  • Why should I use display:table instead of table

    What's the benefits of structuring my site with divs and apply the display:table property ( display:tr, display:tr). Doesn't this mean that the divs will behave exactly like tr and td elements? I know I probably shouldn’t use tables or table behavior for layout at all but I'm just curious if there's a difference and a benefit?

  • With custom binding for Masonry how would I resize the container appropriately

    Based on the suggestion give here, and the information given here on how to make a custom bindingHandler for a forEach, I decided to attempt to write my own custom binding for a forEach and Masonry. Because the elements are added on the fly the redrawing and moving around of elements to fill the space doesn't occur. So, this functionality needed to be moved after the elements have been rendered or called after each item has been added.     Simple but little tricky, if I have list.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this,R.layout.double_row, R.id.doubleRow, articleItemsHelper)); it works if articleItemsHelper is String, but I wanna have HTML formatting in there so when articleItemsHelper is type Spanned this (adapter) doesn't work. ArrayList<Spanned> articleItemsHelper = new ArrayList<Spanned>(); What's the solution?

  • How to store byte[] from Android Camera onPictureTaken method within application for later use

    I am writing a larger Android application and I use the camera within the app. All I want to do with the camera is have the user take a picture, then start a new activity to show that image and allow the user to decide if they want to keep the image or not. I am having the hardest time figuring out how to simply store the byte[] data from the onPictureTaken method so that I can display it to the user in the next activity. I have tried many different routes and none of them have worked. The last thing I tried was creating a globalsettings class that extends the Application class and creating a byte[] field within it to store the byte[] from the camera so that I could use it within another activity, but my global variable is still not getting set. So what i want to do is, sometimes i want to start activity as Theme Dialog and some times using setContentView. I can't use <activity android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Dialog"> in manifest file as it will always display activity as dialog. So can we do it programmatic, i have also tried setTheme() method but it did't work. Thanks, PP.

    In an iPhone app, how do I keep the software keyboard from obscuring buttons, or UITextView fields in a View? I've got the following layout: View -\ UITextView UIButton ... but, the keyboard obscures the button at the bottom when I'm typing in the UITextView. I tried using the following: View -\ UIScrollView -\ UITextView UIButton ... but, the window does not scroll as expected, so the user has no way of clicking the button. How is this normally handled?

    Hi Complete novice question. I've used jQuery a bit, YUI not at all and know very little about it. I work on a website thats IE specific, we're now looking at making it cross browser. jQuery seems great at hiding the differences between browsers from a javascript point of view. However in terms of css layout is it YUI that I should really be looking at? thanks
