• Map only certain parts of the class to a database using SQLAlchemy?

  When mapping an object using SQLAlchemy, is there a way to only map certain elements of a class to a database, or does it have to be a 1:1 mapping? Example: class User(object): def __init__(self, name, username, password, year_of_birth): self.name = name self.username = username self.password = password self.year_of_birth = year_of_birth Say, for whatever reason, I only wish to map the name, username and password to the database and leave out the year_of_birth. Is that possible and will this create problems? Edit - 25/03/2010 Additionally, say I want to map username and year_of_birth to a separate database. Will this database and the one above still be connected (via username)?

• Make PasswordRecovery control work with locked out users ?

  Example scenario in an ASP.NET application using SQL Server membership provider : 1) a user can't remember their exact password, and tries many times in a short space of time to login with an invalid password (say 5 times in a 10 minute window). This locks out the user (i.e. sets the IsLockedOut flag of the aspnet_Membership table to 1). 2) user goes to the "forgot my password" screen to try to get a new password emailed to them. This screen uses the PasswordRecovery control. User enters their correct user id, but then cannot go further in the password recovery process, since the IsLockedOut flag is 1. (They don't even get to see their security question). 3) The user would then have to phone tech support to get themselves unlocked etc. To reduce the burden on support staff, we are trying to eliminate step 3) if possible, by making the PasswordRecovery control (if possible), work with locked out users. i.e. when they enter their login ID, the security question comes up, and IF they enter the correct answer, the system will unlock the user, then send the new email to them. I'm wondering if it is possible to tweak the PasswordRecovery control to do this. Or maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way ?

• Encryption puzzle / How to create a ProxyStub for a Remote Assistance ticket

  I am trying to create a ticket for Remote Assistance. Part of that requires creating a PassStub parameter. As of the documenation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc240115(PROT.10).aspx PassStub: The encrypted novice computer's password string. When the Remote Assistance Connection String is sent as a file over e-mail, to provide additional security, a password is used.<16 In part 16 they detail how to create as PassStub. In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, when a password is used, it is encrypted using PROV_RSA_FULL predefined Cryptographic provider with MD5 hashing and CALG_RC4, the RC4 stream encryption algorithm. As PassStub looks like this in the file: PassStub="LK#6Lh*gCmNDpj" If you want to generate one yourself run msra.exe in Vista or run the Remote Assistance tool in WinXP. The documentation says this stub is the result of the function CryptEncrypt with the key derived from the password and encrypted with the session id (Those are also in the ticket file). The problem is that CryptEncrypt produces a binary output way larger then the 15 byte PassStub. Also the PassStub isn't encoding in any way I've seen before. Some interesting things about the PassStub encoding. After doing statistical analysis the 3rd char is always a one of: !#$&()+-=@^. Only symbols seen everywhere are: *_ . Otherwise the valid characters are 0-9 a-z A-Z. There are a total of 75 valid characters and they are always 15 bytes. Running msra.exe with the same password always generates a different PassStub, indicating that it is not a direct hash but includes the rasessionid as they say. Some other ideas I've had is that it is not the direct result of CryptEncrypt, but a result of the rasessionid in the MD5 hash. In MS-RA (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc240013(PROT.10).aspx). The "PassStub Novice" is simply hex encoded, and looks to be the right length. The problem is I have no idea how to go from any hash to way the ProxyStub looks like.

• How come module-level validators are evaluated only after property-level validators?

  I'm using the module-level validator: 'PropertiesMustMatch' on my view-model, like so: [PropertiesMustMatch("Password", "PasswordConfirm")] public class HomeIndex { [Required] public string Name { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string PasswordConfirm { get; set; } } I'm noticing that if I submit the form without Name filled in, the ValidationSummary() helper returns only the following error: The Name field is required. However, if I fill in Name, then ValidationSummary() will return a PropertiesMustMatch error: 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. So it looks like the property-level validators are being evaluated first, then the model-level validators. I would much prefer if they were all validated at once, and ValidationSummary would return: The Name field is required. 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm studying the MVC 2 source-code to try to determine why this happens.

Okay so I got this : partial void OnCreated() { this.Id = Guid.NewGuid(); this.DateCreated = this.DateModified = DateTime.Now; this.Username = username; this.Password = password; this.Email = email; this.Birthday = birthday; this.Gender = gender; } However, this gives me two errors: Partial Methods must be declared private. Partial Methods must have empty method bodies. Alright I change it to Private Sub OnCreated() to remove both of those errors. However I am still stuck with...how can I pass it values as I would with a normal custom constructor? Also I am doing this in VB (converted it since I know most know/prefer C#), so would that have an affect on this?

Do I still need to be using mysql_real_escape_string()?

  I am trying to run an ANT script through a small Java program and I keep on encountering the following error: build: Exception in thread "main" build.xml:7: Problem: failed to create task or type eclipse.refreshLocal Cause: The name is undefined. Action: Check the spelling. Action: Check that any custom tasks/types have been declared. Action: Check that any <presetdef>/<macrodef> declarations have taken place. at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.getNotFoundException(UnknownElement.java:487) at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.makeObject(UnknownElement.java:419) at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.maybeConfigure(UnknownElement.java:163) I used to get this problem when I used to execute the build file manually. All I had to do to make Eclipse run this build was to go to Run External Tools External Tools Configuration JRE and select "Run in the same JRE as the workspace" and then attempt to execute. But I have no idea how to achieve the same effect through my code. Any suggestion would really be appreciated. Note that this has reference to a previous question that I asked over here

• How do I add the j2ee.jar to a Java2WSDL ant script programmatically?

  I am using IBM's Rational Application Developer. I have an ant script that contains the Java2WSDL task. When I run it via IBM, it gives compiler errors unless I include the j2ee.jar file in the classpath via the run tool (it does not pick up the jar files in the classpath in the script). However, I need to be able to call this script programmatically, and it is giving me this error: "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException" I'm not sure which jars need to be added or where? Since a simple echo script runs, I assume that it is the j2ee.jar or another ant jar that needs to be added. I've added it to the project's buildpath, but that doesn't help. (I also have ant.jar, wsanttasks.jar, all the ant jars from the plugin, tools.jar, remoteAnt.jar, and the swt - all which are included in the buildpath when you run the script by itself.)   I have a script for remotely executing commands on other machines, however... when using windows cmd.exe commands It does not write to the file on the remote server. Like: for attribute in kwargs.keys(): if attribute in User: user.__attribute__[attribute] = kwargs[attribute] else: raise Exception("blah") that way I could put this in its own function (unless one hopefully already exists?) So I wouldn't have to do the if ladder again and again, and so I could change the table structure without modifying this code. Any suggestions?

• Unable to connect SQL Server instance from Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0

  I am getting the below error from VS on an 32-bit XP Professional server even though I set Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to "SIDEKICK", which is the name of my computer. In other words SIDEKICK should default to the full SQLSERVER. In other words, I want VS to use SQLSERVER instead of SQLSERVER EXPRESS. And I can clearly see my database both from VS in the Server Explorer and also in SSMS 2008. Furthermore, I can view the tables of this database in Server Explorer from VS. I do not get any build errors. And it looks like all of the naming is consistent in my web.config file. I am developing my website according to a Microsoft tutorial, so I should not be getting an error.   I want to create a login dialog by inheriting QDialog. I put in subclass named LoginDialog 2 QLineEdits: for login for password. I want to be able to warn the user with a message if the caps lock is ON while he will start to fill passwordLineEdit. Suppose I have a function that tells the current state of CapsLock button. So I want to do eventFiltering in LoginDialog class in order to understand that user starts to fill the password field (i.e. user just stepped into the password field) So for that purpose I wrote the following in the LoginDialog class constructor: m_passwordLineEdit->installEventFilter(this); So the only thing is to do is to implement a function which can understand that user is going to fill the password. • Grails Deployment - Fastest way to get deployed?

  Hi All, If anyone has or is running a Grails application on their server I would appreciate some details on where to go after creating the WAR. Background I chose grails because with Google App Engine and the App Engine Plugin deployment should have been trivial. This issue is that there is a bug which makes any application pretty much unusable, I wish this had been more prominent so I didn't have to get to the point of seeing the error myself before I was aware of it. The next option was EC2 and the Cloud Tools plugin, it seems Cloud Tools worked with grails 1.0 but doesn't work with the current 1.2.1 due to issues getting the JAR dependencies. It also seems that Cloud Tools has been succeeded by Cloud Foundry which is in beta, will cost extra money and has limited places (I signed up but haven't got an e-mail). Question My application is painfully trivial, it has a small load, small data requirements and doesn't need to scale past 5 users. How can I deploy my grails app as quickly and painlessly as possible? Specifically: Are there any hosting companies that have tomcat installed on their servers out of the box that I can sign up to and use that will just work? Do you know of any simple tutorials for getting a grails application deployed to EC2 without Cloud Tools? Thanks in advance, Gav Side-note: I picked grails because of good advice from SO, it should have been a very short time from development to deployed product except the tools for auto-deployment aren't that mature and I've never configured a server before.

• MySQL - ERROR 1045 - Access denied

  In some way I have managed to get this error when I try to access into MySQL via the command line: [root@localhost ~]# mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I have tried resetting the password without any luck using this HowTo. I have uninstalled mysql completley and reinstalled but I still get asked for a password. I have no idea why this is the case! Can someone please help me get a default install of MySQL. Environment Fedora Core 10, Full Root Access, Apache and PHP installed Thank you for any help!! EDIT To all those that would like to save themselves a few hours of "blood coughing" - when you uninstall MySQl completely delete everything that is left behind. If you don't do this, it will never be a FRESH install.

  I have a web application that logs users in a @SessionScoped managed bean. It's all the basic stuff, pretty much like this: users logs in using regular http form and gets redirect to user area (wich is protected using a filter). But if any resource on that area is accessed, the request somehow uses a new session, wich has no managed bean, no user, and the filter does his job, redirecting him to login page. • Android ADB has moved and Eclipse is looking in the old place

  I did an SDK update last night and it moved adb.exe. In its place it left a file called "adb_has_moved.txt" saying The adb tool has moved to platform-tools/ If you don't see this directory in your SDK, launch the SDK and AVD Manager (execute the android tool) and install "Android SDK Platform-tools" Please also update your PATH environment variable to include the platform-tools/ directory, so you can execute adb from any location. So I did all that, including the PATH and now I can start adb.exe from any DOS prompt. But I still can't start it from Eclipse (Galileo 3.52). When I try it says Location of the Android SDK has not been set up in the preferences ... which is not true. The SDK IS set up in Preferences. The real problem is at the top of the Preferences window where it says "Could not find C:\SDK\android-sdk-windows\ tools \adb.exe!" ...No kidding - the update moved it to C:\SDK\android-sdk-windows\ platform-tools. Because it's specifying a specific (wrong) path Eclipse is bypassing the PATH variable. So how do I get Eclipse to look in the right place?
