• UITableView in a View controller by a UIViewController and not a UITableView

  Hi all, I have a View with lots of things inside it including buttons, a scroll view and a tableView (ipad app). I am controller this view with a viewController subclass but I don't know how to manage my tableView. I don't know where put the methods : - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath should i add them to my ViewController or should i create a new subclass of UITableViewController (and get them "for free") and set the dataSource and delegate of my tableView to that class when I create it programmatically? I am storing the data I want to show in my appDelegate following the tutorial : http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com/2008/10/sqlite-tutorial-selecting-data.html I am new at developing and I fear I am spagetti coding.   I find a lot of Perl one-liners online. Sometimes I want to convert these one-liners into a script, because otherwise I'll forget the syntax of the one-liner. For example, I'm using the following command (from nagios.com): tail -f /var/log/nagios/nagios.log | perl -pe 's/(\d+)/localtime($1)/e' I'd to replace it with something like this: tail -f /var/log/nagios/nagios.log | ~/bin/nagiostime.pl However, I can't figure out the best way to quickly throw this stuff into a script. Does anyone have a quick way to throw these one-liners into a Bash or Perl script?

  Hey, I'm trying to implement a ListView on Android, which will print the data retrieved from the SQLite Database. So I want to retrieve a lot of columns from the table and add this to a list, so I will print this list as a ListView. For this I created a method that will select all the columns from the table in a separate class, and I will print the ListView in a ListActivity. • OpenGL view in an iPad splitview

  I'm attempting to add an OpenGL view (such as the one given in Apple's sample code) as the detail view of an iPad's splitview but am running into issues. I've taken the sample code from the base OpenGL project and attempted to add it as a subview of my DetailViewController - ie EAGLView *glview = [[EAGLView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,100,100)] but when I add it to the main view and call startAnimating on it, nothing at all happens. Any solutions to this? I have never worked with OpenGL before so perhaps I'm doing this all wrong.

  Hi, I'm trying to avoid using Interface Builder as much as possible. At the moment I have the view controller created via code and change views via code as well. I now need one of the steps to send the app into a new view with a tab bar, that will allow me to change views as well. Ideally, what I'd do is tell the current view controller to add a Tab Bar to the bottom, but I'm not sure if that's doable, so I might have to swap the UIViewController with a UITabBarController?   I have been working for 4 months on an app, its pretty complex and works fine. Now suddenly, I added a new class and did some changes to the MainWindow.xib with all my views there and now I just get a plain white view when I launch it with simulator. I even stripped it down completely to nothing but the appdelegate and one simple plain view with a button. So basically I've got an app with nothing but an appDelegate managing a tabBar, launching with one simple view, no frameworks no nothing and I still get a white app. There must be an option somewhere that I must have activated for the running of app in simulator but I can't figure it out. I need to write one that copies a file to a new folder and renames it At the moment, my batch file consists of only this command: COPY ABC.PDF \\Documents As you can see, it only copies the file ABC.pdf to the network folder 'Documents'. However i need to change this so it renames the file ABCxxx.pdf, where xxx is a text variable that i would like to set somewhere in the batch file. For example, if xxx = "_Draft", then file would be renamed ABC_Draft.pdf after it is copied. Thanks

  i have an XCode 4 project for mac desktop. It has a tableview in it that uses NSTableCellViews. The TableView is connected to an NSArrayController to provide it's content. This is using bindings for custom labels and the like, which has worked out rather well. I have a custom view that i would like to put in the NSTableCellView, which will use custom drawing based on a NSNumber value from my Table Cell View binding. Since XCode 4, you can no longer have ibplugins, which means i can no longer create custom bindings for interface builder to work with. How can I still get this value to my custom view?

• How do I stub a view in rspec-2

  I'm in the process of upgrading an app to Rails 3/Rspec 2. I see that stubbing a view helper method has changed in Rspec 2. It looks like instead of doing template.stub!, we're now supposed to do view.stub!, but I can't seem to get this to work on beta 10. I get an "undefined local variable or method `view' for # < RSpec::Core::ExampleGroup::Nested_1::Nested_1::Nested_1:0x106785fd0" error. I see that in this commit David removed the view method, but I can't figure out what it was replaced with. Something in ActionView::TestCase::Behavior? I'm on rails 3.0.0.beta3. Any idea what I'm missing?

  How can I copy a file using DOS commands into a directory structure that may not yet exist? I need to be able to force the creation of the directory path to the target file location if that location doesn't already exist. For example, there is already a file.txt in this location: C:\file.txt And I want to copy it to C:\example\new\path\to\copy\of\file\file.txt but at this time C:\example\ and all the subdirectories may or may not yet exist. Basically, I am looking for a "copy and create the target path if necessary" command. What would you recommend is the best way to achieve this?

  I have python code that needs to do just a couple simple things to photographs: crop, resize, and overlay a watermark. I've used PIL, and the resample/resize results are TERRIBLE. I've used imagemagick, and the interface and commands were designed by packaging a cat in a box, and then repeatedly throwing it down a set of stairs at a keyboard. I'm looking for something which is not PIL or Imagemagick that I can use with python to do simple, high-quality image transformations. For that matter, it doesn't even have to have python bindings if the command line interface is good. Oh, and it needs to be relatively platform agnostic, our production servers are linux, but some of our devs develop on windows. It can't require the installation of a bunch of silly gui code to use as a library, either.

• Modal View Controller Undesirably Hides Tab Bar

  I am working on an application that requires user authentication to access a profile. The profile section is located solely under one tab (and all others tabs do not require authentication). I currently present a authentication view controller modally (and then dismiss on success) when the user selects the profile tab. However, this approach prevents the user from deciding not to register / login (that is, all tabs are hidden once the authentication screen is presented modally). I don't want the user to be able to dismiss the modal view controller, but rather have it modal only for the profile tab. Is this possible? Can I have tabs visible while having a modal view controller? What is the best approach here. Thanks.

  I am creating an application which involves so many web-service calls. I am using NSOperation to execute the web-service calls. There are several views in the application and I'm calling the web-service each time the view loads. Since it is navigation, if user decides to go back to the previous view even before the operation gets completed, another operation is getting into the queue and will be waiting for the previous operation to be completed. Is there any way to stop the previous operation from being executed when its view changes? pls help

When I try to drag the circle, the app just creates another circle over the original one, regardless of where I release the drag. qDebug() in DragScene's dropEvent() shows QPointF(0,0) everytime the drag ends. I'm having a hard time trying to understand exactly what I have to do, which classes I should subclass, which methods needs to be overriden, to make this work. The documentation on this isn't very detailed. I'd like to know how to make this work, and if there's some other, more comprehensive resource to learn about the graphics view framework, besides the official documentation (which is excellent btw, but it would be great if there was a more detailed treatise on the subject). EDIT: Following badgerr's advice, I replaced item-pos() in DragScene::dropEvent() with item-scenePos(), now the drop event creates a new circle in the drop site, which is more or less what I wanted. But the original circle is still in place, and while the drag is in progress, the item doesn't follow the mouse cursor. The QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent documentation says that pos() should return the cursor position in relation to the view that sent the event, which, unless I got it wrong, shouldn't be (0,0) all the time. Weird. I've read in a forum post that you can use QDrag::setPixMap() to show something during the drag, and in examples I've seen pictures being set as pixmaps, but how do I make the pixmap just like the graphics item I'm supposed to be dragging?

• How is the iPhone SMS compose view implemented?

  Regarding the SMS compose view as show in the picture below: I have two questions: 1) How is the text entry box implemented? There are no standard control from the API and the box is smart enough to resize when you press enter OR when the text is too long. Also the bar resizes with it. How is this done with the least coding? 2) How to code it such that when the keyboard shows up the whole view shifts up? Typically when the keyboard shows, it goes over your current view.
