  • Route alias, is it possible?

    - by benoror
    I have a Vehicle model: map.resources :vehicles, :has_many => :suppliers Everything works great, but Vehicle has a boolean attribute is_truck. I want to make an Alias so I can get the same resources but with the "truck" word, I tried with: map.trucks '/trucks', :controller => :vehicles, :action => :index, :is_truck => true map.trucks '/trucks/by_supplier/:supplier', :controller => :vehicles, :action => :index, :is_truck => true The first one works well, but when I search within a Form the second doesn't work and searches all suppliers. Is it possible to map.resources for an alias ?

  • Equality Comparison with Multiple Instances/IEqualityComparer problems in LINQ

    - by Stacey
    This is similar to my last question; but from a different angle. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2792393/see-if-item-exists-once-in-enumerable-linq Given the following set of items, and lists containing them... Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 4 Item 5 class Item { string Name { get; set; } } List<Item> available = new List<Item>() { Item 1 Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 5 } List<Item> selected = new List<Item>() { Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 } I need to make a third List that has everything from "available", except what is in "selected". However 'Item 1' is in 'available' twice, but only in 'selected' once. Since they are instances of the same item, I am having trouble figuring out the appropriate logic to accomodate this. The final array should look like... List<Item> selectable = new List<Item>() { Item 1 Item5 }

  • LINQ to SQL Web Application Best Practices

    - by derek
    In my experience building web applications, I've always used a n-tier approach. A DAL that gets data from the db and populates the objects, and BLL that gets objects from the DAL and performs any business logic required on them, and the website that gets it's display data from the BLL. I've recently started learning LINQ, and most of the examples show the queries occurring right from the Web Application code-behinds(it's possible that I've only seen overly simplified examples). In the n-tier architectures, this was always seen as a big no-no. I'm a bit unsure of how to architect a new Web Application. I've been using the Server Explorer and dbml designer in VS2008 to create the dbml and object relationships. It seems a little unclear to me if the dbml would be considered the DAL layer, if the website should call methods within a BLL, which then would do the LINQ queries, etc. What are some general architecture best practices, or approaches to creating a Web Application solution using LINQ to SQL?

  • how to get group total in self refrenced data in data table ?

    - by Nikhil Vaghela
    I have three columns in my data table. 1) ProductID 2) ProductParentID 3) ProductTotal ProductID and ProductParentID are self refrencing columns where i can set parent child relationship and get child rows based on my relationship. Let us say i have following data Product1     Product11     Product12     Product13         Product131         Product132         Product133 Product2     Product21     Product22     Product23 Next to above hierarchy in Product total column what i want is total of each child rows and sum of those child rows product total should be rolled up to it parent product. E.g if Product 131 total is 10,Product 13 total is 15 and Product 133 total is 5 then the product 13 total should be 30. The logic should work for n number of self hierarchy. Is there any functionality in data table itself where i can achieve this without iterating through each row and do it manually ? Thanks.

  • Rails: Helpers and Models - where to organize code

    - by Sam
    More and more I'm putting all of my code in models and helpers concerning MVC. However, sometimes I'm not sure where to organize code. Should it go into the model or should it go into a helper. What are the benefits of each. Is one faster or are they the same. I've heard something about all models getting cached so it seems then like that would be a better place to put most of my code. For example here is a scenario that works in a model or in helper: def status if self.purchased "Purcahsed" elsif self.confirmed "Confirmed" elsif self.reserved "Reserved" else "Pending" end end I don't need to save this status as in the database because there are boolean fields for purchased, and confirmed, and reserved. So why put this in a model or why put it into a helper? So I'm not sure of the best practice or benefits gained on putting code into a model or into helper if it can be in both.

  • Android ksoap nested soap objects in request gives error in response

    - by Smalesy
    I'm trying to do the following soap request on Android using KSOAP. It contains a list of nested soap objects. However, I must be doing something wrong as I get an error back. The request I am trying to generate is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <soap12:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope"> <soap12:Body> <SetAttendanceMarks xmlns="http://hostname.net/"> <strSessionToken>string</strSessionToken> <LessonMarks> <Count>int</Count> <LessonMarks> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> </LessonMarks> </LessonMarks> </SetAttendanceMarks> </soap12:Body> </soap12:Envelope> My code is as follows: public boolean setAttendanceMarks(List<Mark> list) throws Exception { boolean result = false; String methodName = "SetAttendanceMarks"; String soapAction = getHost() + "SetAttendanceMarks"; SoapObject lessMarksN = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); for (Mark m : list) { PropertyInfo smProp =new PropertyInfo(); smProp.setName("LessonMark"); smProp.setValue(m); smProp.setType(Mark.class); lessMarksN.addProperty(smProp); } PropertyInfo cProp =new PropertyInfo(); cProp.setName("Count"); cProp.setValue(list.size()); cProp.setType(Integer.class); SoapObject lessMarks = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); lessMarks.addProperty(cProp); lessMarks.addSoapObject(lessMarksN); PropertyInfo sProp =new PropertyInfo(); sProp.setName("strSessionToken"); sProp.setValue(mSession); sProp.setType(String.class); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(getHost(), methodName); request.addProperty(sProp); request.addSoapObject(lessMarks); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER12); envelope.dotNet = true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); HttpTransportSE androidHttpTransport = new HttpTransportSE(getURL()); androidHttpTransport.debug = true; androidHttpTransport.call(soapAction, envelope); String a = androidHttpTransport.requestDump; String b = androidHttpTransport.responseDump; SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; SoapObject res = (SoapObject) resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty(0); String resultStr = res.getPropertyAsString("Result"); if (resultStr.contentEquals("OK")) { result = true; } return result; } The error I get is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <soap:Body> <soap:Fault> <soap:Code> <soap:Value>soap:Sender</soap:Value> </soap:Code> <soap:Reason> <soap:Text xml:lang="en">Server was unable to read request. ---&gt; There is an error in XML document (1, 383). ---&gt; The specified type was not recognized: name='LessonMarks', namespace='http://gsdregapp.net/', at &lt;LessonMarks xmlns='http://gsdregapp.net/'&gt;.</soap:Text> </soap:Reason> <soap:Detail /> </soap:Fault> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?   • Testing objects for changes

    - by David Veeneman
    I have an application that needs to determine whether a user has made a change to an object. So, when the object is first loaded, I create a deep copy (using serialization/deserialization) and save the copy to a separate field. The copy becomes myCurrentObject, and the original becomes myOriginalObject. Now I need to test myCurrentObject for changes, which I plan to do by comparing it to myOriginalObject. All I need is a boolean result indicating whether any changes have been made. I have already determined that a simple hashcode comparison won't work. GetHashCode() generates different results for the two objects, even when there are no changes. I am getting ready to write a method to do a property-by-property comparison, but before I do, I thought I would check to see if there is a simpler and more reusable way to test myCurrentObject to see if it has changed from myOriginalObject. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

  • onchange force page submit

    - by cometta
    <form jwcid="@Form" listener="listener:updateStaff"> <select jwcid="staffselect@Select" multiple="ognl:false" validators="validators:required" onchange="this.form.submit()" listener="listener:updateStaff"> <span jwcid="@For" source="ognl:hrStaff" value="ognl:currentHrStaff" index="ognl:currentHrStaffIndex"> <option class="text11" jwcid="@Option" selected="ognl:hrStaffSelection[currentHrStaffIndex]" label="ognl:currentHrStaff"/> </span> </select> </form> when onchange on selectbox, this form will be submitted and my pageValidate() will be called follow by upadteStaff() listener method. I wonder, when such submission is fired, can onchange='' pass a flag ('selectboxisfired' string) that i able to capture inside pagevalidate() 'selectboxisfired'? this will allow my logic inside pagevalidate to indicate is triggered by selectbox.

  • Limit Connections with semaphores

    - by Robert
    I'm trying to limit the number of connections my server will accept using semaphores, but when running, my code doesn't seem to make this restriction - am I using the semaphore correctly? eg. I have hardcoded the number of permit as 2, but I can connect an unlimited number of clients... public class EServer implements Runnable { private ServerSocket serverSocket; private int numberofConnections = 0; private Semaphore sem = new Semaphore(2); private volatile boolean keepProcessing = true; public EServer(int port) throws IOException { serverSocket = new ServerSocket(port); } @Override public void run() { while (keepProcessing) { try { sem.acquire(); Socket socket = serverSocket.accept(); process(socket, getNextConnectionNumber()); } catch (Exception e) { } finally { sem.release(); } } closeIgnoringException(serverSocket); } private synchronized int getNextConnectionNumber() { return ++numberofConnections; } // processing related methods }

  • Difference between C++ Keyboard keycode and JAVA KeyEvent keycode

    - by Auxiliary
    I noticed a difference between the keycodes that vkCode in C++ gives and the ones that Java's KeyEvent gives us. (Ofcourse the normal characters have the same code (0 = 48 just like the ASCII) but they differ in the other keys). Is there a way to 'translate' them from one to the other (What's the logic behind each one?) or am I supposed to use loads of switches and IFs for that. If it helps, my app is half in C++ and half in JAVA because of the Native Hooks that c++ gives us and it gets the keycodes of the keys that the user presses and then the java is going to use them. Thanks in advance.

  • how to listen for changes in Contact Database

    - by hap497
    Hi, I am trying to listen for any change in the contact database. So I create my contentObserver which is a child class of ContentObserver: private class MyContentObserver extends ContentObserver { public MyContentObserver() { super(null); } @Override public void onChange(boolean selfChange) { super.onChange(selfChange); System.out.println (" Calling onChange" ); } } MyContentObserver contentObserver = new MyContentObserver(); context.getContentResolver().registerContentObserver (People.CONTENT_URI, true, contentObserver); But When I use 'EditContactActivity' to change the contact database, My onChange function does not get called.

  • Rabbitmq queue sharding

    - by kolchanov
    I have to implement this scenario: An external application publish message to rabbitmq. This message has a client_id property. We can place this id to routing key or message header or some other property. I have to implement sharding in a exchange routng logic - the message should be delivered to specific queue based on the client_id range. Is it possible to implement in a standard exchanges? If not what exchange should I take as the base? How to dynamicly change client_id ranges?

  • Binding UserControl to a NULL DataContext

    - by user634981
    I have a UserControl and am binding its DataContext to an object. I also bind the IsEnabled property of the UserControl to a boolean property of that object eg: <my:MyUserControl DataContext="{Binding Items.SelectedItem}" IsEnabled="{Binding Path=IsEditable}"/> This works fine provided Items.SelectedItem is not null. However, if it is null (which can happen sometimes if the Items collection is empty), the IsEnabled binding does not get evaluated and is set to true, which is not the desired behaviour. I've tried using a MultiBinding but without success because I don't know if it's possible to bind to the DataContext. I've also tried using a DataTrigger, but again without success. Would somebody kindly point me in the right direction as to the correct way I should be doing this. Thanks!

  • Java NumberFormatException

    - by Bragaadeesh
    Hi, I am trying to do a conversion of a String to integer for which I get a NumberFormatException. The reason is pretty obvious. But I need a workaround here. Following is the sample code. public class NumberFormatTest { public static void main(String[] args) { String num = "9.18E+09"; try{ long val = Long.valueOf(num); }catch(NumberFormatException ne){ //Try to convert the value to 9180000000 here } } } I need the logic that goes in the comment section, a generic one would be nice. Thanks.

  • Disable keyboard on EditText

    - by Ferox
    I'm doing a calculator. So I made my own Buttons with numbers and functions. The expression that has to be calculated, is in an EditText, because I want users can add numbers or functions also in the middle of the expression, so with the EditText I have the cursor. But I want to disable the Keyboard when users click on the EditText. I found this example that it's ok for Android 2.3, but with ICS disable the Keyboard and also the cursor. public class NoImeEditText extends EditText { public NoImeEditText(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); } @Override public boolean onCheckIsTextEditor() { return false; } } And then I use this NoImeEditText in my XML file <com.my.package.NoImeEditText android:id="@+id/etMy" .... /> How I can make compatible this EditText with ICS??? Thanks.

  • Map Reduce Frameworks/Infrastructure

    - by Johannes Rudolph
    Map Reduce is a pattern that seems to get a lot of traction lately and I start to see it manifest in one of my projects that is focused on an event processing pipeline (iPhone Accelerometer and GPS data). I needed to built a lot of infrastructure for this project, in fact it overweighs the logic code interacting with it by 2x. Some of the components I built where EventProcessors (with in- and output plus buffering, timing etc.), multiplexers and aggregators. This leads me to my question what the "common" required infrastrucutre for map reduce is. Since I am working with .Net a lot I can see map reduce infrastructure built into the Framework and language constructs. Functional languages support this paradigm per se. It seems every language can be used with map reduce, some have better support than others, others again are built around that concept (e.g. Go). And there are Frameworks like Apache Hadoop to support map reduce.

  • what pattern to use for multi-argument method?

    - by Omid S
    I have a method with the following signature: foo (Sample sample, Aliquot aliquot) "foo" needs to alter a Sample object, either the first argument or from the second argument it can extract its Sample. For example: foo (Sample sample, Aliquot aliquot) { Sample out = null; if (sample != null) out = sample else out = aliquot.getSample() return out; } But that is so un-elegant, other than reading the API a developer does not know the reference of the first argument overrides the Sample of the second argument. Now, I could change "foo" to foo (SomeMagicalObject bar) where SomeMagicalObject is a tuple for Sample and Aliquot and holds some logic ... etc. But I am wondering, are there some patterns for this question?

  • Correct Use of .NET Exception

    - by destructo_gold
    What is the correct exception to throw in the following instance? If, for example, I have a class: Album with a collection of Songs: List<Song> And a method within Album to add a Song: public void AddSong(Song song) { songs.Add(song); } Should I throw an exception of a user attempts to add a song that already exists? If so, what type of exception? I have heard the phrase: "Only use exceptions in exceptional circumstances", but I want to tell the client implementing Album exactly what has gone wrong (not just return a Boolean value).

  • Need help with using regular expression in Java

    - by richard
    Hi, I am trying to match pattern like '@(a-zA-Z0-9)+ " but not like 'abc@test'. So this is what I tried: Pattern MY_PATTERN = Pattern.compile("\\s@(\\w)+\\s?"); String data = "[email protected] #gogasig @jytaz @tibuage"; Matcher m = MY_PATTERN.matcher(data); StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(); boolean result = m.find(); while(result) { System.out.println (" group " + m.group()); result = m.find(); } But I can only see '@jytaz', but not @tibuage. How can I fix my problem? Thank you.

  • JavaScript Metaprogramming: Reduce boilerplate of adding functions to a function queue

    - by thurn
    I'm working with animation in JavaScript, and I have a bunch of functions you can call to add things to the animation queue. Basically, all of these functions look like this: function foo(arg1, arg2) { _eventQueue.push(function() { // actual logic } } I'm wondering now if it would be possible to cut down on this boilerplate a little bit, though, so I don't need that extra "_eventQueue" line in the function body dozens of times. Would it be possible, for example, to make a helper function which takes an arbitrary function as an argument and returns a new function which is augmented to be automatically added to the event queue? The only problem is that I need to find a way to maintain access to the function's original arguments in this process, which is... complicated.

  • How do views reduce code duplication?

    - by Debuger
    Hi! I read something like this about db views: Views are incredibly powerful and useful for one reason that stands out above all the other very good reasons. They reduce code duplication. That is, in most cases, the bottom line. If a query will be used in three or more places, then a view will drastically simplify your changes if the schema or query parameters change. I once had to edit 22 stored procedures to change some query logic. If the original architecture had utilized views, then I would have had only three changes. Can anyone explain to me how it works, and maybe give me some examples? Best regards!
