    I have a text file that contains a number of the following: <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> I have a very simple regex for stripping these out into a constant block so it's just: <Quote> <Quote> <Quote> What I'd like to do is present the quotes as a block to the user, and have them select it (using jQuery.fieldSelection) and then use the selected content to back out to the original array, so I can get timing and IDs. Because this has to go out to HTML, and the user has to be able to select the text on the screen, I can't do anything like hidden divs or hidden input fields. The only data I will have is the character range selected on screen. To be specific, this is what it looks like: 1 0:00 --> 0:05 He was bored. So bored.   • Slow performance when utilizing Interop.DSOFile to search files by Custom Document Property

    I am new to the world of VB.NET and have been tasked to put together a little program to search a directory of about 2000 Excel spreadsheets and put together a list to display based on the value of a Custom Document Property within that spreadsheet file. Given that I am far from a computer programmer by education or trade, this has been an adventure. I've gotten it to work, the results are fine. The problem is, it takes well over a minute to run. It is being run over a LAN connection. When I run it locally (using a 'test' directory of about 300 files) it executes in about 4 seconds. I'm not sure even what to expect as a reasonable execution speed, so I thought I would ask here. The code is below, if anyone thinks changes there might be of use in speeding things up.   • Large data processing in x86 C# gives System.OutOfMemory exception

    I am processing XML coming from server which contains both images and data in one C# function (compiled 32 bit). When I try to parse this xml in memory it gives me System.OutOfMemory exception. Is there any way to avoid this error? My guess is, system cannot find contiguous block of 50-100MB memory. (my pc hv 8Gig ram and its quad core)

  • CSS drop-down menus pushing page content down

    This is probably (hopefully) a pretty simple question, but I can't seem to get it to work so I'll turn to the experts here. I'm using a pretty straightforward CSS drop-down menu, with just a little JQuery involved. The issue is that when I hover over the drop-down and it opens, it's pushing everything on the page down below it rather then opening over it. I've tried messing with the z-index but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Any tips would be fantastic, thanks in advance.   • Sticky Footer Dilemma - so close

    I have an effective sticky footer solution, but I have a slight conflict because of the need for a background image in addition to the repeating banner image across the top. In order to make the large watermark type image show up on this site I added the following div: <div id="body-outer"> The only problem is that once I add this div tag, the footer climbs up the page, overriding all content in its path. If I remove that div, the footer is as sticky as one could hope. Is there some way to have the background image and the sticky footer too?     I need to catch two different swipping gestures using UISwipeGestureRecognizer(for example, UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionRight and UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionLeft). When I add two different recognisers with addGestureRecognizer method, only last added recognizer works. I've read that I need to implement gestureRecognizer:shouldRecognizeSimultaneouslyWithGestureRecognizer: method of UIGestureRecognizerDelegate protocol, but nothing works.     They say that compacting garbage collectors are faster than traditional memory management because they only have to collect live objects, and by rearranging them in memory so everything's in one contiguous block, you end up with no heap fragmentation. But how can that be done quickly? It seems to me that that's equivalent to the bin-packing problem, which is NP-hard and can't be completed in a reasonable amount of time on a large dataset within the current limits of our knowledge about computation. What am I missing?

  • Extending Jquery validate to show/hide div or clear div after validate is ran

    Right now i have all of my errors outputting to a div. Id like to catch the validate event and clear the div right before its ran of my old errors. Then id like to show/hide that div based on if it has any labels in it that were auto generated by the jquery validation plugin. Now if I run both applications and observe opened TCP connections using netstat, I find that: If both client and server are running on same machine, number of tcp connections are equal to number of proxy objects. It means all requests are being served in parallel. Which is good. If I run server on a separate machine, I observed that maximum 2 TCP connections are opened regardless of the number of proxy objects I create. Only 2 requests run in parallel. It hurts the processing speed badly. If I switch to net.tcp binding, everything works fine (a separate TCP connection for each proxy object even if they are running on different machines). I am very confused and unable to make the basicHttpBinding use more TCP connections. I know it is a long question, but please help!
