• Why this doesn't work: [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Access denied for user

  So I know that there is a very similar question to this all over the web as well as stack overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2539961/error-access-denied-for-user-mysql-server but my question I think is different. So I have set up a linked server and it works...I have the correct permissions set up for my IP's that I am using. However the problem arises when our user "webuser@correctIP" tries to access it. Therefore, any user using window authentication is allowed to access it and works great...but any that are not using windows authentication are blocked. However, I have tried all the common solutions such as setting up a strict password, changing security settings in Microsoft SQL Server etc. Nothing is working. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. FYI: I am using this from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - mysql (through myphpadmin)

• Can I combine values from multiple rows in another table into multiple columns of one row using SQL?

  I have two tables: T1: | M_ID | P_ID1 | P_ID2 | rest of T1 columns | | 0 | 0 | 1 | ... | | 1 | 2 | 3 | ... | T2: | P_ID | Type | A | B | | 0 | 1 | a | e | | 1 | 2 | b | f | | 2 | 1 | c | g | | 3 | 2 | d | h | Now, I want to have a query that selects this: | M_ID | P_1a | P_1b | P_2a | P_2b | rest of T1 columns | | 0 | a | e | b | f | ... | | 1 | c | g | c | h | ... | So, in words: I want to select all columns from T1, but I want to replace P_ID1 with the columns from T2, where the P_ID is equal to P_ID1, and the type is 1, and basically the same for P_ID2. I can obviously get the information I need with multiple queries, but I was wondering if there is a way that I can do this with one query. Any ideas? I'm currently using SQL Server 2008r2, but I'd also be interested in solutions for other database software. Thanks for the help!

• Embedded web server and gui framework for .NET applications

  Hi, I'm looking for a framework which allows me to manage my application through a webbased GUI (using an embedded webserver) instead of winforms. Something like this: http://www.webtoolkit.eu/wt but then for .NET In my code I should be able to instantiate classes (like buttons, forms etc), and when a user browses to a given port, the app should render it as javascript/ajax etc etc. preferably, when buttons are pushed, a notification in my code should be called. this is a less specific question than another one I posted about extjs. I hope this will attract more viewers since it is more generic Thanks. Update: cassini like solutions don't fit the bill. Since the webbrowser is embedded in my application, there is no need for ASP.NET server side scripts. I would rather have the framework, call functions inside my application when things happen on the page. onButtonClicked() for instance.

• How to Use .NET Assembly from Legacy SQL Server 2000 DTS

  Hi All, I have a .NET assembly that needs to be called from a DTS package. There are two options I am considering to get this to work: 1) write a COM-callable wrapper for the .NET assembly and have the VBScript create the COM object to use 2) write a .NET command-line exe that uses that .NET assembly and have the VBScript execute that exe Can anybody comment on the pros/cons of either approach and which is the better way of doing this? If there are other solutions, I'd love to hear them too. Thanks a lot for any input.

  Hi, Has anyone implemented a holiday workflow approval / tracking list in MOSS Sharepoint 2007? Can anyone suggests other solutions? The solution below works fine but I am specifically looking for a way to lookup manager of the user who created the holiday request list item in the workflow. I have followed this link http://www.u2u.info/Blogs/Kevin/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=39 which shows you how to create a custom workflow approval. Below are the steps outlined by the link. User add new holiday item to list Workflow kicks off Wf has the manager hardcoded (need a way to look this up, maybe from AD??) and creates a Task for them to review the request. • Easiest way of checking if a string consists of unique characters?

  I need to check in Java if a word consists of unique letters (case insensitive). As straight solution is boring, I came up with: For every char in a string check if indexOf(char) == lastIndexOf(char). Add all chars to HashSet and check if set size == string length. Convert a string to a char array, sort it alphabetically, loop through array elements and check if c[i] == c[i+1]. Currently I like #2 the most, seems like the easiest way. Any other interesting solutions?

  I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Server and i have following items in my SharePoint solution Couple of web parts State Machine Work flow (which will be integrated to an Infopath form library) Infopath task edit forms Lets say this solutions is deployed to http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-x]/ This is the only server i have (No extra server for UAT), and what ever has been done so far needs to be given for user acceptance testing (UAT). I may create one more site at http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-y]/ for it. My problme is that how do i maintain two copies of my source code ? I will have to continue development on the same set of source code for next UAT release. I simply can not create simple copies of the source code as it will have same Assembly name and feature id, etc..As if i do so, any changes on under Development source code would affect UAT assemblies. One thing i can do is to create seperate projects for UAT and Development with different Features and Assembly names, but is not that too much of an unneccesory work ? What can be the best approach in such situation ?

• Python: re-initialize a function's default value for subsequent calls to the function.

  I have a function that calls itself to increment and decrement a stack. I need to call it a number of times, and I'd like it to work the same way in subsequent calls but, as expected, it doesn't re-use the default value. I've read that this is a newbie trap and I've seen suggested solutions, but I haven't been able to make any solution work.   From within a Java program, I want to be able to list out the Windows users and groups who have permission to read a given file. Obviously Java has no built-in ability to read the Windows ACL information out, so I'm looking for other solutions. Are there any third party libraries available which can provide direct access to the ACL information for a Windows file? Failing that, maybe running cacls and capturing and then processing the output would be a reasonable temporary solution - Is the output format of cacls thoroughly documented anywhere, and is it likely to change between versions of Windows?

I googled for this solution but, all the solutions mentioned are for generating multiple deps files for multiple objects. • jquery ui modal dialog problems in IE

  I use jquery ui dialog widget. Everything works fine in FF, Opera etc., except IE. The problem is that when dialog is opened in Internet Explorer, some space (not covered with that "modal gray layer") is added at the bottom of the document, and page is scrolled to the bottom. So I don't even see the dialog, I have to scroll up, to see it fully. Anyone had that problems? Any solutions? EDIT: now I see, that this "bottom space" is also added in FireFox, but it doesn't scroll to it like in IE.

  Hi Stack Overflow, I have found a whole lot of different solutions to this problem, but not all of them work, and a lot of them seem somewhat hacky and inefficient. Basically I have a string of hexadecimal data (i.e. "55 AA 41 2A 00 94 55 AA BB BB 00 FF") which I would like to convert to raw data. What is the best way to do this?   This is a design question better explained with a Stack Overflow analogy: Users can earn Badges. Users, Badges and Earned Badges are stored in the database. A Badge’s logic is run by a Badge Condition Strategy. I would prefer not to have to store Badge Condition Strategies in the database, because they are complex tree structure objects. How do I associate a Badge stored in the database with its Badge Condition Strategy? I can only think of workaround solutions. For example: create 1 class per badge and use a SINGLE_TABLE inheritance strategy. Or get the badge from the database, and then programmatically lookup and inject the correct Badge Condition Strategy. Thanks for suggesting a better design.

  I know that PHP doesn't have native Enumerations. But I have become accustomed to them from the Java world. I would love to use enums as a way to give predefined values which IDEs' auto completion features could understand. Constants do the trick, but there's the namespace collision problem and (or actually because) they're global. Arrays don't have the namespace problem, but they're too vague, they can be overwritten at runtime and IDEs rarely (never?) know how to autofill their keys. Are there any solutions/workarounds you commonly use? Does anyone recall whether the PHP guys have had any thoughts or decisions around enums?

• Push or Pull to Excel for reporting data

  I am unsure which is the best way to go here. I have a third party Excel 2003 spreadsheet that needs to be filled in on a monthly basis and emailed. Currently it is a manual process and I am in the process of automating the generation of the spreadsheet. I have been throwing around different ideas of how to get the data into the spreadsheet. I have thought of using SSRS to create a report that is in a similar format and get the user to cut and past. Alternatively writing a VBA addin that retrieves that data from a webservice and then adds the data to the spreadsheet. Or using the third party spreadsheet as a template and open it on the server via oledb and adding the data then serving it as a downloadable file. Which is better or are the better solutions out there?

• Finding an open and closing tag in Regexp

  Is there a way to find custom tags in regexp I.e. match {a}sometext{/a} As well as {c=#fff}sometext{/c} So that it finds the entire block of inner content? The problem is the sometext could have another tag as in: {a=http://www.google.com}{b}Hello, world{/b}{/a} The only solutions I can come up with would match from {a... to .../b} when I want {a... to .../a} is there a single regexp solution, or would it be best to match the start, and then use another method to find the end from the back up, and grab it out that way? I'm using PHP 5.2 so I have all the options that entails.

• Right way to have a thread in parallel to django project on wsgi.

  Hi guys. I'm writing a django project, and I need to have a parallel thread which performs certain tasks. The project will be deployed in Apache2.2 with mod_wsgi. Actually my implementation consists on a thread with a while True - Sleep which is called from my django.wsgi file. Is this implementation correct? Two problems raises: does django.wsgi get called only once? Will I have just that instance of the thread running? And second, I need to "manually" visit at least a page to have the Thread run. Is there a workaround? Does anyone has some hints on better solutions? Thanks in advance.

• Having an online highscore leaderboard for a Flash game

  Why, hello there. I'm trying to develop a simple Flash game using Actionscript 2 (I know its a bit dated, but its a simple project that doesen't benefict much from AS3), and I came up with an ideia of implementing an online leaderboard that records and shows the highscore of the player. This isn't anything too complicated, but I seem to be having problem finding resources online that explain how I should implement this. All I want is a call, probably to a PHP/MySQL database that records the player's name (which will be recorded via a input window) and its current score. It would also have to show the best all time scores, by order. I should remind you that I am working on a Actionscript 2 so Actionscript 3 solutions are probably not going to work. Can anyone out there help me out here? Did any of you already been through this?

• Conditionally execute a task after building a solution with MSBuild + TFS

  Hello, I'm using MSBuild with TFS and I have to build 4 solutions. When the compilation is done I should launch upon to 4 different Exec tasks depending on wherever the compilation was successful or not. I know how to do that with MSBuild alone using targets with conditions using the var $(BuildBreak) because I can do build solution - check result - exec task - build ... but I don't know how to do that with the TFS extensions ... any help will be very appreciated.   The team explorer for my project looks like this: mytfsserver\mycollection -- Project 1 solution -- Project 2 solution -- Project 3 solution When I right click on one of the solutions and do a "Show Project Portal", I see the following hierarchy: mycollection - WSS site Project 1 site with dashboard (appears to be a MOSS site) Project 2 site with dashboard (appears to be a MOSS site) Project 3 site with dashboard (appears to be a MOSS site) Are the dashboard sites MOSS sites? If I want to create a wiki, do I have to create a subsite with the wiki template under each of the Project sites? Can someone point me to a document/video that talks about the sites that area created by TFS by default?

• How do I wait until a console application is idle?

  I have a console application that starts up, hosts a bunch of services (long-running startup), and then waits for clients to call into it. I have integration tests that start this console application and make "client" calls. How do I wait for the console application to complete its startup before making the client calls? I want to avoid doing Thread.Sleep(int) because that's dependent on the startup time (which may change) and I waste time if the startup is faster. Process.WaitForInputIdle works only on applications with a UI (and I confirmed that it does throw an exception in this case). I'm open to awkward solutions like, have the console application write a temp file when it's ready.

  There are a lot of solutions out there on generating a thumbnail or an image preview of a webpage. Some of these are websites like websnapshots, windows libraries such as PHP's imagegrabscreen (only works on windows), and KDE's wkhtml. Many more do exist. However, I'm looking for a GUI-less solution. Something I can create an API around and link it to php or python. I'm comfortable with python, php, C, and shell. This is a personal project, so I'm not interested in commercial applications as I'm aware of their existence. Any ideas?
