  • Hiding/Unhiding Control in Gridview’s column - shifting problem

    - by lupital
    This is a follow up to my previous question: link text In gridview's column i have a linkbutton and a label under it. I want to hide/unhide label when linkbutton is clicked. I use javascript because i don't want any postbacks. The code: protected void gvwComments_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { LinkButton lButton = ((LinkButton)e.Row.Cells[2].FindControl("lbtnExpand")); Label label = ((Label)e.Row.Cells[2].FindControl("lblBody")); lButton.Attributes.Add("onclick", string.Format("HideLabel('{0}'); return false;", label.ClientID)); } } function HideLabel(button) { var rowObj = document.getElementById(button); if (rowObj.style.display == "none") { rowObj.style.display = "block"; } else { rowObj.style.display = "none"; } } The problem is that when I unhide the label by clicking on button, linkbutton is shifted a a bit upper it's original position in the cell. Is it possible to preserve linkbutton's position in the gridviews cell?

  • How do I read and traverse inodes

    - by Eric Fossum
    I've opened the super-block and group descriptor in an EXT2 filesystem, but I don't know how to read for instance the root directory or files in it... Here's some of what i got fd=open("/dev/sdb2", O_RDONLY); lseek(fd, SuperSize, SEEK_SET); read(fd, &super_block, SuperSize); lseek(fd, 4096, SEEK_SET); read(fd, &groupDesc, DescriptSize); but this next part doesn't seem to work... lseek(fd, super_block.s_log_block_size*groupDesc.bg_inode_table, SEEK_SET); lseek(fd, InodeSize*(EXT2_ROOT_INO-1), SEEK_CUR); read(fd, &root, InodeSize);

  • Ruby on Rails with_option cannot call class method

    - by Dmitri
    I have a problem calling class method from the with_option block with validations: Model: class Model < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :field with_options :if => "<not important>" do |step| ... bunch of validations step.validates :field, :inclusion => {:within => Model.field} end private self.field (1..10) end end And it returns: undefined method `field' for #Class:0x5f394a8 self.class.field also doesn't work. What is wrong with it ? How to fix it ? Big big thanks!

  • what happens to running/blocked runnables when executorservice is shutdown()

    - by prmatta
    I posted a question about a thread pattern today, and almost everyone suggested that I look into the ExecutorService. While I was looking into the ExecutorService, I think I am missing something. What happens if the service has a running or blocked threads, and someone calls ExecutorService.shutdown(). What happens to threads that are running or blocked? Does the ExecutorService wait for those threads to complete before it terminates? The reason I ask this is because a long time ago when I used to dabble in Java, they deprecated Thread.stop(), and I remember the right way of stopping a thread was to use sempahores and extend Thread when necessary: public void run () { while (!this.exit) { try { block(); //do something } catch (InterruptedException ie) { } } } public void stop () { this.exit = true; if (this.thread != null) { this.thread.interrupt(); this.thread = null; } } How does ExecutorService handle running threads?

WHen I click it, nothing happens: $(".tablePlayButton").click(function(){ alert('hi'); });

  • How to prevent Debug.Assert(...) to show a modal dialog

    - by Martin
    I have a couple of libraries which use Debug.Assert(...). I think that the Debug.Assert(...) are fine and I still want them to execute, but I don't want them to block the execution of my application. Ideally, I would only like them to be logged somewhere. Given that I can't change the code of the libraries (and that I still want to compile in debug and run the assertion), how do I prevent Debug.Assert(...) to show a modal dialog? Thanks!

  • When a li is appended, does it not become a part of the ul "for real"?

    - by Noor
    I have right now this code: <ul><li class="listitem">text<li></ul> jQuery: $('.listitem').click(function() { $("#elname").text($(this).text()); $('#slists').css('visibility','hidden') $('#elname').css('visibility','visible') $('#elname').css('display','inline-block') }); This is supposed to hide a div and it does, but when I append items to the ul (with the class listitem) nothing happens with the appended item, the class it gets is correct, the title, and the value too. Can this have something to do with the code above being in the document ready function to do?

  • How to distinguish properties from constants if they both use PascalCasing for naming?

    - by Gishu
    As stated in the framework design guidelines and the WWW in general, the current guideline is to name your constants like this LastTemplateIndex as opposed to LAST_TEMPLATE_INDEX With the PascalCasing approach, how do you differentiate between a Property and a Constant. ErrorCodes.ServerDown is fine. But what about private constants within your class ? I use quite a lot of them for naming magic numbers.. or for expected values in my unit tests and so on. The ALL_CAPS style helps me know that it is a constant . _testApp.SelectTemplate(LAST_TEMPLATE_INDEX); *Disclosure: I have been using the SCREAMING_CAPS style for a while for constants + I find it more readable than squishedTogetherPascalCasedName. It actually STANDS_OUT in a block of text*

  • Can you explain what's going on in this Ruby code?

    - by samoz
    I'm trying to learn Ruby as well as Ruby on Rails right now. I'm following along with Learning Rails, 1st edition, but I'm having a hard time understanding some of the code. I generally do work in C, C++, or Java, so Ruby is a pretty big change for me. I'm currently stumped with the following block of code for a database migrator: def self.up create_table :entries do |t| t.string :name t.timestamps end end Where is the t variable coming from? What does it actually represent? Is it sort of like the 'i' in a for(i=0;i<5;i++) statement? Also, where is the :entries being defined at? (entries is the name of my controller, but how does this function know about that?)

  • Blackberry Development, java.lang.outofmemoryerror

    - by Nikesh Yadav
    Hi Forum, I am new to Blackberry development (I am using Eclipse with Blackberry plug-in), I am trying to read a text file, which I placed in the "src" folder of my Blackberry project and this text file just contain a word "Test". when I run the program, I gets "UncaughtException: java.lang.outofmemoryerror". Here is the code I am using, where "speech.txt" is the file I am trying to read and is placed in the "src" folder - public class SpeechMain extends MainScreen { public SpeechMain() { try { Class myClass = this.getClass(); InputStream is = null; is = myClass.getResourceAsStream("speech.txt"); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is); char c; while ((c = (char)isr.read()) != -1) { add(new LabelField("" + c)); } } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); add(new LabelField(e.getMessage())); } } } Thanks in advance. Thanks, Nikesh

  • Does a TransactionScope that exists only to select data require a call to Complete()

    - by fordareh
    In order to select data from part of an application that isn't affected by dirty data, I create a TransactionScope that specifies a ReadUncommitted IsolationLevel as per the suggestion from Hanselman here. My question is, do I still need to execute the oTS.Complete() call at the end of the using block even if this transaction scope was not built for the purpose of bridging object dependencies across 2 databases during an Insert, Update, or Delete? Ex: List<string> oStrings = null; using (SomeDataContext oCtxt = new SomeDataContext (sConnStr)) using (TransactionScope oTS = new TransactionScope(TransactionScopeOption.Required, new TransactionOptions { IsolationLevel = System.Transactions.IsolationLevel.ReadUncommitted })) { oStrings = oCtxt.EStrings.ToList(); oTS.Complete(); }

  • Which event handler to use to record leaving page - onunload or onbeforeunload?

    - by symcbean
    Hi all, Having not any answers to my previous questions about using javascript to measure page turn times, I'm going to start writing my own code (!). To measure the length of tie it takes, I'm proposing dropping a cookie containing a timestamp when the user browses away from a page, then in a subsequent page, comparing that time with 'now' and sending back a request to a URL which will log the interval. It seems that there are 2 possible handlers I could associate the first block of code with - the onunload() handler or the onbeforeunload()? It's more important that it fail silently on browsers with no/broken support for the handler, than it be portable across every possible browser. Any pointers? Gotchas? TIA C.

  • How do I handle TODO comments in VisualStudio 2010?

    - by Ivan
    I'd like Visual Studio to list all lines having "TODO: " in their beginning (usually after a comment sign which may vary depending on the file type) that can be found in any textual file in solution (may it be C#, VB, F#, T-SQL, ASPX, XAML or just TXT) in a special panel showing what's written in the line right to "TODO: ", project name (I use to contain many projects in one solution), file name, line number, code block name (like class and method) if possible. Do you know of such an extension or maybe VisualStudio has this feature built-in somewhere? For example NetBeans has a sort of out-of-the-box.

  • How can I create a simple message box in Python?

    - by Carson Myers
    I'm looking for the same effect as alert() in JavaScript. I wrote a simple web-based interpreter this afternoon using Twisted.web. You basically submit a block of Python code through a form, and the client comes and grabs it and executes it. I want to be able to make a simple popup message, without having to re-write a whole bunch of boilerplate wxPython or TkInter code every time (since the code gets submitted through a form and then disappears). I've tried tkMessageBox: import tkMessageBox tkMessageBox.showinfo(title="Greetings", message="Hello World!") but this opens another window in the background with a tk icon. I don't want this. I was looking for some simple wxPython code but it always required setting up a class and entering an app loop etc. Is there no simple, catch-free way of making a message box in Python?

  • Logs are filling up with httpclient.wire.content dumps. How can I turn it off?

    - by ?????
    My catalina logs are filling up with gobs of statements like: /logs/catalina.out:2010-05-05 02:57:19,611 [Thread-19] DEBUG httpclient.wire.content - >> "[0x4] [0xc][0xd9][0xf4][0xa2]MA[0xed][0xc2][0x93][0x1b][0x15][0xfe],[0xe]h[0xb0][0x1f][0xff][0xd6][0xfb] [0x8f]O[0xd4][0xc4]0[0xab][0x80][0xe8][0xe4][0xf2][\r]I&[0xaa][0xd2]BQ[0xdb](zq[0xcd]ac[0xa8] on and on forever. I searched every config file in both tomcat and apache for the statements that purportedly turn this on as described here: http://hc.apache.org/httpclient-3.x/logging.html And I don't see where this logging as been enabled. No other .war I deployed does this. The log4j configuration block in the app isn't doing it. Any ideas? I'm using an S3 library for grails that may be the source for these. However when I run this application on my development machine (in both develop and deploy configs), I'm not seeing it.

  • Is it a solvable problem to generate a regular expression that matches some input set?

    - by Roman
    I provide some input set which contains known separated number of text blocks. I want to make a program that automatically generate 1 or more regular expressions each of which matches every text block in the input set. I see some relatively easy ways to implement a brute-force search. But I'm not an expert in compilers theory. That's why I'm curious: 1) is this problem solvable? or there are some principle impossibility to make such algorithm? 2) is it possible to achieve polynomial complexity for this algorithm and avoid brute forcing?

  • Trying to create scrolling horizontal thumbnail navigation that hides on left side when not in use

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying recreate the following type of scrolling thumbnail navigation as described in the following tutorial: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2010/05/10/scrollable-thumbs-menu/ I require my thumbs to slide out horizontally from the left. I have amended the code to the best of my abilities, but I can't get it to work. (Think the problem is in the top third of the jquery). Here is what I have to date: HTML <ul class="menu" id="menu"> <li> <a href="#"></a> <div class="sc_menu_wrapper"> <div class="sc_menu"> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/1.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/2.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/3.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/4.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/5.jpg" alt=""/></a> </div> </div> </li> </ul> CSS /* Navigation Style */ ul.menu{ position: fixed; top: 0px; left:0px; width: 100%; } ul.menu li{ position:relative; width: 100% } ul.menu li > a{ position:absolute; top:300px; left:0px; width:40px; height:200px; background-color:#e7e7e8; } /* Thumb Scrolling Style */ div.sc_menu_wrapper { position: absolute; right: 0px; height: 220px; overflow: hidden; top: 300px; left:0px; visibility:hidden; } div.sc_menu { height: 200px; visibility:hidden; } .sc_menu a { display: block; background-color:#e7e7e8; } .sc_menu img { display: block; border: none; opacity:0.3; filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=30); } JQUERY $(function(){ // function to make the thumbs menu scrollable function buildThumbs($elem){ var $wrapper = $elem.next(); var $menu = $wrapper.find('.sc_menu'); var inactiveMargin = 220; // move the scroll down to the beggining (move as much as the height of the menu) $wrapper.scrollRight($menu.outerHeight()); //when moving the mouse up or down, the wrapper moves (scrolls) up or down $wrapper.bind('mousemove',function(e){ var wrapperWidth = $wrapper.width(); var menuWidth = $menu.outerWidth() + 2 * inactiveMargin; var top = (e.pageX - $wrapper.offset().right) * (menuWidth - wrapperWidth) / wrapperWidth - inactiveMargin; $wrapper.scrollRight(right+10); }); } var stacktime; $('#menu li > a').bind('mouseover',function () { var $this = $(this); buildThumbs($this); var pos = $this.next().find('a').size(); var f = function(){ if(pos==0) clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.next().find('a:nth-child('+pos+')').css('visibility','visible'); --pos; }; // each thumb will appear with a delay stacktime = setInterval(f , 50); }); /// on mouseleave of the whole <li> the scrollable area is hidden $('#menu li').bind('mouseleave',function () { var $this = $(this); clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.find('.sc_menu').css('visibility','hidden').find('a').css('visibility','hidden'); $this.find('.sc_menu_wrapper').css('visibility','hidden'); }); // when hovering a thumb, change its opacity $('.sc_menu a').hover( function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'1.0'},400); }, function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'0.3'},400); } ); }); Wondering if some eagle eye might be able to point out where I am going wrong. As my knowledge of JQuery is limited, I'm guessing it is in there. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to look this over. Thank you!

  • Using SHIFT_JIS text in PHP

    - by Joe Corkery
    I am building a form that needs to accept characters encoded in SHIFT_JIS and then send those results via email to a recipient. I've tried to simply capture the results from the $_POST variable and then to insert them into a block of text like this: $contents = <<<TEST Name: $NameJp ... TEST but that doesn't appear to work (which doesn't really surprise me). This is my first attempt at dealing with non-ASCII characters in PHP and I am hoping that people might have some suggestions. Perhaps I am missing a simple function to encode the text. Also, are there any other potential pitfalls that I might encounter? Thanks.

  • CSS Only Selecting Certain Classes

    - by Greg
    Hi I'm working with a Wordpress template. I have a separate template page for the blog section. On the other pages of the site I have class that works fine and looks like this .post header h2 { display:none; } On the blog page, I add this to the CSS and it works as it should #main .post header h2 { display:block; } However if I try that with other classes like #main .wrapper { background-color:#000000; } Nothing happens. I've tried adding !important, I've also tried writing like such body.page-id-15 #main .wrapper { background-color:#000000; } with no luck. Here is a link to the site. http://gregtregunno.ca/news

  • What's the best way to format long strings of HTML in PHP?

    - by dclowd9901
    I know it's really a subjective question, but for best-practices (and readability), I can't seem to get a fix on the best way to format long strings of HTML. I typically do it like this: echo ' <div> <p>Content Inside</p> <div class="subbox"> <ul> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> </ul> </div> </div> '; But I still don't like the outcome, especially if this appears in the middle of a large block of code. It just feels messy.

  • RSA implementations for Java, alternative to BC

    - by Tom Brito
    The RSA implementation that ships with Bouncy Castle only allows the encrypting of a single block of data. The RSA algorithm is not suited to streaming data and should not be used that way. In a situation like this you should encrypt the data using a randomly generated key and a symmetric cipher, after that you should encrypt the randomly generated key using RSA, and then send the encrypted data and the encrypted random key to the other end where they can reverse the process (ie. decrypt the random key using their RSA private key and then decrypt the data). I can't use the workarond of using symmetric key. So, are there other implementations of RSA than Bouncy Castle?
