  • Putting a variable name = value format in Ruby

    - by Calm Storm
Hi, I would like to add some debugs for my simple ruby functions and I wrote a function as below, def debug(&block) varname = block.call.to_s puts "#{varname} = #{eval(varname, block)}" end debug {:x} #prints x = 5 debug {:y} #prints y = 5 I understand that eval is evil. So I have two questions. Is there any way to write that debug method without using eval? If NO is there a preferred way to do this? Is there any way to pass a list of arguments to this method? I would ideally prefer debug {:x, :y. :anynumOfvariables}. I could not quite figure out how to factor that into the debug method (i.e, to take a list of arguments)

  • Get class instance by class name string

    - by VDVLeon
    Hi all, I noticed the function Object.factory(char[] className) in D. But it does not work like I hoped it would work; it does not work ;) An example: import std.stdio; class TestClass { override string toString() { return typeof(this).stringof; // TestClass } }; void main(string[] args) { auto i = Object.factory("TestClass"); if (i is null) { writeln("Class not found"); } else { writeln("Class string: " ~ i); } } I think this should result in the message: "Class string: TestClass" but it says "Class not found". Does anybody know why this happens and how I could fix it ? Or do I need to make my own class factory. For example by make a class with a static array Object[string] classes; with class instances. When I want a new instance I do this: auto i = (className in classes); if (i is null) { return null; } return i.classinfo.create();

  • Receiving 404 error when trying to get to MVC application in local IIS

    - by Corey Sunwold
    I have an existing web site setup on my local IIS built with web forms setup in this format: -MainSite -Application1 -Application2 -Application3 There are separate applications in each location, so MainSite has an application, and Application1 has another application and so on. This way development on different applications in the same site can be broken out. I want to add a new Application that is MVC instead of web forms. I created a new MVC project which runs in Cassini just fine, but when I create a new IIS application for it and point it to the MVC project I am unable to navigate to it in the browser and get a 404 error. I am expecting to be able to navigate to http://MainSite/NewMVCApplication/. I want the root of NewMVCApplication to point to my Contacts Controller. My global.asax in the new MVC application currently looks like this: public class MvcApplication : System.Web.HttpApplication { public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Root", // Route name "", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Contacts", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } protected void Application_Start() { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); RouteDebug.RouteDebugger.RewriteRoutesForTesting(RouteTable.Routes); } }

    - by asksuperuser

  • Windows Multiple User Application Best Practices

    - by Burt
I am developing a WPF application that will hook into a SQLLite database and I have a number of reservations around multiple users: When I install my application should I assume that each windows user account will mean only one user of my application or should I include a login for my app (drawback is that the user will have to log in all the time) If I am supporting multiple users how do I handle a new user account i.e. on application start of the new account should I set up a new user in the DB Are there any other gotchas around this area, it isn't something I have really had to worry about before. Thanks in advance, B

  • Allow Incorrect Package Name in Eclipse

    - by SamBeran
I have some classes in my current project which have the wrong package declaration (they are in the wrong folder for their declared package.) Unfortunately, fixing the problem by moving the class is not an option. Is there a way I can get eclipse to ignore the error?

  • Rails - Dynamic name routes namespace

    - by Kuro
Hi, Using Rails 2.3, I'm trying to configure my routes but I uncounter some difficulties. I would like to have something like : http:// mydomain.com/mycontroller/myaction/myid That should respond with controllers in :front namespace http:// mydomain.com/aname/mycontroller/myaction/mydi That should respond with controllers in :custom namespace I try something like this, but I'm totaly wrong : map.namespace :front, :path_prefix => "" do |f| f.root :controller => :home, :action => :index f.resources :home ... end map.namespace :custom, :path_prefix => "" do |m| m.root :controller => :home, :action => :index m.resources :home ... m.match ':sub_url/site/:controller/:action/:id' m.match ':sub_url/site/:controller/:action/:id' m.match ':sub_url/site/:controller/:action/:id.:format' m.match ':sub_url/site/:controller/:action.:format' end I put matching instruction in custom namespace but I'm not sure it's the right place for it. I think I really don't get the way to customize fields in url matching and I don't know how to find documentation about Rails 2.3, most of my research drove me to Rails 3 doc about the topic... Somebody to help me ?

  • Return the Column Name for row with last non-null value "Ms Access 2007"

    - by bri1969
I have a Table, which contains a list of league players. Each season, we record their Points per Dart. Their total PPD for that season is stored in other tables and extracted through other queries, which in turn are imported to the master table "Player History" at the end of the season for use as historical data. The current query retrieves each players PPD for each season they played, when they played last, and how many seasons played. The code for Last season Played has become too long and unstable to use. it was originally created, and split into two separate columns because a single SQL was to long. (LSP1) and LSP2) which work, but as I add seasons, Access does not like the length of code. In short, i need to find a more simple code that will look at each row, and look in that row for the last non null cell and report which column that last non null value is in. So if a player played seasons 30 & 31, but did not play 32..but did play 33, the Column with the code should be titled Last Season Played, and for that Player, it would state "33" in that cell, indicating that this player last played season "33" I will provide both tables and the query.. Please help

  • Is correct name enough to make it happen?

    - by Knowing me knowing you
Guys, I've just dipped in to limits.h by MS. I tried to check what's the return type for max() fnc and to my surprise I see something like this: // TEMPLATE CLASS numeric_limits template<class _Ty> class numeric_limits : public _Num_base { // numeric limits for arbitrary type _Ty (say little or nothing) public: static _Ty (__CRTDECL min)() _THROW0() { // return minimum value return (_Ty(0)); } static _Ty (__CRTDECL max)() _THROW0() { // return maximum value return (_Ty(0));//EXACTLY THE SAME WHAT IN min<<------------------ } //... other stuff }; so how is it possiple that in both min and max return does exactly the same? So does it mean if I would write makeSanwich() return (_Ty(0)) it would make a sandwich for me? How is it possible that having this same code just fnc names different we are getting different results?

  • Get name of property as a string

    - by Jim C
I'm trying to improve the maintainability of some code involving reflection. The app has a .NET Remoting interface exposing (among other things) a method called Execute for accessing parts of the app not included in its published remote interface. Here is how the app designates properties (a static one in this example) which are meant to be accessible via Execute: RemoteMgr.ExposeProperty("SomeSecret", typeof(SomeClass), "SomeProperty"); So a remote user could call: string response = remoteObject.Execute("SomeSecret"); and the app would use reflection to find SomeClass.SomeProperty and return its value as a string. Unfortunately, if someone renames SomeProperty and forgets to change the 3rd parm of ExposeProperty(), it breaks this mechanism. I need to the equivalent of: SomeClass.SomeProperty.GetTheNameOfThisPropertyAsAString() to use as the 3rd parm in ExposeProperty so refactoring tools would take care of renames. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. E:\Users\Sarin\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\WebAssist\blog\web.config 61 I added the webiste as a Virtual Directory and also converted that to application. • partially connected application using asp.net 3.5 (not mobile apps)

    - by Hari
We had a requirement to build a ASP.NET 3.5 web application using web forms, WCF, ADO.NET and SQL Server. The users would connect via Internet. Recently we understood that it is possible that users would often remain disconnected and would have Internet access intermittently. I need to understand if we can create occasionally connected web application using asp.net 3.5 - what all technologies/features we need to use? Is MS Sync Framework the answer to the problem - is it a viable option to use with web application? Is windows application the right approach instead of web applications - where the business logic would be run at the client itself, using local SQL Express editions with data then been synced up with Enterprise SQL server at server end when connection is established using replication and/or MS Sync framework. In that case is there a need to use WCF? Does Silverlight applications help in this context -building paritally connected web apps? Really appreciate if you can give pointers to how to go about this task of creating .net partially connected apps (not mobile apps)?

  • What's the formal name for this Syntax?

    - by rlb.usa
Sometimes in Scheme, I have functions that take arguments like this add 3 4 What do you call this kind of "list" where it's elements are like a1 a2 a3 ? I don't think you can call it a list because lists are contained in parenthesis and elements are comma-seperated.

  • Regex to remove all but file name from links

    - by Moasely
Hi, I am trying to write a regexp that removes file paths from links and images. href="path/path/file" to href="file" href="/file" to href="file" src="/path/file" to src="file" and so on... I thought that I had it working, but it messes up if there are two paths in the string it is working on. I think my expression is too greedy. It finds the very last file in the entire string. This is my code that shows the expression messing up on the test input: <script type="text/javascript" src="/javascripts/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var s = '<a href="one/keepthis"><img src="/one/two/keep.this"></a>'; var t = s.replace(/(src|href)=("|').*\/(.*)\2/gi,"$1=$2$3$2"); alert(t); }); </script> It gives the output: <a href="keep.this"></a> The correct output should be: <a href="keepthis"><img src="keep.this"></a> Thanks for any tips!

  • How to track down a Blue Screen of Death triggered by an (usermode) application

    - by mhenry1384
We have a .Net application consisting of mixed managed and unmanaged code. We have a number of reports of users getting BSOD while using our application. These blue screens happen on different versions of Windows. Mostly XP but one user claims it happens on Windows 7. Some users see it happening when doing one thing, other see it happening when doing something completely different. Of course, we cannot reproduce the problem. Needless to say, I'm stumped. A user mode application shouldn't be able to blue screen the OS so we are running into a bug in a common kernel space application, perhaps buggy antivirus software? Does anyone have any tips on how to track something like this down? We don't have access to a computer where this is happening so we wouldn't be able to hook up a kernel debugger or anything like that.

Within that UserControl i have a border. I want to know, if i dont specify any set value or binding for the property BorderBrush of that border, will it automatically inherit the value of BorderBrush from the parent control? Thanks!

  • Knowing the user name in a Page

    - by ctacke
Let's assume the following: I have an IIS web site set up IIS is configured to use Digest authentication I'm running an ASP.NET page The page has a code-behing assembly that overrides Page_Load When a user navigates to that page, I get a security prompt for the username and password. If the username and password are invalid (i.e. incorrect password) is there a way for the called page, in Page_Load to know, or does IIS handle this and return the 401 before the ASP.NET engine ever gets around to resolving the actual Page class that will get executed?
