  • Does the Frontier Kernel have a future?

    Whatever you think about Dave Winer, Frontier is an incredible piece of software. It includes quite a few advances that have yet to be surpassed: the object database, the database viewer, the scripting environment, the hierarchical-including website generation scheme, the elegant scripting language, the mixing of scripts and compilation, rapid prototyping, built in web server, simple debugger, cross-platform, simple UI, etc. My question: Dave turned Frontier over to open source and there is a Frontier Kernel project. However it is fairly quiet. Does Frontier have a future from here?

    I wonder how can I enable the nullptr in the just released Visual Studio 2010. (C++ project, not managed). This is one of the new features but it is not available by default and looking inside the documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4ex65770(VS.100).aspx it seams that it is enabled by /clr but this is managed! Is this a feature added only for .NET?

  • Parameters with braces in python

    If you look at the following line of python code: bpy.ops.object.particle_system_add({"object":bpy.data.objects[2]}) you see that in the parameters there is something enclosed in braces. Can anyone tell me what the braces are for (generically anyway)? I haven't really seen this type of syntax in python and I can't find any documentation on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.     I'm using identity specification for a table of sql server 2012. Let we have two Insert and then two Delete operation. After these operation primary key should start from 1, but it will start from 3. I'm worry about this problem causing no place for inserting new item after long time. Does "Sql-server 2012" fill these gaps by itself? If it is possible, please refer me a documentation ( for example from microsoft)

    I've been looking for a simple java algorithm to generate a pseudo-random alpha-numeric string. In my situation it would be used as a unique session/key identifier that would "likely" be unique over 500K+ generation (my needs don't really require anything much more sophisticated) . Ideally I would be able to specify a length depending on my uniqueness needs. For example, a generated string of length 12 might look something like "AEYGF7K0DM1X". Answers: I like @Apocalisp and @erickson's answers equally well. The only downside to @Apocalisp's answer is it requires an apache class. Thanks to both for the help!

    I am starting a silverlight project where I have tests for students to complete. I want to have some sort of framework so I can build the tests and store them in a database, delivering the content dynamically so I can continually develop new types of tests without having to re-deply the application. The content will have to be more than just xaml, as there may need to be some logic to determine if answers are correct, or to do some random generation of questions. I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about building a framework that supports this. Are there some best practices, or examples? Should each test type just be a seperate silverlight control, or should I use 1 silverlight "container" application that can display dynamic content?

    I use paypal for my payments. For verification i use IPN. Can i review my INP History in the Paypal Sandbox? At the documentation i see Instant Payment Notification History in the History tab. (specifically this) I have the file /{project}/snippets/EnforceLoginMiddleware.py and I have tried any number of permutations inside MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES to load it as well as googling django snippets install to no avail :( Any help would be grateful :) PS(Why can't I find any documentation or examples on the installation of snippets.
