• Drupal is unable to create the "files" folder (and any upload php script as well)

  hi, Drupal cannot create the "files" folder. I tried to upload a php script with mkdir("files",774) but I get a permissions error, so basically any php script is not able to create a folder on the server... What do you suggest ? If I create the folder manually from ftp client and I assign 777 permission everything works perfectly, but it is not safe solution.

  What do people think is the best JSF framework or library for a saving state longer than request scope (but w/o using session scope) that is backbutton/new window safe -- i.e. you have a "wizard"/multi-page form. For example, MyFaces has the 'SaveState' tag (http://bit.ly/8QHmX5) that allows you to maintain state across pages by saving state in the view's component tree. Any comments on SaveState (pros/cons) or suggestions for any better framework or library for this capability?

  Hi fellas, A) Are there any FOSS programs out there that can manage to hashchange all files in a directory tree? B) Failing that, what methods could be used to develop this capability in a (crappy) self-written program without requiring the program to be sophisticated and content-aware? Is there any (roughly) universally safe location within a file (for example, around EOF?) where on could one simply append/add psuedorandom data so the resulting hash is different?   One of my users had a single error while opening a file (I'm using standard xml 1.0): The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.w3.org' I found a post here in StackOverflow that deals with this and it suggest setting the XmlResolver property to null. I've tried this, and all my documents still seem to load fine. However, the last thing I want is to break the file-reading mechanism of my app, so is it actually safe to disable the resolver?

I assume then there must be a central repo... but then how exactly is it 'distributed'?   I've created a login page and registration page and now I want to use that to password protect pages and have pages which show information specific to that user. Would storing the user ID of the user logged in in a Session variable be a safe and correct way of doing this?
