Is it possible to have a bunch of dropdowns in html that only display a small (say 10 pixels wide) icon, but when you click it the drop down has a list with the icons beside a descriptive string. (Let's see if ASCII art works on SO):
[X]
X - Disable
v/ - Enable
O - Ignore
+-------------+
[O]
[v]
[X]
Can that be done in CSS? Or in jQuery?
I have the following problem. I have a webservice, which accepts a post request with some json data in the request body and which also returns Json data.
Now I want to build a user friendly HTML page to test this service. I have a form to fill in data, when the user clicks the button, the JSON should be build from the form data and POSTed to my webservice, the response should be displayed to the user. How do I achieve that?
I'm trying to clean some html text with javascript, there are white spaces included before and after some words (text is poorly formatted).
Currently I have this regex:
$("#" + target + " *").replaceText(/([\S][ְ-ׄ]*)/gi, '$1');
This will capture all the non white-space characters and wrap them in a span element, but will not capture spaces between words (I need the span).
How would you solve this?

I have a list of items sorted alphabetically:
list = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j]
I'm able to output the list in an html table horizonally like so:
a , b , c , d
e , f , g , h
i , j , ,
What's the algorithm to create the table vertically like this:
a , d , g , j
b , e , h ,
c , f , i ,
I'm using python, but your answer can be in any language or even pseudocode.
Thanks
Hi all
I know that the EURO currency symbol (€) is encoded as € in HTML, but the System.Web.HttpUtility.HtmlEncode("€") doesnt encode it at all. Does anyone know why that is?
Thanks
This might seem like a bit of a design/css question but i really need some help.
This is the page http://library.permilia.com/Gavin/version2.0_beta/lead.html
It works on every browsers imaginable except chrome.
By it works i mean it applies a class .error that sets the borders to 1px solid #f00 which is a red border. In chrome for some reason you cannot change it no matter what!
Anybody got any ideas?
Hi all,
I want to know is there any option/work sround for $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']. Because 'HTTP_REFERER' can not be trusted.
Then What is other way to know that from which url the request has came from?.
Here is the situation -
http:// abc.com/one.htmlwill have an iframe having src=http:// xyz.com/giv.php?param=1.
How giv.php on xyz.com will know that request is coming from http:// abc.com/one.html?
Try running the code, I know the problem is in the 1. part.
Thanks in advance,
P.S. I'm a newbie in JS.

It's been a long day of designing and I ran into a problem today. The website www.dcninc.com/newtest/security_testing.php is a new design I'm working on at work right now.
If you view it in Firefox you will notice there is no padding on the 2 right boxes (I did that on purpose to trouble shoot my problem) However if you view that same page in IE, it adds padding to the right side. Here is my CSS and HTML below.

I made a facebook content locker(PHP + HTML + JAVA) for my website, so to access the site user must press the 'facebook share "in the middle of the screen.After pressing this button, it opens facebook pop-up and user can share or NOT my link because locker disappear in 30 seconds since clicked on this button(so I put it).
Is there any possibility, any function that content locker disappear only after the user has actually given share in facebook pop-up window,I mean after my site address appears on facebook ?
Thanks a lot
There is a page with drop-down menu "Products" overlapped by next content in IE.
It works fine under Gecko or Webkit browsers.

I have no solutions yet.

I need to hide a column as well as other elements when my page is printed , and in order to do that I have a print style sheet, everything works fine, except for the column I want to make disappear, the strange thing is that my stylesheet works in IE , but it didn't in Mozilla and chrome, why's that?
Html code
<col width="10%" class="art-editcolumn"/>
and here's the CSS class:
.art-editcolumn
{
display: none;
}
Hope you can help me out with this.
i need a regular expressions string to get all anchor tags in a page with a specific css class name, in c#/vb.net
this is what i got so far
"<a.*?href=""(.*?)"".*?>(.*?)"
but my attempts to add "class=name" isnt working, also is it possible to find links where the class name appears either before or after the href with one expression ?
i am familiar with 3rd party html libraries, but thats an overkill for what i have in mind, so is the webbrowser control.
So I was looking at the facebook HTML with firebug, and I chanced upon this image
and came to the conclusion that facebook uses this large image (with tricky image positioning code) rather than many small ones for its graphical elements. Is this more efficient than storing many small images?
Can anybody give any clues as to why facebook would do this.
I want all .jpg links to have a certain background image. so a link on a page like 'http://mysite/myimage.jpg' would automatically be prefixed with a small icon. Actually all links to images, ie .gif .png as well with the same icon. If the link is to a website, ie .htm/.php/.html/.asp it should have a different image. I want it to be through classes in CSS. Any help appreciated. TIA
I have a form with a lot of fields. I want it to be neat and easy to use. I found this site that theorizes about an updated e-bay registration form and I liked what e-bay was doing.
So... what html/css do I need to get a form to look like the form on the right:
I have seen many websites triggering a file save-as dialog on a page with existing HTML content. How do they do this?
I know about setting the right headers such as Content-disposition etc. but when I do that, the content of the page does not load, and immediately the file download is triggered...
If I have a textbox in my view:

<%= Html.TextBox("Comments", Model.Comments)%>

I want to post the contents of this textbox to the controller with an Ajax call. I only need this one value though, so I don't want to post the whole form back.
<%= Ajax.ActionLink("update", "UpdateComments",
new { comments = /* ????? */ },
new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod="POST" })%>
How do I get the textbox value?
