Any suggestion for a good unicode string library for Delphi 2010? Such thing as class that would contain a collection of independent functions, basically an encapsulation of functions that manipulate strings (ex: Trimlike, Character removal, Positional, Sub-string, Compare, Informational, Case, Replacement, Manipulation functions etc. ).
Thanks
I'm editing a Visual Studio 2010 web application.
When saving changes to a code-behind file, the file becomes read only in the editor for 1-2 minutes. Closing and re-opening the file makes it editable again.
As I save quite frequently, this can be a pain.
Has anyone else run into this issue, and know any work-arounds?
linq to sql visual studio Object-Relational designer generates C# entity class names same as the table names (except pluralizing it).
so if the table name is authors it generates entity class with name "author". If the table name is Customers it generates class with name "Customer". Is there any option that can be set to
make the designer generate entity class names as pascal cased.
I am using VS 2010 if that makes any difference. Thanks.
Is it possible to make Visual Studio 2010's code completion window more like that of Eclipse (Java)?
In particular, I'd love the code completion window to give me a variable's type, and a method's return type and expected parameters, without needing to hover the highlight over that particular variable/method.
VS's code completion's little icons that indicate if something is a property, method etc are useful, but they just aren't enough.
Hi,
I'm using Visual Studio 2010. But find that the Obsolete attribute doesn't cause any compiler warning (I want it to cause a compiler warning).
The warning level is 4.
Thanks.
For Silverlight 4 did TemplatedControl replace UserControl? Because when I goto add a new item in Visual Studio 2010 that is the only thing that closely resembles a user control in the dialog?
I'm using Visual Studio 2010 RC. Would it be possible that after doing my UML Diagrams, I could then generate classes with method stubs from it?
Thanks
I'm talking about VS 2010 Professional/Ultimate RTM (not express versions).
Google doesn't show much other than stuff about the beta 2 and RC versions.
Will it run OK on a Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz with 3GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS?
I'm coding an advanced web browser. The bad thing is, is that whenever you move your cursor over the window, a wait cursor is displayed. I tried to deselect the wait cursor but it doesn't work!
I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Beta 2...
Please help!!
Is the remote debugger from VS2010 compatible with VS2008?
That is, can connect from visual studio 2008 to a machine running the remote debugger installed by VS 2010
I am having issues with setting up the Inbound Email with SP 2010. I have enabled the settings in Central Admin for Inbound Email, set up an MX record, added the IP to my Exchange Server, then created a new doc-lib in SP and i am still not seeing the "Incoming e-mail settings" option under communications in the doc-lib setup screen.
Can someone let me know what I may be doing wrong, or missing?
Hi,
I am upgrading an old version 1.0 F# project to 2.0 using visual studio 2010. So many changes.
I can't seem to find the print_any command that was littered all over the place in the old books and samples.
I have installed powerpack but can't find it there either.
Any idea where i can find this command.
PS: I know I can easily implement it myself but was curious where this is now.
I add to my project a PageFunction and I get a dozen of the following error and the project won't compile:
'ResourceDictionary' root element is a generic type and requires a x:Class
attribute to support the x:TypeArguments attribute specified on the root
element tag.
Basically I get an error for each DataTemplate I merge in the ResourceDictionary, has anyone encoutered this problem before?
Note: I use VB.NET 3.5 on VS 2010.
Hello.
Some of the old projects in our company are left to be built with VS2005 in autobuild system (making them build correctly in 2010 cost time). Is it any addins for VS2010 that will allow to open VS2005 project and edit it's files without converting project file itself to VS2010 format (converting will kill autobuild)? Of course i can create a separate project named "xxx_vs2010.vcproj" for each of such products, but that will be a mess :(.

We added a SharePoint BDC model project to a solution in Visual Studio 2010. Ever since, whenever the solution is built, instead of showing the Build output in the Output window, it insists on having "SharePoint Tools" selected in the "Show Output from:" drop-down, just to say "Model validation started ... Model validation completed with no errors."
Short of shutting off any SharePoint projects in the build configuration, can this behavior be overridden?
Hi guys,
I am running a .net 4.0 app, Access Database on a Win 7 x64 bit OS + Office 2010(64 bit compatible provider Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 )
Platform target x86:
Provider problem:
The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine
Platform target x64 or Any CPU:
Dll problem:
System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.SHDocVw, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
Getting to grips with Visual Studio 2010,
This compiles:
var x = System.Web.Security.Membership.GetUser();
And runs, however VS2010 gives no intellisense for x and reports it just as a 'local variable'.
Has anyone got any ideas?
I've created a class project in VS 2010 Beta 2. I've added one Activity to it. Saved it. Created another Activity. I would expect the first Activity to appear in the toolbox so I could drag it into my workflow, but it's not. Any ideas?
Hello, I am using visual studio 2010 on Windows 7 64bit.
I compiled and ran a simple application basically a thing a child could make.
Well the second it started to run, it froze my computer and rendered it unresponsive.
It continues to do this every time and for every application.
Any ideas why this is happening?
I have applied a color theme called Vibrant Ink (or some modification of it), and since I installed Visual Studio 2010 Pro Power Tools all my statement completion boxes are undreadable.
What setting changes the colors of these boxes? Preferrably, I'd like to change the background color to something darker, but if that's not possible at least I want to change the text color.
I am created a website using visual studio 2010. On the time of the development of website I am able to access the database.. but after publishing the site using IIS7..i was unable to access the database..the exception occured during that time was "the connection is in the closed state".in IIS7 When I changed the application pool identity to localsystem, it worked.
Data base is installed in the same machine. and server is SQL SERVER 2008 R2
Faced problem while setting background color for any element in Visual Studio 2010 editor. Selection color doesn't override this background color. So then it's very inconvenient to work with selections in editor.
Case when only string literal is selected it's almost impossible to distinguish colors and see what part of string is selected.
Is there any possibility to fix the problem by changing some options? Or it's a Visual Studio bug?
I must say I really like the new code analysis with VS 2010, I have a lot of areas in my code where I am not using CultureInfo.InvariantCultureand code analysis is warming me about this.
I am pretty sure I want to use CultureInfo.InvariantCulturewhere ever code analysis has detected it is missing on Convert.ToString operations.
Is there anyway to get VS to automatically fix warnings of this type?
