• why message box is always hidden behind main dialog and cannot be shown on the top

  I am using MFC to write a GUI application. I chose dialog-based application, and put picture control, edit box and buttons on it. When the picture control is mapped to the class derived from CWnd using DDX_Control, all the message boxes (including default system message box pop up when you enter invalid input in the edit box) are hidden behind main dialog until you use "alt + tab" to bring them to front. If I map the picture control to the default CStatic class, the above problem disappeared. Do anyone has some hints to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for any help.

• Visual Studio 2010 and Silverlight - Adding Data Sources

  Hello, I am interested in building a Silverlight application that uses RIA Services. I am using this video (http://live.visitmix.com/MIX10/Sessions/CL08) as an example. In that video, the presenter uses the "data sources" tab to populate the view. However, I cannot figure out how to add a data source from within Visual Studio 2010. I have a database on my local machine. This database is the sample AdventureWorks database. When I select my Silverlight application, there is a UserRegistrationContext in the data sources window. However, I cannot figure out how to add a new one that connects to my AdventureWorks database. Can somebody tell me how to do this? Thank you!

• How can I identifying control characters in Perl?

  I want to implement the command line features like in a linux terminal. I saw this in ftp command also. If I press tab I need to list the commands. If I press control characters I need to get that characters based on that I will do some action. And if I give any commands it should execute. For this I tried with Term::ReadKey that is in non-canonical mode. But here I am facing more problems like if I press any control character or arrow I got three characters. For the up arrow I got ASCII 27 91 65. Can anyone help me out of this problem?

• preventing window blur/focusOut when selecting copy/paste menu

  I am trying to determine when the user has moved focus out of the browser to: select copy/paste (but not to the google search box). Ffox handles this nicely. selecting another window/tab/external widget (e.g., the google search box). focusOut and blur listeners on window and document cannot seem to disambiguate between these two types of focus changes. Can IE do this? I want this distinction so that I can better support usability in my web app without losing focus.

• I can't seem to connecting any of my IBOutlets between IB and XCode.

  I created a new iPhone project using the built-in "tab bar" template. I put a few sliders, labels, textfields in the view. I added in needed code for: "IBOutlet, @property, @synthesize, and release" for the above UI objects. It saves and compiles without any errors or warnings. I try to hook-up my connections with control-drag, but don't see any of my IBOutlets appearing in the list. I can't seem to "connect" any outlets from IB to my code. (My IBActions all connect fine) What did I do wrong?

• Shift browser contents to the left while viewing in wide screen

  I use a widescreen laptop. Many websites have their content centre aligned. On wider screens this means lot of empty space on left and right. As such this is not a botheration. Many a times, I read some instructions on the web page and type them out on the command prompt. I prefer to overlay the command prompt window on top of the browser and if the browser contents are left aligned (or right aligned), then I need not Alt-tab across these windows. I use Firefox on Ubuntu. I use the command line (konsole) heavily. I know compiz (and similar) tools provides transparent windows so that the content beneath is visible. But I don't want to install compiz or its equivalent because my graphics driver is not all that good. Any addon or simple trick that would shift the page content to the left (or right) would be very helpful (read productive).

  I'm not sure if the title properly explains what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to move from using SQL Reporting Services to a Crystal Reports Web App. I've gotten some reports to design properly because they are simple cross-tab reports that require nothing special. I'm running into a little problem of a user matrix report. Here's how the report looks on SQL Reporting Services: group1 group2 group3 username1 first1 last1 title1 X X username2 first2 last2 title2 X X 2 1 1 Normally in VS2008 with a SQL rdl, I would right click on the row and Insert Column. However, i don't see a way to do this in Crystal Reports. I've tried setting up multiple row groups, but that adds mutliple groupings like: group1 Total ... Username Total ... first Total ... last ...

• iPhone UI: No edit button for UITableView, bad idea?

  I have a UITableViewController which lets the user drill down into different records. On the second level/view, the user can add and edit new records. But, I am not sure what to do, since the back button is on the top left, and I need to put the "Add" button on the top right, so there is no room (keeping to HIG) for the edit button, which would normally go where the back button is. (I am using a tab bar, so can't put it at the bottom.) Do you think that it is logical, to expect users to know to swipe to delete a record? Or, do I need to have an edit button? If I DO need an edit button, where should I put it if I am following HIG?

  I'm building a multiple webbrowser inside tabs( 1 predefine webbrowser control per tab) and I want them all to load at the same time or other words must run in thread. Unfortunately I feel a valid fact came from the error message that this is something not possible. • how to start with php code sniffer

  Hi, I have all written code and i want to this code standarise by php code sniffer. I would like to know what is the best way to start with it . I had installed it but when i run the command phpcs /path/to/code/myfile.php in the command line i got the last one hundered line error from 310 to 410 . but if i want to see the starting errors of any line error how can i see that . Mostly errors are 322 | ERROR | Spaces must be used to indent lines; tabs are not allowed 322 | ERROR | Line indented incorrectly; expected at least 8 spaces, found 2 How can i solve these things easily and in future it don't repeat , what it saying that i should not use tab , and use space , by using space it will take time . and how can i start with basic standard ,because don't want to utilise more time in this right now.   I downloaded: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2010 and Team Foundation Server® 2010 Beta 2 for Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Image When I go into the default installation of TFS project site in Sharepoint ( http://vs2010beta2/sites/DefaultCollection/IBuySpy/Dashboards/ProjectDashboard_wss.aspx ) I get this error on the webparts. There are no accessible team projects in this Team Project Collection. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. In the Team Server Admin Console - Team Project Collection - Team Projects tab the projects are there. This is the default installation. Any suggestions???

• Forbid GridView to load all views at once

  I have about 700 items to display in the grid view. On a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 this is not a problem: it has enough memory. On a HTC Explorer the heap is overflown. So I want to load data dynamically regarding current scroll position (N rows for screen + 5 rows as a tail). And I want to show a scrollbar which represents the position in total rows. But I don't want to draw items that I don't see. In other words, I want to create something similar to UITableView in iOS. How can I do this?

• Best way to store data for Greasemonkey based crawler?

  I want to crawl a site with Greasemonkey and wonder if there is a better way to temporarily store values than with GM_setValue. What I want to do is crawl my contacts in a social network and extract the Twitter URLs from their profile pages. My current plan is to open each profile in it's own tab, so that it looks more like a normal browsing person (ie css, scrits and images will be loaded by the browser). Then store the Twitter URL with GM_setValue. Once all profile pages have been crawled, create a page using the stored values. I am not so happy with the storage option, though. Maybe there is a better way? I have considered inserting the user profiles into the current page so that I could all process them with the same script instance, but I am not sure if XMLHttpRequest looks indistignuishable from normal user initiated requests.

  Trying to connect to 4D Database. PHPINFO says PDO is installed etc etc... Testing on localhost MAMP system.   This question is slightly related to programming and it's kinda lame, i know; but i saw many funny things in these years and i'm looking for new tricks from you. I'm talking about methods to fast-hide\camouflage not job related web pages on your desktop when boss arrives like a ghost\ninja behind your shoulders. I know how much can be frustrating, programming hard for ten hours and then been caught by your boss watching XKCD during a 2 minutes break. I think the most common anti boss trick is the evergreen CTRL+TAB, but you have to be fast and your left hand has to be near the keyboard. I saw pitch black brightness on Lcd (how can you pretend to program on that?) or custom sized browser to fit a little space just below the IDE. My favourite one at the moment is using fire gesture plugin with FF; with a micro gesture you can hide FF to your tray in a blink of an eye. Do you have any trick to share?

• ActionBarSherlock + ViewPager caching more then just prev/next view

  on the page: onCreate called for two tabs each time one tab is selected there is explained how the ABS(actually ViewPager) is working in order for ViewPager to be able to do a scrolling. It is clear that at least a prev/next page need all to be created at the same time. Would it be possible to "cache" more than just prev/next Views(Fragments), in a way: I am on Page 1 and there I have a network call to fetch some data(doing this in Activity, not in Fragment - btw. is this OK?) switch to Page 2, and then switch to Page 3, and then switch to Page 1 = Here my page is recreated (using some caching though, BUT, I do not need any recreation if possible) So, it would be nice to cache all the pages. How to accomplish this If possible in current version (4), or this would be some new feature? Or even better question, how to postpond/disable destroying of views?

• Is there an editor that shows WYSIWYG comments?

  Has anyone seen an editor/IDE that shows WYSIWYG comments inside the code? I have seen some that show the docs of an element in a separated tab/windows, but not together with code. For example, a JavaDoc comment would be much clearer and easier to edit if it had no tags and could be edited like a snippet from a normal text document. /** * Writes <code>Hello world!</code> to the <b>standard output</b>. * @seealso showGoodbye */ public static void showHello() { Could be something like this: /* Writes Hello world! to the standard output. • Not able to see Images with wmd-editor

  I am using wmd editor to enter some text. After entering the text, I am saving it as mark down into the database. While inserting the image, if I save as markdown I am not able to see the image in my aspx page.(Because it down not save image in <img> tab in markdown). If I save the text as html then, I am able to see the image. But another problem with html is, while editing the text I am seeing all tags(such as <code1><p>pre> ) in the wmd-editor.

• VS 2010: Can't insert snippet using shortcut - incompatibility with resharper 5???

  Hi there, i recently installed some snippets that come with a framework i am using. And sure enought i checked via Tools > Code Snippet Manager and they are installed under "My Code Snippets". If i do insert Snipper (right click in code window) or CTRL K + CTRL X then i can search within all available snippets.... But i do believe its possible to just type the shortcut key (in this case it is mvvmlocatorproperty) and pressing tab inserts the snippet BUT when i type the shortcut key it is not recognizing anything... What am i doing wrong?? This is not an incompatibility with resharper 5? - which i have installed Any ideas really appreciated

  I have a simple app where users type in stuff in a text filed to get various results. I would like a feature where if a user enters something and then closes the browser tab, the next time they come, I can show them their previous/recent searches. This will persist even if they close the whole browser and open it again. I believe this can be done by help of cookies. Are there some good rails3 gems for using cookies or any simple tutorial that could guide me in a direction?
