Problem: Getting an error like: "Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program." The above error occurs while scanning for older version of Access files like prior to office 2000. • Silverlight 4 application on localhost runs extremely slow

  Silverlight 4 app running in IE8 and hosted on VS2010 internal webserver. The website takes atleast a minute to download the xap and code runs slow on client (IE8). I am running the app in debug mode and have turned intellitrace off. Symbol loading is also turned off. However if I kill the VS webserver, clean the solution, the app runs fast. 3 debugging sessions later, the app slows to a crawl. Have also tried turning off McAfee live scanning but no use. Looked in event log for any clue but found none. What could be the cause of the slowness? TIA rams

• C#/WPF FileSystemWatcher on every extension on every path

  I need FileSystemWatcher, that can observing same specific paths, and specific extensions. But the paths could by dozens, hundreds or maybe thousand (hope not :P), the same with extensions. The paths and ext are added by user. Creating hundreds of FileSystemWatcher it's not good idea, isn't it? So - how to do it? Is it possible to watch/observing every device (HDDs, SD flash, pendrives, etc.)? Will it be efficient? I don't think so... . Every changing Windows log file, scanning file by antyvirus program - it could realy slow down my program with SystemWatcher :(

  Hi All, Is there any RIM API available which will help to get the list of available network service or only Wi-Fi networks for a device and set selected network access point for any network communications? Is it possible programmatically to disable the Mobile networks like GPRS, WAP, etc? For Ex: When a application is started it should scan for WiFi connections (even if there are no previous WiFi network access points are set on device) and list the available WiFi connection. Then user will select the appropriate WiFi connection to connect for any network communication. Outside the application any internet communication (like browser or any other application) should done through same selected WiFi connection. The scanning for WiFi and setting the connection is almost similar to Blackberry WiFi Setup. If anyone know how to implement this using available RIM API and let me know its possible or not. Please share if anyone have any code snippet related to this. I am looking for OS v4.5, 4.7, and 5.0. Thanks, siddh.

  Hello SO; I have an issue with .Net reflection. The concept is fairly new to me and I'm exploring it with some test cases to see what works and what doesn't. I'm constructing an example wherein I populate a set of menus dynamically by scanning through my Types' attributes. Basically, I want to find every type in my main namespace that declares 'SomeAttribute' (doesn't matter what it is, it doesn't have any members at present). What I've done is: For Each itemtype As Type In Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes If itemtype.IsDefined(Type.GetType("SomeAttribute"), False) Then 'do something with the type End If Next This crashes the application on startup - the first type it identifies is MyApplication which is fairly obviously not what I want. Is there a right and proper way to look for all the 'real' 'sensible' types - i.e. classes that I've defined - within the current assembly?

I know that depends of many factors, like the kind of patterns You want to detect, or the rules of the game...but I wanted to know which are the most commonly used algorithms in that kind of problems... For example, games like columns, bejeweled, even tetris. I also want to know if detecting patterns by "brute force" ( like , scanning all the grid trying to find three adyacent cells of the same color ) is significantly worst that using particular algorithms in very small grids, like 4 X 4 for example ( and again, I know that depends of the kind of game and rules ...) • GDI+, using DrawImage to draw a transperancy mask of the source image

  Is it possible to draw a transperancy mask of an image (that is, paint all visible pixels with a constant color) using Graphics::DrawImage? I am not looking for manually scanning the image pixel-by-pixel and creating a seperate mask image, I wonder if it's possible to draw one directly from the original image. My guessing is that it should be done with certain manipulations to ImageAttributes, if possible at all. The color of the mask is arbitrary and should be accurate, and it would be a plus if there can be a threshold value for the transparency.

  Hi, Iam using PB 10.5.2 and EZTwain 3.30.0.28, XDefs 1.36b1 by Dosadi for scanning. Also Iam using the TOCR 3.0 for OCR management. In a function we use the following among all others : ... Long ll_acquire (as_path_filename is a function argument) ... ... TWAIN_SetAutoOCR(1) ll_acquire = TWAIN_AcquireMultipageFile(0, as_path_filename) the problem is that the scanned pdf page has latin (english) and greek words. The English characters are searched quite precisely but the greek don't at all. Do you think this that this has to do with the TOCR software. I just want to search AND for greek words Thanks in advance

  I have two modules, a host and a scanner. Both loop indefinitely to communicate with the serial ports. I want to import the variable "bestchannel" from scanner into host but by importing it, the while loop inside scanner runs first and loops forever. I want each module to run separately but be able to send each other data in real time. Is this possible?   I made patterns: images with the "A" letter of different sizes (from 12 to 72: 12, 14, .., 72) And I tested the method of pattern matching and it gave a good results. One way to select text regions from image is to run that algorithm for all small and big letters and digits of different sizes. And fonts! I don't like it. Instead of it I want to make something like a universal pattern or better to say: scanning image with different window sizes and select those regions where some function (probability of that there is a character at that window) is more than some fixed value. Do you know any methods or ideas to make that function? It must work with original image (grayscale).

  I have a function of type in_channel -> out_channel -> unit which will output something to an out_channel. Now I'd like to get its output as a string. Creating temporary files to write and read it back seems ugly, so how can I do that? Is there any other methods to create out_channel besides Pervasives.open_out family? Actually, this function implemented a repl. What I really need is to test it programmatically, so I'd like to first wrap it to a function of type string -> string. For creating the in_channel, it seems I can use Scanf.Scanning.from_string, but I don't know how to create the out_channel parameter.

• [C#] Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

  Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

• Is it possible to have a variadic function in C with no non-variadic parameter?

  I have the following function: void doStuff(int unusedParameter, ...) { va_list params; va_start(params, unusedParameter); /* ... */ va_end(params); } As part of a refactor, I'd like to remove the unused parameter without otherwise changing the implementation of the function. As far as I can tell, it's impossible to use va_start when you don't have a last non-variadic parameter to refer to. Is there any way around this? Background: It is in fact a C++ program, so I could use some operator-overloading magic as suggested here, but I was hoping not to have to change the interface at this point. The existing function does its work by requiring that the variable argument list be null-terminated, and scanning for the NULL, therefore it doesn't need a leading argument to tell it how many arguments it has.

  I work for an ISP and I have a server with thousands of users 10MB of free storage. They get this free storage with every e-mail account they have with us. An example of a users storage address: http://users.example.com/~username/ One problem I can see is scanning the server for user names to see what accounts are available, basically getting a list of all our customers valid e-mail addresses. This would be very, very bad. So I'm wanting to redirect to our homepage if someone comes across a users account that is empty (I'd say 90% of them are completely empty). I also do not want to simply -Indexes them and use a custom 403 because the few customers that do use them, want +Indexes. I know I can always just tell the customers to put a htaccess file in their directory with Options +indexes if they want directory listing, but that's a last resort. How can I make it pretty much impossible to tell what accounts are on the server but not in use at all?

  I’m taking a course in C and we have to make a program for the classic Postfix evaluation problem. Now, I’ve already completed this problem in java, so I know that we have to use a stack to push the numbers into, then pop them when we get an operator, I think I’m fine with all of that stuff. The problem I have been having is scanning the postfix expression in C. In java it was easier because you could use charAt and you could use the parseInt command. However, I’m not aware of any similar commands in C. So could anyone explain a method to read each value from a string in the form: 4 9 * 0 - = Where the equals is the signal of the end of the input. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance :)

  I'm writing a program that detects the speed of a object by hall effect sensors that are run into MATLAB through a DAQ (MCC USB-1408FS) The problem that has arisen is that I'm using a non-stop scan technique to detect the state of one of 3 sensors. Unfortunately this means that unless the object is rotating past each sensor at the exact rate the program runs, I will see an instantaneous speed (done by comparing the time between two sensors) of zero. I need the sensors to signal the program to count when they are hit, instead of constantly scanning for the signal. How can this be done?

  I'm using regex to parse NMAP output. I want the ip addresses which are up with the corresponding ports open. Now I've a very naive method of doing that: awk '/^Scanning .....................ports]/ {print substr ($2,1,15);}' results.txt awk '/^[0-9][0-9]/ {print substr($1,1,4);}' results.txt | awk -f awkcode.awk where awkcode.awk contains the code to extract numbers out of the substring. The first line prints all the ips that are up and 2nd gives me the ports. My problem is that I want them mapped to each other. Is there any way to do that? Even sed script would do.

To do this I am making the assumption that all file extensions must be within double quotes. I came up with the following, and it is working, however, I am failing to figure out a way to exclude the TLDs in the domains. This will return "com", "net", etc. m/"[^<>]+\.([0-9A-Za-z]*)"/g Is it possible to negate the match if there is more than one period between the quotes that are separated by text? (ie: match foo.bar.com but not ./ or ../) Edit I am using $1 to return the value within parentheses.
