• Organizing source code in TFS 2010

  We have just gotten TFS 2010 up and running. We will be migrating our source into TFS but I have a question on how to organize the code. TFS 2010 has a new concept of project collections so I have decided that different groups within our organization. My team develops many different web applications and we have several shared components. We also use a few third party components (such as telerik). Clearly each web application is it's own project but where do I put the shard components? Should each component be in it's own project with separate builds and work items? Is there a best practice or recommended way to do this specific to TFS 2010?

• Disable eclipselink caching and query caching - not working?

  I am using eclipselink JPA with a database which is also being updated externally to my application. For that reason there are tables I want to query every few seconds. I can't get this to work even when I try to disable the cache and query cache. For example: EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("default"); EntityManager em = entityManagerFactory.createEntityManager(); MyLocation one = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); Thread.sleep(10000); MyLocation two = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); System.out.println(one.getCapacity() + " - " + two.getCapacity()); Even though the capacity changes while my application is sleeping the println always prints the same value for one and two. I have added the following to the persistence.xml <property name="eclipselink.cache.shared.default" value="false"/> <property name="eclipselink.query-results-cache" value="false"/> I must be missing something but am running out of ideas.   I am trying to determine how suicidal this is... I have a hosting environment where a custom ASP.Net CMS application needs to access the files in the root folder of a website even though it is in a virtual folder so it can be shared accross many sites. I can modify the Medium trust on the server and came up with this... <IPermission class="FileIOPermission" version="1" Read="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Write="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Append="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." PathDiscovery="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.."/> Oddly enough, it works. Yes, I understand it is doing this for all the Apps. • XML-RPC with PHP and GoDaddy? Confusion sets in.

  Hey folks, I am attempting to work with XML-RPC via PHP on a GoDaddy server. This same server is hosting a Wordpress Blog that makes use of XML-RPC and is functioning, though that may be unrelated... Whenever I attempt to use any functions that are integrated into PHP for use with XML-RPC, I get an error (function list here: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.xmlrpc.php) e.g.: Fatal error: Class 'xmlrpc_client' not found Is this because XML-RPC's PHP functions are not enabled on my server? If so, how do I go about enabling those - it would seem I would have to install the XML-RPC library to do so and of course I cannot do that on a shared server. Doesn't Wordpress use the same batch of XML-RPC functions though (it works fine)? I think I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself. I have zero experience with XML-RPC.

  I want to cluster texts for a news website. At the moment I use this algorithm to find the related articles. But I found out that PHP's similar_text() gives very good results, too. What sort of algorithms do "the big ones", Google News, Topix, Techmeme, Wikio, Megite etc., use? Of course, you don't know exactly how the algorithms work. It's secret. But maybe someone knows approximately the way they work? The algorithm I use at the moment is very slow. It only compares two articles. So for having the relations between 5,000 articles you need about 12,500,000 comparisons. This is quite a lot. Are there alternatives to reduce the number of necessary comparisons? [I don't look for improvements for my algorithm.] What do "the big ones" do? I'm sure they don't always compare one article to another and this 12,500,000 times for 5,000 news. It would be great if somebody can say something about this topic.

• Google index vs asp.net url routing

  I've made the change from querystring asp.net webforms application to an url routing one. Now I'm trying to let google know that there's a new set of urls to be aware of. The G has indexed 133 out of 179 new urls sent in sitemap.xml, but the site:mistral.hr command returns the old querystring version of the links. This could partly be so because I left the functionality of the old querystring version of the site(for backwards compatibility), and haven't done any 301 redirects(nor do I know how to achieve them in my shared hosting account). The old querystring and the new url routing both point to the same Default.aspx page.

• Randomly getting a 500 error on my website

  I am randomly getting a 500 error on my websites, all of which are hosted on a shared server. It won't happen all the time, just randomly when I will refresh the page I will get a 500 error. It usually will come back after I refresh a few times. I've been reading about it and have heard that .htaccess files can cause this... I did recently start using an .htaccess file to tell my server to start using php 5. I got the code straight from the hosting company that I am with. This is what is in the .htaccess file: AddType x-mapp-php5 .php If anyone has any ideas as to what would be causing this, that would really help. Thanks!

• Why is my Tomcat 6 executor thread pool not being used by the connector?

Is the manager just misreporting or have I not setup the thread pool correctly?

  Hi, I recently deploy an application that uses asp.net membership (SqlMembershipProvider) and I dont know why but it automatically log out after 1 minute of inactivity. This doesn´t happen on my development environment. I even set the userIsOnlineTimeWindow to 60 which is supposed to be in minutes. Any ideas why this is happening? Im deploying to a virtual directory on a shared hosting environment.   Curious how one would go about calling a class method from inside an instance method of a module which is included by an active record class. It works perfect when people logged it is its administrator or developer and it's not when isn casual user without any special role. We tried to submit our read.article action, but it was denied with that: The built-in read.article you submitted doesn't meet our requirements (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/actions/builtin/#read). Please make sure your users can remove articles they shared "within" your app on each page an article appears. Once you have made the appropriate changes please delete this action, create a new one, and submit it. As for that, our plugin users have the ability to delete their activity but Facebook doesn't allow us to make this plugin public. What should we do to make it work? Thanks a lot for your help!

• Apache mod rewrite rules to Zeus rewrite rules

  Hi, This morning I wanted to move my development website online (in a protected folder), but I figured out that our host (on a shared server) does not use apache mod_rewrite but Zeus rules. I've never heard about that before but it seems that apache rules could be automatically converted via a command line, but as you can guess I have no such access on the server. So, do you know any online coverter from Apache rules to Zeus ones? (I tried google but found nothing). Or could someone translate these simple rules with his server: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . index.php [L] It should normaly be something like: match URL into $ with ^[^\/]*\.html$ if matched then set URL = index.php endif But it just doesn't do anything, just the annoying 404 error page.   This won't be a question, but a solution to an infuriating problem on Ubuntu 10.04. If you tried to deploy an LDAP server using this distro following the tutorials below, you'll be on serious trouble. Tutorials: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/serverguide/C/samba-ldap.html The error first appear, on the line: "ldapsearch -xLLL -b cn=config -D cn=admin,cn=config -W olcDatabase=hdb olcAccess" It simply won't allow admin to access the "cn=config", thus you won't be able to deploy the LDAP server correctly. After almost a week searching for a solution, I've found this page: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/+bug/333733 On comment #5, the solution is presented. • Paperclip and Amazon S3 Issue

  Hey everyone, I have a rails app running on Heroku. I am using paperclip for some simple image uploads for user avatars and some other things, I have S3 set as my backend and everything seems to be working fine except when trying to push to S3 I get the following error: The AWS Access Key Id you provided does not exist in our records. Thinking I mis-pasted my access key and secret key, I tried again, still no luck. Thinking maybe it was just a buggy key I deactivated it and generated a new one. Still no luck. Now for both keys I have used the S3 browser app on OS X and have been able to connect to each and view my current buckets and add/delete buckets. Is there something I should be looking out for? I've tried to export the server using the "import" feature of the server in RAD 7. None of these options create a .car file with the resources sticking around. Does anyone know how to do this?   Recently Google announced that they are supporting OAUth for Gmail IMAP/SMTP. I browsed through their multiple documentations, but still I am confused about if they support OAuth for installed applications. 1. In this documentation they say: Note: Though the OAuth protocol supports the desktop/installed application use case, Google only supports OAuth for web applications. But they also have a document for OAuth for installed applications. 2. When I read the OAuth specification pointed by them, it says (in section 11.7): In many applications, the Consumer application will be under the control of potentially untrusted parties. For example, if the Consumer is a freely available desktop application, an attacker may be able to download a copy for analysis. In such cases, attackers will be able to recover the Consumer Secret used to authenticate the Consumer to the Service Provider. Also I think the disclaimer in point 1 above is about Google Data APIs, and surely IMAP/SMTP is not a part of them. I understand that for installed applications I can have a setup like: Have a small web-app at say example.com for my application. This web-app talks to Google gets the access token. The installed application talks to example.com only to get the access token. Installed application then talks to Google with the access token. I am now confused. Is this the only way?

  How do you prevent a new event handling to start when an event handling is already running? I press a button1 and event handler start e.g. slow printing job. There are several controls in form buttons, edits, combos and I want that a new event allowed only after running handler is finnished. I have used fRunning variable to lock handler in shared event handler. • CUDA: accumulate data into a large histogram of floats

  I'm trying to think of a way to implement the following algorithm using CUDA: Working on a large volume of voxels, for each voxel I calculate an index i and a value c. after the calculation I need to perform histogram[i] += c c is a float value and the histogram can have up to 15,000 bins. I'm looking for a way to implement this efficiently using CUDA. The first obvious problem is that with compute capabilities 1.3 which is what I'm using I can't even do an atomicAdd() of floats so how can I accumulate anything reliably? This example by nVidia does something somewhat simpler. The histograms are saved in the shared memory (which I can't do due to its size) and it only accumulates integers. Can this approach be generalized to my case?

• Facebooker Causing Problems with Rails Integration Testing

  I am (finally) attempting to write some integration tests for my application (because every deploy is getting scarier). When the test runs, I am getting the error: The error occurred while evaluating nil.set_facebook_session. I believe that error is to be expected in a certain sense since I am not using Facebook here for this session. Can anyone provide any insight as to how to either get around this or at least help me out with what is going wrong?

  hey guys, want to create a mapped binary file into memory, however I not sure how to create the file to mapped into the system. I read documentation several times and realize there is 2 mapped file, one in iostream and the other in interprocess. Do you guys have any idea on how to create a mapped file into shared memory. I trying to allow multi thread program to read an array of large double written in a binary file format. Also what is the different between the mapped file in iostream and interprocess?

The site has to be in a classic mode application pool because the Report Viewer controls crash when running in Integrated Mode.
