• Google Translate set default language

  Maybe this has an obvious solution that I'm overlooking, but I can't seem to find the correct parameter to put in to make this happen. Using the Google Translate widget on a site, I need to set the default language that the user sees when entering the site, even though the site is english. function googleTranslateElementInit() { new google.translate.TranslateElement({ pageLanguage: 'en' }, 'google_translate_element'); } I've tried adding: defaultLanguage: 'fr' and tried: targetLanguage: 'fr' I did find some nice jQuery solutions, but didn't want to bypass this if it was an easy fix.   My initial question was here and was related to the postgres backend. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2408965/postgres-subquery-ordering-by-subquery Now my problem has moved onwards to the Django ORM layer. I essentially want to order a query by a postgres function ('idx', taken from the above stackoverflow work) I've gone through trying to use model.objects.extra(order_by ) or simply order_by but I believe both of these need the order_by parameter to be an attribute or a field known to Django. I'm trying to think how to solve this without having to revert to using an entirely raw SQL query through a model manager.

• Java data structure to use with Hibernate to store unknown number of parameters?

  Following problem: I want to render a news stream of short messages based on localized texts. In various places of these messages I have to insert parameters to "customize" them. I guess you know what I mean ;) My question probably falls into the "Which is the best style to do it?" category: How would you store these parameters (they may be Strings and Numbers that need to be formatted according to Locale) in the database? I'm using Hibernate to do the ORM and I can think of the following solutions: build a combined String and save it as such (ugly and hard to maintain I think) do some kind of fancy normalization and and make every parameter a single row on the database (clean I guess, but a performance nightmare) Put the params into an Array, Map or other Java data structure and save it in binary format (probably causes a lot of overhead size-wise) I tend towards option #3 but I'm afraid that it might be to costly in terms of size in the database. What do you think?

  Hello, I writing an application using Oracle 10g. I am currently facing this problem. I take in "filename" as parameter of type varchar2. A sample value that filename may contain is: 'TEST || to_char(sysdate, 'DDD')'. In the procedure, I want to get the value of this file name as in TEST147. When i write: select filename into ffilename from dual; I get the value ffilename = TEST || to_char(sysdate, 'DDD') whick makes sense. But how can I get around this issue and invoke the function in the string value? Help appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi, I am using MS Access as a database and using c#, .net for updating some records in it. But it is giving error saying "No value given for one or more required parameters." There are 5 colums in Table and I want to update only 2, for that I have written the query like "update User_DTL set user_role_id = '" + _UserRole + "', auth_id ='" + _authId + "'" + " WHERE Id = '" + _Id + "' "; where _UserRole, _authId, _Id are strings. What may be the error. Do I need to give every parameter in update statement or there is some other way. Thanks

I wrote an post method with no parameters and it does go into that method

  Can anyone recommend a .Net XML Serialization library (ideally open source). I am looking for a robust XML serialization library that I can throw any object at, which will produce a human readable XML representation of the public properties for logging purposes. I never need to be able to deserialize. XmlSerializer's requirement of an object having a parameter constructor is too restrictive for what I want. DataContractSerializer does not give enough control over the output (which is not particularly human-readable). Any recommendations appreciated! Thanks

I suspect it should be ok, as the 'this' pointer is an implicit parameter rather than anything stored, but are there any other hidden nasties I should be aware of?

• How to handle null {id} on route?

  What if a user hits my site with http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit rather than http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit/1000 In other words, they do not specify a value for {id}. If they do not, I want to display a nice "Not Found" page, since they did not give an ID. I currentl handle this by accepting a nullable int as the parameter in the Controller Action and it works fine. However, I'm curious if there a more standard MVC framework way of handling this, rather than the code I presently use (see below). Is a smoother way to handle this, or is this pretty mush the right way to do it?   I wrote the exact query I need in Mongo console, but I'm having trouble rewriting it in C# driver. Here's a sample of the document, it's simple dictionary: { "_id" : ObjectId("539716bc101c588f941e2c27"), "_t" : "DictionaryDocument", "CsvSeparator" : ",", "SelectedAccounts" : "0", ... } Here's the query: db.settings.find({"SelectedAccounts" :{$exists:true}},{"SelectedAccounts":1, "_id":0} ) Now, I got the first part, Find with exists working, but how to write the second parameter in C# driver? I'd just like a single string as a result, not entire document. Here's C# code I got so far: _collection.FindOneAs(typeof(DictionaryDocument), Query.Exists(key)); key in this case is "SelectedAccounts". I'd like the query to filter and return only the data I need, I don't want to return all the results and search on the C# side. EDIT: I wouldn't mind if _id was passed back, but I don't need it. • Linux reboot() system call: why it calls do_exit(0) after kernel_halt()?

  This is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/a/13413099/1284631 Now, the question is: Why the reboot() system call, when called with LINUX_REBOOT_CMD_HALT parameter (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/kernel/sys.c#L480) is calling do_exit(0) after having already called kernel_halt(), as calling kernel_halt() boils down to calling stop_this_cpu() (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/arch/x86/kernel/process.c#L519), as part of native_machine_halt() (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/arch/x86/kernel/reboot.c#L680). Or, it seems to me that stop_this_cpu() is never returning (it ends with an infinite loop). So, it is do_exit(0) called just in case that kernel_halt() doesn't do its job and it return? Why not panic() directly instead, then?

I couldn’t figure out how to bind to a table at all. I have built the inline sql that would do this for me but it would destroy my shared pool (not using binds). So a General question how do I bind to complex/composite types using Nhibernate?

  Hello everyone, PROBLEM: I have a program dummy.exe on windows. this program will bind to UDP port 5060, after started. but another program also want to bind port 5060. WHAT I HAVE DONE: using windbg to start dummy.exe, and set breakpoint on ws2_32!bind when the breakpoint hit, i changed the parameter (port value) with command ew this dummy.exe will bind to the new port, and worked well. QUESTION: How can i do that easily? write a simple windows debugger? Maybe i can hacking or modify the dummy.exe file, but how to do that? what's your way to achieve this? thanks

  I am working through a book about Javascript and have encountered the following example of code designed to replace the value of the class attribute of a table header HTML element: th.className = th.className.replace(/asc/,"dsc"); th.className = th.className.replace(/dsc/,"asc"); Why is the first parameter of .replace, the current value of th.className, enclosed in forward slashes instead of quotation marks? Why not use quotation marks to enclose both parameters, not just the second one? Thank you in advance for any help given.   I know about the GetLastInputInfo method but that would only give me the duration since last user input - keyboard or mouse. If a user input was last received 10 minutes ago, that wouldn't mean the system has been idle for 10 minutes - scans, downloads, movies - lots of reasons. So how can we identify whether the system is truly idle or not? Does anyone know what Window's definition of "idle" is? Must be a combination of thresholds - like less than 5% cpu util, less than 3% disk util etc. - along with the user input parameter...anyone knows the exact definition?

  Hi there! I'm trying to determine a subset of nodes stored in the variable objs by using a user defined function cube:is_active: <xsl:variable name="active_cubes" select="$objs[cube:is_active(XXX) = 'TRUE']"/ Since the function does not allow a local context I'm required to pass it as a parameter (denoted by XXX). However, the usual suspects "." or "current()" do not work since they refer to context node of the surrounding block and NOT to the current element of objs which is evaluated. The only solution so far which DOES work is: XXX=SOME_CHILD_TAG/.. But this is really ugly since it depends on the existence of the child tag for the parent node to work correctly. Is there any other way? Thanks!
