• css to replace characters in paragraph tag

  Already checked exisitng questions for this, but didn't find an exact match. My aim is to replace characters (like spaces) on a webpage with a small image using css. Example: <p><span>This is a text</span></p> becomes: <p><span>ThisIMGisIMGaIMGtext</span></p> (where IMG stands for a visible image (middot-pic for a space f.e.)) I cannot think of a suitable css selector. But myabe one of you guys (or girls) know a solution. Is this possible at all?

• Why is Python 3.1.3 in the header listed as a syntax error?

  Hi, I'm a newbie programmer so I'll do my best to clearly ask my question. I'm running Python scripts in Mac 10.6.5 and now trying to write and save to a text file (following instructions in HeadsUp Python book). Whenever I hit function+F5 (as instructed) I get the same "invalid syntax" error and Idle highlights the "1" in "Python 3.1.3" of the header. Here's the header to which I'm referring: Python 3.1.3 (r313:86882M, Nov 30 2010, 09:55:56) [GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5494)] on darwin Type "copyright", "credits" or "license()" for more information. Extremely frustrating. I've checked and rechecked the code but this doesn't seem to be code related because the "syntax error" is in regards to the header text that posts in every Idle/Python session. Help anyone?   Hello, I'm developing an application for windows mobile 6.5. Im writing the code in c#.net and want to send sms due to my app. I checked out the POOM and sms sending worked fine. Code: SmsMessage msg = new SmsMessage(); msg.To.Add(receiver); msg.Body = messageText; msg.Send(); But there's one problem. I want that the messages will be saved/copied to the "send messages" folder, after my program has sent them. How can I realize that. Is it possible with the POOM, oder should I work with MAPI and generate a converted copy of the msg-Object in the "send messages"-folder? greets, raffi

• jquery $.ajax call succeeds but returns nothing. (jsonp)

I checked the firebug 'net' tab and indeed i get a succesful response from the server of "jsonp1272724228884( {} );" Any ideas?

• sql connection problem only from another computer

  I have a task that runs nightly. It connects to a sql server on our network and when I run it from my machine it runs fine. When it runs from the other computer I get the following error. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I've checked with our systems admin and he said nothing has changed on the sql box or on the box in question so I'm not sure why it runs fine from one and not the other. From what I've read about this error it sounds like it's a setting on the sql server that would disallow it to run on either box.

• How do you run a .bat file from PHP?

  Can anyone tell me how to execute a .bat file from a PHP script? I have tried - exec("C:[path to file]"); system("C:[path to file]"); nothing is working. Ive checked the PHP manuals and googled around but cant find a good answer. Anyone know where im going wrong? I'm running windows 2003 server and have successfully manually ran the .bat file and it does what i need it to, I just need to be able to launch it programatically. thanks

• Why is it when I set "closeOnEscape" to false and then "closeOnEscape" to true jquery dialog escape

  Hi I am using jquery ui 1.8 and I have a model dialog that popups up and if a user clicks on a checkbox another one comes up. This requires them to say "yes" or "no" so I removed the "X" on the dialog and put closeOnEscape to false. However I noticed when I did that the model dialog underneath it would close when they hit escape. So now when the one that pops up when the checkbox is checked I disable closeOnEscape on the first dialog box. When they close it I enable again yet it does not work. I am not sure why $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", true); I even do this in firebug. I just open my first dialog up Do this in firebugs console $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", false); Then verify that escape is now disabled. I then try to enable it again $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", true); Yet it never enables.

• Generated PersonController expects Authority to contain word ROLE

  I'm brand new to acegi and relatively new to Grails. I just followed the tutorial to set up a new role and a new user. Every time I saved the user (with a role checked), it saved the user information fine, but not the role associated with the user. I finally dug into the controller code that was generated, and noticed this: private void addRoles(person) { for (String key in params.keySet()) { if (key.contains('ROLE') && 'on' == params.get(key)) { Authority.findByAuthority(key).addToPeople(person) } } } So to be sure I was interpreting it correctly, I added the word ROLE to my authorties, and it worked like a charm. Am I missing something obvious, is this a bug, or.......? The examples showed simple role names like "user" or "manager".

Such that the row might be incremented row that is if structure has a field called "id" then the row can be id++ or very next incremented row, but it may also b any other id containing row (NOT VERY NEXT) , (because the ids could be deleted from the table). the point of id I am talking about is It could be 1,2,3,4.... or it could be 1,6,7,8,23.. so on.... • Issues with installing PHPUnit

  So I've installed PHP Unit via PEAR (all the files are there, I've checked). However, when I try to run a test I get: Warning: require_once(PHPUnit/Framework.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\WAMP\www\ExampleTests\arraytest.php on line 2 I'm guessing this has something to do with my PHPUnit installation not updating the include_path properly, but I'm not too sure what to update it to? I'm on Windows (7), using WAMP. Cheers! EDIT: The bottom of PHP.ini contains: ;***** Added by go-pear include_path=".;C:\WAMP\bin\php\php5.3.10\pear" ;***** I also get the error: Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'PHPUnit/Framework.php' (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') However, after looking in PHP.ini, there's no include path that points to C:\php\pear?

• Iterating through a range of dates in Python

  This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. Any suggestions are welcome. day_count = (end_date - start_date).days + 1 for single_date in [d for d in (start_date + timedelta(n) for n in range(day_count)) if d <= end_date]: print strftime("%Y-%m-%d", single_date.timetuple()) Notes: I'm not actually using this to print; that's just for demo purposes. The variables start_date and end_date are datetime.date objects, because I don't need the timestamps (they're going to be used to generate a report). I checked the StackOverflow questions which were similar before posting this, but none were exactly the same. • How to change word recognition in vim spell?

  I like that vim 7.0 supports spell checking via :set spell, and I like that it by default only checks comments and text strings in my C code. But I wanted to find a way to change the behavior so that vim will know that when I write words containing underscores, I don't want that word spell checked. The problem is that I often will refer to variable or function names in my comments, and so right now vim thinks that each piece of text that isn't a complete correct word is a spelling error. Eg. /* The variable proj_abc_ptr is used in function do_func_stuff' */ Most of the time, the pieces seperated by underscores are complete words, but other times they are abbreviations that I would prefer not to add to a word list. Is there any global way to tell vim to include _'s as part of the word when spell checking?

  Sorry for such a simple question but I can't seem to find the solution. I am trying to fade in and out some divs. Divs have an ID of "div1", "div2", "div3". My code is: var Divs = new Array("div1", "div2", "div3"); I want to fade out one div and then fade in the next on top of it. I have a setinterval that runs every 5 seconds and checked it works. Inside it is this code: $(Divs[1]).fadeOut(1000); $(Divs[2]).fadeIn(1000); However nothing happens when the timer method is ran. Any ideas?

  Hello, I have such code: // Non singleton class MyLogManager { void write(message) {Ogre::LogManager::getSingletonPtr()->logMessage(message);} } class Utils : public singleton<Utils> { MyLogManager *handle; MyLogManager& getHandle { return *handle; } }; namespace someNamespace { MyLogManager &Log() { return Utils::get_mutable_instance().getHandle(); } } int main() { someNamespace::Log().write("Starting game initializating..."); } In this code I'm using boost's singleton (from serialization) and calling Ogre's log manager (it's singleton-type too). The program fails at any trying to do something with Ogre::LogManager::getSingletonPtr() object with code User program stopped by signal (SIGSEGV) I checked that getSingletonPtr() returns address 0x000 But using code Utils::get_mutable_instance().getHandle().write("foo") works good in another part of program. What's wrong could be there with calling singletons?

• Why are button sizes on Eclipse vs Device not the same.

  O.k....this is weird. I had my buttons looking fine last week, now something has changed. My buttons on the eclipse emulator are much larger than on my device (Droid 2.1). I checked my skin settings, screen size permissions, density factors....what am I missing? My skin is set to WVGA854, but when the app goes to the phone the buttons are smaller!? Text and pictures are fine...looking the same as the emulator...just the buttons are shrunk! Hmm....I know it has to be something simple...:)

• Strange PYTHONPATH problem

  I recently updated my python installation to 2.7 (previously 2.5), and I've noticed a strange problem where I cannot import certain modules that I created. I had no problem before. Normally, I edit the PYTHONPATH and add the directory I want to import modules. For some strange reason, I can no longer import. I checked my path in PYTHONPATH, and it looked correct. When I display the sys.path in an interpreter, I see the current directory prepended to every PYTHONPATH entry(i.e. 'c:\blah\blah c:\path\to\module') If I edit the sys.path by appending the directory that I want at the end of the list,everything works fine(i.e. 'c:\path\to\module\'). I never had to do this before. I'm on Windows 7 on two computers. Has anyone else had similar trouble?

  Hi All, I am currently looking at setting up an Ipad app project into subversion. Ive had a lot of experience with windows based development and .net. With this we have just created a repository in a network folder (by just right clicking - TortiseSVN - create repository) , than all we have done is our developers have checked out from this directory. How do we go about doing this in xcode. I know subversion is integrated with xcode and I am pretty confident of doing everything (from tutorials) except for the creation of the repository. Just wondering how we go about creating a repository in a folder based up on network folder? Thanks in advance

  In my project I take a string from user and then I need to check if vowels a, e, I, O, U are present. If so, I have to find out which one comes first in the string and which one comes next after that. For example, if a user gave input something like this: char expr[] = "this is for something real"; I comes first, then I again, then O and so on. I checked whether the characters are in the string or not using strchr(expr,'character here'). To find which character comes first, I find the index of each character using const char *ptr = strchr(expr, characters here); if(ptr) { int index = ptr - expr; } After that I check which index is bigger. But this is very long process. Is there a smarter way to do this?

  When compiling my app I get the following error: android-apt-compiler: ... \res\values-v14\styles.xml:12: error: Error retrieving parent for item: No resource found that matches the given name '@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large. The code it is complaining about is: <style name="Title" parent="@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large"> <item name="android:layout_height">wrap_content</item> <item name="android:layout_width">wrap_content</item> </style> I checked my manifest file and I have set the SDK to: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> Which i believe allows for using the Holo Themes. I am using Android Studio though I doubt that is the cause of the error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

• Windows service installed successfully but not responding after started.

  I have a windows service written in C#, .Net framework 2.0. I installed it on three machines and it worked fine but on one machine (with .Net framework 2.0) the setup has installed the service successfully but the service is not responding after I start it. I check for this by checking whether a log file is created at a specific path insribed in the config file or not. This log file is created everytime the timer elapses the interval time. I'm unable to figure out the reason. Have checked all the parameters but unable to get any solution to this. The funny thing is that the same setup is running well on other machines. P.S.: I have admin access on all the servers I'm installing this service on.

• What's some simple F# code that generates the .tail IL instruction?

  I'd like to see the .tail IL instruction, but the simple recursive functions using tail calls that I've been writing are apparently optimized into loops. I'm actually guessing on this, as I'm not entirely sure what a loop looks like in Reflector. I definitely don't see any .tail opcodes though. I have "Generate tail calls" checked in my project's properties. I've also tried both Debug and Release builds in Reflector.
