• What's the diffrence btw System property and system environment variable

  Hi all I am not clear about this. When I run a java App or run an Applet in applet viewer,( in the IDE environment), System.getProperty("java.class.path") give me the same as System.getenv("CLASSPATH"), which is the CLASSPATH env variable defined. But when I deploy my applet to webserver and access it from the same computer as a client, I get different result for the two (System.getProperty("java.class.path") only point to jre home and System.getenv("CLASSPATH") return null). And here is some other things that make me wonder: For the applet part, the env var JAVA_HOME, i get the same result when deploying the applet in a browser as well as Applet Viewer. And if I define myself a env variable at system level, and use getenv("envName") the result is null. Is there anyway I can define one and get it in my java program? Thanks a lot Regards K.

In the "real" object I have: StreamWriter createFile( string name ) { return new StreamWriter( Path.Combine( _outFolder, name ), false, Encoding.UTF8 ) ); } In the mock object I'd like to have: StreamWriter createFile( string name ) { var ms = new MemoryStream(); _files.Add( Path.Combine( _outFolder, name ), ms ); return new StreamWriter( ms, Encoding.UTF8 ) ); } where _files is a dictionary to store created files for later inspection. However, when the consumer closes the StreamWriter, it also disposes the MeamoryStream... :-( Any thoughts on how to pursue this?

• Different return XML in a WCF Operation

  I am writing a service to a international HTTP standard, and there is one method that can return three different XML results, call them Single, Multiple and Error. Now I've written an IXmlSerializable class that can consume each of these results and generate them. However, WCF seems to insist that I can only have a single return XML root name. I have to choose an XmlRoot for my custom object of either Single, Multiple or Error. How can I set up WCF so that I can choose at runtime what the root will be?   Hello, I want to extend a web server which is only able to handle RPC handling now. The web server is written in C#. It provides a abstract handler function like following: public string owsHandler(string request, string path, string param, OSHttpRequest httpRequest, OSHttpResponse httpResponse) And I wrote following code to handle image files: Bitmap queryImg = new Bitmap(path); System.IO.MemoryStream stream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(); queryImg.Save(stream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp); queryImg.Dispose(); byte[] byteImage = stream.ToArray(); stream.Dispose(); return Convert.ToBase64String(byteImage); And I test it in the browser, the image is returned but the image dimension info is missed. Shall I add something more to the code? Or is any general way to server static files? I do not want to serve it in a ASP.net server. Thanks

  I can access the value like this: NSNumber* rotationZ = [myLayer valueForKeyPath:@"transform.rotation.z"]; But for some reason, if I try to KV-observe that key path, I get a compiler error. First, this is how I try to do it: [myLayer addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"transform.rotation.z" options:0 context:nil]; The compiler tells me: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[ addObserver: forKeyPath:@"rotation.z" options:0x0 context:0x528890] was sent to an object that is not KVC-compliant for the "rotation" property.' what I don't get is, why I can access that z value by KVC key path, but not add an observer to it. Does this make sense? How else could I observe the z value of that matrix? I don't care about the other values of the matrix. Only the z rotation. Any other way to access and observe it?

• SSL connection using Java standalone app

  I have created a standalone executable JAR program that needs to send private information over a SSL connection. I was not able to establish the SSL connection using certificates. Was getting this: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path `building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target` So I found some code somewhere that creates a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains: // Create a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{ new X509TrustManager() { public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() { return null; } public void checkClientTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } public void checkServerTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } } }; That did the trick and I was able to establish SSL connection without any certificates. My concern is if the data will still be encrypted when exchanging private information. This is an execute JAR file that clients will be downloading to their computers. So is a certificate really necessary for this case? Thanks.

  I understand that CFLAGS (or CXXFLAGS for C++) are for the compiler, whereas CPPFLAGS is used by the preprocessor. But I still don't understand the difference. I need to specify an include path for a header file that is included with #include -- because #include is a preprocessor directive, is the preprocessor (CPPFLAGS) the only thing I care about? Under what circumstances do I need to give the compiler an extra include path? In general, if the preprocessor finds and includes needed header files, why does it ever need to be told about extra include directories? What use is CFLAGS at all? (In my case, I actually found that BOTH of these allow me to compile my program, which adds to the confusion... I can use CFLAGS OR CPPFLAGS to accomplish my goal (in autoconf context at least). What gives?)

• Issue with converting PDF pages to images with ImageMagick's convert (and PHP)

  I'm trying to create a small web service to convert PDF files to a series of images. When I run convert /full/path/to/source.pdf full/path/to/target.jpg when connected to the (shared hosting, Linux) server via ssh, everything works correctly. When executing the same command through PHP's exec() function, only the first few pages of the PDF file get converted. Sometimes the remaining pages are 0-length jpg files, sometimes they don't appear at all. Also, the bottom area of the first pages is sometimes black, as if convert stopped half-way on the page. What could be causing this problem?

  hi, I'm using FUpload module to upload multiple images together from my CCK Image field. It perfectly works, however if I use it when I'm creating a new node, the other CCK Image fields stop to work and the images (from these fields) are not stored at all. The error I get is "path doesn't exist"... It sounds like fUpload force the other CCK fields to store the content before the node is saved and the folders are created. (I'm using path auto, to create folders accordingly to node title). Could you give me some tips ? Thanks

• Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

  All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

• How can I enable MySQL's slow query log without restarting MySQL?

Do I need to do anything else like set the filepath? According to MySQL's docs If no file_name value is given for --log-slow-queries, the default name is host_name-slow.log. The server creates the file in the data directory unless an absolute path name is given to specify a different directory. Running SHOW VARIABLES doesn't indicate any log file path and I don't see any slow query log file on my server...

  Hi, I'm developing an Eclipse SWT application using Eclipse. There are also some JUnit 4 tests, which test some DAO's. But when I try to run the tests via an ant build, all of the tests fail, because the test classes aren't found. Google brought up about a million of people who all have the same problem, but none of their solutions seem to work for me -.- . It is getting called when a user swipes, adds or rearranges, but I would like to call it manually/directly as a background thread changes my model.   How can I make xargs execute the command exactly once for each line of input given? It's default behavior is to chunk the lines and execute the command once, passing multiple lines to each instance. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xargs: find /path -type f -print0 | xargs -0 rm In this example, find feeds the input of xargs with a long list of file names. xargs then splits this list into sublists and calls rm once for every sublist. This is more efficient than this functionally equivalent version: find /path -type f -exec rm '{}' \; I know that find has the "exec" flag. I am just quoting an illustrative example from another resource.

Ant appears to resolve the property as a paramater to the propertyregexp, but then the dollar gets interpreted as a regexp symbol. • Is there a way to add an elmah rss feed to google reader?

  Elmah has an rss feed and rss digest feature. My feeds are working just fine from within my brwoser. However I would like to add them to google reader as this is my feed reader of choice. The problem is that Elmah uses an AXD handler to server its information - therefore the path to the RSS feed is not a physical one. For example the RSS feed for my site is located at: http://www.mysite.com/errors/elmah.axd/rss This is not a file nor does the folder structure exist - it is all part of the beauty of Elmah. When I attempt to add this virtual path as a feed in google reader i get: Your search did not match any feeds Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Jason

• Core Data deleteObject: sets attributes to nil

  I am implementing an undo/redo mechanism in my app. This works fine for lots of cases. However, I can't undo past deleteObject:. the object is correctly saved in the undo queue, and I get it back and reinsterted into the Core Data stack just fine when calling undo. The problem is that all it's attributes are getting set to nil when I delete it. I have an entity "Canvas" with a to-many relationship called "graphics" to a "Graphic" entity, which has its inverse set to "canvas". Deleting a Graphic, then inserting it back, doesn't work. • Drupal Clean Urls break randomly for arbitrary paths.

  I've done everything right. My server has mod_rewrite enabled, my virtualhost path has AllowOverride set to All, and I have the .htaccess file in place with the rewrite rules same as everyone. But I have trouble accessing some pages using their clean url paths. So for 90% of the pages, clean urls work fine. But for that 10%, they don't. I have checked whether those pages exist -- they do. Checked whether they are accessible using index.php?q=[path] -- and they are. They are only inaccessible through clean url paths. Can anyone help me with this mystery?

• PHP pathinfo gets fooled by url in quert string. Any workaround?

  I am working on a small function to take in a url and return a relative path based on where it resides itself. If the url contains a path in the query string, pathinfo returns incorrect results. This is demonstrated by the code below: $p = 'http://localhost/demos/image_editor/dir_adjuster.php?u=http://localhost/demos/some/dir/afile.txt'; $my_path_info = pathinfo($p); echo $p . '<br/><pre>'; print_r($my_path_info); echo '</pre>'; That code outputs: http://localhost/demos/image_editor/dir_adjuster.php?u=http://localhost/demos/some/dir/afile.txt Array ( [dirname] => http://localhost/demos/image_editor/dir_adjuster.php?u=http://localhost/demos/some/dir [basename] => afile.txt [extension] => txt [filename] => afile ) Which obviously is wrong. Any workaround?
