    You can publish the properties of an control that is inside a activex form? example I have a form with an TAdoconnection component, I wish the properties of this component can be modified by the user when he loads my activex control. UPDATE @TOndrej gives me a very nice sample, but this sample only works for components derived from an activex control, how can accomplish this same efffect with an VCL component like an Timage or TMemo? is possible publish all the properties without rewrite each property to expose manually?

    I created a ActiveX control using ATL, already package it with signature. I want to use it on the webpage, but at the install window the name is MyActiveX.cab with no link. the MyActiveX.cab name can be changed by modifying the html page's tag codebase attribute. but the name is still format like "XXX.cab" with no hyperlink. I find a activex control from chinese website has its own name and link: and its object tags are nothing different: <object ID="CMBPB_OCX" CODEBASE="http://szdl.cmbchina.com/download/PB/pb50.cab#version=5,3,1,1" classid="clsid:F2EB8999-766E-4BF6-AAAD-188D398C0D0B" width="0" height="0"> </object> the pic was taken from MSDN Pages, it has link.   • Using an ActiveX control without a form/dialog/window in C++, VS 2008

    an ActiveX control generated by Visual Basic 6, very old stuff, it has a couple of methods and one event. now I have to use the control in C++, visual studio 2008, but I don't like to generate a form/dialog/window as constainer. I add some MFC class From ActiveX Control. Now the wrap class has all the methods defined in the ActiveX control. I definitely need add event handler to take care of the event fired by ActiveX control. With a form/dialgue/window, it could be done by below BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP ON_EVENT. My questions are 1. how to add the event handler without a form/dialgue/window. Is this impossible? 2. Could I manually add constructor in the ActiveX control wrap class, so I could use new operator to get an instance on the heap?   • High CPU usage by 'svchost.exe' and 'coreServiceShell.exe'

    I am having a laptop running on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Since past few days, my laptop is facing a serious problem. Whenever I connect to Internet, either svchost.exe or coreServiceShell.exe or both hog the CPU. The coreServiceShell.exe consumes a lot of RAM also. Going into the details, I found that high CPU usage of svchost.exe is caused by Network Location Awareness service. And the high CPU usage of coreServiceShell.exe is caused by Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2012. That kind'a makes me think that Trend Micro may be the root of the problem. After further testing, I found that if I use IE or Firefox to browse the Internet, immediately after connecting to Internet, things are normal. See and But if I use Google Chrome, the coreServiceShell.exe hogs both CPU and RAM. At this point, if I disconnect the Internet, the CPU and RAM usage by coreServiceShell.exe continues to be high till I close the Chrome. Also, when I close the Chrome, while Internet is connected, svchost.exe continues to hog CPU but coreServiceShell.exe leaves the race. That makes think that Chrome is the root of the problem, but again, tracing coreServiceShell.exe takes me back to Trend Micro Internet Security. Stopping the Protection by the Trend Micro Internet Security doesn't help either (I am not able to stop its services though). I have updated the Chrome, but no help. I just can't figure out who is the culprit. I can't do without the Google Chrome (of course, by not using it) because of its immensely useful and indispensable features both during browsing and development. Secondly, I can't uninstall the Trend Micro Internet security Suite since it still has few months before it expires and is proving me reliable protection. What could be the cause of the problem and what can I do to resolve this? Thanks in advance

    Hi. I have 2 IBM servers Intel Xeon Dual core with 2gb RAM. the problem is that Taskmanager uses one full core when i open it. The same happens when i copy files in the explorer. OS: Windows 2003 Server Things i tried: Installed all updates They has kaspersky anti virus and they previously had Nod32. All drivers installed OK. All unused devices are disabled in the bios. Reinstalled win 2003 SP2. No conflict in drivers Tried opening via remote desktop and the problem continues.   • How to share session cookies between Internet Explorer and an ActiveX components hosted in a webpage

    I am currently working on a .Net application which makes HTTP requests to some web applications hosted on a IIS server. The application is deployed through ClickOnce and is working fine on simple networks architectures. One of our customers has a very complex network involving a custom authentication server on which the user has first to log himself in order to be authenticated and get access to other applications on this network. Once authenticated on this server, a session cookie is created and sent to the user. Every time the user then makes a request on a secured server of the network, this cookie is checked to grant access to the user. If this cookie is not sent with the request, the user is redirected to the login page. The only browser used is Internet Explorer. This cookie cannot be accessed from our .net application since it is executed in another process than the Internet Explorer process which was used to log the user in, and thus is not sent with our requests, which cannot be completed since the server redirects every of our requests to the login page. I had a look at embedding my application into Internet Explorer by making the main control COM visible and creating it on an HTML page with an tag. It is working properly, however the sessions cookies set earlier in the browser are not sent when the ActiveX control makes web requests. I was hoping this sharing of the session information would be automatic (although I didn't really believe it). So my questions are : Is it possible to have access to this cookie in the embedded ActiveX? How? Does it make a difference to use a .Net COM-interop component instead of a "true" ActiveX control? Also, are there specific security words to describe this kind of behaviors (given that I am not an expert at all on security topics, this lack of proper terminology makes it a lot harder to find the needed resources)? My goal is to have my application's requests look the same from the requests made by the host browser's requests, and I thought that embedding the application as an ActiveX control into the browser was the only way to achieve this, however any suggestion on another to do this is welcome.

  • Key strokes in wpf window hosted in MFC ActiveX running in Internet Explorer

    We have an MFC ActiveX control created in Visual Studio 2008 with CLR support which creates a WPF grid and shows a WPF window within that grid. This ActiveX is hosted within Internet Explorer and it shows up and works nicely except that the tab key, backspace, function keys etc. does not work since they are handeled by IE instead of the WPF window. Regular characters works nicely. This is a known feature and previously when we used to have MFC based dialogs within this ActiveX we used this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/187988. By just using this code directly the AfxGetApp()->PreTranslateMessage((LPMSG)lParam) statement will return FALSE, so I'm not able to get the key stroke to be handled by the WPF window. I beleive I need to ask the WPF application this instead of the CWinApp, but I'm not sure how and if this can be done. Does anyone have enough understanding of what's going on here to get this to work? Using XBAP instead of ActiveX is not an option as this is run in an intranet application which needs more access than the sandbox can give us. I hope this is enough information.   • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

    Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware?   • Load ActiveX DLL in Internet Explorer with elevated privileges

    I have an ActiveX control that I'm loading with JavaScript in Internet Explorer. It needs to run as medium integrity under UAC in Vista and Win7. This is written in C/C++, compiled in Visual Studio. One way to elevate privileges is to create a broker process that can request a medium integrity level. However, for this project, this is not a practical solution. I really need the ActiveX control itself to run elevated. My question is: what's the easiest way to do this? Can I change the build options on the project to be an exe, and use the COM interprocess connect system to automatically handle the communications, or do I need to be more sophisticated? Do I need to do anything complicated like manually call CreateProcess and make some kind of broker, or can it just work as an ActiveX exe that elevates itself?

  • Good freeware COM/ActiveX Type Library Explorer?

    I used to have a dated, but valuable solution to display COM/ActiveX control- and type-library contents (ProgIDs, method names and signatures, enumerations, constants, interfaces/coclasses, etc.) of all such libraries registered on my system. It provided an Explorer-like overview of everything that was available to ActiveX development/scripting and served as an automatic API documentation tool since official docs for most COM/ActiveX libraries are either missing completely or fragmentary at best. My recent move to a 64bit Windows rendered the program I had unusable, due to internal dependencies on the 32bit VB6 runtime (comctl32.ocx) that is no longer supported on 64bit Windows. Does anyone know an alternative that still works?

    C#, visual studio 2005 I have several 3rd party activeX control. I need to use them in my .net windows application. These controls are graphical. I created a wrapper with aximp.exe for them. But it seems that something wrong. When I call some methods of wrapped activeX control == targetinvocativeexception occured. Or visual studio writes "you are attempting to write or read protected memory". I know that something wrong. But what is exactly wrong - i don't know. I find out about method CreateControl() or STAthread attribute. but it doesn't help me. What is the common problem and common solution for my type of problem ? These activex control from big and trusted company, other developers work with them.

    I have a legacy delphi program and want to add some content implemented with WPF. So I encapsulate the WPF control with a .NET/ActiveX interop technology. That means something like: [ComRegisterFunction()] public static void RegisterClass(string key); [ComUnregisterFunction()] public static void UnregisterClass(string key); The activeX component is a WinForms User Control and the WPF materials are attached to an ElemenHost in this User Control. It works fine if the host app of this ActiveX is a MFC program even without /clr switch. But my legacy app is a delphi program, and it always throw a stackoverflow exception within the constructor of my WPF user control as the program be started. I have no clue, Google is no help. and it has puzzled me for days.

    Hello, I have activex server exe that was building and registering fine on 32bit OS. I wanted to make 64 bit version of that exe by upgrading project to Visual Studio 2010 and changing platform to X64 which apparently doesn't work. Application itself works but I don't see it registered after running That.exe /RegServer I would appreciate any usable advice on migrating activex from 32 to x64. Code that is processing /RegServer param is below: if(lstrcmpi(lpszToken, _T("RegServer")) == 0) { _Module.UpdateRegistryFromResource(IDR_OUTDISKSARG, TRUE); nRet = _Module.RegisterServer(TRUE); bRun = false; break; } 32 bit activex is unuable for me since I have to load it in x64 .NET process.

  • Wrapping a Delphi TFrame descendant as an ActiveX control

    I am trying to wrap up a TFrame descendant as an ActiveX control, but don't seem to be able to get the control to show up in the ActiveX Control wizard. Is this approach possible, and if so, are there any working examples that I can be pointed at. I have tried to follow the instructions here, but as I said the control show in the list of available controls. Thanks in advance.

  • Run cmd.exe in Administrator mode without explorer.exe

    I've recently had trouble with explorer.exe not working. I found a possible solution here, using sfc.exe. The problem is that I cannot "right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator", since explorer.exe does not work for even a second without crashing. I tried to use the runas command to open cmd as administrator, but I get an error 1327 because I have a blank password. My question is, is there any other way to run cmd.exe with admin privileges? If not, is there any way to run sfc.exe without admin privileges? If not, does anyone have solution to my original problem of explorer.exe stopping and restarting ad nauseam?

  • Using graphical ActiveX (COM) controls in WinForms project

    I have a collection (set) of ActiveX controls. I recieved them from our vendor company. I created a wrappers for them using tlbimp.exe and aximp.exe. All non-graphical controls work good. All graphical controls don't react on some methods. When I call their methods I get: TargetInvocativeException (InnerException is null). or Attempt to read/write protected memory. Our vendor company assure that their graphical activex controls work good. But they don't provide support service, so I have to find solution of my problem alone. And some more, All graphical activex controls don't react on mouseclick or any other mouse manipulations. But documentation says: it must change the color on mouse click. Maybe, someone have same symptoms and can help me ! I googled over that problem many pages but they don't help me. Maybe it's some Visual Studio settings or compiler options ? I use VS 2005.

    I created a cab file that contains my activex using CABARC.exe. I also created an .inf file. My inf file looks like this: [version] signature="$CHICAGO$" AdvancedINF=2.0 [Add.Code] MySetup.exe=MySetup.exe [MySetup.exe] file-win32-x86=thiscab clsid={49892510-B520-4b35-8ADF-57084DD2F717} My html looks like this: <object name="secondobj" style='display:none' id='TestActivex' classid='CLSID:49892510-B520-4b35-8ADF-57084DD2F717' codebase='http://myurl/MySetup.cab#version=1,0,0,0'></object> I created the CABARC using the following commmand: C:\tools\Cab\BIN>CABARC.EXE N MySetup.cab MySetup.msi setup.inf I also added http://myurl to the trusted sites. Now the first time I opened the html page in IE, I saw a yellow bar, which I accepted. However it never installed the activex control. I dont see the installation in my program files nor can I see anything in the event logs or in the temporary download folder or in the "manage add-ons". Now everytime I open the webpage in IE, I do not see the yellow bar anymore. Can anybody help me out here please?
