I can find information about this on the Internet but need specific info about how to work with Integrated Pipeline mode (presumably through web.config?) to allow HTTP headers to be manipulated. • iPhone: NSOperationQueue running operations serially

  I have a singleton NSOperationQueue that handles all of my network requests. I'm noticing, however, that when I have one particularly long operation running (this particular operation takes at least 25 seconds), my other operations don't run until it completes. maxConcurrentOperationCount is set to NSOperationQueueDefaultMaxConcurrentOperationCount, so I don't believe that's the issue. Any reason why this would be happening? Besides spawning multiple NSOperationQueues (a solution that I'm not sure would work, nor am I sure it's a good idea), what's the best way to fix this problem? Thanks.

  I am getting the following error on my page: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. The problem is with the following code SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587); What's weird is that when testing it at my localhost, everything works fine, but when I put it on my 1and1 web host it generates the error above. I contacted their support and here's their answer. We do check the error logs and the operation require a FullTrust environment which currently fall under restriction on .NET Framewor k What should I do?

  The idea is to allow to peer processes to exchange messages (packets) over tcp as much asynchronously as possible. The way I'd like it to work is each process to have an outbox and an inbox. The send operation is just a push on the outbox. The receive operation is just a pop on the inbox. Underlying protocol would take care of the communication details. Is there a way to implement such mechanism using a single TCP connection? How would that be implemented using BSD sockets and modern OO Socket APIs (like Java or C# socket API)?

  When a TabWidget is using intents to designate the target Activity for each tab, is there any special handling of those Activities on the Activity Stack outside of the default operation? For Instance, if my app has tabs A, B, and C, and I click them in this order––A, B, A, C, A, B––how will the Activity stack change? My understanding of the default operation, if startActivity() is called each time on the intent, would have the Stack keep loading up new instances of the activities: A, AB, ABA, ABAC, ABACA, ABACAB It's hard to believe that's how it works though... Seems like it would be a waste of resources and could be endless. Can anyone tell me how this will actually work?

• Workflow foundation 4.0 message correlation and error reporting

  I have a workflow service that runs and performs a number of different operations (such as web service calls). If one of these operations fails I call an error reporting web service to notify a seperate system that one of my workflow operations has failed. As the error could be something like the web service being down, I loop and retry this operation until it works. There can be times though when the data I'm passing to this web service is faulty and it needs changing. So I need to be able to hook into this running (but delayed) workflow and change local workflow variables and then re-run the operation. I've looked at message correlation in workflow 4.0 to achieve this but because the delay activity is active in my running workflow instance, any second service call doesn't do anything (it's like the delay activity is blocking any other requests). I've tried setting 'CanCreateInstance' to both true and false but it doesn't help. Thanks!

This does not mean run then in the ThreadPool which will just block threads while operation is being executed. The correct way is to use asynchronous API (BeginRead, BeginGetResponse, BeginExecuteReader etc). The problem is well described in CLR vi C# book.   We've got a web-based application. There is a time-bound database operation (INSERTs and UPDATEs) in the application which takes more time to complete, hence this particular flow has been changed into Java Thread so it will not wait (block) for the complete database operation to be completed. My problem is, if more than 1 user come across this particular flow, I'm facing the following error thrown by PostgreSQL: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: deadlock detected Detail: Process 13560 waits for ShareLock on transaction 3147316424; blocked by process 13566. Process 13566 waits for ShareLock on transaction 3147316408; blocked by process 13560. Above error is consistently thrown in INSERT statements. Additional Information: 1) I have PRIMARY KEY defined in this table. 2) There are FOREIGN KEY references in this table. 3) Separate database connection is passed to each Java Thread.   Hello, I have a WCF Service (called "myservice.svc") that takes a message from a user and saves it to the database. It returns a response to the user in the form of a number. This operation looks like this: [OperationContract] [WebGet] public string SubmitMessage(string message) { try { // SAVE TO DATABASE return "1"; } catch (Exception ex) { return "0"; } } I want to call this operation from some JQuery. I'm using the approach shown here: $.getJSON( "/services/myService.svc", {message:"some text"}, function (data) { alert("success"); } ); Oddly, the "success" alert is never displayed. In addition, I have set a breakpoint in my WCF service and it is never being tripped. What am I doing wrong? Thank you

  Hello All, I am working on Image Viewer application and planning to build in WPF. My Image size are usually larger than 3000x3500. After searching for week, I got sample code from MSDN. But it is written in ATL COM. So I am planning to work and build the Image viewer as follows: After reading the Image I will scale down to my viewer size, viwer is around 1000x1000. Lets call this Image Data as Display Data. Once displaying this data, I will work only this Display data. For all Image processing operation, I will use this display data and when user choose to save the image, I will apply all the operation to original Image data. My question is, Is is ok to use Display data for showing and initial image processing operations.

  I asked a question yesterday which got answers but didnt answer the main point. I wanted to reduce amount of time it took to do a MINUS operation. Now, I'm thinking about doing MINUS operation in blocks of 5000, appending each iterations results to the cursor and finally returning the cursor. • Why would a WebService return nulls when the actual service returns data?

  I have a webservice (out of my control) that I have to talk to. I also have a packet-sniffer on the line, and (SURPRISE!!!) the developers of the webservice aren't lying. They are actually sending back all of the data that I requested. But the web-service code that is auto-generated from the WSDL file is giving me "null" as a value. I used their WSDL file to generate my Web Reference. I checked my data types with the datatypes that the WSDL file has declared.   I am securing a .net web service (framework 2.0) with WSE3 mutualCertificate10Security Assertion. When request are valid all is fine and the response is wellformed, but when the request is invalid (cause a invalid signature, failed check, or soapexception thrown), the web server isn't able to process the response to send to the client. The error in application event log is: An error occured processing an outgoing fault response. Details of the error causing the processing failure: System.InvalidOperationException: Send security filter on the server could not retrieve the operation protection requirements from the operation state. en Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.SecureConversationServiceSendSecurityFilter.SecureMessage(SoapEnvelope envelope, Security security) en Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.SendSecurityFilter.ProcessMessage(SoapEnvelope envelope) en Microsoft.Web.Services3.Pipeline.ProcessOutputMessage(SoapEnvelope envelope) en Microsoft.Web.Services3.WseProtocol.GetFilteredResponseEnvelope(SoapEnvelope outputEnvelope) All certificate permissions are OK (when request is OK the web service is able to sign the response). But it is written in ATL COM. So I am planning to work and build the Image viewer as follows: After reading the Image I will scale down to my viewer size, viwer is around 1000x1000. Lets call this Image Data as Display Data. Once displaying this data, I will work only this Display data. For all Image processing operation, I will use this display data and when user choose to save the image, I will apply all the operation to original Image data. My question is, Is is ok to use Display data for showing and initial image processing operations.

• How to properly use CoreData validation & error framework ?

  I've created a model in Xcode, and for various attributes I have minimum & maximum values defined and that are enforced by coreData at runtime. I'm using NSManagedObject validateValue:forKey:error to check for user input values. I was a bit disappointed to see that the localized error message is not specific, and I get a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1620)" for too small values and a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1610)" for too large values. It's written in the coreData documentation that "you can localize most aspects of a managed object model, including entity and property names and error messages". Unfortunately it's not very detailed on how you implement it for error messages. So How do you customize error message ? How do you localize them ? Is it possible to customize it in a way where it will mentioned the reference value ex: "Value should be lower than %@" or "Value should be higher than %@" ?

• Batch update records in Grails

  I have to calculate a "total" for each user based on individual actions -- that is, a User hasMany Actions and each Action has a point. So I need to basically get a sum of all the points on all the actions. Actions are added and subtracted regularly. Since this can be a rather heavy operation, it's not feasible that I execute the "total" each time I need it. Therefore, I am thinking of running the operation once a day for each user and storing the total points on the User as an int. Because I have thousands of users, I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. Should I basically iterate through all the users and call User.save() each time, or is there some kind of batch update mechanism I can use in Grails / GORM?
