• jquery textarea custom tags replacement

  Hi all, I'm basically trying to create my own tags - and replace them with the right HTML tags. So {B} {/B} would turn into <b> </b> I have only got so far with this, here: http://www.nacremedia.com/text2.htm Use the [B] button to bold stuff the current selection... it creates two bold tags and one closing for some reason. I'm so close! But I just need a bit of direction to get the final bugs out - can anyone please help?? Also, if there is a better way of doing this altogether then I am more than welcome to new ideas.

  Currently, I'm populating a drop down list when a file is created in a configurable folder. if (!downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.FullName)) Then, I add the file and remove "No Responses Available". However, if the same file is resubmitted (i.e., the file name is the same but the timestamp is different), then I want to remove the older entry and replace it with a new entry in the drop down list. I have the filename, so I go into the "else" block from the line of code above. From there, I'm checking to see if I have the same filename and a different creation time. if (downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.FullName) && downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.CreationTime) From here, I want to find the position, remove it, and add the new text. This approach isn't working. Can anyone offer an alternate approach?

  Hi there, I'm trying to merge a hash with the key/values of string in ruby. i.e. h = {:day => 4, :month => 8, :year => 2010} s = "/my/crazy/url/:day/:month/:year" puts s.interpolate(h) All I've found is to iterate the keys and replace the values.   Hey guys I'm using Jquery flowplayer tools overlay to open external links. External links are working fine with this piece of code shown in the link: http://www.demiseonline.com/misc/Iframeoverlay.html Now using this overlay - I wanted to open the twitter dialog which asks users to Allow access to their account. So in the code below, I replaced http://www.google.com with https://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=VPVRIsnRz9IX4CAab7brert3jHiEs <div class="apple_overlay black" id="Overlay1" <iframe src ="http://www.google.com" width="100%" height="595px" frameborder="0" </iframe </div When I replace the code, as soon as I load the page, even before I click on the link to open the overlay - the page gets redirected to the twitter URL. • PHP/MySQL: Storing and retrieving UUIDS

  I'm trying to add UUIDs to a couple of tables, but I'm not sure what the best way to store/retrieve these would be. I understand it's far more efficient to use BINARY(16) instead of VARCHAR(36). After doing a bit of research, I also found that you can convert a UUID string to binary with: UNHEX(REPLACE(UUID(),'-','')) Pardon my ignorance, but is there an easy way to this with PHP and then turn it back to a string, when needed, for readability? Also, would it make much difference if I used this as a primary key instead of auto_increment? EDIT: Found part of the answer: $bin = pack("h*", str_replace('-', '', $guid)); How would you unpack it?

• Gaining application/module context from a symfony task

  I have written a reporting suite, and I have a specific report that builds a CSV file. Serving this file via a browser on demand isn't an issue, but I need to be able to build this CSV file nightly, and email round a link to be able to download it. Essentially, I need to be able to replace a specific action with a symfony task, run via cron. So how do I gain application/module context from a symfony task? And secondly, how would I invoke the SwiftMailer library from a symfony task? I'm using symfony v1.4.4 and PHP v.5.2.13. Thanks in advance for your help.

  I'm writing a banking system and my customer wants support both Russian and American numeric standards in decimal digits delimiter. Respectively . and ,. Now only , works properly. Perhaps because of web server's OS format (Russian is set). String like 2000.00 throws a FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. How to fix that? Are there any other ideas except String.Replace('.', ',') on FormView.ItemInserting event?

  I have a browser interface with a ul#contacts list on the left and div#contact property panel (email, phone) on the right. Click a contact in the list and my app makes an XHR request to get the contact property HTML fragment and update div#contact.innerHTML. Each contact fragment has an "Edit Contact" link. With JS, I progressively upgrade that link with an event listener that performs an XHR request to replace the static property panel with an in-place edit form. This can happen many times during a single browser session. How should I clean up my "Edit Contact" event listener? Do I need to remove it manually before the form overwrites the property panel? Or is the event listener cleaned up automatically when the contents of div#contact (and the node that I'm listening on) is overwritten? FWIW, I still consider IE6 to be part of my target market.

My idea for a List: final List<String> strings = new ArrayList<String>(); strings.add("HELLO"); strings.add("WORLD"); for(int i=0,l=strings.size();i<l;++i) { strings.add(strings.remove(0).toLowerCase()); } is there a better, faster way? How would this exmaple look like for a set? As there is currently no method for applying an operation to each element of a set (or list) can it be done without creating an additional temporary set?   I have a bat file which sets some environment variables, and then executes a command on the command line. I want to replace the hard coded command with one passed in via a parameter. So: :: Set up the required environment SET some_var=a SET another_var=b CALL some.bat :: Now call the command passed into this batch file %1 The problem is that the command is complex, and doesn't escape cleanly. It looks like this: an.exe -p="path with spaces" -t="some text" -f="another path with spaces" I'm trying to call the .bat from a .NET framework app, using: Dim cmd as String = "the cmd" System.Diagnostics.Process.Start( thebat.exe, cmd ) but I can't seem to get the escapes to work correctly. Can someone tell me how the string cmd should be entetered to get the command passed into the bat file as an argument correctly?

• Handling hundreds of dependencies with ant

  Hi guys, I have to refactor an ant xml file. Basicly I have one big task that checkouts (using cvs) a lot of dependencies, build them, and then copy all the jar/wsdl generated by building them to a directory that I specify. If one dependency version changes, I have to change the name in at least 3 places on the xml file (cvs checkout, build, copy). What I'd like to have is just a single place where I can specify my dependencies name, without having to search & replace the dependency name through the code. One of the problems is that the cvs project could be /path1/path2/project with tag=v12 but then the jars generated by the single project build could be several with different names, so it seems to be a bit complicated. Do you have any idea on how I can get this done?

  I want to run a procedure to force a row lock on a row, but I don't want to return a result set to the client, nor do I actually want to update anything.   Hi all, I'm a bit new to Javascript and am trying to create a delimited string from a textare. The problem is when passing in the textarea, it adds newlines for each row on the textarea. I need to have the entire textarea parsed into a string with a delimiter for each line (replacing the newline char).   I am using LINQ to XML to create an Excel XML file. I want to include newlines within the cells. Excel uses the &#10; literal to represent a new line. If I try to add this using an XText: XText newlineElement = new XText( "Foo&#10;Bar" ); I get: Foo&amp;#10;Bar Which shows up in Excel as: Foo&#10;Bar Is there a way to write &#10 to the XML file without doing a String.Replace( "&amp;#10;", "&#10;" ) over the resulting file text?

• Is it possible to make a PHP script run itself every hour or so without the use of a cronjob?

  I'm pretty sure I've seen this done in a php script once, although I cant find the script. It was some script that would automatically check for updates to that script, and then replace itself if there was an update. I don't actually need all that, I just want to be able to make my PHP script automatically run every 30 minutes to an hour, but I'd like to do it without cronjobs, if its possible. Any suggestions? Or is it even possible? EDIT: After reading through a possible duplicate that RC linked to, I'd like to clarify. I'd like to do this completely without using resources outside of the PHP script. AKA no outside cronjobs that send a GET request. I'd also like to do it without keeping the script running constantly and sleeping for 30 minutes

• Should HTTP POST be discouraged?

  Quoting from the CouchDB documentation: It is recommended that you avoid POST when possible, because proxies and other network intermediaries will occasionally resend POST requests, which can result in duplicate document creation. To my understanding, this should not be happening on the protocol level (a confused user armed with a doubleclick is a completely different story). What is the best course of action, then? Should we really try to avoid POST requests and replace them by PUT? I don't like that as they convey a different meaning. Should we anticipate this and protect the requests by unique IDs where we want to avoid accidental duplication? I don't like that either: it complicates the code and prevents situations where multiple identical posts may be desired.

  There are three column in the datatable A,B and C. Now each column is type of decimal. Now I am doing like dt.Columns["A"].Expression="B+C"; to make addition of Column B's record and column C's record. Now if there is any value of B or C is null then addition of B and C will be null like B's value is 3 and C's value is null for first row then B+C(3+null) will be null which is not appropriate, the result of addition should be 3.If I replace 0 instead of null then it will be ok.But whereever there is null value in the records it should be remain it is and it should not be replaced by 0.That is null value should not be replaced by 0 and when addition of null value is done with any decimal value null value should be considered as 0. Is it possible,how can we do this ?

The file may not exist, in this case I want to just write an object to the dictionary and then write it down the problem is that when i do setObject forKey it doesn't add anything to the dict (if i just do alloc init to the dict, it works fine, but i want to read the records from the file, if there are any, and replace/add a record by using the AddAddress function)

• PHP exec not working with gcc

  I just spent a few hours pulling my hair out over this. I'm trying to get gcc to compile a file from within PHP. $command = "/usr/bin/gcc /var/www/progpad/temp/tNu7rq.c -o /var/www/progpad/temp/tNu7rq.out"; exec($command, $output, $returnVal); echo $returnVal."<br />"; //returns 1 echo json_encode($output); //returns [] I'm running this on my own ubuntu server and both /var/www/progpad/ /var/www/progpad/temp/ have chmod 777 set. If I copy and paste the command string, and paste it into the terminal it works perfectly. Also if I replace the command string with something like $command = "echo test > test.txt"; Then this has no problem creating the text file. What could I possibly be doing wrong here???

• Why does Google append while(1); in front of their JSON responses?

  This is something I've always been curious about, is exactly why Google appends while(1); in front of their (private) JSON responses. For example, here's a response while turning a calendar on and off in Google Calendar: while(1);[['u',[['smsSentFlag','false'],['hideInvitations','false'],['remindOnRespondedEventsOnly','true'],['hideInvitations_remindOnRespondedEventsOnly','false_true'],['Calendar ID stripped for privacy','false'],['smsVerifiedFlag','true']]]] I would assume this is to prevent people from doing an eval() on it, but all you'd really have to do is replace the while and then you'd be set. I would assume eval prevention is to make sure people write safe JSON parsing code. I've seen this used in a couple other places, too, but a lot more so with Google (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc.) Strangely enough, Google Docs starts with &&&START&&& instead, and Google Contacts seems to start with while(1); &&&START&&&. Does anyone know what's going on here?

• Android: Is decreasing size of .png files have some effect to resulted Bitmap in memory

  I'm writing game with a large amount of .png pictures. All worked fine. Than I added new activity with WebView and got memory shortage. After that I made some experiment - replace game .png images with ones that just fully filled with some color. As result memory shortage had gone. But I suppose that Bitmap internally hold each pixel separately so such changes should have no effect. Maybe this because of initial images have alpha channel and my test images have not it? But actually question is: Will decreasing .png images files sizes make some effect on decreasing usage of VM application heap or not?

  I am trying to port my usage meter from a JavaScript Gadget (win) / Widget (OSX) to Android. Total newbie when comes to JAVA + Eclipse + Android 2.1 SDK. Essentially what I want to do is load a page, pass through a username and password and load the resulting page into a array that I can then run some regular expressions through. I've played around with WebView but that loads the page in a web browser which isn't what I want.
