  • User management with aspnet membership provider

    Hi guys, Just a general question really. I have taken on the management of an application written in C# MVC that uses the asp.net membership api. With this a user can register, change their password, etc. My application consists of two areas, administrator and user. This adminstrator's area has lots of custom admin functionality relating to the application, however has no functionality utilizing the membership api. I want to be able to use the membership api for user management functions such as resetting a password of a user who has forgotten theirs, lock users out, etc. Are there any resources or articles out there that delve into this aspect of using the membership api? Any help would be appreciated :) thanks

  • VisualSVN Server + Trac Authentication Problems

    I have Trac set up on my VisualSVN server (using Subversion authentication), however every time I navigate to the Trac home page after opening the browser, I get the basic authentication dialog asking me for my username/password. What I would like to do is have a login form in Trac, which would allow me to log in forever using cookies. I have tried installing the AccountManagerPlugin, but I am completely unsure of how to correctly set it up. (I am used to working with IIS on corporate intranets, so this is kind of alien to me) I have managed to bypass the basic authentication dialog by setting this in my httpd-custom.conf: AuthName "Trac" AuthType Basic AuthBasicProvider file AuthUserFile "E:/Repositories/htpasswd" #Require valid-user I have tried using SvnServePasswordStore as my password store but I do not know which of the files in the repository directory to point it at. Help would be appreciated!

  • App Engine - Objectify - Storing a byte[]

    I'm using the Objectify library for interfacing with the app engine datastore. In my User class, I store the hashed password as a byte[]. When I put it in the datastore, it is correctly stored as a blob. When I try to load the User object back out I get this error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot load non-collection value '<Blob: 40 bytes>' into private byte[] How do I fix this? Do I have to change my User class to have the hashed password be of type ShortBlob?

    We have been using Perl's Net:Twitter CPAN module (version 3.12) and basic authentication (not OAuth) for almost a year now to syndicate updates from our site to our Twitter account. We just migrated to a new server last week and since the move our updates to Twitter have stopped and the following error is being reported whenever we try to post an update: HTTP::Message content not bytes at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/HTTP/Request/Common.pm line 90 Here is the code we're using the update our Twitter account: use Net::Twitter; my $twitter = Net::Twitter->new( traits => [qw/API::REST/], username => $username, password => $password, source => 'twitterfeed' ); my $result = $twitter->update($status); I have no idea what the issue is and was hoping that someone else has run into this issue and can provide a quick solution.   • Wordpress installed in root folder, subdomain now not working, GoDaddy host

    Hi, please forgive me for being a complete beginner at this, I'd rather not have to try to deal with this myself but as GoDaddy support have not replied after 2 days I'm going to have to. I think my problem is the same as the one above, but I'm not 100% sure, so I'm reposting it, I'm not really confident enough to attempt to try the fixes I've seen here so I need someone to give me baby instructions? Our original website (www.mwpics.com.au) was built in Dreamweaver etc, recently we created a new website in Wordpress, in a subdomain, then migrated it over to the root folder where it is now operating fine. I also moved the files for the old website into another directory which I called 'old', so they're all still there. The problem is that I have a subdomain set up - which is still showing as set up in the control panel on godaddy the url is www.mwpics.com.au/clients and it is at www.clients.mwpics.com.au. This directory contains loads of other directories, each of which is password protected by .htaccess files and which our clients access directly (not through the site) to download their finished work. The test one and the one for random clients is www.mwpics.com.au/clients/temp - username and password both temp (the usernames are all the same as the directory names). Since the WP install to the root directory the /clients extension no longer works (it should bring up an information page which is an .html index page in the directory) and the /clients/name extensions no longer works - it goes back to the wp site with a 'not found' error message. Strangely it does bring up the box for the username and password, but when you enter it it just goes back to the 'not found' message. Someone told me it was the .htaccess file - so as an experiment, I renamed the .htaccess file in the root directory and then copied the .htaccess file from the old root files into the root directory, eureka! It worked - and also the WP site opened to the home page... but bummer - the /pages in the WP site now no longer worked! But at least I know the source of the problem. So I switched it back and this is the status quo - I have no idea how to fix this, and with everyone back at work tomorrow, clients are going to want to start downloading their stuff... Can anyone help me? I'm starting to panic a bit

    hi, i have a form with 2 fields username: password: and a submit button. the user will enter his username and password for a remote website(not my website or my domain. eg. Gmail.com). i want once he click the submit button.a jQuery script check these login info on gmail.com and return back the result.they are wrong or working logins. and notify the user if it is wrong logins but if it is good working login info the form will submit. i don't know much jQuery but i am good with php. my search find that in order to do that i need to make cross-domain scripting by using php proxy between my jQuery script and the remote domain. i found also the simple php proxy. which looks great.but i dont know how to make the jQuery thing that connects all this together.

    Good afternoon, I'm sorry that this isn't a programming question specifically, but stackoverflow has been great at answering questions in the past, so I thought I'd give it a shot. One of our Linux users attempted to install Cygwin on our Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller. Now it is no longer possible to browse the domain and see all of the computers. For example, \\my_domain_name will just bring up a username/password dialog box (that will not accept any username or password, even the domain administrator) and no computers will ever be listed. However, I can still connect to computers based on their name or IP address. So \\eridanus or \\192.168.1.85 still work to connect to the shared directories of computers on our network. Does anyone know where I can find these settings? and how I can fix this problem? Thanks, Giawa

Both web applications provide a REST web service. the access to both web-services is secured via glassfish security constraints (at the moment BASIC Auth and file-realm). Let's say a user is accessing the service of web application A. After he is authorized, service A wants to call service B via REST client. Is there a way for a service to impersonate a user that is already authorized to the glasfish server? Maybe something like forwarding the security context or editing the headers?     Hello, on my web site I want to have login/registration form in modal window done using facebox (jQuery plugin). What is better: Create view with one method and template that has form and refer facebox to this view. Create static HTML file in public directory and refer facebox to this static page. What I want to achieve is: Easy verification (like "user name already taken", "password confirmation doesn't match password" and stuff like that). Easy submit and redirect I'm new to Rails, I just know about forms verification in Django, so for Django I would probably choose option 1, but it might be another thing in Ruby.

    Pretty basic question, however, I am very new to jQuery and javascript in general. What I am trying to do is require a textbox based on if another text box has any text in it, for instance require the old password if a user enters a new password into a textbox. Is there an easy way to get the required: "#NewPassword:NotBlank" to work?

    I am trying to do a simple form validation in perl dancer but I was wondering what would be the best way to validate simple parameters (e.g. field cannot be empty, validity of the email, minimum length of a field) in dancer/perl without any extra plugin or CPAN module here is the code so far post '/register' => sub { my $db = connect_db(); my $sql = 'insert into users (username, email, password, motivation) values (?, ?, ? ,?)'; my $sth = $db->prepare($sql) or die $db->errstr; $sth->execute(params->{'username'}, params->{'email'},params->{'password'}, params->{'motivation'}) or die $sth->errstr; set_flash('Hey you signed up !'); redirect '/thanks'; }; I did google it and I found several ways to do validation using CPAN modules like Form::Foo but how do it without that ?
