.

  • Best way to search a point across several polygons

    I have a requirement whereby I need to match a given point (lat,lon) against several polygons to decide if there is a match. The easiest way would be to iterative over each polygon and apply the point-in-polygon check algorithm, but that is prohibitively expensive. The next optimization that I did was to define a bounding rectangle for each polygon (upper bound, lower bound) and iteratively check the point against the bounding box (fewer comparisons as against checking all the points in the polygon). Is there any other optimization possible? Would a spatial index on the bound rectangle points or a geohash help ? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • How to structure data... Sequential or Hierarchical?

    I'm going through the exercise of building a CMS that will organize a lot of the common documents that my employer generates each time we get a new sales order. Each new sales order gets a 5 digit number (12222,12223,122224, etc...) but internally we have applied a hierarchy to these numbers: + 121XX |--01 |--02 + 122XX |--22 |--23 |--24 In my table for sales orders, is it better to use the 5 digital number as an ID and populate up or would it be better to use the hierarchical structure that we use when referring to jobs in regular conversation? The only benefit to not populating sequentially seems to be formatting the data later on in my view, but that doesn't sound like a good enough reason to go through the extra work. Thanks

  • Is it possible to create a branch from a tag in TortoiseSVN without first checking out the tag from

    Our trunk directory contains about 100mb of code and we create tags from the trunk directory. Normally, this is not an issue because a tag takes up no space until you need to use it for something. Since branches are created from tags in SVN, how can I create a branch from a tag wtihout first checking out the tag? It appears I need to do a Tortoise Update from Windows Explorer to get the tag down to my local machine before I can use Tortoise Branch/Tag... to create a branch from it. This seems illogical since we don't make changes to tag folders, and it requires that I check out 100mb of code, only to create a branch, and then check out another 100mb of code in the branch folder, where the changes will actually be made. Ideally, I'd be able to create a branch directly in the repository via RepoBrowser - but I can't see an option for it there. Am I missing something?

    Hello, I am wondering how exactly can i order my date nicely in a stringbuilder? Meaning something equal to ("{0,2}", ....) to space the data nicely out. I do not want to use consolewrites of any kind, so the class can be re-used in a form, console code etc... Currently i am using " " for the spacing, but in overall it does not give a proper display.     I am using several languages, and by now I am obliged to indicate vim with which of these the spell check must be done. Is there a way to set up vim so that he automatically detects the correct one ? I remember vaguely that in a previous version of vim, when the spell check was not integrated, this was possible, using the vimspell script. It would be even better if this could apply not only to a file but also to a portion of a file, since I frequently mix several languages in a single file. Of course, I would like to avoid to load several dictionaries simultaneously.

  • C++ - How to efficiently find out if any string in a vector can be assembled from a set of letters

    Hello, everyone! I am implementing a text-based version of Scrabble for a college project. I have a vector containing around 400K strings (my dictionary), and, at some point in every turn, I'm going to have to check if there's still a word in the dictionary which can be formed with the pieces in the player's hand. I'm checking if the player has any move left... If not, it's game over for the player in question... My only solution to this is iterating through the string, one by one, and using a sub-routine I have to check if the string in question can be formed from the player's pieces. I'll implement a quickfail checking if the user has any vowels, but it'll still be woefully inefficient. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time!

    Hello! I'm trying to come up with a lightning fast solution to find portions in a string. Here is a Sample string: "PostLoad successful! You transferred amount of 17.00 Rs to 03334224222. Now use PostLoad by dialing 123. PostLoad on SMS will end on 01-03-2011." Objective: Need to retrieve the bold values: Amount and Cell Number. The string contents change slightly but the cell number will always be a 11 digit. The amount is always with two decimal precision. Any suggestions using C# and RegEx?

The way I intend to use it is to check whether an element index in one matrix is equal to the values stored in another array (where the stored values are the indexes of the elements which meet a certain criteria). So, if the indices of the elements which meet the criteria are stored in the matrix below: criteriacheck = [3 5 6 8 20]; Going through the main array (called array) & checking if the index matches: for i = 1:numel(array) if i == 'Any value stored in criteriacheck' ... It creates a record that associates a tag with a post in a QuestionsTags joiner table. If so, I have to find out which one comes first in the string and which one comes next after that. I checked whether the characters are in the string or not using strchr(expr,'character here'). To find which character comes first, I find the index of each character using const char *ptr = strchr(expr, characters here); if(ptr) { int index = ptr - expr; } After that I check which index is bigger. But this is very long process. Is there a smarter way to do this?

What will happen if the first statement is true? Will Java still check the second statement? Because in order the first statement to be true, the HashMap should not contain the given key, so if the second statement is checked, I will get NullPointerException. So in simple words, if we have the following code if(a && b) if(a || b) would Java check b if a is false in the first case and if a is true in the second case?

    Using .remove() so that the select all check box is not submitted to the server. However, it is visible to the user as the select all checkbox is "physically" removed from the web page, upon submit. Instead, I would like removing the select all check box to appear seamless but NOT on the server side. i.e. - I would like to keep the input on the page but remove the element in the form array before it is sent. Can I manipulate the element[] array of the form before it is sent to the server and delete it there? Thank you.
