  • Use alias source with relative path

    - by notme
I want to add an alias file to my project folder to quickly open and edit files in it with a simple shell command. To make it more portable, I would like to use only relative paths. I want something like this: ### .profile source /my/project/folder/aliases.bash and ### aliases.bash editprojectfiles="edit [/my/project/folder/]afile.txt" The problem for me now is how to retrieve [/my/project/folder/] automatically. I tried to use $PWD variable, but the result is that the alias points to the folder of .profile file and not the aliases.bash ones. Is there a way to get this?

  • Installing flex on Mac Parallels

    - by Ali Syed
Hello folks, I am trying to install Flex 3 on my Windows 7 Virtual machine (parallels desktop) on my Mac Pro. The problem seems to be some sort of conflict between the copy of Flex 3 Builder installed on Mac OS X. The installer tries to install Flex in x:/Program Files/Adobe/Flex Builder 3/ but since Parallels Desktop connects all directories, there resides the Flex Builder 3 installation of MAC. I get this error Log: !SESSION 2010-04-22 16:09:23.031 ----------------------------------------------- eclipse.buildId=unknown java.version=1.5.0_11 java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. • How to get SVN to ignore Mac "._" files?

    - by Dave Child
My development server is accessed by several OSX users, and their OS tends to leave lots of unnecessary files around the place, all starting with dot underscore ("._"). I know OSX can be told not to create these on network drives, but they still sneak in. I'd like SVN to ignore anything starting with "._", but I can't seem to get it to work, even though it looks like it should be simple. I've added "._*" to the SVN global ignore pattern, but SVN is still trying to add and commit these files. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? My full SVN ignore pattern is: global-ignores = *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~ #*# .#* .*.swp .DS_Store Thumbs.db ._* *.bak *.tmp nbproject I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm trying to set this on both Ubuntu and Ubuntu server by editing the /etc/subversion/config file.

  • Mac OS X: Intel vs. PPC marketshare

    - by benc
I was looking at my plugins, and ended up looking at Silverlight on several Mac systems. What I noticed (from Wikipedia), was that only Silverlight 1 runs on PPC. Without knowing about the technical details and trade-offs, I was surprised. On its face, if you build Silverlight 1 for PPC and Intel, would it have been hard to continue to support both chipsets? So, assuming this was a decision based on marketshare, I tried to search for information on the Mac OS PPC vs. Intel marketshare, but could not find anything on point. Does anyone here have an idea what the ratio is? It seems like the most important architectural/product decision you would make for a Mac OS X product.

  • Eclispe RCP SWT menus for Windows and Mac OS

    - by Raven
Hi, how do I configure an Eclipse RCP command style menu to match the different menu structures on Windows and on Mac OS? Mac OS X menu example http://images.apple.com/macosx/refinements/images/services_menu_20090902.jpg Windows menu example http://www.flamingpear.com/images/psp8menu.gif In the example you see, the differences in the menu structures. For example has the Mac in its application menu the preference command, the about command and the exit command. These are under Windows usally in the file menu and the about command is found in the help menu. Is there a "standard" way of doing it with RCP programs? It should somehow be possible because Eclipse itself does it. But I can not figure out how.

Features I need - Contextual highlighting for PHP, HTML, CSS, and preferably many others FTP from a hotkey - so I can hit ctrl-s to save, then another combo to FTP it. Features I'd like - Code Completion I'm also interested in any comments in general about coding on a Mac and if it's really worth the extra $$$ to get one. Thanks

  • can't run a scala script on Mac OS X

    - by wataradio
Running a scala script on Mac OS X results in the following error: Unable to establish connection to compilation daemon I googled and found a page reported the same problem: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=576568 To solve the problem, the page said: Can you please tell what does /etc/sysctl.d/bindv6only.conf contain? If the value is 1, can you try to: 1) sudo sed -i 's/net.ipv6.bindv6only\ =\ 1/net.ipv6.bindv6only\ =\ 0/' \ /etc/sysctl.d/bindv6only.conf && sudo invoke-rc.d procps restart 2) Then, run scala/fsc as usual and see if the bug is still there. But I can't find a bindv6only.conf in my Mac OS X. How can I solve the problem? -- System Information: Scala version 2.7.7.final (Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, Java 1.6.0_20) Mac OS X 10.6.3

  • Packet Crafting on a Mac

    - by JayCrossler
I think (based on searching the forums), that NetCat is the best option, but wanted to hear if others are preferable. Anyone have good success with a packet-crafting tool (specifically on Mac)? I've tried HPing, but had some issues. I'm looking into NetCat ('nc' on mac) now, but it's not working as I had thought. Basically, I captured some packets that a remote control sends over a wifi network to turn lights on and off (using X10 controllers), and am looking for a way to replay them by crafting a TCP packet from the command line. I used Wireshark to sniff the traffic, so I know the package is: DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10" I'm trying: echo 'DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10"' nc 192.168.2.196 6003 but there's no response from the receiving system. The exact bytestream is (if anyone wants to check that I got the right dataframe): 08004642f1b400260897ad6308004500004b08e240004006aaf5c0a802c1c0a802c4d8d7177399aab39 e57ff4753801880ae37ea00000101080a323353ce01b406424445564943457e73656e64706c637e2243 34204f4e220a Next step I'm going to check is to make sure the packet arrives exactly by sniffing and compare it to the original. [EDIT: Also at ServerFault now: Packet Crafting on a Mac, so this one becomes a duplicate across the two sites]

  • Placement of command line options in bash

    - by Nathan Rambeck
I just starting using a Mac and have been frustrated that command line options are required immediately following the command so that this works: ls -la /usr but this doesn't: ls /usr -la ls: -la: No such file or directory Is there any way to change this? Or can someone tell me why the placement of options is agnostic on most Linux platforms, but not on Mac?

  • How to remove files and directories quickly

    - by None
I am using a mac. When I use the "rm" command it can only remove files. The "rmdir" command only removes empty folders. If you have a directory with files and folders with files and folders in them and so on. Is there anyway to delete all the files and folders without all the strenuous command typing? Remember, I am using the mac bash shell from terminal, not Microsoft DOS or linux.

  • How to- NSAttributedString to CGImageRef

    - by kroko
Hello! I'm writing a QuickLook plugin. Well, everything works. Just want to try it make better ;). Thus the question. Here is a function that returns thumbnail image and that I'm using now. QLThumbnailRequestSetImageWithData( QLThumbnailRequestRef thumbnail, CFDataRef data, CFDictionaryRef properties); ); http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/UserExperience/Reference/QLThumbnailRequest_Ref/Reference/reference.html#//apple_ref/c/func/QLThumbnailRequestSetImageWithData Right now I'm creating a TIFF - encapsulated it into NSData. An example // Setting CFDataRef CGSize thumbnailMaxSize = QLThumbnailRequestGetMaximumSize(thumbnail); NSMutableAttributedString *attributedString = [[[NSMutableAttributedString alloc] initWithString:@"dummy" attributes:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSFont fontWithName:@"Monaco" size:10], NSFontAttributeName, [NSColor colorWithCalibratedRed:0.0 green:0.0 blue:0.0 alpha:1.0], NSForegroundColorAttributeName, nil] ] autorelease]; NSImage *thumbnailImage = [[[NSImage alloc] initWithSize:NSMakeSize(thumbnailMaxSize.width, thumbnailMaxSize.height)] autorelease]; [thumbnailImage lockFocus]; [[NSColor whiteColor] set]; NSRectFill(NSMakeRect(0, 0, thumbnailMaxSize.width, thumbnailMaxSize.height)); [attributedString drawInRect:NSMakeRect(0, 0, thumbnailMaxSize.width, thumbnailMaxSize.height)]; [thumbnailImage unlockFocus]; (CFDataRef)[thumbnailImage TIFFRepresentation]; // This is data // Setting CFDictionaryRef (CFDictionaryRef)[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"kUTTypeTIFF", (NSString *)kCGImageSourceTypeIdentifierHint, nil ]; // this is properties However QuickLook provides another function to return thumbnail image, namely QLThumbnailRequestSetImage( QLThumbnailRequestRef thumbnail, CGImageRef image, CFDictionaryRef properties); ); http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/UserExperience/Reference/QLThumbnailRequest_Ref/Reference/reference.html#//apple_ref/c/func/QLThumbnailRequestSetImage I have a feeling that passing CGImage to the QL instead of TIFF data would help in speeding things up. However- I have never worked with CG context before. I know, the documentation is there :), but anyways- could anyone give an example how to turn that NSAttributed string into CGImageRef. An example is worth 10 times reading the documentation ;) Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!
