• Cocoa touch - creating view template for iPad

  Hi, This is kinda a hard question to describe. I'm just starting to make an iPad app. Now with the amount of real estate I have, I'm planning to have different but similar "views" to populate the space. (might be easier to think a newspaper site, where many of the columns are similar) I would like to create a "view template" so I can reuse the view in the different spots. Is it possible to design the view template in Interface Builder? (meaning I design the UIView in Interface Builder and then somehow I can just do [window addSubview:viewController.viewTemplate1]; multiple times? If so how would I load that view template in the different places? If you know of an example code / tutorial that does something similar, that would work too. Thanks, Tee

  First time i read some information about SSD's, i was surprised to learn they internally use NAND flash chips. This kind of memory is generally slow (low bandwidth) and have high latency while SSD's are just the opposite. But here is how it works : SSD drives increase their bandwidth by using several NAND flash chips in parallel. In other words, they do some data striping (aka RAID0) across several chips (done by the controller). What i don't understand is how SSD's drives managed to reduce latency? (or at least lot better than what a single NAND chip without any controller can do)

• Make exact copy of USB stick [closed]

  There's this school software on a USB drive. It only runs, when the stick they gave is plugged in. Cloning the drive with dd command didn't work. I'm guessing it checks the hardware ID of the flash drive. Is there any way to change drives information? I guess not, but is it possible to create a virtual flash drive with exactly same hardware id and all other read-only information that the software is most probably checking. EDIT: The paper math books we have dont' have answers. So when I'm doing homework I have no idea if did it right. The electronic version does have the answers. The publisher didn't put them into paper version because of simple reason - money. They would have to republish the book if some answers are found to be wrong. So I feel no shame trying to pirate that software, because publishers are ruining our math education.

Is there a mysql statement that allows you to select the fields that a user changes? And end up with the flash drive that is partitioned. 2 partitions just like the virtual box hard disk. What do I do to restore it. I'm running acronis inside virtual box. What do I do to make use of the backup and actually restore what I've back up. And to be able to boot to xp and vista again inside virtual box. Please help.

• Concerning persistence size in the Linux Live Creator

  Message : Hello everyone! I have ,for the last several months, used the Linux Live USB Creator which it is a very useful app to make portable OS on to flash drives. I mostly use this application to test and try out new OS's as they are released, before I decide to make a hard disk installatio on to the computer. In many cases, the application developers will allow the “persistence” feature in the flash-drive-installed OS, which is just another way of saying that after multiple boot-ups and shutdowns, all the changes made to the OS will be saved in the flash-drive. But I have a question about the limit of the Persistence size in Linux Live USB Creator (currently version 2.6). I install Super OS 10 on to a partition on my external drive which has 30 GB. I wanted to reserve 10 GB for the persistence so that I can install more applications and space will not run out as I update the installed applications or when I do system updates. But why is it that only 3950 MB can be put for persistence? It would be great if, when desired, as much more persistence space could be set aside so that the space will not run out soon. Also, as I have installed the OS on a 30 GB drive, I tried to see how much space is left. But it seems only the remaining of the Persistence space is displayed when I click on the File System folder. For example, after I have just installed it now, there is 3.5 GB of free space. Where can I access the remaining 26 GB or so drive space which is in the same drive? How do I access it Sir?? It would be helpful if any one could explain and help me with this. Most importantly, it would be a big relief if the persistence can be somehow expanded by a work-around so that I can continue using my SuperOS 10.04 (now heavily customized) OS, which unfortunately has just over 576 MB of space left now, after I removed OpenOffice.org and installed the Libre Office earlier today. This is what remains from the maximum allowable 3950 MB of space for persistence at set-up. Thanks in advance!

  hi. I want to make a user interface in which the user can edit two objects at the same time. The main window would have a vertical split view and a form on each side of the view. The problem is that the two forms are identical and I don't want to duplicate the view components in the interface builder. I want to create the form one time and add a reference to it in each side of the split view, each one using a different object source. I could use a NSForm, but the form is not a simple grid of outputTexts and inputText. They have a master table, and diverse kinds of inputs types, like combos, in the detail. How do I create the reusable form using the interface builder? Or how can I do it programmatically? Do I have to create a subclass of NSView and add the individual components in the code?   On a fresh mac os x 10.8 install, i've Quantum GIS Installed from Kingchaos binaries and running fine. I'm trying to develop a plugin for QGIS, and using Plugin Builder. The skel that Plugin Builder, produces, should work off-the-shelf, but it does not compile using the makefile. Somewhere python can't find (pyuic.py), and it searches for (/Users/kyngchaos/...), path. Am I missing something obvious or is there something that could cause this? EDIT: Does this mean that if I fire an event that is not subscribed to in a client class I have to check that it is not null?   I'm attempting to create an XML builder file that tells a user to know exactly what fields failed validation in the output. I also want to display their input back to them, so that requires me figuring out which fields failed validation. Meaning if someone fails on creating a new user resource, I want to display XML that's meaningful (Besides a meaningful HTTP status number) such as: <errors> <user> <email>bad@email: Invalid email format</email> </user> <errors> The above is tough to do in an XML builder file without knowing what field failed. And if I just iterate over error messages, I won't know how to prob my @user object to get the value that the user supplied.

When a new user registers a new account, he/she has to fill in email, password and confirmPassword fields. Obviously, password and confirmPassword fields must match.   I bought an Asus A43E laptop which comes with one USB 3.0 port. In Windows 7 it was working just fine, but after Windows 8 has been installed the USB doesnt work anymore. When I insert any flash drive windows has no reaction. I have been trying to find a driver but I couldnt find one that fits. I know this port works cause I am able to boot windows throw a flash drive. It might be some driver missing. You guys have any idea how can I solve this?

• Friday Fun: Omega Crisis

  Friday is here once again and it’s time to play a fun flash game on company time. Today we take a look at the space shooter Omega Crisis. Omega Crisis At the start of the game you’re given the basic story of the game, defending the space outpost, and instructions on how to play. Controls are easy, just target the enemy and use the left mouse button to fire. After each level you’re shown the results and how many Tech Points you’ve earned. The more Tech Points you earn, you have a better chance of upgrading your weapons and base defense before the next level.   You can also go into Manage Mode by hitting the Space bar, and select gunners and other types of weapons to help defend the outpost. Choose your mission from the timeline after successfully completing a mission. You can also use A,W,D,S to move around the map and see exactly where the enemy ships are coming from. This makes it easier to destroy them before they get too close to your base. This game is a lot of fun and is similar to different “Desktop Defense” type games. If you’re looking for a fun way to waste the afternoon, and not look at TPS reports, Omega Crisis can get you though until the whistle blows.
