  Hi! all I am designing an application for streaming video.I have developed a model in which a server wait for incoming request.The server it self is serving to a good number of clients and it can't afford to serve any more clients.Now when the new connection comes,the server chooses from among it's clients a candidate client who will serve the request of the incoming client.Now the thing is that this choice should be very intelligent.Now I am using various heuristic like bandwidth of the selected client,it's location,distance from the requesting client to come at a decision.Now my question is,IS THERE AVAILABLE ANY TOOL TO FIND OUT BANDWIDTH,LOCATION of a host,and DISTANCE(my be in hop number)?for hop number I can use traceroute but that will be too expensive as it take long time sending reply from every intermediate router.   I have several 'select' elements on the page. When I choose some of options, the ajax request is being sent to server and the element adjacent to this 'select' must be updated with response value.   For those unfamiliar with JNotify, this is a library which provides an easy way to monitor events in a directory. For instance, when a file gets deleted in the selected folder, the method "fileDeleted" gets called, along with a few parameters. Here's an example of the fileDeleted method: public void fileDeleted(int wd, String rootPath, String name) { print("deleted " + rootPath + " : " + name); } Now, I would like to know if the deleted file was a file or directory. My usual approach is to create a new File object with the given path, and use the methods isFile() and isDirectory() However, since this file is already deleted, these methods always return false. So here's my concrete question: I have the path to a deleted file or directory, how can I tell wether it was a file or a directory? Is there a workaround to this? What's the best practice to do here?   I get the error message 'Can't create deploy folder.' when I try to profile a remote websites on WAWS. Actions taken: Downloaded and installed the dotTrace Profiler 5.5 from the JetBrains website Downloaded the dotTrace.Performance.Remote version 5.5.0 from Nuget Published the website to WAWS via Visual Studio 2013 Started the dotTrace application as Administrator Connected to the remote _https://subdomain.azurwebsites.net/AgentService.asmx. • history.go(-1) function not refreshing server side controls

  hi, I am using a dropdown, a devexpress grid view and a button on my page. My gropdown contains the months in the format MM/YYYY, and on dropdown's selection change the data binds in the grid view. the functionality of button is to go on previous page as same as back button of browser. Now, my prob is that if i select any month and then select another month, the data changes. but now when i click on back button having onclick ="history.go(-1)", changes the data on the grid view but the month in the dropdown remains the same. For example: Suppose, first i have month selected as 02/2010 At this time the data in grid view is for exapmle 01234 now when i select month 03/2010 the data in grid changes to 56789 now when i click on back button, then data in grid changes to 01234 but the month in dropdown remains to 03/2010.   I have an app that works with tabs and webview. I already have it setup to refresh the page assigned to a tab each time the item on tabbar is selected. My problem now is that it takes some time to load the page and it's impossible to say if the page being displayed is the old or refreshed one. What I want to do is add a "loading" screen (a simple image) which will be displayed until the refreshed page is loaded. When I click on first navigation link it is showing the div, this is what I want, but when I click on another nav link it does show the next div as expected but I need for the previous div(s) to hide. any help is appreciated. something like: if this is not the nav link that was clicked hide. Specifically, I am looking for a comprehensive list of what events occur in the page and control life cycles and what is "available" in each event. Like when can I get a dropdownlists selected value, when can i databind, when can I get at values in view state and what not. • Page load fires twice on Firefox - PLEASE HELP !

  OK 1ST SOME BACKGROUND - I have a page showing the number of hits(or views) of any selected item. The hit counter procedure that is called at every page load i.e if (Request.QueryString.HasKeys()) { // get item id from icoming url e.g details.aspx?itemid=26 string itemid = Request.Params["itemid"]; if (!Page.IsPostBack) { countHit(itemid); } } THE PROBLEM - My expectation was that the counter would be increased by 1 on every page load but the counters on my datalist and formview are always behind and stepped by 2 i.e instead of 1, 2, 3, 4 its - 0, 2 , 4, 6 It seems that the page load is firing twice. Later I discovered that this only happens when you are using Mozilla Firefox. The page behaves fine with other browsers like IE This becoming quite frustrating. CAN ANY1 HELP :-(

• Getting info about a screen session from an external script

  I have a screen session. I'd like to be able to figure out what's running in it from an external script. I've gotten this far: ps --ppid $PID -o comm= That prints a list of all the child processes of the screen. What I haven't been able to figure out so far is: What window is selected/active in a screen session. If $PID is an attached screen it has no children. How do I find out what session it's attached to? I imagine the solution will involve some 'screen -X' voodoo, but I haven't figured out how to make that happen yet and google has been less than helpful.

• Previewing php pages inside Expression Web 3 suddently stopped working

  On a Windows 7 development machine, I have expression web 3, PHP 5 installed I have been using expression web and PHP for a while, and previewing php pages etc on pressing F12 (preview using local server). Suddenly on F12 all PHP pages display as blank, even a phpinfo() file. Standard html pages continue to work correctly on F12. If I place the same page php inside the default website on inetpub and browse using localhost then the phpinfo() file works. So I know that php is installed and configured correctly for IIS. Things I've checked: Gone into site settings in Expression web and confirmed that php is selected and it is pointing to the php executable Reinstalled php Checked iis that the php extension is registered. Copied files to a different machine with expression web and php installed and it works on. The strange thing is that it gives a blank (no errors) page inside expression web, but does work inside inetpub This was working up until recently, then suddenly stopped for no reason.

  I have the following set of controls. Scenario 1: If you select one of the first 3 radio buttons and click enter, focus will jump to the Passport Number text box. If the user selects "Other", the "Other, Please Specify" textbox is enabled and, for convenience, screen focus (the cursor is moved) to that textbox. Scenario 2: The "specify Other" text box is hidden until the user clicks on the Other Radio button. Upon doing so, the textbox is made visible and the cursor is placed in this textbox. Which scenario do you feel is a better approach? Perhaps you have another variation? Please state your reasoning. I would also appreciate it if you could make a generalized statement as to when hiding is better than disabling or vice versa, but I am also interested in this particular example. Thanks. Afetrthought: Perhaps, in the 2nd example, the "Please Specify" text would only appear after the user has selected the 'Other' radio button.

• Complex nib is slow to load

  I'm looking for advice about a nib that's very slow to load. It's big and complex, with lots of subviews and doodads. When I fire my UINavController to push it, it's noticeably laggy (maybe almost a second) on my 3G. It sits there with the table cell selected and nothing else happening for long enough to make you wonder if it's broken. I wonder about pre-loading it in another thread while the user is on the previous view. I could probably fire the selector in the background with a delay in the previous view's viewDidAppear, and then keep it in a property until push time comes. Thoughts?

• Querying my JPA provider (Hibernate) for a collection of <Id,Name> of an entity

  Hi, I have an entity which looks something like this: Id (PK) Name Other business properties and associations... I have the need for my DAL (JPA with hibernate as provider) to return a list of the entities which correlate to some constraints (or just return them all) but instead of returning the entities themselves I'd like to receive only the Id and the Name properties. I know this can be achieved with HQL/SQL (something like: select id,name from entity where...) but I don't want to go down that road. I was thinking of somehow defining the pair a compositioned part of the entity and thought that might help me but I'm not sure that's "legal" as the Id is the PK. The logic for this scenario is to have a textbox which asynchronously queries the web-service (and through it the DAL) for the relevant entities and once an entity is selected then it is loaded as a whole and shipped to the front-end. • Getting values from datagrid view column to list<>

  My main form in my application has a datagrid view that can have 1 to many user selected inputs. Column 8 of this grid is for the user to input "time in minutes." I have a separate class where I have built a timer that counts down from whatever time the user specifies down to 0. What I need is to create a series of alarms that go off as the timer counts down that are triggered by the user input values in column 8 of my datagrid. I think the best way to do this is to build a list< from the values in the datagrid. I for whatever reason can't quite figure out how to get the values from the datagrid in to a list< in my other class. Hopefully I explained in a way that makes sense.

  I have a bunch of buttons named: button1 button2 button3 etc. Is there a way to basically do this? pseudocode for(int i = 1, i < 15, i++) { button{i}.selected = YES; } This also goes for method calls, etc. I've often thought such a way of calling methods would be very convenient, but I don't think I've ever seen it done when using compiled languages. But I have done it using PHP. Is there any way to do this in Objective-C? (That's where my problem is now, but I'd also be interested in if you can do this in other languages.) Alternately, is there a reason why this is NOT a good way to go about accessing all the UI elements? Thanks!

  I have a model service and a ModelForm named Service which I use to add and update the service model. The model looks like this: class Service(models.Model): categories = models.ManyToManyField(Category) The categories field is displayed as a tag with that allows multiple selection. It works well when I'm adding a new record but when I'm updating it, only one service is showing up on the request.POST['categories'] even if I selected multiple categories. I tried dumping the request object and I can see that the categories is showing something like: u'categories': [u'3', u'4', u'2'] I tried calling the request._get_post() and it did return only 1 category, hence the request.POST['categories'] returns only 1. Anybody who knows what's happening and how to fix it?
