• Static footer, with attached and scaling overlap

  I have been asked by a client to create a site where the content area overlaps the footer. However they also want the footer to be attached to the bottom of the viewport, which I've done, but it seems that I can't find a good way to vertically stretch the content to maintain the overlap should the browser be resized. I've created a diagram to help explain, http://www.squaresphere.co.uk/images/footer-diagram.png So ideally I need a way of calculating the height of the content and stretching the content div if content_length viewport.height, but keep a min-height if content_length < viewport.height A solution using html+css would be fantastic, but I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to do some funky jQuery onviewportresize or something Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks!

  I have read several posts regarding restricting ALL users to Key authentication ONLY, however I want to force only a single user (svn) onto Key auth only, the rest can be key or password. I read How to disable password authentication for every users except several, however it seems the "match user" part of sshd_config is part of openssh-5.1. I am running CentOS 5.6 and only have OpenSSH 4.3. I have the following repos available at the moment. $ yum repolist Loaded plugins: fastestmirror repo id repo name status base CentOS-5 - Base enabled: 3,535 epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 5 - x86_64 enabled: 6,510 extras CentOS-5 - Extras enabled: 299 ius IUS Community Packages for Enterprise Linux 5 - x86_64 enabled: 218 rpmforge RHEL 5 - RPMforge.net - dag enabled: 10,636 updates CentOS-5 - Updates enabled: 720 repolist: 21,918 I mainly use epel, rpmforge is used to the latest version (1.6) of subversion. Is there any way to achieve this with my current setup? I don't want to restrict the server to keys only because if I lose my key I lose my server ;-)

Would you (and why) hire a foreigner, which experience is documented in CV and portfolio, which can communicate in english (with grammar mistakes, but still)? • Odd SVN Checkout failures occur frequenctly on VMWare virtual machines

  We've recently been experiencing seemingly random SVN checkout failures on our Hudson build system. Google search has failed me; I'm hoping the super user community can help me out :-) We are occasionally receiving the following SVN error when our Hudson build jobs checkout source via the Hudson Subversion plug-in (which uses svn kit): ERROR: Failed to check out http://server/svnroot/trunk org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNException: svn: Processing REPORT request response failed: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity. (/svnroot/!svn/vcc/default) svn: REPORT request failed on '/svnroot/!svn/vcc/default' This issue seems to only occur when checking out from our Virtual Machines (Windows XP, Fedora 9, Fedora 12) using Hudson's SVN Plug-in. Systems that use the traditional SVN client seem to work. SVN Server version: 1.6.6 Hudson version: 1.377 Hudson SVN Plugin Version: 1.17 Has anyone dealt with this issue, or have any suggestions? I can't seem to find a defenitive yes / no answers so I thought I'd ask the ServerFault community this simple question: Does XenServer (in any version) support Storage migration such as VMWare's Storage VMotion capability, or Hyper-V's storage migration ? • Full coordinates across streets with google maps

  If you go here: http://econym.org.uk/gmap/snap.htm there are some examples of the kind of stuff I'm trying to do. I want the user to enter a route on a google maps widget, and then have the map drawl the route along roads. Then the user click on a "submit" button, and their route is sent back to the server where it will be stored in a database. Instead of sending back just the red vertices, I want to send back all the information that makes up the purple lines. Is this possible?

• Change Block Tracking settings not retained for a VM on VMWare 5.5

  I'm trying to enable Change Block Tracking as per this VMWare KB article but the setting ctkEnabled is not being retained in the advanced options or being added to the vmx file. The setting scsi0:0.ctkEnabled is being retained and I see a file vmname-ctk.vmdk in the datastore. I've verified that the vm doesn't have any snapshots but don't see any other suggestions in the KB (or google, of course.) Edit: The last comment on this community post. It's a slightly different circumstance, but suggests that there is an known bug editing these settings in the web-gui.

• CaptureCameraDialog returns OK but does not save (Motorola ES400)

  Ok it seems like everyone in the world has issues with CaptureCameraDialog. In my case the result is OK, but when taking the photo there is a MessageBox that says "Error" that appears and disappears in the blink of an eye, then returns to my app (so I don't have time to actually read the error). It has not saved the file. It does not throw an error to my application. There is also another issue which is exactly the same as the issue talked about here (yet none of the fixes work for me). http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-4025602.php Does anyone know how to get the "error message" that the dialogue box displays for an instant?

• How do I setup a syslog server for my network?

  I would like to setup a syslog server to forward all log file from all of my VMs and servers. I really don't much about what is out there. So I turn to the community, Something on Linux is fine, what I want more is alert ability like emails telling me something is not right. If there was something to sort the logs by source that would be cool. Where would I want run the syslog server from? My admin WS or a server/VM? Any input would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

• What to do with old hard drives?

  I have over 100+ old hard drives, ranging from 100MB Quantums to 200GB WDs, most of them PATA, some SATA. Most still working. The squirrel mentality runs in my family - hoard everything, discard nothing. Thus, and this is a relevant question - any suggestions on how to put these drives to use (anything) instead of them just being deadweights and space takers around the office? Hopeful objectives and suggestions to keep in mind when you post an answer : Should showcase your geekiness, or plain fun, or serve a social purpose, or benefit the community. You do not need to limit your answer to only one hard drive - if your project needs all 100++, bring it on! Your answer need not be limited to one project per hard drive - if one hard drive can be used for multiple projects, bring it on! If additional accessories need be purchased, make sure they are common. Don't tell me to get a moon rock or something. The projects you suggested should serve a utility, and not just for decoration purposes.

• Redirecting Subdomain with Volusion and GoDaddy

  I need to create a subdomain (reviews.basequipment.com) and have it re-direct to our Reviews page at http://www.resellerratings.com/store/survey/Burkett_Restaurant_Equipment_Supplies. The genius's at Volusion have never gotten this to work correctly and I have been asking them for years now (yes years). Our nameservers are on Volusion and we are hosted through GoDaddy. Volusion tells me to use their "CPanel" to update DNS Records to this: reviews | CNAME | www.resellerratings.com This doesn't even work when going to reviews.basequipment.com and of course does not do the full job as I want to go to http://www.resellerratings.com/store/survey/Burkett_Restaurant_Equipment_Supplies So I have then tried doing a Forward Subdomain in GoDaddy. Added subdomain "reviews" and forward to the link I mentioned above, with no avail (im assuming because my nameservers reside on Volusion). Has anyone had experience doing this, or does anyone know of any suggestions? Volusion is pretty limited with this and as I've said, I have been trying this for years and I've finally decided to consult the community here at stackflow. Thanks in advance.

• Finding cities close to one another using longitude and latitude

  Each user in my db is associated to a city (with it's longitude and latitude) How would I go about finding out which cities are close to one another? i.e. in England, Cambridge is fairly close to London. So If I have a user who lives in Cambridge. Users close to them would be users living in close surrounding cities, such as London, Hertford etc. Any ideas how I could go about this? And also, how would I define what is close? i.e. in the UK close would be much closer than if it were in the US as the US is far more spread out. Ideas and suggestions. Also, do you know any services that provide this sort of functionality? Thanks

• Stop sign icon in VS2005 Express solution explorer

  What does a small stop sign icon on a file in solution explorer mean? Someone asked the same question a year ago Original Question but the answer provided is of no help. The icon looks like this: Suffice to say that the sign is not one presented in the VS documentation and is a UK Stop sign (red circle with a white horizontal bar) not a US one. The project is WebKit and the build process cannot find AuthenticationCF.h even though the file is present. I presume the sign might shed some light on this. Thanks, Andy

  Of the major Unix shells (bash, ksh, tcsh, zsh, others?), are there any compelling reasons to use one over another? Which is the most interactive/command-line friendly? Which is the most conducive/intuitive for writing scripts? Are there any major built-in features that one shell offers that others don't? Are any of these shells really good for one type of function, but not another? Or are they all pretty well-rounded/flexible? Is it just a matter of personal preference? I can make this community wiki if anyone prefers.

• snmptrap and snmptt - authcommunity not found

  I am trying to configure snmptt to translate the snmp traps received and handle them as passive checks in icinga monitoring server as described here . after doing the changes to the snmptrapd.conf . I am trying to restart the service and I see authcommunity : command not found, traphandle : command not found . my understanding is the authcommunity and traphandle are just configuration directives which will tell snmptrapd about the community string to use and the traphandle script to be called. It would be helpful if someone can help me understand better. Thanks, sabs

• Problem downloading Android SDK?

  So I'm trying to download the Android SDK for Windows from their website but it isn't working. The download seems to proceed without a hitch but something is wrong because the downloaded .zip is only 2-3 MB (size varies), MD5 doesn't match and the file won't open or extract. Obviously the download is corrupt but I have no idea why. A quick google didn't turn up anyone else with this problem to indicate that it might be on the server side. My connection is rock solid and I've never had issues with it so I'm not sure what it could be on my end. I tried downloading the linux version as well and tried using the alternate link, both to no avail. Having recently discovered this amazing community I thought I'd ask here. Any ideas?

• snort-mysql not starting on Ubuntu server

  I am following this tutorial: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SnortIDS I've set up the database, everything has installed correctly, and I've configured the snort.conf file so it outputs to a database (with creds all filled out ok). When I run /etc/init.d/snort start, it fails but does not produce any error message other than [fail]. The last few lines of /var/log/syslog are: snort[5687]: database: must enter database name in configuration file#012 snort[5687]: FATAL ERROR: My output database line in the snort.conf file is: output database: log, mysql, user=snort password=... dbname=snort host=localhost I have tried it with the commas separating everything, putting quotes around stuff, etc. The password is only made up of letters (after I thought maybe a number was throwing it off).

• When XP is asleep for a long time LAN reports code 43, gives up the ghost.

  This one's got me stumped. Whenever the system is asleep for a long time, e.g overnight, the LAN driver reports error code 43 ("a problem") and turns itself off. This has being going on for months, but I never caught the problem until now. The owner merely shuttles back to a restore point I set her when the machine worked. Previously (without knowing exactly what was happening) I have tried everything to resolve this. Manually resetting the TCP/IP, fiddling with the driver Wake From LAN settings, DIFFERENT drivers, etc. etc. The solution is easy, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Understandably, though, the user is uncomfortable with this operation and the problem persists. What's causing it and how to stop it recurring? Any ideas? Thanks in advance to this great community. • ASA 5540 v8.4(3) vpn to ASA 5505 v8.2(5), tunnel up but I cant ping from 5505 to IP on other side

  I am having problems pinging from a 5505(remote) to IP 10.160.70.10 in the network behind the 5540(HQ side). 5505 inside IP: 10.56.0.1 Out: 71.43.109.226 5540 Inside: 10.1.0.8 out: 64.129.214.27 I Can ping from 5540 to 5505 inside 10.56.0.1. I also ran ASDM packet tracer in both directions, it is ok from 5540 to 5505, but drops the packet from 5505 to 5540. It gets through the ACL and dies at the NAT.   Hey, I am working on an iPhone Web App using HTML & CSS. I have currently got the JavaScript/HTML5 Geolocation picking up my current location and showing me it on a Google Map using Lat & Long values. I also want to add these Lat & Long Values into the 'address' text field on the page so I can submit the details. • Conflicts between 2 NICs

  Hi, I have an HP server (Windows server 2003) with 2 external NICs (couldn't get the builtin NIC to work). One is for an internal network of 4 PCs and the other is for part of an Internet-facing network. Many times a day, we have to disable the internal NIC in order to get the other NIC to see the network. I know this is happening on a server, but the issue is more related to the conflicts on the NICs. Any suggestions from the community on where to look for a solution?
