  hi there i have created a custom aspx page whithin my sharepoint site with a sql server connection to a database on that server to select data when i view the page it works but when another user tries to view it it gives the following error : Server Error in '/' Application. • From ASPX to WCF

  I'm hoping someone can advise me on how to solve my networking scenario. Both the client and server are to be C# / .NET based. I basically want to invoke some kind of web service from my client in order to retrieve both binary data (e.g. files) and serialised objects and lists of objects (e.g. database query results). At the moment, I'm using ASPX pages, using the query string to provide parameters and I get back either the binary data, or the binary data of the serialised messages. This affords me a lot of flexbility, and I can choose how to transmit the data, perform simulatanous requests, cancel ongoing requests, etc. Since I can control the serialised format, I can also deserialise lists of objects as they are received which is crucial. My problem isn't a problem as such, but this feels a little hack-ish and I can't help but wonder if there are better ways to go about it. I'm considering moving on to WCF or perhaps another technology to see if it helps. However, I need to know if it helps with my scenarios above that is; Can a WCF method return a list of objects, and can the client receive the items of this list as they arrive as opposed to getting the entire list on completion (i.e. streaming). Does anyone know of any examples of this? Am I likely to get any performance benefits from this? I don't know how well ASPX pages are tuned for this, as it surely isn't their primary purpose. Are there any other approaches I should consider? Thanks for your time spent reading this. I hope you can help.

  Hey all, i have this peice of code that allows a user to select a jpg image, resize it and uploads it to the server driectory. The problem being is that it reloads the aspx page when it saves the image. My question is-is there any way to do this same thing but with ajax so that it doesn't leave the page after submitting it?   So recently I had an ASPX page that could be visited by two different user types.  User type A would use Master Page 1 and user type B would use Master Page 2.  So I put together a proof of concept to see if it was possible to change the MasterPage in code.  I found a great article on the Microsoft ASP.net website. • Cannot see changes made to aspx

  I'm trying to edit an aspx page...mainly javascript, and I randomly see changes that I've made when refreshing. I'm using jquery, but I'm not sure that jquery is the culprit here. For example. If I add a simple alert("hello"); in the page I'm calling, I do not see it take place until I have cleared all my temp files and cache, closed my browser opened back up...and even then, sometimes, I still don't see my changes. Any ideas?

So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.   Hi there I have a simple aspx page with some search options which queries an SQLEXpress database, and it is displayed in a gridview. For some reason, it runs lightning fast in IE but very slow in Firefox. It has very little code, a gridview a couple of images and a couple of textboxes and a search button. It was done with Expression Web so no additional code added. In production (not local) the speed is very noticiable when doing a search... IE displays the results almost instantly...Firefox might take 3-5 seconds. And everything else runs super fast as well in IE (update, delete etc). Is there a reason for this ? Thanks

  I am able to access the controls of ".aspx" file in ".aspx.cs" directly without any declaration in ".aspx.cs" or in designer.cs. How is this possible? This is happeing only if I open website as using File System. Create a new ASP.NET web site application with Visual Studio 2008. So following three files will be created automatically              "Default.aspx",              "Default.aspx.cs"              "Default.designer.cs" Now Delete "Default.designer.cs" perminently.   I am able to access the controls of ".aspx" file in ".aspx.cs" directly without any declaration in ".aspx.cs" or in designer.cs. How is this possible? This is happeing only if I open website as using File System. Create a new ASP.NET web site application with Visual Studio 2008. So following three files will be created automatically              "Default.aspx",              "Default.aspx.cs"              "Default.designer.cs" Now Delete "Default.designer.cs" perminently. Just create a button in Default.aspx file    <asp:Button runat="server" Text="Save Plan" ID="btnSave" />   Close the Solution and open the website as File System.               File -> Open Web Site -> File System -> Select Web Site Folder and Open the project.                   Now btnSave is automatically recognized in Default.aspx.cs without any declaration in Default.aspx.cs as bellow                            System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button btnSave; How btnSave is being recognized by .cs file without defining it anywhere as an object of System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button? • Visual Studio 2008 IDE freezes/crashes when opening .aspx file with css included

  I have read a lot of questions about Visual Studio 2008 crashing on viewing some source files. However, I still can't fix this problem. Visual Studio (SP1) runs fine until I try and view .aspx source files with the lines <style type="text/css"> </stlye> anywhere in them, upon which it freezes (i.e is totally unresponsive) and I have to use the task manager to shut it down. I have systematically deleted and re-included all other code and it comes down to these two lines, which is very confusing. Sometimes it happens as soon as the lines are added, sometimes it doesn't freeze until I build the solution with any of the problem pages open. I can add external style sheets, and it only started recently. I tried the event viewer logs but I don't really understand how to use them to find out about this. I had Resharper 4.5 installed and have since uninstalled it, and do not have anything else installed. Is there any way I can a) find out what's happening, b) fix it without reinstalling vs?

• .aspx character coding

  I am having an problem. First time working with a windows server, do you know if there is any problem in character coding? My document is set to content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" but it's giving me funny words... you can check it here. This site is a pure HTML with few includes but anything else is just HTML. I can convert them to HTML entities but that is basically wasting my time. I never had this problem with any website I did except for this. Some others said "The problems seems to be that you have converted the text into utf-8 twice.". But how would Coverted it twice since dreamweaver should convert it for me but in this case it doesn't.

When the user clicks on the email button it should take them to another webpage where the user can select the emails they want to send to. Then they will click the OK button and it will return them to the previous webpage where they can type in their email and write a message and hit submit.
