  • How do PGP and PEM differ?

    - by Dummy Derp
Email messages are sent in plain text which means that the messages I send to Derpina are visible to anyone who somehow gets access to them while they are in transit. To overcome this, various encryption mechanisms were developed. PEM and PGP are two of them. PEM - canonically converts-adds digital signature-encrypts and sends PGP does exactly the same. So where do they differ? Or is it that PGP (being a program) is used to generate a PEM message?

  • Macro to copy data from one sheet to another based on the current date

    - by SgtSnafu
Does anyone have a macro that copy data from one sheet to another based on the current date? I am working with a single workbook of three sheets. Sheet one will hold the manual input of daily production figures for multiple plants, sheet two is to hold ongoing daily data, keyed on sheet one. The macro will be associated with a button, so that once clicked it would search for every row that has a date of today, and copy that row to the next available blank row on sheet two. Sample Data... Plant 1 Input Date - $ Produced - Labor Hour 3-29-10 - 4538 - 8 3-30-10 - 7862 - 12 3-31-10 4-1-10 4-2-10 Plant 2 Input Date - $ Produced - Labor Hour 3-29-10 - 4545 - 9 3-30-10 - 7645 - 12 3-31-10 4-1-10 4-2-10

  • As the current draft stands, what is the most significant change the "National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace" will provoke?

    - by mfg
A current draft of the "National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace" has been posted by the Department of Homeland Security. This question is not asking about privacy or constitutionality, but about how this act will impact developers' business models and development strategies. When the post was made I was reminded of Jeff's November blog post regarding an internet driver's license. Whether that is a perfect model or not, both approaches are attempting to handle a shared problem (of both developers and end users): How do we establish an online identity? The question I ask here is, with respect to the various burdens that would be imposed on developers and users, what are some of the major, foreseeable implementation issues that will arise from the current U.S. Government's proposed solution? For a quick primer on the setup, jump to page 12 for infrastructure components, here are two stand-outs: An Identity Provider (IDP) is responsible for the processes associated with enrolling a subject, and establishing and maintaining the digital identity associated with an individual or NPE. These processes include identity vetting and proofing, as well as revocation, suspension, and recovery of the digital identity. The IDP is responsible for issuing a credential, the information object or device used during a transaction to provide evidence of the subject’s identity; it may also provide linkage to authority, roles, rights, privileges, and other attributes. The credential can be stored on an identity medium, which is a device or object (physical or virtual) used for storing one or more credentials, claims, or attributes related to a subject. Identity media are widely available in many formats, such as smart cards, security chips embedded in PCs, cell phones, software based certificates, and USB devices. Selection of the appropriate credential is implementation specific and dependent on the risk tolerance of the participating entities. Here are the first considered actionable components of the draft: Action 1: Designate a Federal Agency to Lead the Public/Private Sector Efforts Associated with Achieving the Goals of the Strategy Action 2: Develop a Shared, Comprehensive Public/Private Sector Implementation Plan Action 3:Accelerate the Expansion of Federal Services, Pilots, and Policies that Align with the Identity Ecosystem Action 4:Work Among the Public/Private Sectors to Implement Enhanced Privacy Protections Action 5:Coordinate the Development and Refinement of Risk Models and Interoperability Standards Action 6: Address the Liability Concerns of Service Providers and Individuals Action 7: Perform Outreach and Awareness Across all Stakeholders Action 8: Continue Collaborating in International Efforts Action 9: Identify Other Means to Drive Adoption of the Identity Ecosystem across the Nation

  • how to tell Rails RSpec that spec is "type helper"

    - by equivalent8
I wrote *simple_form* input extension that is located in app/inputs/something_input.rb I'm trying to write RSpec for this. When I put this spec inside spec/helpers/application_helper_spec.rb everything was working without single problem. # spec/helpers/application_helper_spec.rb require 'spec_helper' describe ApplicationHelper do it do helper.simple_form_for @foo,:method=>'get', :url=>helper.users_path do |f| f.input :created_at, :as =>:custom_datepicker end.should =~ /something/ end end Now I'm trying to move that spec to spec/inputs/something_input_spec.rb so it will be similar name path. # spec/imputs/something_input_spec.rb require 'spec_helper' describe SomethingInput do it do helper.simple_form_for @foo,:method=>'get', :url=>helper.users_path do |f| f.input :created_at, :as =>:custom_datepicker end.should =~ /something/ end end # #ERROR: undefined local variable or method `helper' for #<RSpec::Core::ExampleGroup the thing I want to tell RSpec to threat this file as type helper spec, so I will have helper method availible with all the RSpec::Rails::HelperExampleGroup functionality ... how can I do that ?? I was trying to extend/include it with RSpec::Rails::HelperExampleGroup nothing seems to work

  • Problem of using cin twice.

    - by gc
Here is the code: string str; cinstr; cout<<"first input:"<<str<<endl; getline(cin, str); cout<<"line input:"<<str<<endl; The result is that getline never pauses for user input, therefore the second output is always empty. After spending some time on it, I realized after the first call "cinstr", it seems '\n' is still stored in cin (using cin.peek() to check), which ends getline immediately. The solution will be adding one more line between the first usage and the second one: cin.ignore(numeric_limits::max(), '\n'); However, I still don't understand, why is '\n' left there after the first call? What does istream& operator really do?

  • Check if checkbox is checked or not (ASPX)

    - by cthulhu
    I have the following code: (some.aspx.cs) if(Page.IsPostBack) { bool apple2 = false; bool pizza2 = false; bool orange2 = false; if (apple.Checked) apple2 = true; if (pizza.Checked) pizza2 = true; if (orange.Checked) orange2 = true; } (some.aspx) <tr> <td>Food:</td> <td>Apple <input type="checkbox" name="food" id="apple" value="apple" runat="server" />Pizza <input type="checkbox" name="food" id="pizza" value="pizza" runat="server" />Orange <input type="checkbox" name="food" id="orange" value="orange" runat="server" /></td> Now, i send the Boolean variables to SQL database. The problem is only with unchecked boxes. I mean, when you check some checkboxes it sends it as true (and that's right) but when i uncheck them it remains the same (true).

  • jQuery Validation 1.10 and MVC server-side errors

    - by sam360
This feature used to work just fine on my website. If I added a custom error to ModelState, the input on the page would be marked as "input-validation-error" and the Html.ValidationMessage() would take care of rendering a span with the error message inside it. Due to incompatibility reasons we had to upgrade our jQuery Validation to 1.10: Now when I add a custom error to ModelState, I can debug and see that the HTML elements being rendered correctly, but as soon as the page load is completed, jQuery Validation removes the error message and set the "class" attribute of the input to "valid"! Has any one else come across this issue? UPDATE Testing further shows that the error message is shown on the screen until the field gains focus. As soon as the field gains focus jQuery Validation removes the customer server-side error message and marks the field as good.

  • Flex 3 Regular Expression Problem

    - by Tommy
I've written a url validator for a project I am working on. For my requirements it works great, except when the last part for the url goes longer than 22 characters it breaks. My expression: /((https?):\/\/)([^\s.]+.)+([^\s.]+)(:\d+\/\S+)/i It expects input that looks like "http(s)://hostname:port/location". When I give it the input: https://demo10:443/111112222233333444445 it works, but if I pass the input https://demo10:443/1111122222333334444455 it breaks. You can test it out easily at http://ryanswanson.com/regexp/#start. Oddly, I can't reproduce the problem with just the relevant (I would think) part /(:\d+\/\S+)/i. I can have as many characters after the required / and it works great. Any ideas or known bugs?

  • Create a rich text control field in VBA for Word 2010

    - by mkn
I have a control field where I dynamically add certain text. That works well so far. The problem is that in one text I have an input field where the user can type in text. I need to hardcode the form text input field into the VBA code. How is this achieved? Or can someone point me in the right direction? In the following code snippet I need to replace the [InputField] by a VBA input field. ActiveDocument.SelectContentControlsByTitle("Bottom").Item(1).Range.Text = _ "Some Text" & vbNewLine & _ "Some Text" & vbNewLine & _ "Some Text" & vbNewLine & _ "Text [InputField] Text"

  • MooTools - Programmatically fired events not working with event delegation

    - by Anurag
Would really appreciate if anyone can help me figure out why I am unable to fire events programmatically when using event delegation in MooTools (from the Element.Delegation class). There is a parent <div> that has a change listener on some child <input> elements. When the change event is triggered by user actions, the handler on the parent div gets triggered, but when I fire it programmatically with fireEvent on any child input, nothing happens. The basic setup is: html <div id="listener"> <input type="text" id="color" class="color" /> ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????</div>??????????? js $("listener").addEvent("change:relay(.color)", function() { alert("changed!!"); }); $("color").fireEvent("change"); // nothing happens The event handler on the parent div does not get called. Any help is appreciated. Cheers!

  • Codeigniter form action with slashes instead of normal GETs?

    - by Ethan
Hey, so this is one of those questions that seems obvious, and I'm probably going to feel stupid, but here goes: I'm doing a CodeIgniter site with a search. Think of a Google type input, where you'd search for "white huskies." I have a search results page that takes a URI (MySite.com/dogs/white huskies), and takes the third part, and performs the search on that term. I'd like this to be done in the URI, and no by POST so my users can bookmark results. The problem I'm having is how to get that search button directed to Mysite.com/dogs/WHATEVER IS IN THE INPUT. How do I get the what is in the input part into the anchor href? I know I could do this with javascript, but I've heard it's bad practice to force people to have javascript for things this small. Thanks for the help!

  • Jquery: Handling Checkbox Click Event with JQuery

    - by wcolbert
    I can't figure out what is going on here. I have some nested lists of checkboxes that I would like to check when the parent is checked. More importantly, I can't even get the alert to show up. It's as if the click event is not firing. Any ideas? $(document).ready(function() { $("#part_mapper_list input[type=checkbox]").click(function(){ alert("clicked"); if ($(this).attr("checked") == "checked"){ $(this + " input").attr("checked") = "checked"; } else { $(this + " input").attr("checked") = ""; } }); }
