  • Supply some basic auth credentials to a WebView?

    Hi, I have a WebView. I'd like to show some page from my server, but I require some basic authentication. Is there a way I can specify basic auth credentials when calling WebView.loadData() somehow? I can do this on iphone with the equivalent webview class, thinking maybe same is possible with android? I disagree with their statement 'Obfustication is good'. What should I do to protect the keys then? Is obfustication good enough, or should I consider something more elaborate?

  • Android: Touch seriously slowing my application

    Hi all, I've been raking my brains on this one for a while. when I'm running my application (opengl game) eveyrthing goes fine but when I touch the screen my application slows down quite seriously (not noticeable on powerful phones like the nexus one, but on the htc magic it gets quite annoying). I did a trace and found out that the touch events seem to be handled in a different thread and even if it doesn't take so much processing time I think androids ability to switch between threads is not so good... What is the best way to handle touch when speed is an issue ? Currently I'm using : in the GLSurfaceView @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { GameHandler.onTouchEvent(event); return true; } Any ideas are welcome

  • Getting started with SQLite (Android)

    Hey Everyone, I have limited SQL background, basically a small amount of manipulation through HTML and mostly with pre-existing databases. What I am trying to do is set up a database that will store time information for bus routes. So basically I have different routes with stops for each route and then a list of times that the bus arrives at each stop. Here is an example of a table of times from their website: Link.   • slow android emulator

    I have a 2.67GHz Celeron Processor, 1.21GBs of RAM on a x86 Windows XP Pro machine. My understanding is that the emulator should start fairly quickly on such a machine, but for me it does not. I have followed all instructions in setting up the IDE, SDKs, JDKs and such and have had some success in staring the emulator quickly but is very particulary. How can I if possible fix this problem. Even if it starts and loads home screen it is very sluggish. Any help would be appreciated guys thanks. I have tried the Eclipse IDE in Galileos, and Ganymede.

  • Hidden links are still clickable on the Android browser

    I've got a contextual menu that appears when a button is clicked. This menu has some links and after some seconds is hidden again. The problem is that after the menu has disappeared the links are still there. They are not shown but are clickable and the green border appears. And after some seconds they disappear. I've tryied many ways of hiding the menu: display: none, visibility: hidden, width: 0, height: 0, jquery hide, jquery fadeout... but none worked. Also hidding the links. Does anyone have a idea about what's happening? With the rest of the browsers it works without problem Thanks

  • CursorLoader, get URI for local database

    I'm a newbie android programmer and I recently followed a tutorial which shows how to create a local SQLite database by using SQLiteDatabase.rawQuery to return a Cursor. I would like to modify my app to use CursorLoader which is apparently a better way to access the database. My problem is the CursorLoader constructor expects a URI to be given. Do I just input "file:///[path to db]"? Seems a bit messy.

  • Android app crashes on second run

    I have been working on my app and it runs on the simulator fine. I loaded it into my phone and now I have a problem. It runs fine when I first start it and also if I pick home and then restart it; however, if I use the back arrow and then restart it it crashes on that time, but will work out the next time I start it. I think it has to do with some kind of memory build up, but I verified onDestroy is being called, I figured that deletes everything my program created, right?

    Hello, I have made an application that records from the phones microphone using the AudioRecord and 16-bit encoding, and I am able to playback the recording.     I have an app in which I need to use ImageButtons.The app has tabs, and when I click on a tab the ImageButton should be calling setBackgroundResource(), and when I click on another tab the imageButton should call setBackgroundColor() instead. The problem is that once the resource has been set (in my case a shape with round corners, a stroke and a transparent background), any use of setBackgroundColor() will just recolor the shape, and not the whole button. Is there a way to reset/clear the resource of an ImageButton?

    I refered this link.I am using the uri for streetview: Uri.parse("google.streetview:cbll=" + sv_lat_val + ","+ sv_long_val + "&cbp=1,45,,45,0.0&mz=0.0") But the zoom level always in Zoomed state. 1.0 is the normal zoom. so i set it for 0.0 . still its not zoomed out. why? But it working in default Google maps App? Any idea?

  • Android service puts multiple instances of an activity in the history

    I'm making a music player. When you press play, it loads a notification into the OnGoing section. When you go anywhere else in the system, I want the music to keep playing. All of this is fine. The problem is that when I relaunch my activity from the Notification, it adds a task to the history stack each time, so if I hit back, I have to see the instance of Activity B from where I pressed play, and from every time I clicked on the notification to go back to Activity B. I want the instance of Activity B that I launch from the notification (via the service) to be the only copy of that Activity in the history. I've been playing around with various Intent flags and Activity attributes in the manifest, but I haven't found the proper combination.
