  • Highlight table view cells when user drags across rows

    I have a grouped table view that does not need to scroll. I'd like each cell to highlight as the user moves their finger down the screen and call didSelectRowAtIndexPath on release. This behaviour can be seen done by apple in 'settings mail add account'? I can't seem to replicate it myself, all I can get is the default, where the cell deselects as soon as the user moves their finger.

  • How to define a current user?

    Is it possible to define a current user? I found a stored procedure 'sp_mgGetConnectedUsers'. It returns a result set with the only unique field 'Address'. How could I associate an executing query with such 'Address'. Please advice. Note: As far as I understand, another way to get the current user is to set a unique application Id for each connection, but I don't like this way much.

  • User control disapear when added to a Panel

    I've got a user control class that works fine, drawing, events firing and the works. When i programmaticly add it to a class that extends from Panel it disapears. I've checked around and the line that makes it disapear is the line where i go panel.Controls.Add(myuserControl). Without that line the control works just fine, does anybody know why it won't show after the add? I'm currently doing the painting of the user control by overriding OnPaint, but the panel is using the default painting.

I use the command: $user_id = $facebook-require_login(); To get the userid, but at the first few pages of my app I don't want to require login, but if the user's logged in, I'd like to know what the userid is. Basically I need a "get_login()" command that perhaps returns 0 or null if the user is not logged in. Is there anything like that?

    Is there some way to acces the user object from a custom routing class? I'd like to add a parameter when generating a url, and that parameter is inside the user session, so I need to access it. The only way I found to access is using the sfContext::getInstance()-getUser(), but it's known to be inefficient. Thanks!

  • Sync Your Pidgin Profile Across Multiple PCs with Dropbox

    Pidgin is definitely our favorite universal chat client, but adding all of your chat accounts to multiple computers can be frustrating.  Here’s how you can easily transfer your Pidgin settings to other computers and keep them in sync using Dropbox. Getting Started Make sure you have both Pidgin and Dropbox installed on any computers you want to sync.  To sync Pidgin, you need to: Move your Pidgin profile folder on your first computer to Dropbox Create a symbolic link from the new folder in Dropbox to your old profile location Delete the default pidgin profile on your other computer, and create a symbolic link from your Dropbox Pidgin profile to the default Pidgin profile location This sounds difficult, but it’s actually easy if you follow these steps.  Here we already had all of our accounts setup in Pidgin in Windows 7, and then synced this profile with an Ubuntu and a XP computer with fresh Pidgin installs.  Our instructions for each OS are based on this, but just swap the sync order if your main Pidgin install is in XP or Ubuntu. Please Note:  Please make sure Pidgin isn’t running on your computer while you are making the changes! Sync Your Pidgin Profile from Windows 7 Here is Pidgin with our accounts already setup.  Our Pidgin profile has a Gtalk, MSN Messenger, and Facebook Chat account, and lots of log files. Let’s move this profile to Dropbox to keep it synced.  Exit Pidgin, and then enter %appdata% in the address bar in Explorer or press Win+R and enter %appdata%.  Select the .purple folder, which is your Pidgin profiles and settings folder, and press Ctrl+X to cut it. Browse to your Dropbox folder, and press Ctrl+V to paste the .purple folder there. Now we need to create the symbolic link.  Enter  “command” in your Start menu search, right-click on the Command Prompt shortcut, and select “Run as administrator”. We can now use the mklink command to create a symbolic link to the .purple folder.  In Command Prompt, enter the following and substitute username for your own username. mklink /D “C:\Users\username\Documents\My Dropbox\.purple” “C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\.purple” And that’s it!  You can open Pidgin now to make sure it still works as before, with your files being synced with Dropbox. Please Note:  These instructions work the same for Windows Vista.  Also, if you are syncing settings from another computer to Windows 7, then delete the .purple folder instead of cutting and pasting it, and reverse the order of the file paths when creating the symbolic link. Add your Pidgin Profile to Ubuntu Our Ubuntu computer had a clean install of Pidgin, so we didn’t need any of the information in its settings.  If you’ve run Pidgin, even without creating an account, you will need to first remove its settings folder.  Open your home folder, and click View, and then “Show Hidden Files” to see your settings folders. Select the .purple folder, and delete it. Now, to create the symbolic link, open Terminal and enter the following, substituting username for your username: ln –s /home/username/Dropbox/.purple /home/username/ Open Pidgin, and you will see all of your accounts that were on your other computer.  No usernames or passwords needed; everything is setup and ready to go.  Even your status is synced; we had our status set to Away in Windows 7, and it automatically came up the same in Ubuntu. Please Note: If your primary Pidgin account is in Ubuntu, then cut your .purple folder and paste it into your Dropbox folder instead.  Then, when creating the symbolic link, reverse the order of the folder paths. Add your Pidgin Profile to Windows XP In XP we also had a clean install of Pidgin.  If you’ve run Pidgin, even without creating an account, you will need to first remove its settings folder.  Click Start, the Run, and enter %appdata%. Delete your .purple folder. XP does not include a way to create a symbolic link, so we will use the free Junction tool from Sysinternals.  Download Junction (link below) and unzip the folder. Open Command Prompt (click Start, select All Programs, then Accessories, and select Command Prompt), and enter cd followed by the path of the folder where you saved Junction.   Now, to create the symbolic link, enter the following in Command Prompt, substituting username with your username. junction –d “C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\.purple” “C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Dropbox\.purple” Open Pidgin, and you will see all of your settings just as they were on your other computer.  Everything’s ready to go.   Please Note: If your primary Pidgin account is in Windows XP, then cut your .purple folder and paste it into your Dropbox folder instead.  Then, when creating the symbolic link, reverse the order of the folder paths. Conclusion This is a great way to keep all of your chat and IM accounts available from all of your computers.  You can easily access logs from chats you had on your desktop from your laptop, or if you add a chat account on your work computer you can use it seamlessly from your home computer that evening.  Now Pidgin is the universal chat client that is always ready whenever and wherever you need it!   • Linux Virtualization Options on EC2

    I need to subdivide EC2 (or perhaps other cloud provider) instances. I know you cannot run a full virtualization stack on another. For instance a Xen guest cannot host a VirtualBox guest. So this means I am left with operating system-level virtualization. EC2 kernels are only publishable by select vendors, so you cannot upload the custom kernels required for OpenVZ or Vserver. For Linux, I think this leaves me with lxc (on Ubuntu 9.10), User Mode Linux, or qemu. I'm having a hard time finding comparisons between them. Performance is a concern, as is the ability to provide SMP to the guests. I would also like to use COW/sparse roots to reduce guest provisioning. My question is, what are the trade-offs between these options?

  • Windows 2008 Group Policy Setting? - Migration Headache

    I have a small domain of users that I just migrated from a linux domain running open-ldap. Our new servers are running Windows 2008 Standard. I've installed Active Directory and everything is working perfectly... except that the initial user privileges is pretty restrictive and I need to loosen it up a bit. For example once they login to their workstations, they can create new files and folders but can not modify existing files or start. I basically want to open it all up except for software installations. Can someone please help with with this migration headache?

    I have a mercurial repository on a secure server, to which I want to grant secure access to an external user. I added for him a user account and publickey ssh authentication so that now he could push/pull changesets via ssh. My question is: how can I make this new user account completely disabled from doing anything or accessing any data on the server other than accessing the repository? E.g. he shouldn't even have the possibility to enter an interactive shell session. Thanks

    In an ASP.NET 2.0 Application, an ActiveX control is used. When user first time access the appliction and he/she did not have that ActiveX registered. Application show a popup to install ActiveX. When user follow the process, ActiveX is registered and application loads the ActiveX to accomplish desired tasks. In Windows Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, User Access Control (UAC) is prompted to allow to install the ActiveX at very first time. This happens even if user is Administrator too. What are alternatives to override this UAC component while installing ActiveX ? Suggestions are appreciated.

  • Moving symlinks into a folder based on id3 tags.

    I'm trying to get my music folder into something sensible. Right now, I have all my music stored in /home/foo so I have all of the albums soft linked to ~/music. I want the structure to be ~/music/<artist>/<album> I've got all of the symlinks into ~/music right now so I just need to get the symlinks into the proper structure. I'm trying to do this by delving into the symlinked album, getting the artist name with id3info. I can do this, but I can't seem to get it to work correctly. for i in $( find -L $i -name "*.mp3" -printf "%h\n") do echo "$i" #testing purposes #find its artist #the stuff after read file just cuts up id3info to get just the artist name #$artist = find -L $i -name "*.mp3" | read file; id3info $file | grep TPE | sed "s|.*: \(.*\)|\1|"|head -n1 #move it to correct artist folder #mv "$i" "$artist" done Now, it does find the correct folder, but every time there is a space in the dir name it makes it a newline. Here's a sample of what I'm trying to do $ ls DJ Exortius/ The Trance Mix 3 Wanderlust - DJ Exortius [TRANCE DEEP VOCAL TECH]@ I'm trying to mv The Trance Mix 3 Wanderlust - DJ Exortius [TRANCE DEEP VOCAL TECH]@ into the real directory DJ Exortius. DJ Exortius already exists, so it's just a matter of moving it into the correct directory that's based on the id3 tag of the mp3 inside. Thanks! PS: I've tried easytag, but when I restructure the album, it moves it from /home/foo which is not what I want.

  • what does "Net user administrator /active:yes" do to a computer?

    i just purchased a new laptop and had some issues with it... I called tech support and they had me run this command in cmd prompt by right clicking the cmd icon and selecting "run as administrator" with root C:\windows\system32: "Net user administrator /active:no" after it was determined that it didn't fix the issue we ran this code "Net user administrator /active:yes" i then rebooted..and was asked for my windows login for my user account "Rees" as usual.. however ALL my settings where gone (including my desktop files) as though it was the first time I booted up. WHAT in the world happened with this command?? I desperately NEED my user accounts and files back to how they were!! (running windows 7) Please help!

  • None of my bash commands work

    I have an Ubuntu 9.10 netbook. I has always run great. Two days ago, I was running as root for a while (~30), and when I moved back to my user account (only other account one this machine), all the commands in ~/bin stopped working. If I try ls, it comes up with "cannot execute binary file". Same with ln, mv, mkdir, clear, cp, etc. They all run as root(which makes sense, different files), but I have no idea why this happened. I don't want to stay as root to move around easily. Any idea?

  • Give apache write access to DocumentRoot on dev server

    I've got apache running on my mac workstation (OS X 10.7, with the pre-installed copy of apache), and our web applications require write access to certain sections of the filesystem to run (usually just a tmp dir, but sometimes more than that). We have (literally) thousands of clients, and I want to be able to quickly grab a copy of any website's code, and have it "just work", however I always need to manually modify the unix permissions of specific directories after pulling a client's website out of source control (the list of directories varies from one client to another, as it has changed over the years). Since it's a dev server, firewalled off from the general internet, I would like to give apache/php write access to the entire DocumentRoot. How can I do this? I tried chmod 777 on the DocumentRoot, but if I create a directory inside it, the permissions are still 755 (owner: me, group: wheel). I think there should be a way to force all files created inside DocumentRoot to be 777 or perhaps 775, with the _www user added to the wheel group?
