  • Looking for Recommendations on Version Control System with Intuitive (.NET) API?

    I'm working on a project which generates (composite) Microsoft Word documents which are comprised of one or more child documents. There are tens of thousands of permutations of the composite documents. Far too many for users to easily manage. Users will need to view/edit the child documents through the app which hides all of the nasty implementation details. A requirement of the system is that the child documents must be version controlled. That is what has been tripping me up. I've been torn between using an off-the-shelf solution or rolling my own. At a minimum, the system needs to support get latest, get specific version, add new, rename and possibly delete. I’ve whiteboarded it enough to realize it won’t be a trivial task to create my own. As far as commercial systems I have VSS and TFS at my disposal. I've played with the TFS API some, but it isn’t as intuitive or well documented as I had hoped. I'm not averse to an open source solution (e.g. SVN), but I have less familiarity with them. Which approach or tool would you recommend? Why? Do you have any links to API documentation you would recommend? Environment: C#, VS2008, SQL Server 2005/2008, low volume (a few hundred operations per day)

I know you can typically acquire a still image at a higher resolution than a single video frame. Currently, I am using MATLAB's image acquisition toolbox.. which apparently only supports obtaining frames in video mode(so lower resolution). Which other libraries do you recommend? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    I recently saw a video about Erlang on InfoQ, In that video one of the creators presented how to replace the behavior of a message loop. He was simply sending a message containing a lambda of the new version of the message loop code, which then was invoked instead of calling the old loop again. Is that code hot swapping in Erlang reffers to? Or is that some other more native feature?

  • Apache Tuscany 1.6 How do you set the JMS Binding Delivery Mode to NON_PERSISTENT?

    I am using Tuscany 1.6 and am trying to set the Delivery Mode JMS Binding to NON_PERSISTENT. I've tried using uri="jms:MyService?deliveryMode=1" (which is what the spec (PDF) says to do) but, I ended up getting the following exception: Unknown token deliveryMode=1 I also tried <headers JMSDeliveryMode="NON_PERSISTENT"/>, although I did not get an exception the messages still got delivered as PERSISTENT.     hi! imagine there are two interfaces arranged via composite pattern, one of them has a dispose method among other methods: interface IComponent extends ILeaf { ... function dispose() : void; } interface ILeaf { ... } some implementations have some more things in common (say an id) so there are two more interfaces: interface ICommonLeaf extends ILeaf { function get id() : String; } interface ICommonComponent extends ICommonLeaf, IComponent { } so far so good. but there is another interface which also has a dispose method: interface ISomething { ... function dispose() : void; } and ISomething is inherited by ICommonLeaf: interface ICommonLeaf extends ILeaf, ISomething { function get id() : String; } As soon as the dispose method is invoked on an instance which implements the ICommonComponent interface, the compiler fails with an ambiguous reference error because ISomething has a method called dispose and ILeaf also has a dispose method, both living in different interfaces (IComponent, ISomething) within the inheritace tree of ICommonComponent. I wonder how to deal with the situation if the IComponent, the ILeaf and the ISomething can't change. the composite structure must also work for for the ICommonLeaf & ICommonComponent implementations and the ICommonLeaf & ICommonComponent must conform to the ISomething type. this might be an actionscript-3 specific issue. i haven't tested how other languages (for instance java) handle stuff like this.

    I am developing a Java Desktop Application and using JPA for persistence. I have a problem mentioned below: I have two entities: Country City Country has the following attribute: CountryName (PK) City has the following attribute: CityName Now as there can be two cities with same name in two different countries, the primaryKey for City table in the datbase is a composite primary key composed of CityName and CountryName. Now my question is How to implement the primary key of the City as an Entity in Java @Entity public class Country implements Serializable { private String countryName; @Id public String getCountryName() { return this.countryName; } } @Entity public class City implements Serializable { private CityPK cityPK; private Country country; @EmbeddedId public CityPK getCityPK() { return this.cityPK; } } @Embeddable public class CityPK implements Serializable { public String cityName; public String countryName; } Now as we know that the relationship from Country to City is OneToMany and to show this relationship in the above code, I have added a country variable in City class. But then we have duplicate data(countryName) stored in two places in the City class: one in the country object and other in the cityPK object. But on the other hand, both are necessary: countryName in cityPK object is necessary because we implement composite primary keys in this way. countryName in country object is necessary because it is the standard way of showing relashionship between objects. How to get around this problem?

I understand that the iphone doesnt natively support flv playback but isnt there anything I can do to get around this problem?
