  Hi, I am looking for a easy to use and deploy sql type database i can ship with a desktop application. This will be a small application user's can download from my website. In the vb6 days, access was the common database for small desktop apps, what is my option these days? Looking at SQL CE it seems to have a quite a few limitations such as count(distinct) etc SQL express needs to be installed and running as a service (could i include the SQL express deployments in my deployment so the user doesn't even know its been installed? I assume size would then be an issue) SQL 2005/2008 is not an option due to size and licensing restrictions. I would like to use c#, wpf and entity framework. What would seem to be the best options based on your knowledge and experience? Thanks

All I could find was how to either create the databases by a DBA and grant the privileges on this database to the specific user: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbTest.* TO 'user'; or grant privileges on all databases to a user: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'user'; But neither is what I want, because it needs to scale and be secure.

  I am trying to install Php on Vista (IIS 7). The installation and configuration seems to be fine. Pretty much followed everything mentioned in http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2006/09/19/How-to-install-PHP-on-IIS7-_2800_RC1_2900_.aspx I can even bring up a test.php which is basically and can also connect to mysql db through code. But when I try to bring up some other php page like drupal's index page or phpmyadmin index page, it brings up a Php access violation message. Any clue whats happening? Also is there some tracing/diagnositic tool for php to trace whats happenign on the webserver.

But under XP the logic contained within FireAttackProc gets executed but none of the sound clips play. Is there a quick solution to this so the sound will play under XP? I ask for a quick solution because i am happy being able to execute fully in Vista/Win7 but would be great if there was a quick solution so it would be XP compitable also. Thank you.

  I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page.   I'm creating an application which communicates with the device via FT2232H USB/RS232 converter. For communication I'm using FTD2XX_NET.dll library from FTDI website. I'm using two threads: first thread continuously reads data from the device the second thread is the main thread of the Windows Form Application I've got a problem when I'm trying to write any data to the device while the receiver's thread is running. The main thread simply hangs up on ftdiDevice.Write function. I tried to synchronize both threads so that only one thread can use Read/Write function at the same time, but it didn't help. Below code responsible for the communication. Note that following functions are methods of FtdiPort class. I attempted to write a regex that would suffice for either condition. No dice.   Hello everyone! I've configure a git server. I need to use ssh because I've defined permissions using users of my domain, using LDAP. Only users with permissions could read a project. So, the links to access my repositories are like that: ssh://[email protected]@hostname/var/git/repo.git When I clone, commit or push a project using linux git commands or using tortoisegit on windows, there is no problem, everything works as expected. However, I've tried to clone a project using plugins from Eclipse (EGit) and Netbeans (NBGit), with no success. Seems that they can't recognize the host. I've accessed using a user from the server (not from the domain) and it cloned the project perfectly. Seems that the plugins assume that the host is everything after the first @.   This may be a niche question but I'm working with ICU to format currency strings. I've bumped into a situation that I don't quite understand. When using the MesssageFormat class, is it possible to get access to the NumberFormat object it uses to format currency strings. When you create a NumberFormat instance yourself, you can specify attributes like precision and rounding used when creating currency strings. I have an issue where for the South Korean locale ("ko_KR"), the MessageFormat class seems to create currency strings w/ rounding (100.50 - ?100). In areas where I use NumberFormat directly, I set setMaximumFractionDigits and setMinimumFractionDigits to 2 but I can't seem to set this in the MessageFormat. Any ideas?

  My web application requires functionality where end users can upload content, that can be later downloaded or viewed by others, the problem with current scheme is If I create such folder as part of your web project under webapps, every time I do deploy your web application (*.war), the content of that directory will be lost (or overridden). I think the best way to accomplish that is to create folder outside of standard tomcat webapps and access it from there, not sure how to do. Please point in correct direction. I want the users to be restricted to only accessing other pages on the site through the main page. The first page contains a frame for navigation and then a frame for content of the page they navigate to. I want it to be setup so that the only way they can access the content pages is by using this main page. So if the main page is http://intranet/index.html then they cannot get to http://intranet/other_page.html without using the link provided in index.html. Is this possible and if so what would the best technique be? I'm using apache to serve the site and I have php and javascript available.

• Access SDExplorer (System Folder) from my C# app

  Hello everyone I am trying out Windows Live SkyDrive, and I installed SDExplorer (http://www.cloudstorageexplorer.com/) It works by adding my SkyDrive folder to Windows Explorer, but it does not get a drive name or anything, so how can I access that drive/folder from my C# application? When I go into the folder and look at the address bar it says "Computer\SDExplorer". Directory.GetDirectories(@"\Computer\SDExplorer") does not work, because it translates to "C:\Computer\SDExplorer". I would like to be able to create a small application that can create folders and upload files to my SkyDrive account. Anybody know how these special folder/drives work? - I noticed MozyHome appears in the same way in my Windows Explorer.

• Access to Apache::DBI from DBI

  Is it possible to access a Apache::DBI database handle from a perl script (that isn't running under mod_perl). What I am looking for is database pooling for my perl scripts, I have a fair number of database sources (oracle/mysql) and a growing number of scripts. Some ideas like SQLRelay, using Oracle10XE with database links and pooling, and or convert all scripts to SOAP calls, etc are becoming more and more viable. But if there was a mechanism for reusing Apache::DBI I could fight this a bit. I have no non-perl requirements, so we don't have a php/jdbc implementation or similar to deal with. Thanks

  We are migrating application from Delphi to Flex (Air) that plays mp3 files from random access big file. it has positions and sizes to extract mp3 data to FileStream-MemoryStream and then we use bass.dll to play it from memory stream. Now I have to play those same mp3's in flex but I am not sure how... I was reading something similar for reading/writing data using ByteArray from here but how to apply it to flash.media.Sound ? http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=ByteArrays_2.html Any help?

• Using RouteExistingFiles to block access to existing files even if no route exists

  In ASP.net MVC 2, I can use routes.RouteExistingFiles = true; to send all requests through the routing system, even if they exist on the file system. Usually, this ends up hitting the "{controller}/{action}/{id}" route and throws an exception as the controller cannot be found. I do not want to use that route though (I have only a few URLs and they are specifically mapped), yet I would still like to prevent access to the file system. Basically I want to Whitelist pages using IgnoreRoute. Is there a built-in way to do this? My current approach is to still have the "{controller}/{action}/{id}" route and generate a 404 when this is hit, but I'm just wondering if something is built-in already?
