  • XSLT ... I can'f find a (working) find minimum value in XML and set variable

    - by Bob
    I've search for hours and not found an example that allows for the very first position to be the lowest. I'm getting 'False' instead of the value returned .... EDIT: Oddly enough if I run a 2nd instance as MAX_Landed with ascending it returns a value just fine. If I switch the order in the XSLT the first instance will return 'False' and the 2nd will work. Hope I'm making sense ..... Example XML which I can't get formatted to show correctly and in a hurry so you get the gist I hope: <?xml version="1.0"?> <GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse xmlns="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01"> <GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult ASIN="0470067802" status="Success"> <AllOfferListingsConsidered>false</AllOfferListingsConsidered> <Product xmlns="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01" xmlns:ns2="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01/default.xsd"> <LowestOfferListings> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>15.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>16.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>18.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> </LowestOfferListings> </Product> </GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult> </GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse> Example XSLT : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0" xmlns:amz="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01" exclude-result-prefixes="amz"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:variable name="MIN_Landed"> <xsl:for-each select="//Amount"> <xsl:sort data-type="number" order="ascending"/> <xsl:if test="position()=1"><xsl:value-of select="."/></xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:variable> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT BUILD="" NAME="" VERSION=""/> <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="M/d/yyyy" LAYOUT="" NAME="" RECORDS="1" TIMEFORMAT="h:mm:ss a"/> <METADATA> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="DATA" TYPE="TEXT"/> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="Min_Landed" TYPE="TEXT"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET> <xsl:attribute name="FOUND">1</xsl:attribute> <xsl:for-each select="amz:GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse/amz:GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult/amz:Product/amz:LowestOfferListings/amz:LowestOfferListing"> <ROW> <xsl:attribute name="MODID">0</xsl:attribute> <xsl:attribute name="RECORDID">1</xsl:attribute> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="amz:Qualifiers/amz:ItemCondition"/> </DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="$MIN_Landed"/> </DATA> </COL> </ROW> </xsl:for-each> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> HELP PLEASE!   • Creating packages in code - Package Configurations

Continuing my theme of building various types of packages in code, this example shows how to building a package with package configurations. Incidentally it shows you how to add a variable, and a connection too. It covers the five most common configurations: Configuration File Indirect Configuration File SQL Server Indirect SQL Server Environment Variable  For a general overview try the SQL Server Books Online Package Configurations topic. The sample uses a a simple helper function ApplyConfig to create or update a configuration, although in the example we will only ever create. The most useful knowledge is the configuration string (Configuration.ConfigurationString) that you need to set. Configuration Type Configuration String Description Configuration File The full path and file name of an XML configuration file. The file can contain one or more configuration and includes the target path and new value to set. Indirect Configuration File An environment variable the value of which contains full path and file name of an XML configuration file as per the Configuration File type described above. SQL Server A three part configuration string, with each part being quote delimited and separated by a semi-colon. -- The first part is the connection manager name. The connection tells you which server and database to look for the configuration table. -- The second part is the name of the configuration table. The table is of a standard format, use the Package Configuration Wizard to help create an example, or see the sample script files below. The table contains one or more rows or configuration items each with a target path and new value. -- The third and final part is the optional filter name. A configuration table can contain multiple configurations, and the filter is  literal value that can be used to group items together and act as a filter clause when configurations are being read. If you do not need a filter, just leave the value empty. Indirect SQL Server An environment variable the value of which is the three part configuration string as per the SQL Server type described above. Environment Variable An environment variable the value of which is the value to set in the package. This is slightly different to the other examples as the configuration definition in the package also includes the target information. In our ApplyConfig function this is the only example that actually supplies a target value for the Configuration.PackagePath property. The path is an XPath style path for the target property, \Package.Variables[User::Variable].Properties[Value], the equivalent of which can be seen in the screenshot below, with the object being our variable called Variable, and the property to set is the Value property of that variable object. The configurations as seen when opening the generated package in BIDS: The sample code creates the package, adds a variable and connection manager, enables configurations, and then adds our example configurations. The package is then saved to disk, useful for checking the package and testing, before finally executing, just to prove it is valid. There are some external resources used here, namely some environment variables and a table, see below for more details. namespace Konesans.Dts.Samples { using System; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime; public class PackageConfigurations { public void CreatePackage() { // Create a new package Package package = new Package(); package.Name = "ConfigurationSample"; // Add a variable, the target for our configurations package.Variables.Add("Variable", false, "User", 0); // Add a connection, for SQL configurations // Add the SQL OLE-DB connection ConnectionManager connectionManagerOleDb = package.Connections.Add("OLEDB"); connectionManagerOleDb.Name = "SQLConnection"; connectionManagerOleDb.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=master;Integrated Security=SSPI;"; // Add our example configurations, first must enable package setting package.EnableConfigurations = true; // Direct configuration file, see sample file this.ApplyConfig(package, "Configuration File", DTSConfigurationType.ConfigFile, "C:\\Temp\\XmlConfig.dtsConfig", string.Empty); // Indirect configuration file, the emvironment variable XmlConfigFileEnvironmentVariable // contains the path to the configuration file, e.g. C:\Temp\XmlConfig.dtsConfig this.ApplyConfig(package, "Indirect Configuration File", DTSConfigurationType.IConfigFile, "XmlConfigFileEnvironmentVariable", string.Empty); // Direct SQL Server configuration, uses the SQLConnection package connection to read // configurations from the [dbo].[SSIS Configurations] table, with a filter of "SampleFilter" this.ApplyConfig(package, "SQL Server", DTSConfigurationType.SqlServer, "\"SQLConnection\";\"[dbo].[SSIS Configurations]\";\"SampleFilter\";", string.Empty); // Indirect SQL Server configuration, the environment variable "SQLServerEnvironmentVariable" // contains the configuration string e.g. "SQLConnection";"[dbo].[SSIS Configurations]";"SampleFilter"; this.ApplyConfig(package, "Indirect SQL Server", DTSConfigurationType.ISqlServer, "SQLServerEnvironmentVariable", string.Empty); // Direct environment variable, the value of the EnvironmentVariable environment variable is // applied to the target property, the value of the "User::Variable" package variable this.ApplyConfig(package, "EnvironmentVariable", DTSConfigurationType.EnvVariable, "EnvironmentVariable", "\\Package.Variables[User::Variable].Properties[Value]"); #if DEBUG // Save package to disk, DEBUG only new Application().SaveToXml(String.Format(@"C:\Temp\{0}.dtsx", package.Name), package, null); Console.WriteLine(@"C:\Temp\{0}.dtsx", package.Name); #endif // Execute package package.Execute(); // Basic check for warnings foreach (DtsWarning warning in package.Warnings) { Console.WriteLine("WarningCode : {0}", warning.WarningCode); Console.WriteLine(" SubComponent : {0}", warning.SubComponent); Console.WriteLine(" Description : {0}", warning.Description); Console.WriteLine(); } // Basic check for errors foreach (DtsError error in package.Errors) { Console.WriteLine("ErrorCode : {0}", error.ErrorCode); Console.WriteLine(" SubComponent : {0}", error.SubComponent); Console.WriteLine(" Description : {0}", error.Description); Console.WriteLine(); } package.Dispose(); } /// <summary> /// Add or update an package configuration. /// </summary> /// <param name="package">The package.</param> /// <param name="name">The configuration name.</param> /// <param name="type">The type of configuration</param> /// <param name="setting">The configuration setting.</param> /// <param name="target">The target of the configuration, leave blank if not required.</param> internal void ApplyConfig(Package package, string name, DTSConfigurationType type, string setting, string target) { Configurations configurations = package.Configurations; Configuration configuration; if (configurations.Contains(name)) { configuration = configurations[name]; } else { configuration = configurations.Add(); } configuration.Name = name; configuration.ConfigurationType = type; configuration.ConfigurationString = setting; configuration.PackagePath = target; } } } The following table lists the environment variables required for the full example to work along with some sample values. • Building KPIs to monitor your business Its not really about the Technology

When I have discussions with people about Business Intelligence, one of the questions the inevitably come up is about building KPIs and how to accomplish that. From a technical level the concept of a KPI is very simple, almost too simple in that it is like the tip of an iceberg floating above the water. The key to that iceberg is not really the tip, but the mass of the iceberg that is hidden beneath the surface upon which the tip sits. The analogy of the iceberg is not meant to indicate that the foundation of the KPI is overly difficult or complex. The disparity in size in meant to indicate that the larger thing that needs to be defined is not the technical tip, but the underlying business definition of what the KPI means. From a technical perspective the KPI consists of primarily the following items: Actual Value This is the actual value data point that is being measured. An example would be something like the amount of sales. Target Value This is the target goal for the KPI. This is a number that can be measured against Actual Value. An example would be $10,000 in monthly sales. Target Indicator Range This is the definition of ranges that define what type of indicator the user will see comparing the Actual Value to the Target Value. Most often this is defined by stoplight, but can be any indicator that is going to show a status in a quick fashion to the user. Typically this would be something like: Red Light = Actual Value more than 5% below target; Yellow Light = Within 5% of target either direction; Green Light = More than 5% higher than Target Value Status\Trend Indicator This is an optional attribute of a KPI that is typically used to show some kind of trend. The vast majority of these indicators are used to show some type of progress against a previous period. As an example, the status indicator might be used to show how the monthly sales compare to last month. With this type of indicator there needs to be not only a definition of what the ranges are for your status indictor, but then also what value the number needs to be compared against. So now we have an idea of what data points a KPI consists of from a technical perspective lets talk a bit about tools. As you can see technically there is not a whole lot to them and the choice of technology is not as important as the definition of the KPIs, which we will get to in a minute. There are many different types of tools in the Microsoft BI stack that you can use to expose your KPI to the business. These include Performance Point, SharePoint, Excel, and SQL Reporting Services. There are pluses and minuses to each technology and the right technology is based a lot on your goals and how you want to deliver the information to the users. Additionally, there are other non-Microsoft tools that can be used to expose KPI indicators to your business users. Regardless of the technology used as your front end, the heavy lifting of KPI is in the business definition of the values and benchmarks for that KPI. The discussion about KPIs is very dependent on the history of an organization and how much they are exposed to the attributes of a KPI. Often times when discussing KPIs with a business contact who has not been exposed to KPIs the discussion tends to also be a session educating the business user about what a KPI is and what goes into the definition of a KPI. The majority of times the business user has an idea of what their actual values are and they have been tracking those numbers for some time, generally in Excel and all manually. So they will know the amount of sales last month along with sales two years ago in the same month. Where the conversation tends to get stuck is when you start discussing what the target value should be. The actual value is answering the What and How much questions. When you are talking about the Target values you are asking the question Is this number good or bad. Typically, the user will know whether or not the value is good or bad, but most of the time they are not able to quantify what is good or bad. Their response is usually something like I just know. Because they have been watching the sales quantity for years now, they can tell you that a 5% decrease in sales this month might actually be a good thing, maybe because the salespeople are all waiting until next month when the new versions come out. It can sometimes be very hard to break the business people of this habit. One of the fears generally is that the status indicator is not subjective. Thus, in the scenario above, the business user is going to be fearful that their boss, just looking at a negative red indicator, is going to haul them out to the woodshed for a bad month. But, on the flip side, if all you are displaying is the amount of sales, only a person with knowledge of last month sales and the target amount for this month would have any idea if $10,000 in sales is good or not. Here is where a key point about KPIs needs to be communicated to both the business user and any user who might be viewing the results of that KPI. The KPI is just one tool that is used to report on business performance. The KPI is meant as a quick indicator of one business statistic. It is not meant to tell the entire story. It does not answer the question Why. Its primary purpose is to objectively and quickly expose an area of the business that might warrant more review. There is always going to be the need to do further analysis on any potential negative or neutral KPI. So, hopefully, once you have convinced your business user to come up with some target numbers and ranges for status indicators, you then need to take the next step and help them answer the Why question. The main question here to ask is, Okay, you see the indicator and you need to discover why the number is what is, where do you go?. The answer is usually a combination of sources. A sales manager might have some of the following items at their disposal (Marketing report showing a decrease in the promotional discounts for the month, Pricing Report showing the reduction of prices of older models, an Inventory Report showing the discontinuation of a particular product line, or a memo showing the ending of a large affiliate partnership. The answers to the question Why are never as simple as a single indicator value. Bring able to quickly get to this information is all about designing how a user accesses the KPIs and then also how easily they can get to the additional information they need. This is where a Dashboard mentality can come in handy. For example, the business user can have a dashboard that shows their KPIs, but also has links to some of the common reports that they run regarding Sales Data. The users boss may have the same KPIs on their dashboard, but instead of links to individual reports they are going to have a link to a status report that was created by the user that pulls together all the data about the KPI in a summary format the users boss can review. So some of the key things to think about when building or evaluating KPIs for your organization: Technology should not be the driving factor KPIs are of little value without some indicator for whether a value is good, bad or neutral. KPIs only give an answer to the Is this number good\bad? question Make sure the ability to drill into the Why of a KPI is close at hand and relevant to the user who is viewing the KPI. The KPI is a key business tool when defined properly to help monitor business performance across the enterprise in an objective and consistent manner. At times it might feel like the process of defining the business aspects of a KPI can sometimes be arduous, the payoff in the end can far outweigh the costs. Some of the benefits of going through this process are a better understanding of the key metrics for an organization and the measure of those metrics and a consistent snapshot of business performance that can be utilized across the organization. And I think that these are benefits to any organization regardless of the technology or the implementation.Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? This blog post is inspired from SQL Interoperability Joes 2 Pros: A Guide to Integrating SQL Server with XML, C#, and PowerShell – SQL Exam Prep Series 70-433 – Volume 5. [Amazon] | [Flipkart] | [Kindle] | [IndiaPlaza] This is follow up blog post of my earlier blog post on the same subject - SQL SERVER – Introduction to Discovering XML Data Type Methods – A Primer. In the article we discussed various basics terminology of the XML. The article further covers following important concepts of XML. What are XML Data Type Methods The query() Method The value() Method The exist() Method The modify() Method Above five are the most important concepts related to XML and SQL Server. There are many more things one has to learn but without beginners fundamentals one can’t learn the advanced  concepts. Let us have small quiz and check how many of you get the fundamentals right. Quiz 1.) Which method returns an XML fragment from the source XML? query( ) value( ) exist( ) modify( ) All of them Only query( ) and value( ) 2.) Which XML data type method returns a “1” if found and “0” if the specified XPath is not found in the source XML? query( ) value( ) exist( ) modify( ) All of them Only query( ) and value( ) 3.) Which XML data type method allows you to pick the data type of the value that is returned from the source XML? query( ) value( ) exist( ) modify( ) All of them Only query( ) and value( ) 4.) Which method will not work with a SQL SELECT statement? query( ) value( ) exist( ) modify( ) All of them Only query( ) and value( ) Now make sure that you write down all the answers on the piece of paper. Watch following video and read earlier article over here. If you want to change the answer you still have chance. • Creating New Scripts Dynamically in Lua

    - by bazola
Right now this is just a crazy idea that I had, but I was able to implement the code and get it working properly. I am not entirely sure of what the use cases would be just yet. What this code does is create a new Lua script file in the project directory. The ScriptWriter takes as arguments the file name, a table containing any arguments that the script should take when created, and a table containing any instance variables to create by default. My plan is to extend this code to create new functions based on inputs sent in during its creation as well. What makes this cool is that the new file is both generated and loaded dynamically on the fly. Theoretically you could get this code to generate and load any script imaginable. One use case I can think of is an AI that creates scripts to map out it's functions, and creates new scripts for new situations or environments. At this point, this is all theoretical, though. Here is the test code that is creating the new script and then immediately loading it and calling functions from it: function Card:doScriptWriterThing() local scriptName = "ScriptIAmMaking" local scripter = scriptWriter:new(scriptName, {"argumentName"}, {name = "'test'", one = 1}) scripter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() local loadedScript = require (scriptName) local scriptInstance = loadedScript:new("sayThis") print(scriptInstance:get_name()) --will print test print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 1 scriptInstance:set_one(10000) print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 10000 print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) -- will print sayThis scriptInstance:set_argumentName("saySomethingElse") print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) --will print saySomethingElse end Here is ScriptWriter.lua local ScriptWriter = {} local twoSpaceIndent = " " local equalsWithSpaces = " = " local newLine = "\n" --scriptNameToCreate must be a string --argumentsForNew and instanceVariablesToCreate must be tables and not nil function ScriptWriter:new(scriptNameToCreate, argumentsForNew, instanceVariablesToCreate) local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self }) instance.name = scriptNameToCreate instance.newArguments = argumentsForNew instance.instanceVariables = instanceVariablesToCreate instance.stringList = {} return instance end function ScriptWriter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() self:buildInstanceMetatable() self:buildInstanceCreationMethod() self:buildSettersAndGetters() self:buildReturn() self:writeStringsToFile() end --very first line of any script that will have instances function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceMetatable() table.insert(self.stringList, "local " .. self.name .. ":new(")) self:buildNewArguments() table.insert(self.stringList, ")" .. newLine) --first line inside :new() function table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "instance." .. key .. equalsWithSpaces .. value .. newLine) end --close the :new() function table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return instance" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildNewArguments() --if there are arguments for :new(), add them for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do table.insert(self.stringList, value) table.insert(self.stringList, ", ") end if next(self.newArguments) ~= nil then --makes sure the table is not empty first table.remove(self.stringList) --remove the very last element, which will be the extra ", " end end function ScriptWriter:buildNewArgumentVariables() --add the designated arguments to :new() for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "instance." .. value .. equalsWithSpaces .. value .. newLine) end end --the instance variables need separate code because their names have to be the key and not the argument name function ScriptWriter:buildSettersAndGetters() for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do self:buildArgumentSetter(value) self:buildArgumentGetter(value) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end for key, value in pairs(self.instanceVariables) do self:buildInstanceVariableSetter(key, value) self:buildInstanceVariableGetter(key, value) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end end --code for arguments passed in function ScriptWriter:buildArgumentSetter(variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":set_" .. variable .. "(newValue)" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "self." .. variable .. equalsWithSpaces .. "newValue" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildArgumentGetter(variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":get_" .. variable .. "()" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return " .. "self." .. variable .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end --code for instance variable values passed in function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceVariableSetter(key, variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":set_" .. key .. "(newValue)" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "self." .. key .. equalsWithSpaces .. "newValue" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceVariableGetter(key, variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":get_" .. key .. "()" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return " .. "self." .. key .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end --last line of any script that will have instances function ScriptWriter:buildReturn() table.insert(self.stringList, "return " .. self.name) end function ScriptWriter:writeStringsToFile() local fileName = (self.name .. ".lua") file = io.open(fileName, 'w') for key, value in ipairs(self.stringList) do file:write(value) end file:close() end return ScriptWriter And here is what the code provided will generate: local ScriptIAmMaking = {} function ScriptIAmMaking:new(argumentName) local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self }) instance.argumentName = argumentName instance.name = 'test' instance.one = 1 return instance end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_argumentName(newValue) self.argumentName = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_argumentName() return self.argumentName end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_name(newValue) self.name = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_name() return self.name end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_one(newValue) self.one = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_one() return self.one end return ScriptIAmMaking All of this is generated with these calls: local scripter = scriptWriter:new(scriptName, {"argumentName"}, {name = "'test'", one = 1}) scripter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() I am not sure if I am correct that this could be useful in certain situations. What I am looking for is feedback on the readability of the code, and following Lua best practices. I would also love to hear whether this approach is a valid one, and whether the way that I have done things will be extensible.

  • How can I turn a column name into a result value in SQL Server?

    - by Brennan
I have a table which has essentially boolean values in a legacy database. The column names are stored as string values in another table so I need to match the column names of one table to a string value in another table. I know there has to be a way to do this directly with SQL in SQL Server but it is beyond me. My initial thought was to use PIVOT but it is not enabled by default and enabling it would likely be a difficult process with pushing that change to the Production database. I would prefer to use what is enabled by default. I am considering using COALESCE to translate the boolean value to the string that value that I need. This will be a manual process. I think I will also use a table variable to insert the results of the first query into that variable and use those results to do the second query. I still have the problem that the columns are on a single row so I wish I could easily pivot the values to put the column names in the result set as strings. But if I could easily do that I could easily write the query with a sub-select. Any tips are welcome.

  • Delete all rows that do not have the value: Criteria 1 or Criteria 2 or Criteria 3 in Column D --> Using VBA Macro for excel

    - by JDS
I am new to Macro's/VBA and cannot seem to figure out how to do this action for multiple criteria. I am trying to Delete all rows that do not have the value: Identify Fail or Identify Success in Column D. I write the following code and it works for one criteria "Identify Fail": '***********************************************' Sub DeleteRows() 'Action 1 --> Delete all Rows without Identify Fail in column D' Application.ScreenUpdating = False For i = Range("D" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row To 1 Step -1 If Range("D" & i).Value <> "Identify Fail" Then Rows(i).Delete shift:=xlUp Next i Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Sub '***********************************************' Once I try to add 'OR' with another criteria it does not work: '***********************************************' Sub DeleteRows() 'Action 1 --> Delete all Rows without Identify Fail in column D' Application.ScreenUpdating = False For i = Range("D" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row To 1 Step -1 If Range("D" & i).Value <> "Identify Fail" Or "Identify Success" Then Rows(i).Deleteshift:=xlUp Next i Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Sub '***********************************************' Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have been scouring this website and have not found an efficient code that will do the trick.

  • In My MVC Controller, Can I Add a Value to My HTML.DropDownList?

    - by Aaron Salazar
    In my view I have an HTML DropDownList that is filled, in my controller, using a List<string>. <%= Html.DropDownList("ReportedIssue", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData["ReportedIssue"]) %> List<string> reportedIssue = new List<string>(); reportedIssue.Add("All"); reportedIssue.Add(...); ViewData["ReportedIssue"] = new SelectList(reportedIssue); In my view the result is: <select name="ReportedIssue" id="ReportedIssue"><option>All</option> <option>All</option> <option>...</option> </select> Is there a way to do this and also include a value in each of the <option> tags like so? <select name="ReportedIssue" id="ReportedIssue"><option>All</option> <option value="0">All</option> <option value="1">...</option> </select> Thank you, Aaron

  • Which is better Java programming practice for looping up to an int value: a converted for-each loop

    - by Arvanem
Hi folks, Given the need to loop up to an arbitrary int value, is it better programming practice to convert the value into an array and for-each the array, or just use a traditional for loop? FYI, I am calculating the number of 5 and 6 results ("hits") in multiple throws of 6-sided dice. My arbitrary int value is the dicePool which represents the number of multiple throws. As I understand it, there are two options: Convert the dicePool into an array and for-each the array: public int calcHits(int dicePool) { int[] dp = new int[dicePool]; for (Integer a : dp) { // call throwDice method } } Use a traditional for loop. public int calcHits(int dicePool) { for (int i = 0; i < dicePool; i++) { // call throwDice method } } I apologise for the poor presentation of the code above (for some reason the code button on the Ask Question page is not doing what it should). My view is that option 1 is clumsy code and involves unnecessary creation of an array, even though the for-each loop is more efficient than the traditional for loop in Option 2. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

  • How do I insert an input's value into a separate form?

    - by ryan
I'm making a tool for my university that allows students to create a list of classes by doing the following: Searching by course title for their course via an autocomplete input field. Adding that course to a separate form that upon being submitted creates a course list. I am trying to link the autocomplete and the course list form with an 'add to course list' button that inserts a hidden input field into the course list form which can subsequently be submitted by a 'create course list' button. My question is this: How do I take the value of the autocomplete input and insert it into the course list form without using AJAX? So far I have something like the following: <%= text_field_with_auto_complete :course, :title, :size => 40 %> <%= link_to_function "Add to Course List" do |page| page.insert_html :top, :course_list, hidden_field(:courses, :course, {:value => "$('course_title').value"}) %> <% form_for(@course_list) do |f|%> <div id="course_list">Insert selected courses here.</div> <% end %>

  • Exclude specific value from a Min/Max agregate funcion using ICriteria.

    - by sparks
I have a schedule (Voyages) table like this: ID Arrival Departure OrderIndex 1 01/01/1753 02/10/2009 0 1 02/11/2009 02/15/2009 1 1 02/16/2009 02/19/2009 2 1 02/21/2009 01/01/1753 3 2 01/01/1753 03/01/2009 0 2 03/04/2009 03/07/2009 1 2 03/09/2009 01/01/1753 2 By design i save '01/01/1753' as a default value if the user doesn't fill a the field on the capture screen and for the very first Arrival and the very last Departure which are never provided. Im using Nhibernate and Criteria, and im wondering whats the best way to query this data if i want to know the First departure and last arrival for each voyage in the table. My first thought was a groupby (ID) and then do some Min and Max with the arrival and departure but the `'01/01/1753' VALUE is messing aronud. ... .SetProjection(Projections.ProjectionList() .Add(Projections.GroupProperty("ID"), "ID") .Add(Projections.Min("DepartureDate"), "DepartureDate") .Add(Projections.Max("ArrivalDate"), "ArrivalDate") ) ... So is there a way to skip this value in the Min function comparison (without losing the whole row of data), or there is a better way to do this, maybe utilizing the OrderIndex that always indicate the correct order of the elements, maybe ordering ASC taking the 1st and then Order DESC and taking the 1 st again, but im not quite sure how to do that with criteria syntax.

  • [php] Cookies only changing value every two page refreshes?

    - by Gazillion
Hello, I'm trying to implement some pixel tracking where I will save certain values in a cookie to then forward users to another page. If users purchase a product after being forwarded to the online store by us the store adds an image tag in the page with our php script included. With the values set in the cookie we would like to track conversions. I understand this tracking technique has some limitations (like if a user has cookies turned off or if they do not load images but that's the direction my client wanted to go in). The problem I'm having is that the cookie's behaviour is extremely... random. I've been trying to track their values (with a var_dump so I don't have to wait for a page reload to view the cookie's value) but it seems the value for one field only gets refreshed every two page reloads. setcookie("tracking[cn]", $cn, time()+3600*24*7,'/','mydomain.com'); setcookie("tracking[t]", $t, time()+3600*24*7,'/','mydomain.com'); setcookie("tracking[kid]", $kid, time()+3600*24*7,'/','mydomain.com'); redirectTo($redirect_url); the values of cn, t are fine but for some reason kid is always wrong (having taken the value of the previous kid) Any help would be extremely appreciated I've been at this all evening! :)

  • How does an NSTextField know that it's value has changed?

    - by Brian Postow
I have a textfield that can either be edited by hand, or set through another control. (It's a page number, so you can jump to page 16 by typing in 16, or you can page up and down with the next/prev buttons) I have the value of the text field bound to an int page variable. It seems to work correctly, when you type a page number in, it jumps, when you page up and down, the page number in the text box changes appropriately. However, at some level, when I page up and down, the text box doesn't seem to know that it's value has changed, because if I type 1 it doesn't do anything. It doesn't call the bound set-method or anything. It looks like the textfield is thinking "I'm already 1, so I don't need to do anything." Even though it was 5 because I hit next 4 times. If I type an number other than 1, it goes there. If I THEN type 1, it goes to page 1, because now it thinks it's on that other page. The problem seems to be that I'm changing the value of the textfield programatically, but some part isn't getting the message. Does this seem like a reasonable explanation? And either way, any ideas on what's causing it? thanks

  • How do I serialize an enum value as an int?

    - by Espo
I want to serialize my enum-value as an int, but i only get the name. Here is my (sample) class and enum: public class Request { public RequestType request; } public enum RequestType { Booking = 1, Confirmation = 2, PreBooking = 4, PreBookingConfirmation = 5, BookingStatus = 6 } And the code (just to be sure i'm not doing it wrong) Request req = new Request(); req.request = RequestType.Confirmation; XmlSerializer xml = new XmlSerializer(req.GetType()); StringWriter writer = new StringWriter(); xml.Serialize(writer, req); textBox1.Text = writer.ToString(); This answer (to another question) seems to indicate that enums should serialize to ints as default, but it doesn't seem to do that. Here is my output: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <Request xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <request>Confirmation</request> </Request> I have been able to serialize as the value by putting an "[XmlEnum("X")]" attribute on every value, but this just seems wrong.

  • how to check null value of Integer type field in ASP.NET MVC view?

    - by Vikas
Hi, I have integer type field in database which is having property "Not Null". when i create a view & do a validation, if i left that field blank, it will consider it as 0 so i can not compare it with 0 because if someone insert a value 0 then it will be considered as error! one another problem is that i am using Model error as described in the book "ASP.NET MVC 1.0" @ Scott Gu blog. And I am checking the value in partial class of object (created by LINQ-To-SQL). i.e public partial class Person { public bool IsValid { get { return (GetRuleViolations().Count() == 0); } } public IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations() { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(Name)) yield return new RuleViolation("Name is Required", "Name"); if (Age == 0) yield return new RuleViolation("Age is Required", "Age"); yield break; } partial void OnValidate(ChangeAction action) { if (!IsValid) throw new ApplicationException("Rule violations prevent saving"); } } There is also problem with range. Like in database if i declared as smallint i.e. short in c#, now if i exceed that range then it gives error as "A Value is reguired". so finally is there any best way for validation in ASP.NET MVC?

  • Can we manipulate (subtract) the value of a property while template bidning?

    - by Subhen
Hi, I am currently defining few grids as following: <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height-Height/5}"/> <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height/15}"/> <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height/20}"/> <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height/6}"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> While the division works fine , the subtraction isn't yielding the output. Ialso tried like following: <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height-(Height/5)}"/> Still no result. Any suggestions plz. Thanks, Subhen ** Update ** Now In My XAML I tried implementing the IvalueConverter like : <RowDefinition Height="{TemplateBinding Height, Converter={StaticResource heightConverter}}"/> Added the reference as <local:medieElementHeight x:Key="heightConverter"/> In side generic.cs I have coded as following: public class medieElementHeight : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { //customVideoControl objVdeoCntrl=new customVideoControl(); double custoMediaElementHeight = (double)value;//objVdeoCntrl.customMediaPlayer.Height; double mediaElementHeight = custoMediaElementHeight - (custoMediaElementHeight / 5); return mediaElementHeight; } #region IValueConverter Members object IValueConverter.ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } #endregion } But getting the exception Unknown Element Height in the element RowDefination.

  • How do you work around memcached's key/value limitations?

    - by mjy
Memcached has length limitations for keys (250?) and values (roughtly 1MB), as well as some (to my knowledge) not very well defined character restrictions for keys. What is the best way to work around those in your opinion? I use the Perl API Cache::Memcached. What I do currently is store a special string for the main key's value if the original value was too big ("parts:<number") and in that case, I store <number parts with keys named 1+<main key, 2+<main key etc.. This seems "OK" (but messy) for some cases, not so good for others and it has the intrinsic problem that some of the parts might be missing at any time (so space is wasted for keeping the others and time is wasted reading them). As for the key limitations, one could probably implement hashing and store the full key (to work around collisions) in the value, but I haven't needed to do this yet. Has anyone come up with a more elegant way, or even a Perl API that handles arbitrary data sizes (and key values) transparently? Has anyone hacked the memcached server to support arbitrary keys/values?

  • jquery dialog is clearing my form fields and I need to return a value from a jquery dialog

    - by Seth
1.) I have a jQuery dialog that is opened whenever a particular textbox is focused. The dialog's contents are loaded from ajax and the unique ID of the textbox that was focused is passed in the ajax call (like this): $('[name=start_airport[]],[name=finish_airport[]]').click(function(){   var id = $(this).attr('id');   if($('#use_advanced_airport_selector').attr('checked')) {     $('#advanced_airport_selector').dialog({       open : function() {         $(this).load('/flight-booker/advanced-airport-selector.php?callerID='+id);       }     });     $('#advanced_airport_selector').dialog('open');   } }); (where advanced_airport_selector is an empty div) THAT PART WORKS FINE. However, when I make my ajax call within my dialog, all my form values are reset! No matter what I do, when that dialog opens, all form values are reset (not just the value of the textbox that was focused). I simply don't understand what would cause this behavior! But that's only issue #1. 2.) I need to be able to return a value from that dialog box. I am passing the ID in the ajax query so that I can use a jquery selector to update the caller's value after certain actions are performed within the dialog box. However, I can't actually access that textbox because of DOM_ERRORS that I've never come across. It doesn't make any sense! There's way to much code to post, and it's really hard to explain, so sorry if I'm unclear as to what I'm asking.
