• Sun-JRE on CentOS-4.8 RPM error: post-install scriptlet failed, exit status 5

  I have a server with CentOS 4.8 installed. The provided is rubbish, but there's only a few months left, and they're busy being sued by Chase bank, so I doubt I can get CentOS 5. I wiped the server clean using Virtuozzo, and found that the default image is VERY empty. I even had to install yum myself. I've reached the point where I want to install TomCat. I downloaded the Sun JRE as a .rpm.bin file, did chmod a+x and ran it. • .NET remoting exception: Permission denied: cannot call non-public or static methods remotely.

  I'm writing a program which will allow to load a specific managed .DLL file and play with it. Since I want the ability to unload the .DLL file, I'm creating two AppDomains - one for the app itself, the other for the currently loaded .DLL. Since most of the objects in the loaded .DLL do not serialize well, I'm creating a MarshalByRefObject wrapper class which will keep the object itself in its own AppDomain, and expose some reflection functions to the main application AppDomain. However when I try to invoke a method on the remote object I get stuck with an exception: Permission denied: cannot call non-public or static methods remotely. This is very strange, because I'm not using any non-public or static methods at all. As far as I can understand, the InvokeMethod method doesn't even get executed, the exception is thrown when I try to run it. Added: To clarify - SomeInstanceOfRemoteObjectWrapper is constructed in the .DLL's AppDomain and then returned to my main AppDomain, The InvokeMethod<T>() is called from my main AppDomain (and I expect it to execute in the .DLL's AppDomain).

• Building nginx 1.0.4 on Amazon EC2 micro - perl and python problems

  I'd like to run nginx as a reverse proxy with apache2 on my EC2 micro instance. yum install nginx gives me nginx-0.8.53-1.2.amzn1.x86_64.rpm The current nginx is 1.0.4 I found and followed this guide: http://kdn2.info/2011/05/install-nginx-on-amazon-ec2/ It works fine up to and including "make".   Ah, confusion. I'm trying to install a python library called lxml as needed by a python script. I've been through numerous SU quesitons and answers. I haven't been able to make much progress. • 'pip install carbon' looks like it works, but pip disagrees afterward

  I'm trying to use pip to install the package carbon, a package related to statistics collection. When I run pip install carbon, it looks like everything works. However, pip is unconvinced that the package is actually installed. (This ultimately causes trouble because I'm using Puppet, and have a rule to install carbon using pip, and when puppet asks pip "is this package installed?" it says "no" and it reinstalls it again.) How do I figure out what's preventing pip from recognizing the success of this installation?   I get this error when I try to run my app: 2010-04-29 13:49:01.355 MyApp[56123:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[<MyViewController 0x5112b10> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key toolbar.' MyViewController used to have an IBOutlet called 'toolbar' that connected to a UIToolbar object in a nib. I decided I no longer needed the toolbar or the nib so I removed them from the project. But Xcode seems to still want to refer to 'toolbar'. Where might the reference to toolbar be if I no longer use a nib? I can synthesize a dummy 'toolbar' property to appease Xcode, but I want to avoid this kind of ugly hack.

  Hi, I am using SQL Server 2008 and the WebSharingAppDemo-SqlProviderEndToEnd sample and this is almost perfect for my needs however I am unable to detect conflicts. By default ConflictResolutionPolicy is set to ApplicationDefined. I have tried setting the ResolutionPolicy to SourceWins, DestinationWins or ApplicationDefined and I always get the same results? The Destination Provider Proxy (Peer) always wins? Can someone please provide a sample of how I can detect a conflict and act upon it or point me in the right direction where I can start to look. I am not sure what to do and where I can create events for detecting collisions. Been staring at this too long now and going around in circles! Thanks in advanced. Paul

• External XMPP component - Anyone know a Tutorial or Open Source Example please?

  Hi All, I want to run an XMPP server (Openfire) and register an external component to handle the messages it will recieve (using the Whack library). The external component will run my game logic and I will be using XMPP to send player moves to the server and status updates in the other direction. The bonus with XMPP is that we get built in chat for free. The trouble is, although Ignite look fairly established, I can't find a tutorial on how to write, register and debug an External XMPP component written with Whack, there are very few in general for that matter. I am not invested in either the server implementation or the External Component library, java is just my language of choice. If I was to move to Erlang or Scala or something it would have to be a very simple in that language. A single tutorial or example would go a long way here, I just need an basic External XMPP component pretty please! Kind regards, Gavin

• How to link a SQlite Extension Source File into Xcode for iPhone?

  I use a statically linked library for Sqlite in an iPhone Xcode project. I am now trying to include a .C extension to Sqlite in this project. However, I am having trouble making the Sqlite in the build SEE the extension. The statically linked Sqlite library works fine. Also the .C extension works on my desktop, and builds fine as a statically linked library in Xcode. However, the custom functions it defines are missing when called. For example, I load the extension as so with no errors. SELECT load_extension('extension_name.so'); But when I try to call a function defined in the extension, I get this message DB Error: 1 "no such function: custom_function" Does anyone know much about linking a Sqlite extension into an Xcode project?

  I have a MS SQL imported into SQL Server 2008 from a .bak and I set it to Mixed mode. I have a SQL user (called "test") that can correctly access the database using SQL Server. I need to convert this to a MySQL database, so I got the MySQL Migration Toolkit. I pick "MS SQL Server" and then it asks for the hostname/username/password/database. I'm not 100% sure on these, but I used "localhost" (running on same computer), left the port as is (1433) and the username/password ("test") for the SQL Server. • RHEL 5.3 Kickstart - How specify location of individual package in Workstation folder?

  I keep getting "package does not exist" errors during the install. I made a kickstart ISO to create an unattended install of a RHEL 5.3 build machine for C++ software releases. It pulls the kickstart config file from our internal web server. This is handy; it makes it easy to test and modify without having to make a new ISO. And I plan to check it in to version control if I can get it working. Anyway, the rpm packages are located in two folders on the disk; Client and Workstation. The packages install fine for the ones that are physically located under the Client folder. It cannot find those under the Workstation folder such as as doxygen and subversion complaining that packages do not exist.   Hello, I've written a script that intends to retrieve the DatabaseSize of a database from Exchange 2010. I created a new AD user for this script to run under as a scheduled task. I gave this user admin rights to the Exchange Organization (as a last resort during my testing) and local admin rights on the Exchange machine. When I run this script manually by starting powershell (with runas /noprofile /user:domain\user powershell) everything works fine. All the database properties are available. When I run the script as a scheduled task a lot of the properties are null including the one I want: DatabaseSize. I've also tried running the script as the domain admin account with the same results. There must be something different in the two contexts but I can't figure out what it is. • Good Linux Distro for Disconnected Netbook

  I'm deployed to Afghanistan with the Army and I have a friend who's netbook had his hard drive take a dump on him. He ordered a new hard drive and I was able to download and burn a copy of Ubuntu to disk from work. However the default install doesn't support most of the media that he wants to watch (AVI files, probably some DIVX video) without installing extra packages. We don't have internet in the tent and really don't have a vaiable option for downloading additional packages through the package manager anywhere here. The computer is a small HP netbook. All my friend wants is to watch ripped movies. Does anyone know of a good way to do either of the following: Download packages seperately and install them via CD A distro that is going to come preloaded with all of the packages and needed to watch just about any type of video file you can think of? • Can't change pivot table's Access data source - bug in Excel 2000 SP3?

  I have a set of Excel 2000 SP3 worksheets that have Pivot Tables that get data from an Access 2000 SP3 database created by a contractor who left our company. Unfortunately, he did all his work on his private area on the company (Novell) network and now that he has left us, the drive spec has been deleted and is invalid. We were able to get the database files restored to our network area by our IT Service Desk people, but we now have to re-link everything to point to our group area instead of the now-nonexistent private area. If I follow the advice given elsewhere on this site (open wizard, click 'Back' to get to 'Step 2 of 3', click 'Get Data...' I get a message that the old filespec is an invalid path and I need to check that the path name is invalid and that I am connected to the server on which the file resides. I then click on OK and get a Login dialog with a 'Database...' button on the right. I click this and get a 'Select Database' dialog which allows me to choose the appropriate database in its correct new location. I then click OK, which takes me back to the 'Login' screen. I can confirm that it has accepted my new location by clicking on 'Database...' as before and the NEW location is still shown. So far so good - but if I then click on OK I get two unhelpful messages - first I get one saying that Excel 'Could not use '|'; file already in use.' - although no other files are in use. Clicking on OK takes me back to the 'Login' dialog. Clicking OK again gives me the same message as before telling me that the OLD filespec is invalid (as if I hadn't changed anything) - but clicking on the 'Database...' button shows that the correct (NEW) database location is still selected. Can anyone tell me a way of using VBA to change the link information without having to spend hours fighting the PivotTable Wizard - preferably similar to this way you update an Access Tabledef:- db.TableDefs(strLinkName).Connect = strNewLink db.TableDefs(strLinkName).RefreshLink Thanks!

Simple Usage :: ROBOCOPY source destination /MIR source :: Source Directory (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). destination :: Destination Dir (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). /MIR :: Mirror a complete directory tree. • Is the IP from the source or target in this System.Net.Sockets.SocketException?

  I'm making an outbound connection using a DNS name to a server other than the localhost, and I get this exception: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server --- System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:5555 The text implies that the TARGET machine refused the connection, but the IP address and port are from the localhost, which is kind of confusing. So is that IP address really the outgoing IP and port, even though the exception was caused by the target refusing the connection? Or is the exception from the local firewall blocking the outgoing connection?
