    Hi, i have a list with objects. The object has a property 'Sales' which is a string. Now i want to create a list of doubles with the values of all objects' 'Sales' properties. I tried this: var tmp = from n in e.Result select new{ Convert.ToDouble ( n.Sales) }; but this gives me this error: Error 106 Invalid anonymous type member declarator. Anonymous type members must be declared with a member assignment, simple name or member access.

    Hi, I have 24/7 service which keeps setup (configuration data) for charging, routing and etc in the Sql Server. Once it is started it loads the data from table using Linq2SQL and use the data through all the application. And we need a solution to update the setup data in the table without restarting the application. So I am interested is it possible to catch/determine that the table was updated so I can refresh the setup data in the application. I mean is it possible to have events which will raise when there is any delete, update or insert on the table. Thank you.

  • How to improve battery life on Samsung 13.3” Series 7 Ultra (NP730U3E-S01AU)?

    Recently I've bought a Series 7 Ultra Samsung ultrabook and decided to change the OS from originally installed Windows 8 to Ubuntu 14.04LTS. However, it's difficult not to notice great decrease in battery life: on pre-installed Windows 8 battery would last for about 6 hours while on Ubuntu it's almost empty after 2 hours of same kind of work (wi-fi, web, vlc, spotify, intellij idea). I'm not here to say that Ubuntu's battery performance is worse than Windows, but to ask for suggestions how to improve the situation (2 hours of work is pretty poor battery life). Can you recommend some sources, applications or tips/tricks that would improve battery life on my ultrabook? I really like the Ubuntu experience, but this makes my machine much less reliable. I suspect that graphic video card might be one of the issues here.     What exactly were you taking of late MSFT? So much for a spanking new mobile OS which wants to emulate the iPhone OS so badly that it even copied and pasted the iPhone’s erstwhile lack of clipboard support as well? The reason given is so lame (shall I say differently able?) that deserves pity rather than lament. According to MSFT people don’t use the clipboard that often. Being a WinMo user for the better part of my life and having developed for the platform for worse part of it I could say with conviction that Clipboard support was one key differentiator which kept me away from “The Phone to have” of 2007-8-9. Let me try to find few use cases I for one have been using the clipboard. Copy files to and from card and phone memory. Copy images, audio files from apps/browsers/explorer to email other apps. Copy text to/from word documents, notes and emails. Copy content from network drives to memory card. Copy links between browsers (Yes i did it for the love of Opera and PIE alike). Others could definitely come up with more. So who are these so called “users” who provided feedback to MSFT that the clipboard is useless?     I've developed code locally and taken a fairly regular snapshot whenever I reach a significant point in development, e.g. a working build. So I have a long-ish list of about 40 folders, each folder being a snapshot e.g. in ascending date YYYYMMDD order, e.g.:- 20100523 20100614 20100721 20100722 20100809 20100901 20101001 20101003 20101104 20101119 20101203 20101218 20110102 I'm looking for a script to import each of these snapshots as a new subversion revision to the source tree. The end result being that the HEAD revision is the same as the last snapshot, and other revisions are as numbered. Some other requirements: that the HEAD revision is not cumulative of the previous snapshots, i.e., files that appeared in older snapshots but which don't appear in later ones (e.g. due to refactoring etc.) should not appear in the HEAD revision. meanwhile, there should be continuity between files that do persist between snapshots. Subversion should know that there are previous versions of these files and not treat them as brand new files within each revision. Some background about my aim: I need to formally revision control this work rather than keep local private snapshot copies. I plan to release this work as open source, so version controlling would be highly recommended I am evaluating some of the current popular version control systems (Subversion and GIT) BUT I definitely need a working solution in Subversion. I'm not looking to be persuaded to use one particular tool, I need a solution for each tool I am considering as I would also like a solution in GIT (I will post an answer separately for GIT so separate camps of folks who have expertise in GIT and Subversion will be able to give focused answers on one or the other).   • Is there a NVIDIA driver (for a 7-series card) that will actually work for 12.10?

    I see many similar topics on this, but I've tried all their suggestions, and nothing has worked. ISSUE: I do a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10. Boots fine with the “nouveau” graphics driver – graphics are very slow and choppy. The three other driver options in Ubuntu (official NVIDIA drivers), all result in a variation of the black screen on boot up. There will be NO access to a command line/GUI in anyway what-so-ever (tried every option recommended out there, but the system is unusable at this stage). I can only reinstall, and try different drivers…and I only ever get one shot at it. QUESTIONS: Does anyone know of a NVIDIA driver that will actually work with a Nvidia GeForce 7350LE? Or a 7-series card in general? This is my second computer, and I’m just trying to get a working install of Ubuntu on it. I don’t want to put much money into it, as I have seen Ubuntu run great on much older/less capable machines. I’ve got a decent Intel processor (2.3Ghz), 2GB of RAM, 320GB hard drive, 32-bit architecture, and there is no other O/S installed. It appears as if the graphics card is holding me back. Should I just buy a cheap graphics card (non-NVIDIA) to put in as a replacement? TRIED SO FAR: -all drivers available in Ubuntu *all fail -manual install of some different NVIDIA drivers *all fail -also tried installing the generic kernel, Nvidia driver doesn't work in 12.10 *no difference -every method suggested to at least get a command line after switching to a NVIDIA driver *all fail

  • Why does my .desktop file execute via double click but not from the menu?

    I've installed FTL: Faster Than Light on my girlfriend's Lubuntu machine and created a .desktop file for it. Strangely, the program won't launch via its menu entry under 'Games'. If I navigate to /home/andi/.local/share/applications/ via pcmanfm and double click on FTL Faster Than Light.desktop the game launches without a problem. I know the menu entry is generated through the .desktop file so why won't it launch from the menu? Here's the .desktop file I created: FTL Faster Than Light.desktop

If I do this, everything works as expected and I get a nice shiny new user in the database: var company = _model.Companies.First(); company.Users.Add(new User(1, "John", "Smith")); _model.SaveChanges(); However, if I do this, then I get nothing new in the database, and no exceptions thrown: var existingUser = _model.Users.First(); var company = existingUser.Company; company.Users.Add(new User(1, "John", "Smith")); _model.SaveChanges(); So it appears that if I add a User to the Company that is pulled directly from the model, then everything works fine. However if the User is added to a Company that is pulled as a navigation property of another object, then it doesn't work. Can someone tell me if this is expected behaviour, or if there is something I can do to make it so that it is? Thanks!

  • NullReferenceException when changing skin/theme via Application.Current.Resources

    I am writing an wpf application with multiple skins. The code to switch theme is as below: try { Application.Current.Resources.MergedDictionaries.Add( resource ); } catch( Exception ex ) { } The first time the code is called (to switch to a new theme), it is executed successfully; however, any subsequent calls to the same code would throw System.NullReferenceException. The way I set up my themes are similar to what described here: http://www.codewrecks.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/22/simple-skinnable-and-theme-management-in-wpf-user-interface/. Has anyone seen this error before? How do I go about debugging this since the exception is thrown else where? Any help is greatly appreciated.
